Well, you've read the notes, the notes were brainy and brief, and now it is time for you to post until the brainy cows come home.

I can't believe that I'm still up.  Today's Pre-Show HHW Get-Together with BK, David Wechter, TCB, MBarnum and Ann (and me) at The Urban Onion was delightfully delightful!  We chatted and talked and gabbed and then some.  Here is a picture of me, MBarnum and David Wechter:

I left the gang at about 6:30.  My call time was supposed to be 6:00...fortunately, no one complained when I got to the theater late, though. ;) We had a great audience.  I have to admit that many of us were peeking at the audience (well, at BK and David) from off-stage every chance that we could get.  I never saw BK or David without a smile every time that I was able to peek!  It was fun watching them watch us! ;D

After the show, we had a short talkback with the audience (and a question or two from the cast), then a bunch of the cast, band and crew walked to a local restaurant called Ben Moore's.  TCB wasn't able to join us at Ben Moore's, but MBarnum and Ann did.  A good time was had by all...who were there...and who got what they ordered.  MBarnum ordered a cup of decaf coffee and wanted to order a piece of pie, but the woman only took his coffee order ("It's still brewing") and he never got the chance to order his pie.  I must admit that she was the only wait-person there, and most everyone else got their drinks...but still....  We chatted and chatted and Josh our director made a toast and then BK, David, Ann and MBarnum had to leave.  We said our good-byes, then about eight of us went to another place for food.  I had "Cajun-ized" tater-tots and they were good!  We stayed there for about an hour or so, eating and chatting some more, then we all left and went to our respective homes.

Strangely enough, I actually feel quite good. Not tired. Not sleepy. Not sleep deprived.  Of course, I guess the fact that I actually was asleep in bed by 12:30am probably had something to do with that.

DR MattH I don't watch FLASHPOINT. But i have seen season 2 on here for what seems like forever. So i just glanced at the ctv.ca website (the canadian channel where it is aired).

It shows that there are 22 episodes for Season 2. So why does the dvd only have 9 episodes?

Those were the only episodes CBS broadcast here in the States, and since CBS/Paramount is releasing the DVD set, enough said.

Good morning!

The cooler temperatures we were expecting didn't show up. It was fairly tepid out on my walk this morning (and I started it about 6:45 at that). Thankfully there was a delicious breeze throughout the first third of the walk. Of course, that's the easy part. I could have used it during the final third which is almost all uphill.

Since I was running ahead of schedule, I put in TOY STORY 2 on Blu-ray and began rewatching it. I had been wanting to do this for ages, but with a little break today from reviewing, I thought it'd be a fun way to start this morning. It was. I really do love this movie.

I am looking forward to the cookout late this afternoon. It'll be nice to get out of the house for an extended period and talk to some folks I don't often see except at parties. It's going to be a small gathering (my favorite kind), so it'll be fun conversing and eating (can't forget about that!).

Good morning, all! I slept late, had a few bizarre dreams, and here I am, ready to tackle more Oz and Toyland issues! I'm also in the midst of identifying unmarked John McGlinn CDs, which I either discard if it's of no value, download into my iTunes if it's a performance I don't already have, or , in the case of session recordings and radio interviews, I put it into the pile of things along with the downloaded CDs to go to the Library of Congress per his will. A lot of CDs have turned out to be blank, but I have zillions to go through.

The photos of last night's gathering look great. I wish I could have been there.

Good morning all.
We had a wonderfully wonderful time last night seeng Brain. I was totally new to the show so I was able to hear everythng for the first time, and I loved it all. The songs are clever and catchy and the book is hilarious! I thought the Olympia people did a marvelous job.  DR George was great, of course. I thought the Joyce in particular was truly amazing. All in all, I laughed, I chuckled, I gaffawed, I think I even giggled a few times, and loved every minute.

Seeing BK, TCB, MBarnum, and George was perfectly delightful. It was great to reconnect with some dear HHW people again.  There truly is something special about the people here. I also very much enjoyed meeting David, who was quite charming and pleasant.  I had a delicious chicken cesear salad for dinner, and sadly no dessert after the show...but that's probably all the better for my waist line.

All in all, a great time was had!

Just out of bed, and getting ready to head off to help a friend celebrate her birthday.

Last night was a delightfully delightful evening!  Dining with MBarnum, George, Ann, and our special guests BK and David Wechter was most wonderful.  The food was good, the conversation better, and all too soon it was time to head down the street to the theater.  THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X was very amusing, and our own DR George was was very very very (that is 3 verys) good.  After the show David and BK held a brief talkback with the audience and the cast.  Then I had to wuss out, rather than join the after-theater hijinks.  I took a few photos after the show, but I will have to try and download them later.

And best of all, I got my own copy of BK's book, which I can't wait to start reading.

Oh what a night!  Glad to hear that the "Brain" gathering went well.  Rent is going well and is winding down.  2 more shows to go.  Love the show, the experience, the cast, but will love putting it to bed as well.  On to other (not necessarily bigger and better) things.  Looks like it's kids from now until August when Sunset Blvd auditions.  (except for some pit work - Little Shop... and La Cage...)   Still waiting for bk's book, but like DR Ginny, I ordered later, so I'm hoping it comes soon.

How can you tell the difference between a spam friend recommendation & the real thing?

A couple of clues are when you've never heard of the person/entity being recommended ;), and when said person/entity either has very few friends, or none or close to none of any of your friends.   I shall await TD's clarification on the matter.  ;)

Well, I went back to my old typing habits a while after i started feeling a little better yesterday (I guess intentionally to test it), and the pain I thought was a pinched nerve seems to have returned.  Guess it is computer-use-related, as much as I hated to accept that.  :(

Yesterday was a long day and I stayed up much too late after the show and didn't get enough sleep and now I have to go to work for a while.  AND I still have a show tonight, then a matinee tomorrow...then only a couple of days off before our pay-what-you-can performance on Wednesday. :)

I am writing you this mail, I dont need your pity, but love to my adopted son.
I adopted him at the age of 3year and has since became my beloved one
because my wife did not born,i mean barren.

It will be a surprise how i can contact a stranger that i dont know before but
there is nothing i can do at this stage than to hope in Almight God that my
son will not fall into wrong hand

Because of this the family treated her badly and give her no rest that she is
the one that did not allow me to marry another woman that will born for me.
She was later poison by unknow person and died.

Because we married legally,i refused to marry again and this make my family
to rise against my adopted son which i protect very well.

Since af ter this painful and sorrowful inccident of my wife,my cancer sickness
got worst and i have been suffering from heart failure .

My reason of writing you this mail is due to the sad news that came to me
recently from the doctor. After my last diagnose result, it was proved by the
doctors that i may not leave for more than two to three weeks if i am lucky ,
due to the damange the cancer have caused in my system unless I undergo
an urgent surgical operation which my chance of survival is less than 20%
according to the medical experts. As it stands, I have given to faith.

But i have a more concern problem, that is why i have contacted you. Please, this
is about my adopted son.Since it is now obvious that i will die, my son's future
have been the greatest problem i have.I want you to take care of my son
please. He is only 13 years and i have no person here to take care of him if I
die t oday.

My family may kill him as they kill my wife, because i feel so.I have some money
in a deposit house , which we intended to use for investment in europe.I want
you to take this money and my son.

Use the money into a big investment, that you will manage until my son grows up
to take over the investment.I will like you to take my son as your own son, give
him the love that we his parents would have given him. Do not let him feel the
pains of being an orphan. give him good education, bring him up into a
responsible man. Make him have the fear of God.

Please do not refuse this task. As soon as I receive your reply, all i
will do is to look for a lawyer here, who will draw up my will in your favour.

The fund is is US$8.5million I will give you all the documents that is covering
the deposit with the deposit house, i will transfer eve ry power and right of
ownership to you to enable you claim the deposit from the deposit house.

It will be also included in the Will that you are the only person my son should
be released to, if i die and you are entitle to 20% of the fund.
All i need is your acceptance and assurance that you will not treat my son
badly.I am writing you this mail with great tears and i pray you to be kind in

Wonder if bitchiness uses more intense movements or something.

The Super Bowl commercial.

"Just then, ambulatory legend Betty Buckley—who's by far the best thing in The Happening—showed a good sense of humor about being called "a hot box of crazy" in [show], though she wasn't totally sure what that meant. So...

A friend of mine was in town today with his students - they were all on a class trip.  They spent the morning at MoMA. and then went to see the matinee of Promises, Promises.  It turned out he had some extra tickets, so I tagged along too.

It was good, but it could have and should have been much better.  I liked Sean Hayes, but felt he was (still) afraid of singing, that he was trying to sing "pretty" rather than "correct.  Consequently, there was a tenuousness to his singing, nothing every really hit the mark.  *I kept wondering how Brooks Ashmanksas would have been as a C.C. Baxter. As for Kristin Chenoweth, well, she was good, but has been mentioned elsewhere, she's miscast.  And the addition of "I Say A Little Prayer For You" and "A House Is Not A Home" really do stick out like a sore thumb, and totally contradict her character's, well, character.

I really was also a bit surprised to see that the choreography was as generic and serviceable as others have been saying.  There were a few neat "tricks", but tricks aren't choreography. And as for "Turkey Lurkey Time", well... There was a bit of excitement due to the earrings and bracelets of one of the dancers coming off.  However, she did manage to pick up said items and then toss them to Phil Reno in the pit.

Oh...

And Katie Finneran really does walk away with the show.

Oh...

And the time shift back to 1962 also "caused" some interesting rewrites.  Alas, some of those rewrites were in the form of self-knowing jokes, "winks".  -Which made me wonder, "Why didn't you just keep the show in 1968-69?"

Oh...

And as for Jonathan Tunick's Orchestrations... Most of it did sound like his originals, but there was a slew of new material - The Overture, some transitions, the two incorporated songs, the Entr'acte, the Bows - so maybe there was enough new material to warrant the Tony nomination.

And, alas, he's kind of wasted as Mr. Dobitch.  -Which is pronounced as "DOUGH-BITCH", not "DEW-BITCH". ;)

I think it's detestable that you've transmogrified so many HHW-ers into kitties.  Now the posting count is going to be even lower.  ;)

I'm thinking that St. Joseph might be suffering from Alzheimer's.  We have been unable to sell our house, but my "on a lark" for rent post yesterday on CL has led to a deluge, including a family moving here from Phoenix who have just offered to lease it for 18 months without ever having seen it.  ???

Mostly lovely pictures, DR GEORGE....thanks for the prompt posting.  Everyone looks as if they are having a lovely time - and Mr BK and Mr Wechter look most fetching in their theatre attending garb.

DR MBARNUM what is that design on your shirt?  Most interesting.  Sorry you didn't get your pie, but at least you saved that money.

I didn't get my coffee, either!

Hmmm...I don't know what to say about the design on the shirt. It is some sort of retro 1950s design.

And I am back at home! Bosco was very pleased to see me. Freddy left a large hairball in the living room

And on a related note...

There was article posted on Newsweek.com written by Ramin Setoodeh:

Straight Jacket
Heterosexual actors play gay all the time. Why doesn't it ever work in reverse?

The article has prompted many responses, including this one by Kristin Chenoweth:

JMK - Had I bored you with, I mean shown you, the opening panel of my Nancy Pelosi & co. Scott Brown parody number, which pays proper homage to Brooks A on the opening panel.

Olympia, Washington is the most delightful place! Or at least the downtown area is! The have saved so much of the old architecture, maybe all of it. Today was such a beautiful sunny day that after I had the hotel's complimentary breakfast I spent over 2 hours exploring down town, and even crashed the Yacht Club's annual open season party being held at the marina.

I took a lot of snaps and will post them tomorrow. I am one exhausted earth person right now (on my way back, I stopped to visit a number of my favorite retail establishments in Portland...but happily refrained from buying anything...but it certainly added to my loooong day.)

GO BETTY WHITE!!!!

:) :) :) :) :)

-Truly one of the BEST SNL's ever.

-And I can't wait to see what the ratings are for tonight's episode.

PS: Like Bk, I also was unable to get the internet at the Hotel to work. I eventually gave up.

I also learned to next time make sure that my room is not right next to the elevator...man that thing makes quite a loud sqeek..all...night...long! (aside from that the room was nice)
