Post by: Ben on October 11, 2010, 04:37:39 AM: Our visit with friends from Nottingham was wonderful. I went up to their hotel and brought them down to our apartment where we visited for a while. Then they wanted to do something typically New York so we took the Staten Island Ferry. It was a bit of a trip because of weekend work on the Subway but we did get down there along with, it seems, every other tourist in New York City and they were all on the Statue of Liberty side of the Boat so they could get a far away shot of the statue. We then had to get off the boat for about 20 minutes then we re-boarded for the trip back to Manhattan. We then took the subway to 23rd Street and had a marvelous dinner at East of Eighth, one of our favorite restaurants. We then took them back to their hotel, came home and dropped into bed, exhausted. But what a wonderful day!

I also have to visit a guy in jail this afternoon. I gave Edith the day off and I'll be in and out of the office In between, I did get Ricky a vet appointment, just a vet check not the neuter, but it's a start. I think he has to get his rabies shot, they don't do that for you either. Gotta run, need to get him his own carrier

I just ordered A BRIDGE TOO FAR, and this aftwernoon I've got a meeting with DJ Salisbury, the choreographer who wants to turn my "Appalachian Carols" into a theatre piece. Beyond that, I want to pull some more things gfor Miami University Library and continue Season Five of BONES.

BK, do you have any insat Warner Brothers recordings? On the Castrecl this morning, Henri Campo was wishing you'd clean up the old Dorothy Provine recordings from tHE TOARUNG 20's.

DR Jeanne, my favorite recording of Pachelbel's Canon in D seems out of print now but Amazon.com is selling it as a used copy beginning at $1.55. I like the piece quite a lot, and I prefer it in its original baroque garb.

And then, even though I've used the name "John Addison" in the announcement, it doesn't show up on the Facebook Addison page - which it should. That function has always worked before. Is there some new thing I now have to click in preferences?

I'm hoping this time they actually include all the special features from the most recent 2 DVD Collector's Edition set. When they bundled it with BATTLE OF BRITAIN on BD last year, neither film included any special features, though the transfers were excellent.

But the film was set in America and the real story took place in Japan. So, how much reality was there beyond the outline of the story can be wide open.

How are rehearsals going?

Rehearsals are going well. Having a little bit a problem getting people to REMEMBER to come as Saturday's dance rehearsal was ill-attended. The cast got a stern email from me Saturday evening and I'm seriously thinking of cutting one cast member because of his attitude inability to follow a schedule - not to mention he really has turned out to be worthless on stage, also.

We have a run through of Act One tomorrow. That should be interesting.

All the other elements of the production are slowly coming together. Still agonizing over the Keyboard 2 part and I know I should just get cracking on it and it will all work itself out. There are also some video/projection things to solve not to mention how we will deal with the "car" (Norma's iconic Isotta Fraschini) but that will happen.

I pulled several books and put them in a carton, and I've been working on the chart for Mr Ron Raines. My poltergeist is feeling frisky today: there have been lots of slams and rattles and sounds of falling objects today that puzzle me. Last night I dreamed of one of my cousins whose mother has been in poor health fro several years and I'm wondering if something's happened. My dad was also in the dream, so I wonder if I'm getting signals from the dead.

The vet said it's possibly ringworm! YIKES!!! It's very contagious, so luckily he's only been living in one room and hasn't had physical contact with the girls. The vet isn't sure and the culture test takes 10 days (it's a fungus, not a worm) and there is a possiblilty it's a bacterial infections, so I'm giving him antibiotics. It they work in 3 days it's probably not ringworm. If they don't work in three days, it isn't an infection and I don't want to think about the cleaning I'm going to have to do.

Post by: Cillaliz on October 11, 2010, 10:44:27 AM: Luckily, I've been meaning to rip the carpet out of that room since I moved in. If it's ringworm, the carpet is going now. Ricky has been in many rooms, but mostly just walking through. The part that really sucks is that humans can get it too.
I'm hoping and praying that it's just an infection. The vet did see signs of bacterial infection under the microscope, so that 's a good sign. At least it's not fatal, it would be a pain in the butt, but we can overcome.

The bad news is Ricky has to be isolated for at leat 10 days so we know for sure what the problem is

HA! Thanks DR JMK Our TD was in touch with them at one point about the "car", and even that fizzled out I believe. Too bad they never got back to us, sounds like they could use the extra dough.

Unfortunately, it's not a state holiday, so I've had a hearing and now a jail visit to do at 1:00 PM. It's worked out pretty well, though, sort of a holiday, a little work and time to go to the vet. I need a haircut. Tomorrow a local TV station is supposed to come by to take some shots for a commercial in Spanish for one of our Spanish language stations. I haven't signed anything yet and am having second thoughts...I have to decide today if I'm going through with it

I have an AVI of a Japanese movie and the subtitles are in a separate .srt file......I don't have a program that will marry them, and none of my burning softwares seem to be able to do it.

I have Googled and there are several COMPLICATED softwares that will do it. Does anyone know of a simple one to use?

Remember the blood test vibes y'all were sending last week? Well, they worked! Last month I'd had a slew of tests ordered by a rheumatologist and one of them, analyzed locally, had come back positive for a condition called scleroderma. He was very puzzled because I show no other symptoms, so he ordered a retest at the hospital lab with the analysis to be done by the Mayo Clinic. Just had a call from his office telling me that the second test is negative. After some scary reading on the internet, I'm very relieved. Thanks, everybody, for those patented HHW vibes!

A friend of mine had some infection on his feet and was told that using Gyne-Lotrimin would work for him...and it did. :P

I've been reading about it. I guess what I keep thinking is that you would think the humane society would have checked her before putting her in the cat area and just letting me take her to the visitation room. I also don't fully trust this vet. She's the one who told me to put Callie on all dry food and then she got sick again. I figured until I find someone else she would do for the intial check up. She was very unsure about her diagnosis. I realize it won't be definite for 10 days.

Tonight I'm rewashing all my bedding because I brought her in my bedroom for about 10 minutes this morning. I certainly don't want to catch it!

I had my follow-up appointment with my general practitioner tonight. While, it's not exactly bad news, it is what it is:

My diverticuli are spastic, which is why I have the pain most of the time. (which I had for the most part of today, as well). At least we know that the pain is not going to be constant. . .well, that's what the dr. said. . .

Apparently, Dr. Mulock had a difficult time with my colonoscopy for that reason. (thank God I was out)!

Treatment suggested is the duo antibiotic used to treat diverticulITIS, remember, I do indeed have diverticulOSIS.
So, I have a ten day trial of co-working antibiotics to begin. One is every 8 hours, one every twelve. The prescription came with SEVEN PAGES of literature concerning the meds' contraindications and what to do if the pills have side effects.

My PSA is normal. My cholesterol is good, not great and not bad, but could be better.

My fatty liver is normal for a man my age.
The enlarged prostate doesn't seem to be presenting any problems.

I am to add more fiber to my diet, even if it's just Bene-Fiber, Metamuscil or any of those on the market fiber enhancers. I've taken to buying high fiber treats and cereals and using those for my evening snacks. Oatmeal has become a regular part of my diet. As has Greek Yogurt, which though not a fibrous meal, is 38% of my daily protein!

Now, onto Miss Dixie Bell and her inflamed eye and knee.
Her appointment is at 10:00am tomorrow.

Oh, and Mum had an infected ingrown toenail taken care of last week, which was a busy week all around. . .what with my new car seat, car inspection and car registration. . .

Believe me when I say, I send multiple vibes to all in need!

I remember one night shortly before the 1984 election, LaRouche bought a ton of network air time to sell his political vision. And there was Joan Sutherland. I guess we were to vote for him because she had a beautiful voice. I never really understood that.
