But most shows on these speciality channels are available on other Canadian channels.
We get Top chef, top chef masters, the next food network star on Food network canada.
We get White collar on bravo canada.
We get Royal Pains on Citytv.
We get Project Runway on Slice.
The only problem is that sometimes these canadian stations do not air the shows at the same as in the US. Sometimes they do. And sometimes we are off by a few days or weeks. But they don't make their schedules in advance it seems.
If I had that much trouble finding shows to watch I suspect I would stop watching tv.
Jose, Doug says hi! I had a Gobbler on Friday afternoon after work. Mmm, mmm, mmm.
DR Jane to answer your question from last night. Yes I get cable. And yes i get a lot of extra channels. But the speciality channels in the US (like TNT, USA, Showtime, US Bravo...) are not available in Canada. I am pretty sure that nobody in canada can get these stations (or at least i've never heard of anybody who can get these specific stations).
We get ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN and some other american channels. But for some reason not those speciality channels. Although like i said last night. Most US shows are available here even if they are on those speciality channels. They are just carried on Canadian stations.
Hope that made sense.
And the word of the day is: BALLETOMANE!

Thanks, Ben. I <3 Doug. Alas, Doug's ever-lovin' Bryan <3's him too. ;)
TOD: I really don't see much point in buying cast recordings in languages I don't understand. I think I have few British cast recordings, but nothing other than that.
Very interesting, DR Jose. Was Jeremy one of the featured guests, in the band, or in the audience? We enjoyed the program very much!
DR elmore - And speaking of your colleague, Curtis, I happened to run into him at yesterday's "Free for All" concert at Town Hall. The featured guests were Stephanie Blythe and Warren Jones. It was quite a wonderful program. The centerpiece was a set of 12 Emily Dickinson poems set by James Legg - whom I believe you may have known (too).
In continuing It's An Honor Just to Be Nominated (since I don't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning) news, I have been nominated for an OTAS Award for MDing The Producers. If I get a Drammy nom, I'll be three for three.
One show that i'm not sure anyone here watches, IN PLAIN SIGHT starts here tonight. I believe it is on USA network and started a few weeks ago in the US. I really like this show.

I dimly recall seeing a Japanese FIDDLER ON THE ROOF back in the LP days. I would have liked to have heard that one...I do have that one. If I ever convert it to CD, I'll send you a copy.
TOD: I really don't see much point in buying cast recordings in languages I don't understand.
Well, then, no RENT for you.

I love HOW CAN I KEEP FROM SINGING? I have done several spectacularly beautiful arrangements through the years.Happy news, indeed.

Let me put this forth, as it's one of the reasons that I do enjoy foreign language recordings:
Music, like love, is a universal language; if done properly many shows should be listenable in any language whether they were originally conceived in Esperanto, Dutch, Italian or French.
That said, I'm the guy who has multiple recordings, in many languages of:
BLOOD BROTHERS
TITANIC - the Dutch cast has been mentioned, but there is also a very good recording from Hamburg in German.
DR Ron Pulliam - Look sideways.
;)
Or.. <3 = <heart> As in "I <3 New York".
*In some programs, it will actually produce a "heart" dingbat: ♥

I am really not too sure about Elaine Stritch in that part. Billy might be better.

For anyone other than vixmom who may have gotten a Facebook message from me saying I am sad....I am not sad.

It's a lot less Stockholm and a little more Hoboken in concept now.

There were some wonderful moments at this afternoon's memorial service: Rebecca Luker sang a glorious "How Could I Ever Know" from THE SECRET GARDEN, and she and George Dvorsky closed the service with the moving duet from BRIGADOON, "From This day On." My friend Jeanne looked wonderful and the church was packed with people. There were tons of friends at the reception after, and it was great to see so many people I like and care about. I hadn't seen the wonderful conductor Jack Lee in several years and we're going to meet soon for a snack and gossip. I was really happy to see a friend from my dinner theatre actor days, Michael Hayward Jones, with whom I last worked at Goodspeed in 1998. Michael had been in A TALE OF TWO CITIES, which I saw, but we hadn't visited in 12 years. I also saw friends from the NYC Gay Community Marching Band and the Men's Chorus, Donna Lynne Champlin and her new husband, Danny Burstein, who is so wonderful as Luther Billis that I am ecstatic his performance will be committed to video, Mrs Ron Raines aka Dona D Vaughn, mother of my beloved goddaughter, and a lot of others. Thanks for the update. But I thought Danny Burstein was married to Rebecca Luther. Am I wrong? Is that over?
I just had a half of a sub and potato salad for dinner, and I will now open today's mail and chill out.
DR Elmore - thanks for sharing about the memorial service. Those events are so important to the surviving family and friends and it sounds like this one was truly a celebration for Mr. French.
Speaking of my beloved goddaughter, she just got a full summer scholarship to Shakespeare and Company. I am thrilled for her.Congrats to her.

Danny is married to Rebecca. Did I imply otherwise? I hope I didn't!
I had a great time visiting with Rebecca, Danny, George, and Donna Lynne and Andy, her new husband whom she met on match.com; I told it was thrilling to see desperation end so happily. Andy is great and he clearly has as wonderful a sense of humor as Donna Lynne.

I also forgot I have the Vienna cast album of THE SOUND OF MUSIC.
DR Kevin H, here's a German music shop specializing in cast recordings. There are a ton of SOUND OF MUSIC recordings from the Netherlands, Japan, Stockholm, Vienna, etc.

To be punctuationally correct (and anal retentive), I think that this is the way that it should be punctuated:QuoteI also saw friends from the NYC Gay Community Marching Band and the Men's Chorus; Donna Lynne Champlin and her new husband; Danny Burstein, who is so wonderful as Luther Billis that I am ecstatic his performance will be committed to video; Mrs Ron Raines aka Dona D Vaughn, mother of my beloved goddaughter; and a lot of others.

I spoke with WFO & Joe this evening they are doingreasonably well - they have very kind neighbors and a visiting nurse
