Bruce you gave no details about the Channel 7 (local ABC news) interview tomorrow. What time will it be aired? I'll probably be at work but if it's at 5:30 or 6 or even 6:30 I could watch it. You aren't going to be on Regis and Kelly, are you?

Good morning, all! I don't have to be at the McGlinnventory until 9:30 this morning so I slept in a bit. Around 5:30 am the Oaf Above Me certainly had a lot of activity. I suspect it has to do with the dog's wanting to go out, but it's damned noisy.

I have a date with Mr Skip Kennon today to edit some Victor Herbert after the McGlinnventory. On my way back here, I need to stop at Verizon and put some money into my cell phone account. I'll follow that up with some inquiries into readiness for the next recording sessions beginning on Oct 2.

Hello from the airport. The security line was the longest I've ever seen. At five thirty in the morning! Got through fine, went to the gate to find a gate change. So I'm at the new gate now. Thirty minutes before boarding and not a Jet Blue person in sight.

re: the discussion about fries and ranch dressing.

Honestly here I don't even know if ranch dressing is usually an option with your salad. I don't eat salad out that often. And if i do there is usually the house dressing.

Re: DR Jose's question whether chicken wings are served with ranch dressing.  There are not that many restaurants here that I've been to that serve chicken wings.  And I"m not sure what the dressing they serve is. But let's just say that I do not believe that ranch dressing and wings are very popular here (I've never heard of them being a popular combo).

This Professor who is writing the Farmer article wants several pics from me and is insisting the publication (which is online) requires 2400 dpi.  I think she meant 240 dpi, as every website I have worked for doesn't deal with anything over 300 dpi (and usually it's as low as 72 dpi).  Plus, you need to compress photos that huge to email anyway.  We shall see.

Greetings from Toyland!  Mr Skip Kennon should be here around 1 pm and we will begin edits on the Harlequinade from THE LADY OF THE SLIPPER, a huge piece of music around 16 minutes long for Montgomery & Stone to be humorously tormented by Harlequin, Columbine and a bunch of cops and merchants conjured by by Cinderella's Fairy Godmother. We'll be on this piece for the next month, what with his schedule and mine.

Zak Stains joined us today at the McGlinnventory; he will be helping us with the next round of dividing, filing, shipping, etc.

My cell phone is out of money so as soon as I leave Toyland, I have to find a Verizon store.

Chicken wings are popular for the same reasons burgers, pizza and sandwiches are: They're food you eat with your hands. So, you won't find them at too many fork, knife and linen table cloth places (though the ones I had made with truffle oil were).

That said, they are usually available in San Antonio with a choice of either ranch or blue cheese (or both). And there are plenty of places that serve only wings (Buffalo Wild Wings and WingStop are the first two that come to mind).

I went to a chicken conference in Miami about 8 years ago, and the industry just loved the popularity in chicken wings because it gave them a market for a part of the bird that never sold before (only flavorless breast meat seems to sell).

I think it was a fantastic example of a person committing game show suicide.

"Criminal Minds" was a very tragic story last night.  Creepy guest performance by Tim Curry.

That, plus the departure from the show of one of the regulars (another departs next week) signals change for "Criminal Minds" that may either energize the show or ruin it.

SB rehearsal was great last night.  We almost have the ensemble numbers learned.  I say "almost" because "Let's Have Lunch" is on the edge of being right, but it's not 100% yet.

Vibes to BK for a great NYC trip, wish I could be there this weekend.  Someday....

I remember reading an article about SB when it first opened and originally, they called that number "Let's Do Lunch," but they changed the title because back in the 1950s, they didn't "do" anything. ;)

Ha!  Yes, I mentioned that to the cast the other night.  They were bright and came up with the reasoning before I said mentioned it.

re: the discussion about fries and ranch dressing.

These items are VERY popular in sports bars, etc.   Do you frequent those?

Not really. But that was actually the only place I could think of that would serve chicken wings here.

Re: last night's SURVIVOR

What did other SURVIVOR fans think of Shannon's little tirade last night at Tribal Council?

I think it was a fantastic example of a person committing game show suicide.

He tied the rope into a noose, threw it over a sturdy low-hanging branch and then was shocked to discover he had hanged himself.

I'm curious if those 2 girls (who they showed voted for him) changed their votes after hearing his tirade.

I was happy that Brenda was safe, since I really like her. I can't exactly figure out whey they wanted to vote off the strongest women first.

As for Shannon. They must have skipped some stuff because why would he ask "are you gay?" out of nowhere. It made no sense.  But then to rant on about New York having a lot of gay people. Well he was just acting ignorant and I agree he hung himself.

Well, I did the zip line today. I feel more adrenaline zooming in my system now than I did during the four jumps and two trials. I really enjoyed hanging over the fields even if I never quite learned to brake properly.

By the way, looking at the platform that my friend fell off yesterday: I would say from her side it was about five feet and she fell downhill.

They asked a whole bunch of health-related questions before we went. Shoulder wasn't one of them, You had to be able to hold onto the lobster clasps and move your feet up to land on the various platforms. I didn't use my shoulders too much. Or at least that I noticed. But I would ask a doctor first probably.

I did manage to "fill in" behind the new toilet tank so that wall looks faboo.  There had been a tiny scratch on one of the walls by the stairs leading up to the master, and I *think* I chose the right color from the paint left in the garage, but I won't know for certain until it dries.  This house has "twisty, windy" stairs, each flight with two landings, and I hadn't realized I was at the lip of one of the landings when I stepped back to review my paint job.  The assymetrical angles of this house were one of the first things that really attracted us to it--there aren't any "square" rooms.

I'm glad you liked it.  I'm waiting until the third movie is released since Keith hasn't read the books.

DR Jane how strong is your shoulder now? I'm guessing that if it is still fairly weak that you would not be able to zip line.  Otherwise you could risk hurting it again. I would think you would have to have a fair amount of strength in your upper body and arms.  But I guess you should ask your doctor if you are seriously considering it.

I walked into the movie wondering how they were going to handle the police officer with the "lesbian Satanists" fixation and was surprised (and pleased) to see that he had been completely eliminated. I loved him in the book. I think he would have been too fatuous and comical on screen.

I'm sure.  It had been a long time between my reading the first book and watching the movie which really helped keep up the level of suspense.

Strong‽‽  My entire upper body strength is pathetic.  The therapist said it has nothing to do with strength, that I can never ever hang on to anything with the arm above my head because the artificial ball in my shoulder can't do it.

Tonight I watched The Girl Who Played With Fire.  It's one of the movies I bought on eBay.  I really enjoyed it.  I'm going to wait awhile before watching the last movie.  Just to delay the end of the series a little while

I'm glad you liked it.  I'm waiting until the third movie is released since Keith hasn't read the books.

I kept wondering what it would be like if I hadn't read the book.  I think it may have been better, much more suspenseful
I agree with you. But I had read the book and enjoyed greatly noticing how they streamlined a massive book into such a taut movie.

Yes, I enjoyed that too.  Especially since they seemed to have cut out a lot of what I thought was superfluous
I walked into the movie wondering how they were going to handle the police officer with the "lesbian Satanists" fixation and was surprised (and pleased) to see that he had been completely eliminated. I loved him in the book. I think he would have been too fatuous and comical on screen.

I'm already forgetting stuff in the book.  I would not have missed this at all. ;D

Thanks JohnG.  My physical therapist said I could not zip line, but that is because he has only seen the type where you hang from your arms.  He said I might be able to do it in a harness like you had.

Might be able to?  How exactly do you find out if you can do it since once you're on the thing I doubt they let you off! :)
Quite true. And the platforms are so high that climbing down is really not a viable option.

And I don't want to get down the same way your friend did. :(

Galaktobureuko is paradise in pastry form. It's temptation. It's seduction. It's surrender. It's all that and more.

Well, the next time you actually do fall down a flight of steps with an open can of paint, just make sure someone is filming it.  That set-up just screams "YouTube Viral Video".

They now have their shots and the doctor said to quit giving Boo the brand of treats I'm using and she may quit throwing up.
Poor you and the babies.  OK, I had to laugh at the simple solution to the problem.  VIBES IT TRULY IS A SIMPLE SOLUTION!!

So...

A friend of mine called me up yesterday since he was in need of a pianist for an audition he had this morning.  Well, it was more like a "hearing" - he was singing for an agent in the hopes of getting representation.  He had rattled off a list of songs that he had prepared, and it was all stuff that I had played before. So, we planned a brief rehearsal for this morning before heading to the agent's office. Well..

He had mentioned that he was singing "Ich grolle nicht" from Schumann's song cycle, "Dichterliebe".  After running through two arias, we started on the Schumann.  Well...

He opened his music, and instead of "Ich grolle nicht", he placed "Im wunderschönen Monat Mai" in front of me - the first song of the cycle. Hmmm... OK.  We went through it. Then went on to the second song of the cycle... Then the third... -It turned out he had prepared the WHOLE song cycle and not just "Ich grolle nicht". And that's when I stopped breathing. I guess I should mention that the agent used to be a concert pianist, so...

After I had explained to him that the last time I had played through the whole cycle was about 15 years ago, we went ahead and selected five of them to present for the agent.  -I mean, this was just a "hearing", not a recital.

We then headed up to the agent's apartment/office, and she asked to hear the Mozart aria first, "Dalla sua pace". Then the aria from "Le Roi d'Ys".

"That's all I really need to hear today. That was wonderful."

...And that's when I started breathing again.

Whew!

:)

Um, 2400dpi is definitely beyond what's normally asked for. The only time someone would usually for something that "detailed" would be if they were going to blow up the pictures to large format. -Are posters involved? Or will it be for a cover of "W"? ;)

While I was in the hospital my cell phone broke.  Bryan had sent me an old phone of his so I was not without, however the SIM card did not transfer my info as I was promised it would.  Recently I got a new phone and the SIM only transferred one phone number per person. :(  The phone was also missing the main book of instructions.  After over an hour on the phone with the nice person at T-Mobile I have spent another hour, at least, fixing my phone book.  Now I have most the numbers in my phone book corrected, more questions to call T-Mobile about, and a very sore shoulder.

The shoulder is why I hadn't programed all my numbers into my phone.  I'm sure there are numbers I'm missing too.  Before I add more numbers I want to make sure I'm keeping this phone.  Of course after what I just did I'm very worried the card won't transfer correctly again.
