Well, you've read the notes, the notes were sandy, and now it is time for you to post until the sandy cows come home.

Ha! Agrestic. Are you a "Weeds" fan, perchance?

I know this is a very cliched answer to "favorite French song and singer," but really...who can resist "La Vie en Rose" performed by Edith Piaf? Certainly not I. So that, sir, is my answer.

Tuesday.

Looks to be a lovely day....and even on this second day of the Mercury retrograde, I am going to venture out and see what the world has to offer.

I also love BONES.....I wish the leading lady was a bit prettier, but David B. makes up for a lot of short comings.

Sounds as if MR BK had a lovely time last night.

I only know IRMA L. D. from the movie version.....and since Shirley M. playing kooky and Jack L. in some things for me gets a bit frantic.....I have only seen it once.....and not all the way through.

I disagree completely about Emily Deschanel. I think she's most attractive and playing a nerdy doctor of forensic anthropology, if she were any more glamorous, it would be ridiculous miscasting. I find the combination of her looks and brains, her mastery of her subject matter with her clumsy handling of real-world matters to be completely disarming and appealing. Her looks are (or should be) beside the point.

Once again, my walk and my workout were both out of the questions, so I've been leisurely surfing the net for well over an hour. I'll be glad to get over this latest malady, however. I can FEEL the weight adding on my person as each day passes without real exercise.

I do have new episodes of GLEE and LOST tonight, and I guess I'll record IDOL again though it's mostly out of habit since I'm not really rooting for anyone this season.

I have last night's CASTLE to watch while I eat lunch, and I'll likely watch NURSE JACKIE while I'm cooking lunch. That'll leave the 90-minute DAMAGES season finale to watch at some point today along with (hopefully) THE DESERT SONG in HD.

I'm still wanting to see the early sound version of THE DESERT SONG. There was also a 40s version I've never seen. I wish Warners would release all three in a box set, even if it was just in the Archives releases.

I go along with Maurice Chevalier and his bucketful of hit tunes he introduced during his early heyday in Hollywood: "Mimi," "Louise," "You Brought a New Kind of Love to Me," "Isn't It Romantic." And his song hits in GIGI, too, of course.

Since my back is still very sore and the prospects of being able to do my walk tomorrow morning questionable, I'm leaning toward once again staying up late tonight and watching GLEE after I finish LOST.

If I don't end up having a work project today that would necessitate my posting a review later tonight, that wouold probably clinch the deal and allow me to stay up later than usual.

Good morning, all! A day with OZ and Cinderella. I have some "Lady of the Slipper" work and more WIZARD OF OZ edits. My canceled luncheon date is set for 1 pm today, and I look forward to catching up on things with my friend Daniel Neer, whom I've not seen since last August's round of ill health.

DR MattH, I agree with you about Miss Deschanel; I think she is perfection as Temperance Brennan. I'm sorry, DR JRand59, I think she's quite beautiful. You just want Diane McBain in the role and I suspect you'd be happier if BONES were a 1960s Warner Brothers production with McBain and Van Williams in the roles. :)

French singers: Jacques Brel, although he's actually Belgian, Georges Guetary, and Edith Piaf. I love Chevalier in films and their soundtrack recordings, but he's not someone for whom I'd particularly seek out a solo CD. On the classical side, Natalie Dessay, Yvonne Printemps, Mady Mesple, Lily Pons, Liliane Berton, Michel Dens.

"Le Marseillaise" is probably my favorite French tune.   Not as "spoken" by Ginger Rogers in "The Barkleys of Broadway", however.

I'm very fond of the performance of one Mssr. Georges Guetary in "An American in Paris" in the 'I'll Build A Stairway to Paradise" number.

Is "C'est Si Bon" a French song?  I love Streisand's performance of it.

I've had an incredibly long morning.  I decided that I was well enough to go to the office, but I also decided that I should first go to my doctor's office to get my six-month bloodwork done.  So I drove out to his office (one half hour in one direction), then drove to my train station in Collingswood NJ (45 minute drive), only to find no parking available.  So I drove to the next station down the line (five minute drive) and was able to find parking right next to the station door (though I had to pay $1 for the privilege.)  Then the 30 minute train ride to Philly and then the other 30 minute train to Conshohocken.  Then another half hour chit-chatting with everyone telling them about my long morning.  Sheesh...

I'm back from a lovely two-hour lunch. I had chili in honor of this week's topic and a side order of fantastic mac & cheese. I went to the market for oatmeal and there was none to be had for ready money. I need to make a stop at another market. Later.

A couple of years ago, Diane McBain was teaching acting at a school in San Francisco.  Don't know if that gig is continuing or not.

I just spoke to Diane and, as I suspected, she has never taught acting in San Francisco or anywhere else.

Could you be thinking of Barbara Bain?

Deanna would be fine....anything that sounds like an old 78 rpm record.

I just emailed you Nick Lucas' recording.

Would you believe that Nick Lucas was one of my very first publicity clients?

If Nick had been smart and played his cards right, he would have co-starred opposite Ruby Keeler in 42ND STREET and all those other WB films.

Cecilia could certainly set her spin on it for sure.

DR ELMORE's from Nick Lucas was terrific.....Deanna's leaves out the introduction verse so that we can start right with the chorus....and the Lombardo is a nice instrumental.

I can use them all!

Thanks!

Is anybody here familiar with a 1960s-70s lounge singer, Misty Moore?

She had a LP record, at one point, and also played Las Vegas.  Her manager was Joe Graydon,  who she later married (briefly, I think).

I'm just curious to know what ever happened to her.

Today has been a negative five day.  When I woke up this morning my back was really bad, but I was determined to go to work.  So, I got in the shower, and when I got out, as I was drying off;  I realized that my MRSA had returned.

So, I went back to bed and put heat on the MRSA.  It now looks like I might have nipped it in the bud.  It is still painful, but it is not nearly as red as it was this morning.  I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Oh, and my back is still hurting.

I ate 2 clementines, 1 yogurt and a big spoon of peanut butter before i left. But it totally wasn't enough. For the first time riding i was dragging. I knew i needed to eat before riding. But i didn't realize how much it would hurt not to eat more.

My guess is that it was photographed - and shared among friends - and got into the hands of others and then distributed world wide through emails and newsgroups - it was forwarded to me in a Yahoo group.

Safe in public?  And it did take place in a public place with a lot of people standing around....so no, no one is safe in public.

I just watched the BONES IN THE UK 2-parter; I thnk it's the weakest of all the episodes I've seen' there were funny moments and I liked the stuff going in in the US, like the Angela-Hodgins breakup, but I found the writing for London not so good and not the right tone for Booth and Brennan behavior outside their home base. Too bad.

Nice review!

From the review:
Quote
The large cast included some performers playing smaller roles that only accentuated their limitations.

Ouch!

That was the same thought I had when I read the review! LOL!

Hector Penate, the guy who says he's having a "full-blown affair" [TCB, any comments?] with Larry King's wife, doesn't look like any Hector I've ever seen.

Let me google-image him for you.

If I knew a Hector, that is the one I would like to know!

Jose do you ahave any thoughts abou the new La Cage ?  The Vixter is anxious to see it.  I am a  great fan of both the original movie  and the 1980's production  but  I have been wary of this latest incarnation - what do you  hear?

I haven't seen it yet myself, but...

The NY Times really liked it, and most everyone I know who saw it in previews really liked it too.  In fact, it practically received raves across the board.  -Just be sure to see it before Kelsey Grammer switches parts once Douglas Hodge leaves.  I have a feeling that that's going to be a totally different show.

The meeting was very interesting.  HWHC let me send him all these great ideas and he made them sound like they were new etc...well luckily I was there to listen because they were all either in progress or have been tried before.  There are some that are new, but not really.  I am still in for doing the design review standards.  I'm in way over my head, but that's ok, I'll figure it out as I go along.

My DSL was out all afternoon and early evening, so that's why I haven't been on until now, not that anyone noticed.

I did get a UPS delivery this morning, so it ended up not being a day off after all. Tomorrow, however, should be a free day.

While I was fixing lunch, I watched NURSE JACKIE. An OK episode this week, but Dr. Cooper is really funny and becoming my favorite cast member.

While I ate lunch, I watched last night's CASTLE. Good mystery, and the new love interest for Beckett is very nice. It's going to be fun seeing Castle squirm with him around.

I did have a great time talking to the other people on the coalition.  Unfortunately I decided to get involved right at them time of the big neighborhood clean-up.  So...guess I'll be picking up trash on Saturday

Continued PAIN-BE-GONE VIBES to MATTH, TCB, JANE, VIXMOM, and anyone else in need.

Then I watched CRAZY HEART on Blu-ray for my work project. Good performances from all three leads (even if Maggie's accent seems to veer all over the place). I was impressed with Jeff Bridges and especially Colin Farrell's voices. When they do a duet midway through the movie, it's sensational and easily the best thing in the movie.

The rest is fairly predictable stuff, and if you've seen TENDER MERCIES, it'll certainly seem familiar though the endings are different.

Thank you, DR Jeanne. Though there is still soreness there, I'm happy to say I have been in much less pain today. As always, it takes three or four days for this to work its way out of my lower back.

There were only a few bonus features on the CRAZY HEART disc: some deleted scenes (one of which was REALLY good, the meeting of father and son; be sure to watch it if you rent or buy the disc), a brief three minute interview with the stars, and the trailer. That's it!

I also had time to watch that BONES episode with the frightful scare at the end and the discovery of another Gormogon skeleton.

DR JENNIFER, the original book, STRETCHING, is the one I had in mine. I'm not familiar with the one geared to computer use, and the stretches I'm thinking of for your low back may not be in there. When I was going through the worst of my back problems I wouldn't even think of skipping my stretches. They really were a big help. The fact that your back feels better after exercise indicates that you need to stretch more often.

After not being able to get on-line and simply writing my review up and then heading back down, I began with last night's DAMAGES season finale. Sensational wrap-up with lots of surprises.

Unquestionably the best season for the show.

I watched Sunday night's THE TUDORS, the second episode of the season. At least the ulcer in Henry's leg is starting to age him and slow him down, and Catherine Howard is looking around to find someone to dally with.

For me, I get really scared because I needed to upload this review since CRAZY HEART came out today (and I just got it today). It's very frustrating. And I never know WHY it goes out. Only happens a couple of times a year, but it always freaks me out when it does this.

Ben thankyou for posting that link- have you been to seen the show yet?

Hey, Deb,

I forgot which link I posted. It's been a long day. I had to go back and check. Yes, I've seen the show (twice, both on discount tickets). There is a lot to like about it and some quite wonderful things but I don't love it the way I wanted to love it. Sometimes the video gets in the way, even though the video is of Sondheim himself speaking about his work. I love Tom Wopat and think he's sexy as all get out but he's not a natural fit for Sondheim and his Sweeny bit doesn't quite work for me. I do think it's worth seeing, especially if you're a Sondhead, like me, but it's not perfect (not that I expected it to be).

La Cage is worth seeing also, mainly for Mr. Hodge's performance. I was pleasantly surprised by Mr. Grammer. I was very, very leery of seeing it when I heard this bit of stunt casting but he does a very good job. He had a few pitch problems the night I saw it but overall he pulled it off. That being said, I can't imagine him playing Albin. If the show runs 6 months and Hodge goes back to London and KG does take over, well, as Jose said, it will be a completely different show and I don't know if I mean that in a good way.

It's good that you can see a pattern to it, and, in your case, that the end of it is near.

SPARTACUS - each of the last few episodes was more and more a bloodbath, and the season finale was REALLY over the top. Gag!

Then I watched GLEE and enjoyed it.

I especially loved the three couple counterpoint to "Like a Virgin" and Kurt and Mercedes' song with the Cheerios.

Of course, IDOL ran over, so I didn't get to see the sing off in the parking lot. I could KILL the producers of IDOL.

From now on, I'll watch GLEE "live" and then watch LOST afterwards.

The senior situation is still evolving.  It turns out I was stabbed in the back by someone I never would have guessed, but it's all becoming too sadly clear.  I'll guide them through the next few weeks privately and then let the senior center deal with the person who thinks he knows how it should be done.  ;)

JMK - Not really meaning this as funny even though it sounds a little silly - but does that mean you were stabbed in the back behind your back?

Or does "stabbed in the back" already carry the implication that it was behind your back?
