Never mind - I'm worried word will leak out - so tomorrow night at midnight, as planned.
Saint Joan arrived. That will keep me busy for the weekend.
;D
What size is your theatre, Jorge, and how many main stage productions are done a year -- and what is the normal mix -- like how many comedies, dramas, musicals each year?

Vibes to bk's pal, Debby! Glad it doesn't sound quite as dire as originally thought but still, cancer sucks no matter what form it takes.
And the word of the day is: VELLICATE!
Since we have several songwriters here, I thought this would be of interest:

BK? DR FJL & Skip? DR Noel?
About this cure for cancer... During my mother's long and arduous descent into Nevermore, she said: Everybody dies of something. There will never be a cure for death. That's why you have to live while you're living.
John G., maybe I misread one of your posts yesterday; but I thought you wrote that Reno opens ANYTHING GOES with "I Get A Kick Out of You." But she doesn't in any prodcution I have ever seen. I have always seen the show open with "You're The Top."

And of course as soon as I burned it, I thought of more songs, but, like editing, sometimes you just have to decide you're done and wrap it up!

Well, as much as I love Volume 1, I don't intend to give you the opportunity to produce a sequel!

In the original 1934 show and the Lincoln Center revival, the first number after the overture is "I Get A Kick Out of You."
I hope the Edisaurus kitty found a good home, although I bet they changed the name immediately!
Cilla, I LOVE your quote!

It's a good thing you are doing, Cillaliz.
Definitely our Trouble Maker?:D

Jeanne, my doctor suggested fish oil, and I asked about ground flax seed, and he said to use it.
Vixter is curled up on my shoulder purring.

I hadn't read it. It is a good one. :)
I think it is sweet how much effort you put into clothes shopping for your clients. I still remember the underpants hunt.
The nicest thing just happened--the doorbell rang and when I answered it, it was our backyard neighbors who had brought doggie treats and wanted to officially meet the dogs (and, I guess, the humans they came with LOL). Really, really nice people and so sweet of them to bring treats for thed dogs.

And the funniest part of it was they didn't accept the boxers, so I still have them at my office. Brand new in the package.
John G., maybe I misread one of your posts yesterday; but I thought you wrote that Reno opens ANYTHING GOES with "I Get A Kick Out of You." But she doesn't in any prodcution I have ever seen. I have always seen the show open with "You're The Top."The original production opened with Merman alone on stage singing "I Get a Kick Out of You." Or so I've read, since I'm really not that old (though I sometimes feel it). I checked the McGlinn recording and sure enough it was there right after the overture. I found this in Miles Krueger's notes: "Cole Porter once confided in me that he wanted no opening chorus, a standard convention of the time, and insisted upon placing the show's biggest hit, "I Get a Kick Out of You" within the first five minutes of the first scene. It seems that his society friends thought it was amusing to drift into the theatre fifteen or twenty minutes after the curtain had gone up, so that all their friends could observe what they were wearing. Because he regarded such behavior as rude to both audience and actors alike, he warned his friends for weeks before the opening that they had better arrive on time or they would miss the big song: with a wry smirk, he added that they never forgave him."
LOL, Edi! What a fabulous and thoughtful gift! What a great gift.

No, that's never going to happen
I think ARSENIC AND OLD LACE plays much better on stage than on film.

I agree.....of course as Jonathan Brewster, I am prejudiced.

I lost my balance today and fell into the dry streambed. It was quite ungraceful. And now my hip is sore. I'm glad no one witnessed it.

DR CILLA LIZ, that is beyond bizarre.....it sounds like an episode of the Twilight Zone.
Well, there are benefits to youth!

Keep your eye on YOUTUBE.
Honestly, why do they need to determine if a crime was committed? I doubt there's anyone to prosecute at this point.
I read that as I sent DotM a personal message....

I am all agog about the new release to be announced in a few hours!
SAINT JOAN arrived at my house today....and I listened to it immediately. I haven't seen the movie in awhile, but I certainly agree with MR BK's liner notes. It is a lovely score - and the CD sounds great....now I want to find my old VHS and watch the movie again.
Jean Seberg and all of those MEN - many of whom - Richard Todd I am talking to you - never looked better!
I love Jean Seberg in EVERYTHING.....especially BONJOUR TRISTESSE.....but she is SO beautiful.......
Ah, yes, I have that Bonuour Tristesse CD - it came out this year in France - it's taking advantage of the 50 year copyright rule overseas - anything 1960 and before can be done by anyone anywhere, as long as it's not the US, although, what no one has figured out yet is that that bit of business can work two ways - therefore Kritzerland can issue any foreign soundtrack or show pre-1960 - and we just might. Meanwhile, it's not a bad CD but it's been mastered from an LP.
TOD:
I'm sure that many of you would pick "cure the world of all disease" (e.g. AIDS, cancer, etc.) as your miracle, so since that one is well covered:
I would have all of the world's terrorists and/or terrorist wannabes join Adolph Hitler wherever he might be.
Announcement in forty-five minutes.

Back from some fun travels, including a stop at Mystery and Imagination Bookstore. They told me a funny and wonderful story. Several weeks ago I mentioned that I'd met a man and his wife who then proceeded to tell me that their daughter LOVED the Hofstetter mysteries - she and her friend have read them over and over again. They hadn't gotten her the third one yet because she wanted to go to a signing and meet me and have her sign it directly to her. They'd missed the one I'd done when it first came out. So, apparently they were at the Ray Bradbury 90th birthday party that Mystery and Imagination threw last Sunday. And the daughter was there, and they bought Murder at the Hollywood Historical Society for her and she was clutching it to her and asking the owners if I was going to show up - it was really a sweet story. So, I had Christine e-mail the guy and tell him that I'd meet them anywhere and sign the book for the daughter - he wrote back and said we'd do it as soon as this Ray Bradbury Week celebration is done - in a week. Isn't that fun? And yes, there will be another Hofstetter book, either next or after the next.
