Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no mention of Miss Otis despite Miss Otis being in the title of today's notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they are having no trouble ranting today and are especially happy that one of our ensemble girls is named Shannon CUDD.
-
And the word of the day is: JNANA!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all!
I had most peculiar dreams last night, none of which I can now remember, but I do remember that my dad was in at least one of them I suspect a lot of it has to do with my reading FOOL and its KING LEAR source; as you may or may not recall, I've been living KING LEAR since my dad, around 1990, gave/sold his empire, the construction business he began in 1965, to my two brothers, Randy and Macbeth, and the oldest son became Lear's youngest daughter Cordelia, who wanted nothing of the family business. So, until my dad's death in 2007, I was the one called home to mediate/soothe/rationalize thngs whenever Goneril and Regan - I mean Randy and Macbeth - got into battles with my dad over the "company," bitching that he wouldn't stop trying to run it after gving it up, or plotted to overthrow the other, or became violent to each other's physical welfare. Randy's misfortune is that he married a sensble and kind woman while Macbeth found a hard bitch to support/enable his crimes against everyone.
So, reading FOOL has brought up a lot of subtext and a real longing to see my dad again, but such things can only happen in dreams or madness, so I'll dream. My mother took the other option,
Today, the barber at 10:30. Following that, edits with Mr Skip Kennon, and then home to whatever fresh hell comes down the road.

Off to the airport soon. Headed home. It's been a good trip, but I'm glad it's reaching an end.

Good morning DR LAURA.
Today is a shopping day for me, so hopefully I will find some nice things at the Goodwill store and some new things at Dollar Tree!
-
KING KONG.....love the music.....
Although I must say that Miss Allison Hayes gives Miss Faye Wray some competition in the screaming dept.

Jnana, nah!
Jnana, nah!
Hey! Hey!

Good morning to all!

Good morning one and all!

Wednesday morning greetings! After today's session at the CR gym, I have to clean up and meet my grantwriter friends for dinner. The speaker for tomorrow's conference is flying in from Phoenix this afternoon, and after dinner I'll take her to her hotel, which is not far from our home. The conference is being held at our local hospital, which is very convenient for me and works well because it's a Dayton & Cincinnati co-sponsored event.
-
Big-day-at-work vibes to DR George!

Hi, DR td - how are you today?
-
Travel vibes to DR John G!

BK, if you do the student film. Make sure it's a SAG-waiver or approved.

And the word of the day is: JNANA!
And The Song Of The Day Is: MEDITATION
-
Wow! Mentioned in the notes and it's not even my birthday! (Yet--you still have 7 shopping days left). ;)
-
And the word of the day is: JNANA!
I think I have that move on DVD. It stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mala Sinha, Vikram, and Cuckoo.
-
I too love the original KING KONG! And I love Fay Wray in it and in MYSTERY OF THE WAX MUSEUM. However, I find her terribly dull in every other movie I have seen her in as a leading lady.
Now, when she turned character actress in the 1950s she was truly wonderful!
-
Hi, DR td - how are you today?
While Norma Desmond may be ready for her close-up, I am ready for my colonoscopy.
(I am actually feeling very, very hungry right now). :(
-
Well, DR td, the worst part is over, but do give yourself a couple of days to recover!

I read that headline. and thought: "I never said that."

Back from cardiac rehab, where they made me watch a couple of lame American Heart Association videos about heart-healthy eating. When those were over, I listened on my iPod to a podcast that I'd downloaded from the American Theatre Wing - an interview with Gerard Alessandrini about Forbidden Broadway. What's weird is that they talk about selections they're going to play and the actual tracks have been edited out.

Glad it's all over, TD. And I'm glad you had it done because of all the polyps. You may have prevented cancer today.
-
I'm waiting to do the telephonic meeting, then the Sam Bobrick meeting happens at three-thirty, so I have to drive to Encino and won't be able to jog till seven tonight, which means I may not have time for a motion picture - we shall see.
-
I got a box we shipped back with "insufficient address" on it. Now, mind you it is addressed EXACTLY as it was on the paypal invoice. So, I don't really understand would could be insufficient about it, nor will the USPS be of any help since we did not purchase any of their costly "extra" services. They said I could take it to the post office and query them - I thanked them for being their usual unhelpful selves. I e-mailed the buyer only to have the e-mail bounce back. I'll just let him contact me when he realizes that his package hasn't arrived and then he can explain the address problem AND the bounced e-mail and if the explanations are reasonable I'll send the package again, as long as I can use the postage that's already on it - if his explanation is not reasonable I will refund his money and he can go buy it elsewhere.

That's awful, Elmore.
-
That's awful, Elmore.
It's really gotten under my skin. I keep thinking of Bob Dylan's great song, "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll" and the destruction of the gentle by cruelty and hatred:
Hattie Carroll was a maid in the kitchen
She was fifty-one years old and gave birth to ten children
Who carried the dishes and took out the garbage
And never sat once at the head of the table
And didn't even talk to the people at the table
Who just cleaned up all the food from the table
And emptied the ashtrays on a whole other level
Got killed by a blow, lay slain by a cane
That sailed through the air and came down through the room
Doomed and determined to destroy all the gentle
And she never done nothing to William Zanzinger
And you who philosophize disgrace and criticize all fears
Take the rag away from your face
Now ain't the time for your tears.

I don't know what the hell is going on with the world's major assholes today, and they are certainly proliferating, like Andrew Shirvell, who should be put to death for terminal stupidity:

I have to say that after seeing Anderson Cooper's interview, i want to say to this Fool Shirvell, "You're such a repressed queen, you're probably stalking the poor boy because you're infatuated with him." She is not a well woman at all.

I feel so sorry for his family, and I'm so angry at the families of these dumbass students responsible I cannot see straight. Don't these idiots teach their children anything about ethics or morality?
Chances are the parents of these kids are more horrified than you are.
-
Congrats DR George!
-
In other, perhaps less distressing news, I've just discovered that someone quoted one of my reviews on a Wikipedia article about a film. I find this rather humorous for some reason.
Were you given credit for the quote?

Back from my appointment. A little loopy right now, but, I was told to go home and sleep it off. Nine polyps removed, the DR said they did NOT look cancerous. They will be biopsied and I'll know in a few weeks.
That is a lot of polyps! They can usually tell if they are cancer. Some might be the kind that could become cancer. Since you got them it won't really matter. My guess you will be doing this again in three or four years.
Actually, three to FIVE years. . .(sounds like a Marx Brothers routine).
-
That's horrible, Larry. :'(
It's really got to me. He clearly felt he had nowhere to turn, his shithead roommate clearly was out to get him, and he gives up everything. The poor kid. I'd have sued their asses off.
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/09/hold_new_rutgers_post.html
Suing them is lightweight. They should go to prison
I will be surprised if they don't.

Does this mean what I think it means? Congratulations, DR George!
Yes, Ginny, I now am the boss of five...well, five once we hire my replacement! Thanks!
Will you be interviewing your replacement? Sounds like fun.
As soon as I saw the big red "I'm" I waited for the rest of the good news.

DR George,
Keith briefly took a break from playing his computer game and was delighted to hear your good news. He said to tell you congratulations, so I will.

How much did that cost you‽
Nothing, DR Jane. It's from iTunes U.

Sorry, I meant to remove the last part. How much did watching the lame videos. Now I realize you watched them while using the treadmill.

I'm waiting to hear from DR MBarnum.

This morning I headed out to meet up with my hiking group and ran into a road block where I sat for fifteen minutes in the "dead cell phone zone". I didn't make it in time to hike with them. Making this extra annoying is that the road does not need new asphalt and there haven't been signs warning us about the upcoming road delays.
I went to the local hiking trails, came home & took Sherlock back out. I hadn't taken him because there is too much poison oak where they went. Since I was done earlier than expected we went to Costco to get a few things.

Wow, that was fast!! They must really like you :D :D
Well, they know me...and I know the computer system. I think that that was the deciding factor, more than any supervisory experience, which I don't have.

Yay for George.

What those college kids did is sadly reflective of the world we live in - no morals, no ethics, I'm sure they thought they were entitled to do what they did -
-
Back from a short jog. As I headed towards the house, guess what I heard - THUNDER? I mean, anyone who doesn't think we are in the midst of the craziest crazy weather everywhere seriously needs to have their head examined, Whatever is happening to this planet, it's clear that SOMETHING is.

Yup, I'll interview, but not alone. There were five people for my interview, this morning. They're going to announce my current position soon and only internally. That'll speed things up.

My current-but-soon-to-be-former supervisor has been quite good...very laid back, but he's able to do what needs to be done. AND he'll be training me, so that's another good thing.
-
Vibes for good test results for DR td. Nine polyps does sound like quite a lot.
-
Thanks for the travel vibes, all. The flights were good and I manage to both get some sleep and 300 pages read in my book. Two goals and both accomplished.
-
Larry, that story was just frightening.
-
Now in MTL after a fab-u-lous stay in San Francisco. Now to catch up with all the notes and postings. I will start tomorrow in the A.M.

Thanks for posting it.

PS - I will be E & T all day tomorrow at our local hospital - not as a patient, but as a conference attendee. Thought you'd like to know!

Great Interview, BK. I suggested that a friend of mine stop by HHW after she asked how I knew you. Susan, if you're out there, join us!

Mr. Michael Musto of the Village Voice did a nice little blog item which leads up to my Katy Perry / Elmo parody minutes from last weekend: (the SESAME STREET and RAINBOW CONNECTION parodies)

Fred, Love the parodies! Nice article too

I don't know what the hell is going on with the world's major assholes today, and they are certainly proliferating, like Andrew Shirvell, who should be put to death for terminal stupidity:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwObjKZg9Jw
I saw this story tonight. I don't get why his boss is so protective if him. He's an Asst AG. He should be fired
-
I have to say that after seeing Anderson Cooper's interview, i want to say to this Fool Shirvell, "You're such a repressed queen, you're probably stalking the poor boy because you're infatuated with him." She is not a well woman at all.
I thought the same thing
-
Time for me to sign off....night

I just watched THE HURT LOCKER on blu and ray.

Charles - do you still speak with Harlan Ellison? I ran across from some pictures just recently fromt helast time I saw him - on Long Island in the Spring of 2008...he showed us the documentary made about him... I was wondering if it was ever released for sale on DVD

Tonight after work I went to pay for my new sculpture. I went to the coolest house. It was designed by Richard Neutra in 1951 and is SOO cool. I didn't think I liked mid-century modern architecture, but in this house you feel like you are out in the open in every room of the house. It's just amazing. the couple who own it are restoring it. They bought it from the original owner
-
Here's an interview with the current owner http://www.distortedmagazine.com/features/ron-emory-reflecting-his-walk
He and his wife are really great people. I'm not partial to punk rock, so I hadn't heard of him before. I'm glad I'm getting to know them now.
-
Hello, everyone.
I hardly know where to start:
CONGRATS to DR GEORGE on your promotion! I hope you're very happy with your new job--so much so that you don't mind getting up early.

What a horrible story. I hope it gets lots of publicity, though, and people learn not to do such stupid things. Are there any laws that would pertain to this?
-
Recuperation vibes to DR TD.
-
And yay, it's cooler!
-
I'm so hungry and all I have here is Fruity Snacks (ate one pack) and chocolate Twizzlers (ate eight pieces). I only had a sandwich at noon - I think some chips may be in order - or something.
-
Congratulations to George on the promotion - may it bring you joy ...and a nice raise!
Thanks, Vixmom! Unfortunately, I won't get a big raise...but more little raises. :)

vixmom, the Ellison doc has been out for at least a year Dream With sharp Teeth, I believe it's called. It was showing just the other night on sundance. And, yes, I speak with him all the time.

I went out to get some chips and junk and decided instead to go to Jerry's and get a bowl of chicken soup to take home. As I was coming back to the car and literally about a foot from the car door I tripped over something. Usually I'm pretty good about keeping my balance, but I couldn't stop and just crashed to the ground - unfortunately it was not flat ground as I was at the end of a row and there was a raised curb there - my elbow got it pretty bad - no blood but a really nice, big bruise. Miraculously, the chicken soup container stayed shut.
-
Oh dear! I'm glad you didn't get hurt any worse, BK!
-
Good Evening!
bk - Glad to hear you're OK, and I hope you're still feeling OK come the morning.
