Well, you've read the ntoes, the ntoes were askew, and now it is time for you to post until the askew cows come home.

A Very Happy Birthday to DRs Noel and Basil!! ;D

Happy Birthday to Noel & Basil!
-
Happy Birthday, DR Basil! It is customary for me to request a photo of your birthday cake. I have to get my thrills where I can.
-
SUNDAY. OH jOY! :-\
-
But Happy Birthday cheers and mucho cake to the birthday boys!
-
Good morning, all! I'm up with the laundry and listening to the new OBC of the 2009 revival of FINIAN'S RAINBOW, which is the most complete recording of the score ever made and which sounds really good. One of the two washers is broken in the laundry room so I'm losing time this morning, but I just want to get it finished and put away. I have a birthday gift to wrap since tomorrow is Rob Berman's birthday. Tonight, there will be a huge party for him and I look forward to it. After I tidy up here and get a bit of work accomplished, I'll head down to the show around 2:00. Cheyenne should be back for it, and I suspect our last performance will be a total madhouse; I believe we are sold out. After the performance, I'm going to hang out with Bruce Pomahac until we head down to the party.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday, DR Noel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where are you these days?

!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to Our New DR Basil !!!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday DR Noel.
Happy Birthday DR Basil.

Is anybody else going to watch the Golden Globes tonight?

Happy Basil Day!

Happy Noel Day!
-
Closing night vibes to Dear Elmore. I'm so glad I got to see the show again. I've cut back on buying CDs but I will make sure to get Finian's Rainbow.
-
Kerry, I hope to get your sparkling requests in the mail this week.
-
Happy Birthday, DR Noel!
-
Happy Birthday to DR NOEL.
Happy Birthday to DR BASIL.
-
Thanks to DR MATTH and DR GEORGE - I knew SOUTHLAND had been mentioned last week, but I thought it was mostly to talk about a specific actor....anyWAY....thanks.....I may start watching this week just to get in the groove....nice companion to NCIS and NICS LA.
SOUTHLAND is on at 10 p.m. and I can certainly live without A GOOD WIFE....have for almost 60 years.
-
Terri White wrote on her Facebook page today: this is the first time in my career a hit show is closing. I weep for the end of the rainbow.
-
Yes the GOLDEN GLOBE buyout is tonight - not sure if I will watch.
-
DR ELMORE I am sending happy vibes to you and the cast, crew, and staff.....and am looking forward to receiving my CD next month!!!
-
Yes the US Nationals Men's Final Skate is on NBC Universal Sports at 6:30 p.m. in my area. I enjoy having this service, but would rather have TCM HD.
-
Excellent website, DR CILLA LIZ.
-
Post donated to Haiti Relief.
-
Happy Birthday to DR Noel and DR Basil.
DR Elmore, have a great time today. Can't wait to hear the cast recording of the show.
-
Is anybody else going to watch the Golden Globes tonight?
I will be recording it, but I won't watch live. There are too many other things on, and I'll probably be working, too. After I read the list of winners, I'll go back to the ones I like and watch acceptance speeches.
-
Happy Birthday wishes to today's birthday boys!!!
-
Good morning!
Much warmer here (43 during my walk this morning, didn't even need a jacket or gloves), and it must have poured down rain during the night becuase the creek a block from my house was very high and flowing rapidly. I must have slept through the whole thing. It drizzled a bit yesterday afternoon but it was nothing major.
-
It's a very crowded TV schedule for me tonight. I want to see THE HUMAN TARGET's premiere pilot episode tonight (it's repeated on Tuesday night before the premiere in its new Wednesday timeslot in case anyone is interested but can't fit it in tonight).
'24' premieres tonight at 9 for two hours, very unusual for Fox to go past 10 p.m., but I'm going to have to watch '24' "live" since I'll be recording The Golden Globes and BROTHERS & SISTERS at various times while '24' is playing.
So, a very crowded night for me.
-
It's going to be a late night for me, too, since '24' won't finish until 11 at the earliest (depending on if there is football runover).
What a mess of a schedule!
-
Page Two Dance!!!
-
Today my work project will be Wim Wenders' PARIS, TEXAS which I haven't seen in at least twenty years. Looking forward to revisiting it.
It's a Criterion two-disc set, so that means with the movie being over two hours long and the bonuses having to be housed on a separate disc, I'll be working on this all afternoon and some of this evening.
Don't know when I'll fit in being able to watch the Men's Figure Skating Championship finals. My regular NBC affiliate is carrying this which I'm glad about since we don't have Universal Sports here on Time Warner.
-
Very sad being all alone in the HHW world!
-
Well, I've finished my morning internet surf and am ready to finish up a few things here and then head downstairs to watch something on the DVR (CASTLE had a rerun last night) before starting on lunch.
WBBL.

There is a marathon in town today, which is in the shape of a figure 8. I am in one of the loops, and so many of the roads are closed today. It will be a very quiet day at church, since many people will not even try to get there. My DH allowed an hour to get to work today instead of the usual ten minutes.
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAYS TO THE CELEBRATORS.
-
Or should that be CELEBRATEES?
-
I am intrigued by HUMAN TARGET, but I do not know if I will watch.

They FINALLY began scheduling the Indianapolis Mini Marathon on Saturday morning instead of Friday after about 10 years of completely disrupted morning rush hour traffic and general confusion and hooliganism.

Can one of our NYC denizens clarify something for me, if you know? At my gig last night, the bassist was telling me about a MOMA exhibit he went to last year on Abstract Expressionism. He said one main portion of it was a 19th century guy with progressive mental disease and the exhibit showed a progression from beautiful still lifes to horrible nightmare scenes. What got me confused is the bassist said this same artist also had images of electroshock therapy and that he was lobotomized. Obviously either the timeline is off or the bassist is confused about (perhaps) two different artists. Did any of you see it? Do you have any idea whom he's referencing?
-
I of course am wondering if a certain Scientologist "author" wrote the exhibit descriptions, LOL.
-
Hello, that is all. I think I'm going to Up In the Air this afternoon, I haven't seen many movies at al this year, but plan to see the Golden Globes tonight
-
For the past several weeks I've been going on about 5 hours of sleep a night. Between last night and the night before I slept 18 hours. I feel much better. I keep thinking I should go to the office and do some work today, but I was so exhausted last week that I think I'm better off taking one more day off.
-
Happy Birthday DR Noel!!!

DR Jose might know. Did you check the MOMA site? There might be a contact page for questions on previous exhibits.
This new FINIAN'S recording sounds fantastic!

We are working tomorrow, even though it's MLK day. I like to take it off, but I have a number of potential clients who wanted to come in on their day off so I decided to work.

guess I had more to say than I thought.

It's really foggy here and has been for several days. It's the snow melting into humid air. At least the snow is melting

A very happy birthday to DR Noel, who hasn't been seen around these parts in a long, long time!

Watching some more SEA HUNT episodes. Mr Wayne Mallory (brother of Guy Madison), Edson Stroll, and Anthony George are among those featured in the episodes.....and Ms Jan Harrison is back in a couple of shows as some different gals....and one episode features Maris Wrixon.....

I love the Golden Globes. I will be watching the show - LIVE - from start to finish.

One more.

Good Morning! Good Afternoon!
I'm up, I'm up... And as much as I like Lincoln Center's "20 for 20" promotion, it was really nice to sleep in today.
-
The short versions...
I liked last night performance of Turandot at The Met. The Zeffirelli production still manages to impress and overwhelm, but it works its magic.
The soprano, well... However, Salvatore Licitra, unlike on opening night, did not crack last night. Whew! -In fact, he sounded in very good voice last night. Alas, he certainly does not sound as good and healthy as he did when he made his debut a couple of years ago.
-
After the opera - which did not get out until close to midnight - I ended up heading back over to Casellula for some post-Puccini nourishment. My friend, Brendan, had just gotten back from an event at the UN, so he ended up joining me. A couple of appetizers and a slice of their amazing chocolate cake and some great conversation... We ended up staying until closing... 2:00...
-
And by the time I got back to my apartment... After being up since 7:30am... Well... Goodnight.

For those of you interested in helping raise funds for Haitian relief:
I have a mobile phone registered with Virgin - I need to pay $20 every three months to keep the phone active. I never come close to using all my minutes, so the money rolls over from month to month (I think there is nearly $200 in the account).
I have never texted! (I have sent text to an Email account).
The TV ads say "TEXT HAITI to 90999" to contribute $10 to ARC.
Will that work regardless of what phone service I use?
Are there other helpful suggestions/numbers?
I'm not a big Red Cross Fan, and the YELE site is getting bad press, but I guess giving some of the surplus to ARC is better than taking it to my grave.
Thanx

Hmmm...
The first exhibit/artist that came to my mind was the James Ensor (http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/312) which did include some rather "interesting" subject matter.
However, I don't recall an Abstract Expressionism exhibit at MoMA last year (http://moma.org/explore/exhibitions/2009), nor in 2008 (http://moma.org/explore/exhibitions/2008). There were a couple of photography mini-exhibitions, and I do seem to remember a couple of more disturbing images from there, but...
Maybe he was thinking of one of the exhibitions at the Guggenheim?

It should. And, if it turns out that you can't make a donation via text, you will get a bounce-back message saying so. In other words, it can't hurt to try.
*Now, does the "money" roll over? or just the "minutes"? I suspect it may just be the minutes. Call your carrier.
**And if it is the "money" that rolls over, I have a feeling that that money is designated for your account, not as additional charge/donation.

Definitely "money" - whne I ask for a current balance it's quoted as dollars - not minutes; I have no "minutes" allocation, I just get charged for the minutes I use.
Calling is probably a good idea.

Happy 29 to our Dear Ginny and Richard!!!

It is very difficult to know what organization to give my donation to for the earthquake relief in Haiti. I think I will donate to World Vision, bascially because they are headquarted here locally. I also know that they already had staff working in Haiti before the quake.
-
{{{{Hugs}}}} to elmore on this very sad day.

I really don't do that much copying, and I usually never go to Staples anymore because they have no more script rate fee and I hate them. However, they're one minute from my house so for these really short runs it makes sense to do them there. However, anytime I need a full run or scripts or anything, I go to Office Depot where a former dear reader works and where I do get a script rate and usually have discount coupons.
-
I printed, I Xeroxed, I delivered. I went and had a little breakfast - I decided to switch it up and ordered lox, eggs, and onions, but the lox was so disgustingly pungent and strong, I couldn't eat it - I ended up with my bacon and eggs.
-

It should. And, if it turns out that you can't make a donation via text, you will get a bounce-back message saying so. In other words, it can't hurt to try.
well, their website offers:
Virgin Mobile USA wants you to know that there are several ways you can contribute to the earthquake relief efforts for Haiti.
The following Text to Donate shortcodes work on Virgin Mobile phones:
• Text "YELE" to 501501 to donate $5
to Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti organization and contribute to the relief effort.
• Text "HAITI" to 90999 to donate $10
thru the American Red Cross to contribute to the relief effort.
• Text the word "Haiti" to 85944 to donate $5
On behalf of the Union Rescue Mission in cooperation with the International Medical Corps.
Standard messaging fees do not apply for the above shortcodes when making a donation to help Haiti.
I have sent them a Message asking if the donation amount is an added charge.
I sure hope not - if it comes from my account balance I can afford to donate about $250!

I think I will also check out the red carpet. Although we don't seem to be getting the usual E red carpet. Guess i will have to watch on NBC.

I mean...the birthday of their new life together. Yeah. That's it!

Several rescue planes with supplies and medical personnel have been denied permission to land in Haiti - including two from Doctors Without Borders - they have been redirected to the Dominican Republic and then supplies transferred by truck resulting in a 24 hour delay in delivering help.
http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/press/release.cfm?id=4165&cat=press-release
This is being done despite assurances from Secretary of State Hilly Clinton that no such delay is expected because of her diplomatic skills.
In the meantime - the Red Cross is busy counting its money because compensation for its regional directors is based on how much lucre is raised in their individual parts of the country, and no money can be earmarked until the salary portion is first deducted....and that can't be determined until all the money is collected and counted. And of course, the amount of money sent out must be totaled so that a bill for the services can be sent to the proper governmental agencies.

Sad and shocking story DR JMK.
-
Off to watch some skiing and some ice skating....on television of course.

My best friend John bought a small laser printer for his home computer, and he said it's the best decision he ever made. With a wife who's a lawyer and two school-aged children, it was VERY cost effective for him to go laser.
-
Yes, indeed, Happy Anniversary wishes!
-
I decided to watch last night's CASTLE rerun while I ate lunch. Good episode (the one with art forgeries and the suspect who had amnesia). I just loved the actor who played the amnesiac.
-
Then I watched the marvelous PARIS, TEXAS. Yep, it's a languidly paced film, but it never feels dull to me, and I find the ending both triumphant and tragic at the same time. It's a terrific film.
-
I listened to a nice chunk of the commentary. I had NO idea the child actor who plays Harry Dean Stanton's little boy was Karen Black's son. (Karen Black's husband assisted with the script when Sam Shepard went off to write and film COUNTRY.)
-
Sunday afternoon greetings! Thank you for the anniversary wishes to DRs:

The cake was a hit with the folks at church, as were the pictures. I'll post photos later, but not 'til after I watch the skating and then go out to dinner with Richard and my mom and niece. Not only are we celebrating our anniversary, but the competion of my mom's move. Laura finished clearing out the garage this afternoon and Mom will turn in the keys tomorrow (a day early!). Then I think she'll be ready to be left alone to putter in the new place for a while.
-
Thank you, DR MattH!
-
There was the theatrical trailer on the first disc, too, which I watched.
I also had time to watch the first special feature on disc two - a 30 minute interview in German with director Wim Wenders. Pretty much repeats what he talked about in the commentary on the unusual way the script got written. He told about winning the Golden Palm at Cannes, and how disappointed he was with the distribution of the film in Germany (it was a big hit in many other European countries and Japan, but didn't get good distribution in Germany. Of course, it flopped big time in America.)
-
Happy 1st HHW birthday to DR Basil!
-
Happy Birthday to DR Noel - we miss you!
-
Edi, I am sure that DR Ginny will be thrilled that you think today is her 29th birthday.
LOL - if it were my 29th birthday I wouldn't even be engaged, much less married!
-
After a quick internet surf, I'm hopping off-line so I can get the movie and video/audio quality written up and then return downstairs to put away the folded laundry and then get back to work on those bonus features for PARIS, TEXAS. Then, I'll try to fit in some prime time TV.

Well, I guess diverting them makes more sense then telling them to go back! Doctors without Borders is not the only emergency show in town - there is clearly more demand for emergency use of the airport than it has capacity. Having an additional emergency hospital capability is probably of no more pressing need than to have medicines, infant formula and potable water. Diverting the first flight might put a 24 hour delay in the first phase of establishing the new medical facilities, but it will then take future pressure off of the airport because all the follow-on planes can be diverted and the new pipeline can flow smoothly. Much of the airpost log jam has been caused by private international charters delivering VIPs for their photo-ops of offering aid!
I'm sure setting up a secondary delivery route via the DR was a top priority for the USAF running the show; and I'm sure every one delivering aid can make a case for front-of-the-line status.

Don't most/many printers come with photo copiers? I know mine does. It's very convenient.
Yes, but....
The combination ink-jet scanner/printer/copiers do not begin to have the production rate (pages/minute) that the laser printers do. And the consumable cost per page (ink/toner) is generally less than for laser printers. Also the combo ink-jet machine can not support the same duty cycle of useage as a laser can. When I was doing my consulting work, my 10,000 personalized letters/day effort would have turned a personal ink-jet unit to smoking scrap.

I've done about eight pages, I think, maybe more. I was right - I covered the entire year of 1974 in fourteen pages, just leaping to the important things. If this book were about more personal things I could have written another eighty pages because that was the year I was separated and a lot of folks passed through my little cottage in Sherman Oaks. But, as muse Margaret said, that isn't what the book is about. I mostly only go to that place if it involved work-related stuff.

interesting perspective on the diversion-thanks. i was surprised doctors without borders was diverted because i thought they were already established there.
while listening to news of hillary's trip there keith kept groaning. when i reminded him she would be taking american's home with her he pointed out if she weren't on the plane there would be more room for those stranded. ;D i hope she really does make a difference.

And of course, the amount of money sent out must be totaled so that a bill for the services can be sent to the proper governmental agencies.
Naturally, a portion of all contributions to charitable organizations goes toward administrative costs - and if I were doing compensation for regional directors, dollars raised would be a big factor. Again, it is standard practice for relief type organizations to prime the pump with on-hand dollars then repay themselves as funds are accumulated and tallied.
The Red Cross should be commended for whatever they can do in regards to invoicing governmental organizations for financial reimbursement; every dollar they can recoup is a dollar available to start the cash flow for the next crises.
Cash is fungible - it is naive to think that there is some special system that will ensure that your gift will do directly to the intended cause - your gift will go into the accounting system that pays for relief efforts at hand.
I spent many hours when on the board of ICT (International City Theatre, Long Beach CA) coaxing some major donors to give us "unrestricted gifts" that would, in fact, pay for the organization's overhead. When I was successful, I could put out fund-raising pleas that would promise that "every dollar you donate" will go toward children's education. In order to appease potential donors you also had to keep the ratio of fundraising expenses to funds raised at a low number. This was of course silly! It is better to spend $50,000 to raise $100,000 (a 50% admin charge) than it is to spend $1000 to raise $10,000 (a low 10% admin charge). Naturally we all had clever accounting tricks to "help" the numbers: hold a charity dinner for 50 that costs you $45/plate for food and $5/plate for mailing, printing, advertising, etc - charge $100 head and you net $2,500 (a 50% event that looks really bad on the books; get a deep pocket donor to "donate the dinner" and you end up with an event that cost $250 to net $2,500 (a 10% event, not too shabby); get the printer to contribute all his costs and a publisher to give you free ad space and you end up with $25 in mailing costs to raise $2,500 (a 1% event - you are a hero!) The real trick to fund raising is to host very elaborate (and expensive) galas that will attract an affluent crowd that you can milk with auctions.

As usual, I have to go back and put something I totally forgot about in 1974 - two episodes of Happy Days - that's sort of important.
-
...while listening to news of hillary's trip there keith kept groaning. when i reminded him she would be taking american's home with her he pointed out if she weren't on the plane there would be more room for those stranded. ;D
Just think - if we were to forgo CNN's on site visits to the body dumps to get grisly real-time close ups, the housing, fuel, and food used to support Anderson Cooper and his team could save a lot of people.

And I could also say - Geraldo, stay home.

*Now, does the "money" roll over? or just the "minutes"? I suspect it may just be the minutes. Call your carrier.
**And if it is the "money" that rolls over, I have a feeling that that money is designated for your account, not as additional charge/donation.
Got through to Virgin - after much automated phone prompting nonsense I get a real live human non-native english speaker from whom I get answers.
In short - any funds texted come form my account and are not separatelt billed.
So that means I have a $250 budget for "text giving".
I am not adverse to giving some to the Red Cross.
Anybody have thoughts on • Text the word "Haiti" to 85944 to donate $5
on behalf of the Union Rescue Mission in cooperation with the International Medical Corps.
Anybody know of any other worthy "text your fortune" numbers?

Saying anything and everything that you can will NOT change my mind about the American Red Cross, DR derBrucer. I am NOT just talking or writing, I am giving you the facts.
It is an odious, money-grubbing, misleading money pit for fat cats - nothing will convince me otherwise. I do not come by my strong opinions lightly or without much thought.
Say what you will....but don't defend them to me.
-
Great performances in the Men's Long Skate today. Although, I might switch the 3rd and 4th place finishers.
I am beginning to watch Red Carpet coverage.....but it's pretty bad already only 4 minutes in.....

From the read the labels file:
Woody brought me a jar of Hellmann's Low Fat mayo to try:
Yeah it's low fat alright a reduction from 10 to 1 grams and lower
Cholesterol – 5 mg to 0,
BUT
It has a huge jump in sodium - from 90 mg to 130, and it has something new - 2g or carbs
Plus many more additives - colorings, preservatives, etc.
Translation - they eliminated the egg yolks and compensated for the textural loss by adding cornsatrch and beefed up the flavor with much more salt and an added dose of high fructose corn syrup!
And it tastes like UNDERPANTS!
(You can really taste the added, and most unwelcome "sweet".

It's raining on the red carpet. I must say that Ryan Seacrest looks very spiffy in his traditional tuxedo, and he has a very nice haircut, too.

Low Fat Mayo?

Fine. Just consider my post as a possible defense of them to others.

Hi everyone.

A most wonderful anniversary celebration to DR Ginny and her DH Richard!!!!

Happy Birthday to DR Basil!

Happy Birthday to Noel.

Congratulations to DR elmore on being part of the wonderful Finian's Rainbow and helping to bring that very fine show to us all, even though its stay was way too short.

Why would you want to, knowing the facts? Oh well, never mind.

Wow Jane Lynch looks beautiful in olive green.....and says hi to her girl friend.

have you checked out the Light hellman's? keith prefers it to thr Low Fat.
-
Lea Michelle beautiful in black.
I guess I will stop trying to make the GG Red Carpet happen at HHW. :)
-
have you checked out the Light hellman's? keith prefers it to thr Low Fat.
No, but since I'll try just about anything onece, I'll give it a spin. Thank Keith for the suggestion

i admire the small groups where all funds, or almost all, donated are used for the service provided.
not only doesn't the woman who began Romanian Animal Rescue not take a salary, she donates her own funds to help the animals.

i can eat a little on a sandwich but i don't like it mixed into anything. instead of mayo on bread i spread a little soft avocado. is avocado on your new diet? it is supposedly a good fat.

are you watching on tv or is there a link i can go to?
-
i just found lea
-
I have worked in several Red Cross shelters -- both locally and out-of-state.
-
Watching on E! DR JANE.
-
Wow . they cut away from Lea in mid sentence to go to Ryan with Sandra Bullock.
HOWEVER, Miss Sandra Bullock was very lovely - well, not the hair - and said some very gracious and nice things.....

Several rescue planes with supplies and medical personnel have been denied permission to land in Haiti - including two from Doctors Without Borders - they have been redirected to the Dominican Republic and then supplies transferred by truck resulting in a 24 hour delay in delivering help.
Diverting the first flight might put a 24 hour delay in the first phase of establishing the new medical facilities, but it will then take future pressure off of the airport because all the follow-on planes can be diverted and the new pipeline can flow smoothly.
Much of the airpost log jam has been caused by private international charters delivering VIPs for their photo-ops of offering aid!
interesting perspective on the diversion-thanks. i was surprised doctors without borders was diverted because i thought they were already established there.
while listening to news of hillary's trip there keith kept groaning. when i reminded him she would be taking american's home with her he pointed out if she weren't on the plane there would be more room for those stranded. ;D i hope she really does make a difference.
If Secretary of State Clinton had not flown to Haiti, there would be one less plane for the survivors.
-
Is the GG live on the west coast? Is this one where we don't have to use spoilers or worry that they haven't seen it yet?
-
Happy Anniversary Richard and Ginny!!
-
I went to UP IN THE AIR today and absolutely loved it!
-
Happy anniversary to DR Ginny & DH Richard. In lieu of cake, I had an oats and apple fiber bar in your honor.
-
Happy happy birthday to gone-way-too-long DR Noel
-
Happiest of birthdays to new DR Basil.
I had basil on my tostada at lunch even without knowing it was your birthday at the time.
-
Hope elmore is proud of his Broadway accomplishment and that it leads to many great things.
-
Is the GG live on the west coast? Is this one where we don't have to use spoilers or worry that they haven't seen it yet?
Yes, the Golden Globes are being shown LIVE nationwide.
-
Cool. Enjoying the reactions to the rain.
-
Congrats to elmore for all his work on Finnian's Rainbow and vibes that it leads to many more opportunities~~~~
-
Up In the Air wasn't at all what I expected. Since a lot of it is centered around Omaha (which is very close to us), there were many extra chuckles in the audience about references to Omaha and Nebraska
-
I'll take that Golden Globes snuggie
-
I've never seen so many women just wearing their hair down and straight. I'm assuming that's in part because of the weather
-
If the Golden Globes are live, let's have lots of reports on them, since I have no intention of actually watching them. Let's have the best globes on all the Internet.
-
I do recommend UMCOR as a donation beneficiary. They've been in Haiti for years and years.
-
Watching my second Sopranos episode of the day. It's been lightly raining for the last two hours. By the time I realized it, it was too late to put the car back in the garage.
-
I added the Happy Days stuff where it belonged, so I've now done a little over ten pages. Tomorrow I pass 200 pages of manuscript.
-

I am humbled by the efforts of individuals.
-
Christina Hendricks - Joan from MAD MEN - is rocking her look.....wow!
-
I've never seen so many women just wearing their hair down and straight. I'm assuming that's in part because of the weather
unless you have wavy hair that frizzes in the damp weather ;D
-
I have only noticed in all of Hilly's comments - and her husband's as well - they talk about the time they spent in Haiti for some reason or another and the connections they have there...it's always about them.
Haiti is all about the voodoo.....connection or no?
-
Man - so many of the guys need their trousers hemmed....
-
We are back from a delightful dinner at The Olive Garden.
Thanks to DRs Julie, Cillaliz, and FJL for the anniversary wishes that were posted while I was away.
-

-
Tina Fey - "It's not rain, it's God crying for NBC" oh puhleese.
-
LOL....DR CILLA LIZ
-
Here come the awards! Ricky Gervais is the host.....
-
Wow, are we all watching the Golden Globes at the same time?? No delay???
-
I may be back.....if I don't fall asleep.
My only prediction.....everyone will mention Haiti except the cast of PRECIOUS.
-

Agree TCB - Clinton's had their honeymoon in Haiti and Bill is the UN Special envoy. Their comments seem to me to explain why they care and show some empathy as in this is a place we know and love not this is the photo op of the moment. Haiti needs help. I'm all for any celebrity, political or otherwise who wants to lend a hand or encourage others
-
Wow, are we all watching the Golden Globes at the same time?? No delay???
Pretty nice, huh
-
OK, as requested, some photos from 29 years ago today. I've not been able to figure out how to use my scanner, so I just pointed the camera at the album - hope they turn out OK:
-
As usual, I have to go back and put something I totally forgot about in 1974 - two episodes of Happy Days - that's sort of important.
We interviewed Ron Howard for our film. What a sweetie!

Fingers crossed for Kyra!!!

And 2 more:

And from today:

Great Photos Thanks Ginny for sharing them
-
Love the photos, Ginny! You were a cute couple then, and you are now!
-
Monique wins best actress for Precious
-
Where was Nicole's ribbon that she was saying everyone was wearing??
-
It was on the upper left of her dress, almost on her shoulder
-
Wow Ginny - thanks for sharing your beautiful wedding photos with us, as well as the photos from today's festivities.
-
Go JETS!!!
-
Toni's dress is gorgeous.
-
Toni Collette looks great. I like her, haven't seen that show, but glad she won
-
Thanks, DRs Cillaliz, Edi, and Julie for the comments on my photos. It's been fun today.
-
Great photos DR GINNY!!!
-
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm....
see ya!
-
Oh, I didn't recognize William Hurt with the long beard
-
Jrand - As one of the actors' tailors said when asked what the outfit needed : "A-hem."
-
They've made it impossible for the winners to just walk to the stage. Stupid lay out...or they should have told them in advance how to get to the stage
-
Doesn't John Lithgow have a slew of Golden Globes?
-
Ah - I haven't gotten up to the current season of Dexter yet. Now I'm even more looking forward to continuing the catch-up.
-
Golden Cranberries!
-
Thanks, DR JRand!
-
Dexter, another show I've never seen
-

I'm really glad the Sushi man didn't win.
-
OMG, BECKY.... WHAT IS ON MICHAEL C HALL'S HEAD???
-
"Animation is not just for children, it's also for adults who take drugs" Sir Paul McCartney
-
So nice that Sir Paul is reflecting back on his Sgt. Peppers days with that jacket.
-
In the midst of all our moving and anniversary festivities, I wanted to send vibes to DR Elmore on Finian's Rainbow's closing day. People are gonna get the CD and wonder why they can't go see that wonderful show in person. I'm sure glad we had the privilege.
-
Oh, it's a scarf.
-
Yay "Up"!!!
-

-
Fingers crossed for Kyra!!!
yes!
-
Just added UP to my netflix queue
-
ginny, i love the then & now photos. thank you.
-
Just added UP to my netflix queue
We watched it last night. It was a great movie. Moved well, and very clever and touching.
-
Have another drink, Felicity
-
Thanks for posting the photos, Ginny. They are wonderful.
-
Happy Birthday to DR Basil!
-
Happy Birthday, DR Noel!
-
Go Dexter!!
-
Think Michael C Hall will explain why he's wearing a stocking cap?
-
Oh, it's a scarf.
That is so not a scarf, that's more like a turban.
-
Happy Anniversary, DR Ginny and Richard! Thanks for sharing your photos!
-
He's got lipstick on his cheek
-
Nope
-
Oh, drat, Kyra didn't get it.......
-
Ok, just googled Michael C Hall, he has cancer, which is in remission.
-
Page 9 GOLDEN GLOBE'S DANCE.
-
This show is really boring
-
Damn it! No win for Kyra---she's not even there!
-
Kyra does look great tonight
-
Oh, it's a scarf.
That is so not a scarf, that's more like a turban.
I was talking about Paul McCartney.
Dexter wore a turban - you're right!
-
I didn't see her when they announced her name. Poor Kyra...
-
She's there, they showed Kevin earlier and showed Kyra right after Julianna started giving her acceptance speech. Maybe she was in the bathroom
-
Not fair how they neglected to show Kyra when they announced her as a nominee. But at least we got to see a glimpse of her during Julianna's acceptance speech. Kyra looked beautiful.
-
Harrison is the new spokesperson for the Hair Club for Men
-
Dang---I missed her!
-
Cher can clearly replace Bebe Newirth in the role of Morticia Addams when the new Addams Family musical comes to NY.
-
She's there, they showed Kevin earlier and showed Kyra right after Julianna started giving her acceptance speech. Maybe she was in the bathroom
i thought julianna might win, her performance on the Good Wife has been terrific. i still wish Kyra had won. i didn't see her on the red carpet photos.
-
Cher can clearly replace Bebe Newirth in the role of Morticia Addams when the new Addams Family musical comes to NY.
Costuming will be easy!!!! If she doesn't mind wearing her own clothes
-
YAY "UP!!" - Best Score!!! However, Cher butchered Michael Giacchino's name.
-
Be sure to post winners.
-
Yay for Grey Gardens!!!!
-
Wonderful anniversary photographs.
-
Finished the second episode of today's Sopranos - may go for one more or may not.
-
Is she wearing a dickie?
-
And here is what's left of Cher!
A win for GREY GARDENS which was pretty amazing.
UP which has been written about at HHW in positive terms is on a mini sweep of its categories.....would that be and UP SWEEP?
Or have I been watching too much Tabatha?
-
I'm quite weary.
-
I'm very happy for Grey Gardens. It was wonderful
-
Yes I read the story about Michael C. Hall and his cancer just last week.
-
I'm quite weary.
Sounds like a lyric.
-
I'm very happy for Grey Gardens. It was wonderful
Drew Barrymore WAS Little Edie....it was uncanny - almost eerie!
-
God shut this woman up.....
-
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........perhaps the stranglehold that Miramax had on the Foreign Press has finally been broken.
-
Shut which woman up?
-
I LOVED "Julie and Julia"!!!!!!!
-
Drew Barrymore is a director now, dontcha know.
-
If Julie and Julia won an award TELL us.
-
They were just introducing the best picture nominees, one at a time throughout the show, it was the time to introduce it
-
If Julie and Julia won an award TELL us.
Not yet, I just get excited when I see it!
-
Meryl Streep wins for Julie and Julia
-
Meryl Streep - Julie and Julia
-
Yay. I thought she was fantastic.
-
She was so much fun as Julia Child
-
She's going to change her name to T-Bone Streep
-
Was that leading actress? Do they have separate comedy and drama awards for the actors like they stupidly do for the movies?
-
Yes, she won for Comedy or Musical
-
http://www.goldenglobes.org/nominations/
Here's the nomination list
-
T-Bone looked nice in that black dress with a BIG belt. She rambled, but then ended up exactly where she wanted to go.
The rambling woman was a producer or something.......I didn't get her name.
-
Meryl Streep was wrong -- SHE IS one of the extraordinary women.
-
Meryl Streep was wrong -- SHE IS one of the extraordinary women.
Agreed!
-
Sandra is still nominated for drama best actress for that football movie, I think.
Ricky is trying to be funny - but seems a bit out of place.....just a bit. Sometimes the Oscar hosts seem more spontaneous about things as they happen.....he seems to have a script to follow.
-
Why do these oafs DO that? It's too many categories, but these particular awards have always been the silliest - given out by people who accept and respond to the wooing (both with gifts and otherwise) of the producers. Still, glad for Meryl, but the fact that there are two separate categories, for me, takes away any meaning this could have. I suppose it gives her some sort of momentum for the Oscars, but there it won't be two categories.
-
Meryl Streep was wrong -- SHE IS one of the extraordinary women.
Agreed!
Amen......just say SOPHIE'S CHOICE and watch me cry.
-
It's still raining. Nothing heavy, but I hope it stops long enough for me to put my car away without getting wet.
-
Helen Mirrin - who turned down the part that Mariah Carey played in PRECIOUS....according to Mariah.
-
Streep is the most consistently interesting actress in film and has been for over two decades now.
-
I guess I'll do one more episode of The Sopranos and finish disc two. Please post all winners.
-

-
I like the porcupine on Drew's shoulder.
-
Jessica Lange looks more and more like Frances Farmer every day.
:o
-
Jessica Lange WAS Big Edie!
-
Sweet Drew....and yes wearing an animal on her shoulder was a bold choice.

Maybe the same one crawled down.
-
Actually I liked the dress too once I got a long shot of it
-
I have only seen one nominated film. I am so behind on movie-going.
-
Is it legal for George Clooney to look that good?
No.....not since the 2001 Congress passed that law.
-
Is it legal for George Clooney to look that good?
:) I watched him all afternoon....have you seen Up In the Air?
-
I have only seen one nominated film. I am so behind on movie-going.
I've seen "Up" and "Avatar". I was not a huge fan of "Avatar", I think I'm the only one
-
Actually I liked the dress too once I got a long shot of it
Christina Hendricks' dress has been my favorite of the night.....maybe she will be onstage, although I love the mauve color of Sandra Bullock's dress....her hair not so much.

Is it legal for George Clooney to look that good?
:) I watched him all afternoon....have you seen Up In the Air?
Not yet. I must correct that very soon.
-

Pants should break at the instep of your shoe, NOT at your ankle.
-

-
Maggie Gyllenhall looked pretty. What color was that?
It looked like peach with a touch of cream.
-
Avatar! and Nine haven't won anything yet. Interesting.
Quentin Tarantino has on a dumb outfit and he dyed his hair too black.....but I sure did like his movie!
-
Peaches and cream.

There's one director I'm NOT rooting for...
-
BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

Ah Sophia -- I love the sheer shoulers and arms on that dress. Beautiful.
-
Sophia looks kind of scary.

Good Evening!
What a rainy, semi-ugly day here in NYC. Ah, well...
And, on top of that, I headed out to Queens to check out a Chinese restaurant with some friends, and the meal was good, but somewhat underwhelming.
-
There's one director I'm NOT rooting for...
Do tell....
-
The White Ribbon director has "chet leg".
-

LOL!

Someone I've had personal contact with...

Hem your G.D. pants!
Oh.....got it, DR EDI.

As for the planes being diverted from Haiti....
-The planes from Doctors Without Borders are not the only planes that have been diverted to Santo Domingo.
-A primary reason for the diversions - divertings (?) - is that there is not enough fuel at the airport in Port Au Prince to re-fuel all the planes flying in - and flying out. Better to keep the runways as runways instead of as a parking lot.
-
I'm not cheering for the unnamed director, but would like to see this film
-
There they are....Christina Hendricks.
-
There's one director I'm NOT rooting for...
;D
-
I haven't seen Mad Men either
-
Although my avatar was Mad Men-ized
-
There they are....Christina Hendricks.
LOL...I was thinking the same thing. She is "gifted".
-
Oh Drat, we missed JRands 40404
-
bk, watch the mail for a parcel from Atlanta...
"A Parcel from Atlantic" - Is that what Horton sent to Hallie?
-
I know. JRand posted too quickly! We are the few lucky ones to have been here for the fleeting yet momentous occassion.
-
There they are....Christina Hendricks.
LOL...I was thinking the same thing. She is "gifted".
Doubly gifted......and she can play the accordion! I can't recommend MAD MEN highly enough.
Imagine that girl playing the accordion and singing "C'est Magnifique" because her husband insists she do so at a small dinner party.
-
Oh Drat, we missed JRands 40404
I talk too much.
Careful what you say, DR JOSE.
-
Matthew Weiner's 12 year old son asked his father to bring home January Jones' wardrobe for him....
-
Or have I been watching too much Tabatha?
There is no such thing as too much Tabatha. ;)
*And what's really cool is that she corresponds with her fans and followers on Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/TabathaCoffey - and Facebook.
-
Taylor has a strange face, too.....
-
Careful what you say, DR JOSE.
Why? Will children listen?
-
Hem your G.D. pants!
-
Fingers crossed for Jane!
-
I <heart> Jane Lynch.
-
Taylor has a strange face, too.....
But it's all about his abs anyway.
-
Off to eat dinner, will be paying attention, just not posting.
-
I hate this dreess
-
Chloe almost lost her dress!
-
Train wreck.....and that white dress was kinda ugly.
Chloe is pretty.....but her makeup is strange.
-
I don't like Chloe's dress.
-
Taylor has a strange face, too.....
But it's all about his abs anyway.
Then he should NEVER be required to wear a shirt.
-
And she should have been more gracious about it.
-
Michael C. Hall was/is wearing a loose knit cap for the reason previously stated.
-
Halle where is your turtleneck?
-
And she should have been more gracious about it.
Well... After a couple of cocktails and a glass or two of wine...
-
I hadn't heard that before. Sorry to hear that's the reason...for the cap
-
We are getting very close to a wardrobe malfunction.
-
Christolph Waltz....Best Supporting Actor Motion Picture.....well deserved.
-
I hadn't heard that before. Sorry to hear that's the reason...for the cap
Me, too.
-
Up In the Air wasn't at all what I expected. Since a lot of it is centered around Omaha (which is very close to us), there were many extra chuckles in the audience about references to Omaha and Nebraska
I had no idea what to expect, and I loved it too. -My own chuckles(?) came from recognizing a lot of those airports.
-
Weird speech.....I like how Quentin always leads the loudest applause for himself and his movies.
-
We are getting very close to a wardrobe malfunction.
Bring it on.

Cher can clearly replace Bebe Newirth in the role of Morticia Addams when the new Addams Family musical comes to NY.

I hope DR elmore and the rest of the Finian's Rainbow gang are partaying like it's 1999. :D

Pants hems closer to right on DiCaprio and Deniro.

On a semi-related tangent... ???
Will Antonio Banderas ever playing a Spaniard on stage?

Picture is even funnier when you know that Clifton Webb was just to Jayne's left.

Leo has pretty eyes.
-
Leo is slapping hell out of James Cameron for sure.
-
Is anybody else going to watch the Golden Globes tonight?
I missed it. I set my DVR to record the rebroadcast on Friday...and can fast-forward through whatever I don't want to see.
-
So where is Jennifer? Is she watching without attending the party?
-
Thanks for letting me pass my wedding pictures around during the Golden Globes par-tay and for all the nice comments on them!
-
Now to go back to page 1 and catch up on all the posts. Today, I ushered for San Francisco Opera's Cinema (filmed) Opera "Samson and Delilah (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/season/season_detail.asp?event_id=1099)." It was quite good and very well filmed. I quite enjoyed it. :)
-
See what I mean....pants too long.
Pants should break at the instep of your shoe, NOT at your ankle.
The "break" no longer comes into play. It's all about the length - as long as it does not catch in the heel of one's shoe, that's all that matters. -At least for "now".
-
DR Ginny - Thank You for sharing your pictures and Your Anniversary with us.
-
Close up of Kyra!
-
Are the awards really this far apart?
-
Finished with disc two of The Sopranos.
-
I guess maybe I'll go put the wet car away.

Governor Arnold looks absolutely EMBALMED.

I think this important fashion joke got lost at the bottom of a page
Jrand - As one of the actors' tailors said when asked what the outfit needed : "A-hem."
-
I'm back - low fat turkey spaghetti sauce with whole grain pasta and a salad which I dressed with some olive oil mayo and seasonings. Very yummy
-
Matthew - You lost me at low fat
-
Crazy baby! Who knew......I still think some of them tonight are TOO long.

I think the low-fat sounds yummy, Matthew.

I didn't need to know that James Cameron really had to go pee.

Best TV Comedy/Musical

Car has been put away, and I'm listening to pretty music. At some point, I'll look at what I wrote earlier. Not sure if I'll hear from muse Margaret - she was busy today, and I have no idea if she'll have time to read tonight, although, of course, I'd much rather hear from her tonight.
-
Yay for Glee!
-
Boy Finn is TALL!!!
-
BK the big break was while they were doing the Cecil B DeMille Award to Martin Scorsese
-
Wake up DR JOSE!
-
Steve Carrell looks kind of sad tonight.
-
I figured DR Jose was Tweeting about Glee
-
As for "Low Fat Mayo"...
Just use less "regular" mayo. -A lot of "low fat" products put too much "other" stuff that just shouldn't be in there in the first place.
*I still get a kick out of some "low(er) fat" products that only have 1 or 2 less fat grams than the "regular" products.
-
Steve Carrell looks kind of sad tonight.
Yeah, he's seemed a little mopey all evening. Hope it's nothing serious.
-
Boy Finn is TALL!!!
Thus his Twitter name: @FrankenTeen
:)
*And I'm still inexplicably intrigued and infatuated with his hair. ::)

Mike Tyson - is that thing a permanent tatoo?

Like, DUH!

The Hangover??? Really?

If there's one thing I will NEVER EVER have it's low-fat mayo and low-fat sour cream. Will not do.
-
Mr. Meryl Streep is taking a nap.

Mike Tyson - is that thing a permanent tatoo?
Yes.

No one is taking these awards seriously, are they?

Mr. Meryl Streep is taking a nap.
LOL....Indiana boy.

I gotta tell you.

Has anyone seen The Hangover?

I think Chloe should have been run out of the business after The Brown Bunny, but Hollywood loves such "daring" behavior.

Don't ask me why, I haven't even seen it, but I really don't want Avatar to win
-
Guess I'm not gonna win....AGAIN!
-
Well, this has been a nice little impomptu partay here tonight.
-
Don't ask me why, I haven't even seen it, but I really don't want Avatar to win
My main reason that I don't want it to win, is that it's going to spawn a whole bunch of wretched copycat movies......I haven't seen it either.....not too interested.
-
Fingers crossed for Basterds.

She should have had her hair done.

Agree with both sentiments.

I'm not interested in Avatar, either.

And now to bed.

Yuck, James Cameron is discussing his bathroom habits again. I really don't want to hear that
-
AVIGDOR

Give it up for yourselves.

Wow it looks like a full house here tonight
-
A shame he doesn't make enough to afford a haircut.
-
Not to change the subject, but DR elmore--how was the final performance of Finian's Rainbow?
-
Great, the west coast hasn't seen the Best Drama yet - now I know!! :(
-
Wow! The show took us all the way to page 18.
And with neary a cranberries.
-
Make that page 19

Tonight's GG par-tay was fun. The 5:30am wake-up call I had this morning has caught up with me, though - 'night!
-
How many Foreign Press members did James Cameron have to F*** to win Best Picture. I Saw Avatar as an okay piece of entertainment it is far the best picture.
And Robert Downey won as a comedy actor. I didn't think Sherlock Holmes was a comedy
-
I just came back from watching my niece skate. My gosh there were so many people at the rink it was crazy. She is taking skating lessons. And has gotten pretty good.
roller or ice?
I don't think there is such thing as roller skating lessons. Ice skating is very big (she is taking ice skating lessons).
-
I only use Hellmann's light (the light blue label). I much prefer it to the others (regular or low fat).
-

I didn't like how the handled the rain during the Red Carpet.
Couldn't they have put a tent up. Or at least a very small covering for where they were doing the interviews. OR at the very least they should have had a big umbrella like Paul McCartney had. It sort of ruined looking at the dresses for me.
My niece called me at 7:45pm and said she was watching a parade. I was wondering what she was talking about then she clarified "a parade of dresses". She was watching the red carpet!
And could i guess her favorite dress. Her favorite color is purple. So she chose sandra bullock's dress!

I'm a bit tipsy from all the wine at the birthday party, but let's talk about the closing today first. The show was stopped five times today and probably lasted about 10 minutes l0onger than usual. the five showstopping moments: "Glocca Morra," "If This Isn't Love," "Necessity," "The Begat," and "When I'm Not Near The Girl I Love." Terri White got a standing ovation from some of the audience at the end of "Necessity" and Chris Fitzgerald's ovation for his number went on so long that he had to carry Susan around the set with Finian following him until they could get back into position to ontinue the scene. As soon as the finale ended the audience rose in unison and the whole bows and exit march were played to a standing ovation. There were funny variations to the bows; tonight rather than just give each other an odd look, Chuck Cooper and David Schramm, as the black and white Senator Rawkins, gave each other a huge hug. I cried at every number and the cast was dynamite as though saying screw you to the naysayers that helped kill such a fantastic production. I sat on the steps to the mezzanine with Warren Carlyle our wonderful director, his girlfriend, Tripp the stage manager, two production assistants and Maia one of our company managers. It was a spectacular exit with panache and artistry.
I then met Bruce Pomahac who was in the audience and we went to dinner at the Westside Diner before heading back to his place to chill out. Ted Chapin joined us there and we headed down to Rob's birthday party on 13th Street at the spectacular Hotel Gansevoort. There were a large number of people I like: Joshie, Kerry O'Malley, Steven Bogardus, David Zellnik, Kate Baldwin, cellist Peter Sachon, Peter Foley, David Gursky, Rob's partner Chase, his parents, a lot of great folk and a few I am not fond of, particularly Ted Sperling, who's only cordial when he feels like it and clearly didn't tonight, and Bruce Coughlin. I really liked talking to Mark Bruni who's directing FANNY for Encores! and several others whom I really cannot name because I'm too tipsy!
-
So where is Jennifer? Is she watching without attending the party?
Yep. My computer and tv are not in the same room!
-
Monique wins best actress for Precious
Supporting Actress, I believe. Not unexpected. And likely the Oscar winner, too.
-
My favorite moments of the awards were:
Meryl Streep winning and her speech.
I was so happy that Glee won.
Also very happy that sandra bullock won (although i have not seen the film she won for).
I liked that michael C hall and john lithgow won for Dexter. I am still reeling from the last show of this season.
-
Toni Collette looks great. I like her, haven't seen that show, but glad she won
She won the Emmy, too. Now if she grabs the SAG next weekend, she'll have the triumverate.
-
OK, as requested, some photos from 29 years ago today. I've not been able to figure out how to use my scanner, so I just pointed the camera at the album - hope they turn out OK:
Nice wedding pictures, Ginny!
-
Dexter, another show I've never seen
Three of the four seasons are available for rental or purchase.
-
Too many men with big beards and long hair. I know some are for roles. But i am not liking any of them (not even george clooney).
I was also happy that julianna margulies won for the Good Wife (even though i like a lot of the women in that category). But i am just really liking the show and think she is great.
-
Dexter, another show I've never seen
Three of the four seasons are available for rental or purchase.
And if you have Showtime, the entire fourth season is currently available on demand.
-
Michael C. Hall announced a few weeks ago that he's undergoing treatment for cancer.
-
Thanks for the report, DR elmore. I so wish I could have been there!
-
I like when the whole country sees the show at the same time! It makes for a good partay here.
For those of you who were watching it live. ::)
;)

Yes, there is.
That's not what i meant to write. I meant to write "i don't think there is such thing as roller skating lessons here". I've never heard of that here. Here if you say you are going skating it is implied that you mean ice skating. I wasn't even thinking when i wrote my original post that anyone would think i meant any other type of skating.
-
Yea! MAD MEN best dramatic series!
Nice!
-
Dexter, another show I've never seen
Three of the four seasons are available for rental or purchase.
Hmmm perhaps I'll put them in my Netflix queue
-
Jessica Lange won the Emmy, so I'm glad Drew won the GOlden Globe. Nice for them to split the awards.

What did people think of ricky gervais as host? It was weird that he was hardly on during the second half.
I thought some of his jokes might have crossed the line of good taste (the mel gibson one). IT was funny but wow.
The beginning i think was too sexual and inappropriate to be at 8pm.
-
Dexter, another show I've never seen

You don't have to -- seasons one and two are available on instant play!!! I just watched all of season one that way last week, and this week will start on season two.
-
I have only seen one nominated film. I am so behind on movie-going.
I've seen "Up" and "Avatar". I was not a huge fan of "Avatar", I think I'm the only one
No, Druxy didn't like it either.
-
Jessica Lange won the Emmy, so I'm glad Drew won the GOlden Globe. Nice for them to split the awards.
I wonder why i thought drew won the emmy. But you're right jessica lange did.
-
Then I'll order the season three DVD's, which are sitting in my queue waiting for me to be ready for them,
-
I haven't seen Mad Men either
Two of its three seasons are available now for rental or purchase.
-
Oh Drat, we missed JRands 40404
The picture can be...forged. ;)

I was disappointed. I do not think he did a good job. I doubt he'll be invited back. They should have just let Conan O'Brien host, and let him rip into NBC for the two hours.

Christolph Waltz....Best Supporting Actor Motion Picture.....well deserved.
I agree, and I think the Oscar for him is also in the bag.
-
Are the supporting actors in two categories, too?
No.
-
Jeff Bridges
Momentum for the Oscar seems to be building for him, too, and losing buzz are George Clooney and Morgan Freeman.
-
I will probably be reviewing AVATAR since it's a Fox release when it comes out on Blu-ray, but that is the only way I'll see it.

Time for me to go to bed. It's been a great weekend off, but I have to get an early start tomorrow
-
While this GG party was going on, I was busy working and enjoying some leisure TV.
I began by finishing the bonus features on PARIS, TEXAS. I really did enjoy these.
-

They actually haven't had a host for more than a decade, and I'm guessing they'll rethink having a host and go without one next year.
-
Go JETS!!!
GO SHARKS!!
;)
-
After I wrote up the bonus features for the review. I watched the men's figure skating finals. After botching his long program last year and winning the title because of his lead from the short program, Jeremy Abbott truly deserved the title this year. He skated beautifully with lots of pinache and a high degree of difficulty. I hope he can hold it together for the Olympics and then the Worlds. (He fell apart at Worlds last year).
Ryan Bradley clearly had the crowd-pleasing skate of the night (he almost always does), and as he's retiring from amateur competition, I will say I'll miss him. He was just too far down the list from a mediocre short program.
Jonny Weir can't seem to skate a clean long program anymore. Like Sasha Cohen, he can be brilliant in the short program, and then he overthinks the long and makes mistakes. A shame. When he's on, he can be an effortless skater.
Evan Lysechek continued his hard-hitting skating style this year, and it was foolish to add that quad to his program (though they said he was hitting it all morning in practice). Still, he did well enough.
I think the three we'll send to the Olympics are our three strongest skaters at the moment if they can only hold their nerves together and perform. I wish them well.
-
Next I watched tonight's premiere of HUMAN TARGET. It was an OK first episode. I wasn't blown away by the action-packed story, and the villains were all too obvious. I'm hoping for something better on Wednesday. The previews looked interesting.
-
And then I ended my evening with tonight's '24' premiere. Two solid hours of good action and some neat twists. Not the most mesmerizing '24' premiere ever, but it certainly held my attention and set up the season more than satisfactorily.

Jeremy Abbott's skating program was a thrill to watch. He performed flawlessly, and completely deserved the win today.

It's still raining. Nothing heavy, but I hope it stops long enough for me to put my car away without getting wet.
It's been raining all day, here...and it's still raining.

Then I watched the marvelous PARIS, TEXAS. Yep, it's a languidly paced film, but it never feels dull to me, and I find the ending both triumphant and tragic at the same time. It's a terrific film.
Funny the things one remembers...
"Paris, Texas" is one of the first movies I remember seeing reviewed on "At The Movies" with Siskel and Ebert.

BK will be very happy that we made it to page 21.

Another funny thing...all the time that "Paris, Texas" was mentioned today, I was actually thinking of the movie, "Happy, Texas." :)

I believe Nine got exactly the number of awards it deserved - 0.

Oh Drat, we missed JRands 40404
The picture can be...forged. ;)
You have skills I never knew about.
I only know what I know. :D

I just got off the phone with muse Margaret and the news was wonderful - she loved it all and went into quite some detail about it. She thought it was funny, touching, and two things made her cry. She had only three little tiny things for me to add, some additional detail and a grammar fix. That was it. Very happy here in the City of Studio.

But what you know you know well.

Although I found THE HANGOVER very funny (and it was a huge hit; the biggest of the nominated comedies), I was actually quite surprised the HFPA didn't go for (500) DAYS OF SUMMER. It's got more of an art house vibe to it that they sometimes like.

Tonight's GG par-tay was fun. The 5:30am wake-up call I had this morning has caught up with me, though - 'night!
Ginny's last post today was her 12929th post...on her 29th Anniversary! ;D
-
HAPPY TEXAS was a very different movie indeed!

Nice!

Now, I need to head downstairs and go to bed. I'm up WAY later than I've been staying up since my trouble this summer, and I need to rest.
Good night!
-
I will say good night, too.
Thanks all for the company tonight.

Translation - they eliminated the egg yolks and compensated for the textural loss by adding cornstarch and beefed up the flavor with much more salt and an added dose of high fructose corn syrup!
And it tastes like UNDERPANTS!
(You can really taste the added, and most unwelcome "sweet".

My niece uses Vegenaise (http://www.followyourheart.com/), a vegan mayo that even I think is not too bad. It does have 9 grams of fat, but there's no cholesterol or carbs and only 85 mg of sodium.
Here are the ingredients (http://www.followyourheart.com/products.php?id=3): Canola Oil, Filtered Water, Apple Cider Vinegar, Brown Rice Syrup, Soy Protein, Sea Salt, Lemon Juice, and Mustard Flour.

Me three.
Goodnight.

Has anyone seen The Hangover?
Not me......but I feel like I have.
I just checked my netflix queue to make sure it wasn't there by mistake.
It's in my Netflix queue. I love Ed Helms...but I've never seen "The Office."
-
Just remembered yet another episode I did in 1973, but I'm not really sure it's even worth mentioning - there's no real interesting story there - maybe I'll just add one sentence, but I really don't think it's necessary to mention every show and every commercial (I'm only mentioning a couple of commercials in detail, when there's an interesting story to go with it).

... instead of mayo on bread i spread a little soft avocado. is avocado on your new diet?
Thanfully, yes - it is a personal favorite. The dieticians should be pleased with one of my favorite lunches - sardines and avacado on whole wheat bread.

They will be less pleased with my favorite breakfast - three poached eggs over heavily buttered wheat toast.
-
I guess I should write some notes.

I do recommend UMCOR as a donation beneficiary. They've been in Haiti for years and years.
Noted - thank you. At only $5 a text my fingers might wear out before they get a decent sum
der Brucer
Hmmm...bet I can make the text donation a speed dial entry

I've written an old pal of mine several times via Facebook to no response. This baffles me and irks me. Since she's on every two minutes I know she's gotten the private and public missives. I just wrote her again and asked her to have the courtesy of letting me know if there's some sort of problem, although I cannot imagine what that might be, since we've had nothing less than pleasant and even nice dealings over the last decade.
If I don't get a response at all, well, let's just say I can be a VERY bad boy in this little book I'm writing. She'll definitely be in the book and I'm not going to be mean or anything, but the details can either be light or heavy and either way will work. Rudeness begets rudeness.
