Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in the zone, and now it is time for you to post until the in the zone cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: INOSCULATE!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning. I went to bed early so I've been up since 4:45.
-
This is a good thing. I'll get to the office early and get started on the brief due today. It will be a relatively easy one. Then I can do some little things around the office
-
Congrats on finishing the book, BK
-
I received A DRY WHITE SEASON yesterday.
-
Working today.....oh well.
TOD:
CD - Dolly Parton's Greatest Hits (be careful how you say it)
DVD - BAD GIRLS collection from Columbia, a couple of Cleo Moore epics
-
Good morning, all! I remember nothing of my dreams last night except that I was walking around the Miami University campus singing "I Cling To You," one of my favorite Vernon Duke songs. I have no idea what prompted the song or why I was on campus - i was probably in college in the dream, I guess - and I have no other memories of any other parts of the dream. So I'm now listening to "I Cling To You," sung by Tpny Perkins, and thinking what a great song it is.
Today I have a meeting at Toyland with Alyce Mott, who wrote the nice article about the recordings for the Victor Herbert newsletter, and a stop at the bank to deposit the check. Tonight, I'll get my laundry together and have it ready to go first thing in the morning. I also need to finish adding up my receipts for last year's DVD rentals and purchases. I had to take a break and convert my receipts in pound sterling and euros to US currency.
I got my 2010 tax info from California in yesterday's mail, and I'm guessing it was the 1099s and looking over payments going out that prompted the email on Wednesday. Hmmm . . .
TOD:
DVD: the Netflix items still sit here
CD: Vernon Duke Revisited, Guy Haines, Liz Callaway, Babes In Toyland
VCR: tasteful smut

I'm continuing my project of reading the literary sources for classic musicals: I'm about a quarter of the way through The Sisters Liked Them Handsome by Stephen Longstreet, a memoir that became HIGH BUTTON SHOES.

DR ELMORE the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates you have strong connections to your home and that no matter how long you live in NYC, you will always think of Ohio as a big part of yourself.

I have changed my first partner rehearsal to February 6 instead of THIS Sunday, because I have not had time to work on the routine - and if I rush it, I will change everything anyway. So now I have a few days to really do the work.
-
Congrats to MR BK on finishing the book and the good response from Muse Margaret.
I saw Muse Margaret's father in a movie on TCM on Wednesday night - he played Mr Alan Ladd's "double" who had to dress like him and follow him around so he would get shot instead of Gangster Ladd.....
-
All of this dancing business and the 50th Anniversary Slide Show preparation have set Frances on the back burner, where I know she is unhappy.

And the word of the day is: INOSCULATE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: TOGETHER WHEREVER WE GO

Later, gators.

Good morning, all.

Lighting the charcoal for this morning's Cowboy Breakfast. Tens of thousands of people. Free food. Country music. And zillions of gallons of coffee.

I'm off to Toyland. I will check in from there.
-
TOD:
I'll probably go out and rent RED.
And, if it arrives today, THE UNINVITED (Thank you Ron Pulliam)
-
Let's hope it does. Today would be the first day I'd expect any delivery.
-
Working half a day today....the first half, natch.
No plans this afternoon.
Might just mosey over to my new gym after leaving work.
-
Yummm...a Cowboy Breakfast sounds ideal to me, DR John G. Hope y'all have a great time!
-
I easily made it through the short drive to the PATCO High Speedline early this morning (and thankfully found one of the few plowed parking spaces) and my duo train rides to Conshohocken, PA. But now I am hungry as anything. I might have to take a walk over to the train station cafe and get myself a bagel or something to tie me over until lunch.

Yeehaw! I hope it went well. An auspicious beginning anyway!

TOD: DVD: Waking Sleeping Beauty
-
Friday morning greetings! We had a couple of inches of snow last night, so I'm glad I made my haircut appointment for later in the day.
Media check - DVD: THE TOWN
-
The office is open for business (not that I thought it would be closed).
-
And welcome to Page 2
-
I'm up, I'm off. Short day of school Grandparents Day Mass and then I'm home. The yard needs attention so I'll probably tackle that this afternoon, I hope the weather stays as nice as it has been. We are suppose to see rain on Sunday. It's been almost a month that we've had any. I think it's time.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And the snow in my backyard still looks pretty... In a kinda-sorta kind of way.
-
DR Dan (the Man) - Any "desire" to listen to the "Mamma Mia!" soundtrack is "strange".
-
As for the Friday Media Check...
I did have to dig out a some sheet music earlier this week for some Beethoven sonatas, as well as some Barber and Weill songs. -Does that count?
-
DR JohnG - Hope you're having/had a great Cowboy Breakfast.
-
Note to DR MBarnum - A "Cowboy Breakfast" is not what you think it is.
;D

ROTFLMAO!
Greetings from Toyland. The puddles seem smaller today and shallower.
-
And now that my 9:00 breakfast partner is awake... ::)
Laters...
-
Wish I could attend the Cowboy Breakfast! But, alas, I must visit the physician. I sure hope The Oatmeal Experiment was a success.
-
Perhaps I shall howl all the way there.
-
Hope you get a great report at the doctor's office, DR Laura!
-
I received A DRY WHITE SEASON yesterday.
They have creams for that.

TOD:
I'll probably go out and rent RED.
And, if it arrives today, THE UNINVITED (Thank you Ron Pulliam)
Druxy, I started RED last night, about 3/4 of the way through. No great shakes, but enjoyable on its own terms. Mary-Louise Parker is a hoot, as is Helen Mirren.
-
TOD: right now listening to Britten's Double Concerto, but about to go upstairs to listen to two LPs I got on eBay, one by the vocal jazz group The Signatures, the other by Nancy Ames.
-
Perhaps I shall howl all the way there.
"Yippee-ki-yoh-ki-yay!
-
Note to DR MBarnum - A "Cowboy Breakfast" is not what you think it is.
;D
Well, of course not! George "Gabby" Hayes has been been dead for more than 40 YEARS!
-
And just when I had a hankering for a cowboy breakfast.

This ridiculously cold weather has been playing havoc on my health!
I'm sure that's why I have not been feeling too great since Tuesday (at least I was able to swim on Monday). But I have not been able to exercise at all since then. I can still get around. Just makes me much more tired. I had to sleep sitting up for 3 days cause of the drip in my throat. :(
-
I am currently wearing a scarf to keep my neck warm! :)
-
Last night I watched the latest John Abraham film, JOOTHA HI SAHI, which was a very sweet romantic drama. It was also nice to see an Indian film with gay supporting characters who weren't the flaming stereotypes usually seen in Hindi films.
(http://ajitkumar.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/jhootha-hi-sahi-release-date-2010.jpg)
The film is about a bookstore clerk in London whose home phone number is accidently printed on flyers for a suicide hotline. He ends up falling in love with one of the callers.
-
I'm up, the sky is blue, and I will shortly begin redoing lyrics.
-
Perhaps I shall howl all the way there.
"Yippee-ki-yoh-ki-yay!
More like MEO-O-O-O-O-OW!!!

I almost forgot to reserve my seats for Seth Rudetsky's Deconstructing Broadway next Thursday in Sioux City. It's free, just need a ticket. So, I decided to get two and invite Paul.

that should be fun. Saw him do that show in New Orleans.

Cowboy Breakfast was fun, but cold. Ate too much Polish sausage for too-dark-early in the morning.
-
TOD:
DVD: "Prince of Persia" and season two of "Bosom Buddies."
CD: Schubert, Mahler's 3rd, some instrumental music to read textbooks to.
Car CD: Disc 2 of Terry McMillan's "Getting to Happy," shaping up to be a good sequel to "Waiting to Exhale."

DR Jose I'm reading your responses to DR TCB and, :D

Make sure you cover you mouth and nose when you go outside to keep the cold out of your lungs.

Mark Salzman will be speaking in town as part of the Chautauqua poets & writers series. I'm trying to motivate myself to go out at night by myself. If it were summer I wouldn't hesitate but I don't like driving Keith's car which I will have to do if the weather turns icy.

Is today Edi's Greg's birthday? If so, birthday wishes.
If not, belated birthday wishes

I just read something interesting, "The Social Network” was directed by Ashland High School graduate David Fincher.

DR FJL you are correct.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Great Oatmeal Experiment was a success.
Excellent.
-
I bet you didn't have any oatmeal at The Cowboy Breakfast.
-
Congratulations DR Laura!!!
-
I bet you didn't have any oatmeal at The Cowboy Breakfast.
No, but there were biscuits. I'm actually surprised at the no oatmeal. McDonald's donates all the coffee and it just launched its oatmeal line. It would have been the perfect place to get people to try it.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Great Oatmeal Experiment was a success.
Congrats!

That's exactly the pun intended by the publisher New Directions when it was founded.
-
George, how is the "Just So" recording? I enjoyed those stories when I was younger.
Stiles and Drewe were working on "Just So" with Chris Jahnke in 1998 at Goodspeed. It is not the same musical version of "Just So" that I saw with Jason Graae and Andre deShields around 15 years ago. John Simn was so right when he titled his review "Just So is Just Awful."
I love "Virtue in Danger!" It's nearly as good as the Restoration comedy it's based on, "The Relapse" by Vanbrugh. There are two really good songs, "Why Do I Feel" and Patricia Routledge's "Wait A Little Longer, Lover."
-
George, how is the "Just So" recording? I enjoyed those stories when I was younger.
Well...since I don't know the stage show, I like the recording. The score is written by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, who also wrote Honk! and additional songs for the stage version of Mary Poppins.
-
Back from a sandwich and fries. I must say this lyric redo has got me stumped. I've at least organized the possibilities and will keep hammering away at it - maybe I should just send it to FJL.
-
I just had a fantastic phone conversation with my college friend Rebecca, whom I've not seen in about 14 years. It's even more criminal in that we live only 40 blocks apart. Rebecca's husband Danny Stone is one of my favorite actors and their daughter is now working on the tv series BROTHERS AND SISTERS.
-
The E. F. Benson Mapp and Lucia series is available at Gutenberg! I've seen the television series (from years ago) but I never read the books. Now I can get them for my Sony. Before I add the Benson books I have already put 160 books on the device. It's quite wonderful to have all these books at my disposal.
-
And now that my 9:00 breakfast partner is awake... ::)
Laters...
Is your breakfast partner a cowboy or the breakfast?

I don't know the show, either. I just know the Kipling stories.

I am morbidly fascinated by this picture of the board whose meeting began with a motion to call 9-1-1 for me. Deb, in the left foreground, followed the ambulance to the hospital and stayed in the ER with me until Richard arrived. The next person to the left is Genevieve, who now occupies the position from which I retired 2 years ago. I was probably feeling unwell when this photo was taken:
-
By comparison, here I am with Judy, the other retiring board member, at the same table 4 months later - a much healthier-looking person!
-
The gifts Judy and I were opening contained amaryllis bulbs and here's mine, all grown up:

Back from various and sundried errands and whatnot.

Thanks, DR George!

Don't dawdle, Amaryllis.

Ya wild, kid, ya.

Cool! Who's their daughter? Is she an actress or does she work behind the camera?

I love those flowers, Ginny. I was actually able to grow one once. Then I killed it. I do that with many house plants. My plants outside are a little livelier.

Awaiting our MD and the first of our merry cast of players, David Burnham.

She's working as an assistant, I think.

I remember how disappointed i was when I saw the film of AUDREY ROSE. I had enjoyed reading the book, and finding it rather creepy. The movie just layed there like so much fish.

I agree about the book. I found the movie horrifying for all the wrong reasons.

This has been an evening of long phone calls. My ears are burning from holding a receiver for too long.
-
It's not until November, but I've just been set to do the Austin Comic Con again this year.
At last November's event, I sold more than twice as many books than I've ever sold in a single day before.
:)
-
Beautiful flower, Ginny. And you look thinner in the second photo. :)
-
"A Dry White Season" has arrived in Tumwater!
-
DR JRand60, I got your package today. Thank you so much! I saw "Gargoyles" in the 1970s. It was so. I kept wondering where the Garboys were.
-
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Great Oatmeal Experiment was a success.
YEAH!!!!
-
Happy Birthday Greg!
-
Ginny, you not only look healthier in the second photo, you look a lot younger!
-
Whew! This week was insane. I was so busy getting ready for the hearing yesterday that I didn't get started on a brief I had due today until today. The clerk's office closed at 4:30 and I finished typing (I compose on the computer) at 4:15! I literally ran as fast as I could down 4 flights of stairs and the 2 1/2 blocks to the clerks office. I made it with 7 minutes to spare. Whew!!!
-
I NEVER cut it that close. I'm just really lucky I made it
-
That was close! Imagine if you had a problem with the printer.
-
I have three printers I can access from my computer, but I don't even want to thinka bout it
-
I'm off to my sister's house. Our parents are coming over for dinner (I had a late lunch, so I'm not hungry, at all) and then we're going to watch a movie. I don't know which, yet.
Until later!
-
Beautiful flower, Ginny. And you look thinner in the second photo. :)
Thanks, DR Laura - about 20 pounds...
-
Cillaliz, I think out here they do filings by email now.
-
Ginny, you not only look healthier in the second photo, you look a lot younger!
Thanks, DR Cillaliz. I'm really kind of glad to have the "before" (actually "during") photo to remind myself how much progress I've made.
-
PAGE FIVE!

Yummm...a Cowboy Breakfast sounds ideal to me, DR John G. Hope y'all have a great time!
Dan, you don't get to eat the cowboys!
-
And now that my 9:00 breakfast partner is awake... ::)
Laters...
Oh? ??? ??? ???
-
Cillaliz, I think out here they do filings by email now.
In federal court it's all electronic filing. I think it's spoiled me, I can file up to midnight. In state court you can only file when the clerk's office is open. They are moving toward electronic filing, just not there yet. We can serve on the other parties via email, which I did when I got back from the clerk's office
-
Ginny, you should be very proud of your progress.
-
And Laura you should be proud of the oatmeal experiment outcome
-
DR Ginny I enjoyed the photos, especially the one of healthy Ginny :) Thank goodness you arrived there BEFORE the attack & not in the car.
-
Thanks, Cilla. I am thrilled. So thrilled that I get to keep doing it.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Great Oatmeal Experiment was a success.
I think the Great Oatmeal Experiment is now called Taco Bell's taco meat.
-
Yes, DR Jane, I was certainly in the right place at the time. The person who took both pictures works at the hospital where I went and she visited me a couple of times while I was there.
-
Thanks, Cilla. I am thrilled. So thrilled that I get to keep doing it.
;D
-
LOL Jane, I was really breathing hard when I got there. I am not in shape, but I'm better than I was
-
Actually, I am very glad it worked. It's all natural, no drugs, and cheap. And it seems to be effective.
-
I love those flowers, Ginny. I was actually able to grow one once. Then I killed it. I do that with many house plants. My plants outside are a little livelier.
Hey, don't feel bad, John G., I kill plastic flowers.
-

I'm sure your adrenalin kicked in to help you get up those stairs. :) I ran up big steps on the trail today and was surprised how hard I was breathing. I need to do that stretch of the trail more often.
-
Ginny, I think you looke lovely in both photos!
-
Actually, I am very glad it worked. It's all natural, no drugs, and cheap. And it seems to be effective.
That's great. Just the other day Keith & I were talking about Oatmeal for cholesterol & he wondered if it really worked. Today, I'm very pleased to say, I was able to answer his question. :)

I was leaving the grocery store last night and the lady was throwing away bouquets of flowers. I asked her about it and she said the minute they show and mold or aging they have to throw them away. they looked fine to me, so I asked if she'd give them away, she asked if I saw one I liked and I said yes and she gave me a bouquet. I brought it home and it looks lovely today
-
Having that photo of yourself just before the "incident" would indeed be quite interesting, DR Ginny.
And we are all very happy that there was able to be a healthy "after" photo of you, as well!!!
-
I hope that the people of Egypt are able to get a government that actually cares about them.

The thing is, none of the ones I saw looked very old, just a tad bit wilted. I brought mine home, cut the stems, put them in water and they perked right back up. That's what I don't get
-
I have to put flowers in a place the cats either don't go to or can't reach. Callie and Boo are fine if I set them on the floor first and let them have a good sniff. I'm afraid of what Ricky will do, so I snuck them in and put them up. As far as I can tell he hasn't seen them yet

Good Evening!
Slushpocalypse 2011 is in full swing here in New York City.
Thankfully, after 15(!) years, my Timberland boots are still water- and slush-proof. :)

Tomorrow I'm going to replace the fill valve in the toilet on my main floor. Wish me luck. I've never done this before, but it doesn't look too hard. The one now wouldn't stop running and I have no idea how long it was running as much as it was. I shut the water off to it and tomorrow I'll clean out the tank and change the valve. I just can't see paying a plumber to do that
-
My cats love wheatgrass. I'm looking at some that's turning yellow. I need to plant another batch for them
-
DR Laura - Congrats on Your Great Oatmeal Experiment results! -So... How much longer will you be running this "experiment"? Will you be allowing yourself a "treat" every now and then?
-
I'm also going to go to The King's Speech on Sunday. I may go to Black Swan. I can't decide if I want to see it or not.
-
I'm thinking about watching Winter's Bone right now. I got it on Netflix. I'd never heard of it until the nominations came out
-
So, movie time.....laters
-
I find it cheaper to just buy it fully grown at Safeway, than to grow my own............ ah wheat grass,
-
Have a good time in the balcony, DR Cillaliz.
-Do they even make movie theaters with balconies anymore?

I always have to check the flowers in the markets to make sure they are ok. It is strange for sure. Maybe she also went by the date they arrived.

I'm thinking about watching Winter's Bone right now. I got it on Netflix. I'd never heard of it until the nominations came out
If you don't like it early on I suggest you stop watching. We felt the same way about THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, yet we watched both movies to the end.
-
I just finished watching RED.
I enjoyed it, but it would have worked better if the action wasn't so far over-the-top.
-
HHW vibes seem to work so well, that maybe I should ask for some vibes for my Lotto ticket tonight. I bought a Mega Millions ticket tonight. The jackpot is $77 million, but you can get $48.3 million as a one-time payment.
I promise to remember some of your names! ;D

~~~~~UN-HAVOC'D HEALTH VIBES TO DR JENNIFER~~~~~
Jose, do you know the opera singer I asked about the other day? He is doing BARBER OF SEVILLE in Seattle. I think his name is David Adam Moore.
-
And now that my 9:00 breakfast partner is awake... ::)
Laters...
Is your breakfast partner a cowboy or the breakfast?
Neither. He's an airline pilot/violinist.
-
G'night!
His name is familiar to me, but I don't think I've ever met him one-on-one.
DR Ginny - Your "After" picture is wonderful!
-
I love those flowers, Ginny. I was actually able to grow one once. Then I killed it. I do that with many house plants. My plants outside are a little livelier.
Well, amaryllis are supposed to be "temporary". I think. ::)
-
Airline pilot/violinist? I didn't know they had violinists on airplanes.
-
TCB your post syesterday made me laugh out loud!!!
-
and today was a day after which I desperatley needed a laugh
thankyou dear friend!!!
I keep forgetting that my DVR is set to record HOT IN CLEVELAND. That show cracks me up...and how hot is John Schnieder nowadays! 8)
We stopped watching. Who is he playing?
Jane, he was the hottie in the very first episode which Valerie Bertinelli's (sp) character slept with. Now she is engaged to a local police officer, and it turns out this guy is his brother! It was pretty funny.
-
Just found out, via Facebook, that my friend and interviewee Joe Lanza passed away yesterday. He was 88 years old.
Joe was a dance teacher in Hollywood and he danced in many tv shows and movies, including most of Colubmia studio's musicals of the 1950s such as DON'T KNOCK THE ROCK, ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK, CALYPSO HEATWAVE, and CHA CHA CHA BOOM!
He was quite a handsome man, also.
Well... How would you explain THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST16s4ABkxY)?
I was leaving the grocery store last night and the lady was throwing away bouquets of flowers. I asked her about it and she said the minute they show and mold or aging they have to throw them away. they looked fine to me, so I asked if she'd give them away, she asked if I saw one I liked and I said yes and she gave me a bouquet. I brought it home and it looks lovely today
I'm impressed she is so good about not selling old flowers. Nice you were the recipient of her good work. :)
If you keep them in the fridge overnight they will last for a very long time.
That you for the reminder & updating me on his character.
I am morbidly fascinated by this picture of the board whose meeting began with a motion to call 9-1-1 for me. Deb, in the left foreground, followed the ambulance to the hospital and stayed in the ER with me until Richard arrived. The next person to the left is Genevieve, who now occupies the position from which I retired 2 years ago. I was probably feeling unwell when this photo was taken:
I am so glad to see all those nice ladies that helped to keep you here with us
-
I bet you didn't have any oatmeal at The Cowboy Breakfast.
HURRAH!!!!!!!
do you also take fish oil? Vixdad swears by it
-
RE: HOT IN CLEVELAND. I thought we were up to the same point. But I just checked and you guys must be a week ahead of us. It is on here on Mondays. We just had the first episode last monday.
Ginny, I think you looke lovely in both photos!
You are too kind, DR TCB!
By comparison, here I am with Judy, the other retiring board member, at the same table 4 months later - a much healthier-looking person!
I like the slim trim look!
-
It's not until November, but I've just been set to do the Austin Comic Con again this year.
At last November's event, I sold more than twice as many books than I've ever sold in a single day before.
:)
VIBES for a repeat!
Thank you, DR Vixmom! And your comment about the other photo - yes, they are very good friends...
Here is Joe, and others, dancing to Bill Haley's RIP IT UP.
Joe, and his girlfriend at that time, Ruby, are the second couple featured. Joe does a dandy flip. You will notice that Ruby is about 2 heads taller then Joe. LOL! He was kind of a shorty.
I cannot explain that, DR Jose.
I take a statin pill, two fish pills per day, and oatmeal.
My cholesterol is a genetic thing. I am not making this up. I had some tests done that were more specific than regular cholesterol tests.
-
I am sorry for the loss of your friend, MBarnum.
-
I'm exhausted just watching that clip, MBarnum.
-
DR MBarnum - that's some dancing! Sorry to hear about your friend...
I think all the slush-puddle jumping I did today has taken it's toll. I'm already tired and sleepy. -Which isn't such a bad thing since I have to get up early tomorrow.
Goodnight.
Okay not really, but I am going to Disney
Rehearsal was fun - MD was better but really had to give him very specific notes about dynamics - he's really been hammering the piano. The singers are all great and I think the MD knows he still has a little more homework to do.
-
Then I went to the Studio Cafe and had a sandwich.
Went to the San Antonio Symphony tonight for the first concert with the new conductor, Sebastian Lang-Lessing. He has whipped the musicians into shape and they played at a new level for them. Their performance of the Shostakovich Symphony No. 5 was rousing.
Lilya Zilberstein was guest pianist for the Prokofiev Concerto No. 3, and she was fun to watch, using some great flourishes with what is admittedly a showy piece.
But to me, the short opener, Wagner's Overture to Reinzi was the best showcase for the symphony itself because the strings have never been crisper and more together, and the sound they made was majestic.
The symphony has been in Chapter 11 twice in the past 13 years. I'm hoping this signals a new era for a group this city really needs and doesn't wholly appreciate.
