So I get a member request from someone wanting to join our merry troupe.  As I always do, I sent an e-mail to the address from whence the request came and welcomed the person and said they'd have to hit "reply" so I know it's not a spambot, which most of these things are.  So, an hour ago I got an e-mail saying it was definitely not a spambot.  But something about the "name" smelled fishy, so I looked up the original e-mail address to which I'd sent my e-mail - something about it seemed familiar and I thought I knew what it was - so I did a little research, did a little Google detective work and found I was absolutely correct and it was our very own 3D Diffusion.  Nice try, though.  I did write her back asking if we might have a civil e-mail conversation so we could maybe figure out why she feels she must do the things she does - I'm genuinely baffled by it and would be interested to know the story so that maybe we could talk through it.  I don't think she'll do it, but I suppose you never know.

TOD: "Turkey Lurkey Time," but not as song in the current revival. The song is a joke but not a funny one when you play it as a joke. So, as sung by a chorus of bimbos who sound as if they just sucked helium, the song falls flat on its face. No laughter. No showstopper.

I'm also fond of the rest of the "Promises" score and "Do You Know the Way to San Jose?" Also really like "They Don't Give Medals (To Yesterday's Heroes)" from "On the Flip Side."

Tuesday morning greetings!  Today is "return to Ohio" day for Mom and me.  We've had a fun couple of days with Laura, but she needs to get back to work.  We're waiting for the fog to lift before we head east.

TOD (and apropos to above):  "Knowing When to Leave."  I also like the instrumental "Pacific Coast Highway."

Good morning, all! I slept very well and I'm ready for whatever fresh hell comes in today.

BK, I love you dearly, but your continued comments on this last assistant make me want to slap you for being so pathetic at personnel management:
    1. you have no address for her?
    2. you've been "helping her out" and she's had "personal probems"?
    3. she seems to be a problematic liar?
    4. possible criminal inclinations because she's a mess?

Where did you find her?  FLAKES R US?  The next time you hire an assistant, on the books or off, I suggest you obtain a set of references so that you check up on the potentail employee before hiring anyone, a completely filled-out application with all pertinent rinformation such as an address or social security number, someone who's not an actress, someone with as little personal baggage as possible; you're hiring someone to work for you, not cry on your shoulder.

As I said, I love you, but this is ridiculous. She could be one of the guests, reading everything you're posting about her. What if she throws away your business papers? Doesn't Kritzerland have an attorney or an adviser for any legal problems? Your first problem is a basic one: you don't have her address!

END OF RANT

TOD:   So very many, but a particular favorite....

"Everybody's Out of Town"

Where have the people gone
Seems like there's no one hangin' on
Look through the window
The houses are empty
Hey, everybody's out of town
Seems like I'm the only one around.

All of the streets are bare
No traffic tie-ups anywhere
Don't have to wait for a seat at the movie
Hey, everybody's out of town
Seems like, I'm the only one around.

Everyone's moved out
from the ghetto
Lots of space
Empty apartments
No more pollution
Plenty of classrooms everyplace
And it looks like we're ready
To give it one more try
This time there'll be no alibi
I'm gonna send out a message to Noah
Hey, better send some people down
Everyone on earth,
Is out of town

I got to Toyland and found messages from Fed Ex. The first from Tyrone, who told me he was trying to reach my colleague Curtis to deliver two packages, he rattled off a tracking number so quickly I had to listen to hte message 3 times to write it down along with a phone number and extension. The second mesdsage, from another day, was a young lady from Fed Ex with the same info.

I called the number back and was told the phone number, indeed Fed Ex, was not what I should be calling and that the packages in question were going to Canada. So I called the Fed Ex 800 number and learned that the phone calls were made in May and that the packages were being returned to the shipper in Virginia. I went ballistic because of the following: neither Fed Ex caller left a date for the phone call, no one ever tried to deliver these cartons to the office or left a delivery attempt notice. So, i just got off the phone with our order person in Los Altos, and she will deal with getting our storage boxes delivered,

The helper is not reading this site.  The helper has apologized and tells me I'll have the invoices today.  I have been nothing but nice to the helper, and even though my frustration level has been high over the last five days, I have not berated her or left her angry messages - I've been strong but nice in my dealings with her.  Yes, I should have gotten her address, but even if I had it I wouldn't go over there knocking on her door because that would not be good behavior or the right thing to do.  If the invoices aren't returned today, then the next step will be determined.  The apology seemed heartfelt and she explained what's been going on in a brief way.

And now I am waiting to call Apple - you can't get through to their regular number because today people are reserving the new iPhone - you also cannot reserve through the website because their servers are going ballistic trying to handle all the traffic.

But I have the number of the technician who helped me yesterday - I think he comes in at ten.  While we solved the Internet connection problem, in doing all these resets something has happened to the Time Machine backups, which are not being performed and haven't been all day yesterday.  So, got to fix that, and the fact that my screen saver is also not working - it just goes to a black screen.  I checked on those preferences and they look fine to me so maybe I just have to restart the computer.  I don't want to do that until the tech is on the phone, however.

I had to go through some hoops to get Apple on the phone.  I went to Google to search the backup problem and the first thing I clicked on was on the Apple page - it didn't answer my prob but there was a form there to be connected instantly on the phone to a technician.  I did the form, got a call, fixed the screen saver thing (which had gone back to its default settings) and then he switched me over to a Time Machine expert - when reconfiguring the Time Machine yesterday (and renaming it), it de-selected the device in the Time Machine backup.  All I had to do was select the device, put in my password, and voila.

No invoices yet - and I gave her the opportunity to drop them off at Hugo's, too.  We'll see how today plays out and then I'll have to figure out what's next if she doesn't get them here today.

I am beginning to feel like a victim on PUNK'D.  It is pouring down rain torrentially here, so I have spent the last hour in the leaking mudroom exploring every nook and cranny (and also every crook and nanny), without a drop to be seen.  Yet I know when I return later there will be a pool of water at the lowest point.

My feeling is probably exaggerated by my having gotten the 10 DVD set of CANDID CAMERA over the years, in order to share it with the kids.  The temp service I managed once provided temps to Mr. Allen Funt (we saved the check).  It was during his early cable phase when he was doing naughtier bits.  We were asked to select uptight secretary types and tell them they were going to be part of a market research group for a new air freshener.  We sent them to a nice hotel in Vancouver, Washington, where they were told to spray various air fresheners and give their opinion.  As they were doing that, a naked man walked in and started doing push-ups.  :)

Off to the 5th grade "clap out" for Zach.  His official graduation ceremony was this morning.  It was extremely moving as they paid homage to one of his classmates, a sweet little girl who has endured two years of surgeries and much suffering due to a tumor on her brainstem.  They've removed most of the tumor, but she had a stroke during the second surgery and has paralyzed vocal chords and is walking only with the aid of a walker.  Two other girls read a very moving section of her blog today.  I was a basket case by the time it was over.

It is baffling.  Do you know who she is?

I'm still in shock over the 3DDiffusion news. Why do you want to be a member of a club that clearly doesn't want you?

You have that out of order, why would you want to be a member of a club when you so clearly dislike the leader of the club.

BTW, I don't dislike her, I feel sorry for her.  Personally I felt it would have been better to have ignored her posts than to have commented on them.  I'm in full agreement she was removed altogether.

Some girl just dropped off a box of invoices at my door and told me to give them to whatshisname.

Yes, I'm back!  Our drive home was pretty smooth and we had a nice lunch stop at The Sherman House in Batesville, IN.  We made a small adjustment in our route to Mom's in order to drive past the ruins of "Touchdown Jesus."  News vans from 2 Cincinnati TV stations were on the road with us.  Got Mom all settled and came home in time to be here when the new (to us) loveseat was delivered.  I'm pretty tired tonight and will probably go to bed early.

I don't know if I mentioned on here before, but last Wednesday we had a gulley-washer come through in the late afternoon.  I was already home when the rain hit, but my co-workers started getting phone calls from the Security Guards telling them that they might want to move their cars and quickly.

This was outside of our parking garage (the loading dock is in the center).

I'm sure he could tell it was sort of a ruse because he finally yelled "Hi Neighbor!" and introduced himself.  He seems like a nice guy, around my age.  His dad stopped by while we were talking and he introduced him too. Seemed like a nice guy.  He told me that the previous owner was not willing to negotiate much at all even though there is a lot that needs to be done to the house.

He gave me a tour today.  Let's just say it's far from move in ready.  He's doing a ton of work he hadn't thought about doing before.  He was asking what I would do with different rooms, it was fun to give him my opinion.  He's started watching HGTV.  I've got to get him into the color shows.  He's an all walls white guy right now and it could look a lot better.

You did mention it DR TCB.  Without the photos I didn't realize how flooded the area was.  You are very lucky your car wasn't there.

Scottsdale oozed up to the mountains.

There are preserves around some of the mountains, but they weren't able to get all the land before the developers bought it up and started building houses there.

Well, the yard work needed to be done, that was real.  I was going to go over there when I finished trimming the hedge in front of the house.  He called over to me just before I finished.  Then the neighbor on the other side came out and we talked about the new neighbor, then another neighbor came by and stopped and the three of us talked about the new neighbor....lol  pretty funny

Jane, she addressed nothing in the e-mail, other than wanting me to approve her so she could search posts, as she finds the info posted here sometimes interesting.  I was hoping we could discuss the deal, but apparently there is no interest in doing so.

Well, I was hoping for invoices in the last hour but, alas, they have not arrived.  I'd had a text earlier saying thanks for the Hugo's offer, and that she'd come by after she finished her nanny job, which was ending at five today.  Maybe it ran longer or maybe she's too tired - I don't know and I cannot fret about it.  One way or another the invoices will be returned - I would just prefer it be nice 'n' easy, like the Sinatra song.

I like so many of the songs already posted here.....

I think this was their FIRST chart hit....way back when....ladies & gentlemen.....Mr Marty Robbins....Live version:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj_YIo6WCCo&feature=related

Was that really Marty Robbins, or was it a smurf?

How short was he?

I think it's the camera.....I love how all of the band members look about 40 years old.

If she can search, then she can pick out one particular person's posts to read. I say if she wants to stalk someone, make her read through all the posts. Don't make it easier.

More rain and thunder......lights out in some of the little towns between the theater and home.....whew!  No stop lights which means driving laws are suspended and everyone can drive the way they want to....or even stop in the middle of the road....it's like a garage sale.

I think I will watch a movie.

I would like to see THE GIRL-GETTERS with Mr Oliver Reed, but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere.

I think a close second choice would be SATAN IN HIGH HEELS.....but I don't have that either......

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................maybe I need to watch BOY AND THE PIRATES!

Saw bk's friend Cissy Wechter today.

Picked up a wooden antiqued looking sign for my front porch from her store that says:
BEACH (with a hand pointing to the beach).

My splurge for the month. $20.00

I don't think she has the invoices any more.

Well, I don't know what she would have done with them - they're in a box, there are about seven hundred pieces of paper, maybe more.  I guess I will write one more e-mail tomorrow - give her the chance to bring them to her theater on Friday - and then take whatever action I deem necessary.

DR George, happy birthday to your mother.

Thanks, Jane!  My sister and I picked out a glazed cement bench for her garden.  It has leaf patterns pressed into the seat.  I'll try to take a picture tomorrow.  It looks very nice! :D

Well, I'm leaving work.  Tomorrow is my mom's birthday and my sister and I are going shopping for something for her.  She loves gardening, so I'm sure that it'll be something that has to do with gardening. :)

Until later!

Tomorrow is my Dad's birthday!

Happy Birthday (one day early) to your Dad, Cilla!
