And congratulations to the errant and truant who helped make yesterday the lowest posting day in, oh, about six years.
Friday (the 13th) morning greetings! Slept quite well last night.Glad to hear it, DR Ginny. And I think in honor of the date, I will buy a lottery ticket.

Just had to share. :)
Sorry I didn't post more yesterday, BK. I got a bit of good news: I was promoted to something called an Office Operations Supervisor, or OOS (pronounced "ooze"). There may only be a few weeks left of the census, but it was a nice, out-of-the-blue announcement. It wasn't anything for which I had applied. They made the decision and then told us all about it.\
I then went out with a friend and celebrated over a good dinner and a bottle of wine.
My rather battered ego, sore from filing out job applications every day never to hear anything in return, found some much-needed salve in all that.
And the word of the day is: FELDSPAR!
Hey everybody. Up early here this morning. I'm off to SF to teach a workshop about Gestures, Movement, and Dance as a form of Prayer in the classroom. (or something like that). I'll be there all day so I may be E&T. This evening, I'm going to see Miss Betty Buckley at Yoshi's in SF. Should be a great day. I'll try and have a full report tonight or tomorrow morning. We are down to 2 days before the DP's family arrives, and things are still not quite together. I'm about 2 days behind. Hoping for a miracle in the next 48 hours.
TOD - I had dreams last night that had the music to Billy Elliot in them. So I'm listening to the OLC at the moment. Other than that, probably a podcast on the way to SF.
Top of the morning, all!
TOD:
Ye Olde iPod: lecture series on the international date line & Jewish Law, Triumph of Love (how in tarnation did that get there?!)
DVD drive: latest season of Psych
Nightstand: Born to Kvetch, What Einstein Told His Cook
Dan-The-Man, thanks for mentioning THE MOTHER IN LAWS. I may have to check that one out.
Since you got no important mail yesterday, BK, I must presume that your Leslie Parrish DVD has not yet arrived....for I know you would not consider her to be unimportant.
Here is an upcoming DVD release that may appeal to some here:

Welcome to the bouncy castle ... of doom.
OK, so doom might be a bit of an overstatement. However, the state of California insists lead levels in inflatable bouncy castles for children pose a significant threat. They are filing a lawsuit against a number of bouncy moguls.
The lawsuit, according to The New York Times, claims some bouncy structures have lead content dozens of times past the federal limit.
"I was surprised," California Attorney General Jerry Brown tells The Times. "But as we test more and more of these products, we find dangers."
Some defendants suspect a political motive behind lawsuit. Brown, once known as "Governor Moonbeam" for his starry-eyed musings about space exploration, is trying to get his old job back in November.
Robert Field, the senior vice president of Cutting Edge Creations Inc. and a defendant in the suit, tells The Times the investigation is a "witch hunt" that could seriously hurt the bouncy industry.
Ah, Conversations with Myself - a masterpiece.
I'm about to take my 9:25 RAGTIME Prologue walk around the tables. I think tomorrow I'll graduate to the basement, where I can make a real circuit with out clipping chairs and table legs.
Dan-The-Man, thanks for mentioning THE MOTHER IN LAWS. I may have to check that one out.
You do know there are no bodybuilders in it?
Had a really nice time with JMK (and I blamed him, of course) and, as he posted, he did the firmware upgrade on my Blu and Ray player so it should now play all discs perfectly - and to test it, we put in Avatar, which used to not play in that player at all - not even getting to the initial screens - now it loads perfectly - slowly, of course, but perfectly.

Today is the birthday of Darke County, OH, native Annie Oakley (http://www.ohiochannel.org/your_state/remarkable_ohio/marker_details.cfm?marker_id=835&file_id=4055)
Beginning today, we will be having 100 degree weather for the next several days.
Now if I were in my swanky, mod new apartment I would be able to use the air conditioning machine. Unfortunately, I am still in my house which relies completely on electrical fans, one in each room.
A slow day on the list. I went out to get a few items from Kroger's around 3 PM. I was on my crutches, but maneuver fairly well with them. I guess I didn't realize how hot and humid it was today in Troy, MI. When I returned to my apartment I had to sit in the car air conditioning before getting out of the car. I had no idea how the weather would effect me. I hope that others are doing better.
DR Ginny, when I was getting my list of Dos and Don'ts when I left the hospital, the nurse told me to avoid stairs for the first week, but after that I could go up stairs. "How about down stairs?", I asked. She looked at my sheets of instructions with a puzzled expression on her face and began flippping the pages back and forth. "It doesn't say anything here about going down stairs. You better wait until you talk to the doctor about that."
::)
And when I followed their link to amazon, imagine my surprise to find the hardcover selling for less money than the softcover - literally more than 50% off the cover price. If anyone has been waiting, now is a perfect time to get the hardcover at an incredible price.

Matthew, how are you feeling?
I'm sitting in Starbucks in the Fillmore district of SF waiting for my show date, Martin, to arrive. Martin and I did two of the camp shows this summer. He directed, I musical directed. We make a great team, if I should say so myself. We well then hie ourselves over a few blocks to Yoshi's for a lovely dinner show featuring Miss Betty Buckley.
And my book has just received a really wonderful review over at Talkin' Broadway.
http://www.talkinbroadway.com/bookreviews/index.html
No, the book doesn't come with a CD unless it's purchased at Kritzerland or unless I have them with me at signings. And speaking of signings, it looks like I'll be coming to New York on September 24 to do one at the Drama Book Shop - so do we think we can gather a decent crowd for that event? I don't really want to spend the dough traveling unless we can have a good crowd. That's a Friday at 5:30 and, of course, we can have a get-together after.
DR John G - Congratulations on your promotion!
Continued health vibes for DR Matthew!!I hope the dairy-free life works for you, DR Matthew.
Once again DR Laura, some beautiful pictures! I especially like the shot of the caterpillars!I agree. Great photos.
