In other news...

My past 48 hours turned out to be quite unexpectedly busy. Thankfully, the recording sessions with my friend went well, and all of the rest of the "stuff" I had to take care of also went well. Things just ended up running much longer than planned, expected.  And there are still a few things that I need to take care of this afternoon.

Of course... We're supposed to get some more snow tomorrow and possibly on Wednesday... Hopefully, that won't interfere with my flight to Memphis on Thursday morning.

For some reason I never liked DANCES WITH WOLVES.

Good morning, all! I am at Toyland following a McGlinn meeting: around 2:45 yesterday afternoon my computer crashed and burned one more time. That was the end of my internet service. A frep with Roadrunner told me I needed a new modem which I picked up this morning around 8:30, before my meeting. I stopped by Toyland to check for any important emails and to explain my E&T behavior.

I will go home now, see if the new modem solves the problem and either cancel or wait for the Time Warner service man to show up between 2 and 5. Oy.

Once I'm up and running I will catch up on things.

So, I just got a phone call that the orientation and the first day of the residency are now on Thursday, not Wednesday. So I have an entire free day in the cold of upstate New York to do nothing. Why couldn't they have told me this sooner? I wouldn't have booked the flight, the hotel room, etc. It's a very costly little change.
But I'm grateful for a day off.

Back from my last errands before the impending ice-pocalypse.  I went to the library to pick up some items they were holding for me that I was going to get tomorrow when I went to my grantwriters' meeting.  I have not been able to convince myself that tomorrow will be a good to day to drive to Dayton.  Just Rob can get home from his hospital practice tonight and that his fire class is canceled tomorrow.

George, SEA MARKS was written by the late Gardner McKay.  He used to be on one my favorite TV shows when I was a kid, called ADVENTURES IN PARADISE.  Before your time, but I have a sneaking hunch that MBarnum would know his name.

This is what Jim Castillo, the World's Sexiest Weatherman, said about the coming storm:

"a very bad winter storm for Kansas City, St. Louis & Chicago Monday thru Wednesday with ice, snow, wind & bitter cold! I talked with many relatives, they are salting the driveways & getting non perishable foods in case the power goes out. It's going to be big."

Yes, Jim Castillo (http://www.jimcastillo.com/) is very sexy. ;)

It's snowing like crazy.  We had freezing rain for a little while this morning, but not too bad. About 3:00 I looked out and it was snowing a little more and I figured the storm was moving in.  So I packed up my work, told Edith we should leave. She said "My husband wishes he had a boss like you" lol.  He teases her by saying any time the weather is bad she'll get to stay home.  I figure it's better to be safe than sorry and I bring work home, so it's not a big deal.   She has the phone numbers for all our appointments tomorrow and if we have to close, I'll have her call everyone.  I'm not convinced we'll be closed, but am pretty sure we may be late.  The wind is bad and we may get 7 inches of snow.

Rehearsal session went very well - we got through everything, I cut one duet, and the show should play very well now.  There's a somewhat daunting Annie Get Your Gun medley (they both have always wanted to do the show so we made a sort of tab version that runs ten minutes), but the songs are so great that it's worth devoting the ten minutes to.  The special material thing which is what the lyric redo was for worked like a charm.  Very, very funny.

There are 3 lanes for swimming: fast, medium and slow. I always like to go to the medium lane so i don't have to kill myself to keep u with the 20 year old guys who swim really fast.

But there are some people in swim in the medium lane who are very slow. And normally they drive me insane (which is why i usually end up in the fast lane).

The thing that bugs me more than them being slow is that they have no perception that they are slowing others down.  If I was the slowest I would go to the back of the line, not try to go in front of people.

Ok, got my work done for today. All payroll taxes paid, W-2 and W-3 done and filed and supplemental pleading that was due is electronically filed.   I am thrilled that February is at least starting out to be a fairly low stress month.  That could change in a heartbeat, but no jury trials, no individual immigration hearings, etc.  I have an appeal brief due next Monday, but other than that, it's mostly routine and new consultations.   It seems that we put so many things off so people can be home for the holidays that January is insane.  February seems like the beginning of a new year, lol

It wasn't until I looked at the national weather map that I understood what all the "fuss" was/is about.  Yes, some areas will get hit pretty hard, while others may just get a dusting of snow. However, the storm front could stretch all the way from Oklahoma City to Boston! -Yep, that's a BIG STORM!
