Well, you've read the notes, the notes marched right along, and now it is time for you to post until the marching cows come home.

Can't put this on ATC, but I did put it in the NY Times comment box, and it came to me really thinking of it in Larry's and WHERE'S CHARLEY's honor, though I was afraid to write that, lest someone call me a shill for the show because of friends involved.  :)  Also knowing how the Loesser people feel about parodies of his work, which I learned last summer when i got a nasty legal note, so i shall not YouTube this.

Tune of ONCE IN LOVE WITH AMY

Once you’re hooked by Encores,
You’re always hooked by Encores
Season by season, hear the giddy voices,
Wondering what the choices will be

Once you’re struck by Encores,
You’re always stuck on Encores
Each time you go to New York City Center,
You are sure to enter with glee

Nervous of the coming renovation,
Of which we’ve been told
Checked out the brand new seating situation,
And I am sold

So I’ve been hooked on Encores,
Now I’m more hooked on Encores
Season by season, ever edifying,
Shows that we’ve been dying to see
Now Encores is even more fine with me.

Good morning, all! I've sent a letter of inquiry to the foundation asking if, rather than sending an express mail, they could wire the funds to my account. I may not hear from them the rest of the day, but I've done what I can to prevent disaster at this end. It does amaze me: I work for two institutions, one of them for 10 years now, both run by wealthy men, and we cannot be paid by either in a regular, orderly payment plan.

So, today I can do little; I don't have enough money to refill my metrocard, so a trip to Toyland is out of the question. I can walk to the NYPL, so I believe that will be today's work center.

SO, I have discovered that my payment woes really are as bad, if not worse, than I thought they would be.   The feds said that the funds to pay court appointed criminal lawyers ran out in February so they quit paying fee claims on Feb 23.  If a new continuing resolution passes, they will start paying the claims in the order they have been approved until the funding runs out then they don't pay until more funding is passed.  I found out this morning that my big fee claim made it to the first judge and is now on it's way to St Louis for approval by the second judge.  Since it hasn't been approved yet, it's going to be at the back of the line when the fee claims start being paid.

And, they project that there is no way they will have enough funds to pay the entire fiscal year even if a continuing resolution passes, so this means that any outstanding claims that haven't been paid in August will not be paid until a new budget takes effect in October or whenever the &*#6 people in Washington can agree on one.

I am glad I will not be depending on the feds for my income in the future, but this really makes things difficult.

And my cable and internet do seem to be fixed, however, it does seem that Time-Warner has still been doing some work in the neighborhood over the past 48 hours or so. I keep seeing TWC trucks parked here and there, and sometimes the cable and/or internet drops out for 30 seconds at a time. I guess someone is jiggling some wires. ;)

I'm glad you got out of there, too.

I called the judge's assistant to see where my fee claim was in the system and she told me that all the lawyers are totally freaking out and calling her about it.  She didn't realize that we had been told that it would be first approved, first paid, so everyone is making sure their claims have been approved.  Funny, I'm really not freaking out now.  After all the struggling with the decision to get out, I made it before before I knew of the budgetary issues.    I'm really hoping I get it before taxes are due, but if not, I'll figure something out.

Can't put this on ATC, but I did put it in the NY Times comment box, and it came to me really thinking of it in Larry's and WHERE'S CHARLEY's honor, though I was afraid to write that, lest someone call me a shill for the show because of friends involved.  :)  Also knowing how the Loesser people feel about parodies of his work, which I learned last summer when i got a nasty legal note, so i shall not YouTube this.

Tune of ONCE IN LOVE WITH AMY

Once you’re hooked by Encores,
You’re always hooked by Encores
Season by season, hear the giddy voices,
Wondering what the choices will be

Once you’re struck by Encores,
You’re always stuck on Encores
Each time you go to New York City Center,
You are sure to enter with glee

Nervous of the coming renovation,
Of which we’ve been told
Checked out the brand new seating situation,
And I am sold

So I’ve been hooked on Encores,
Now I’m more hooked on Encores
Season by season, ever edifying,
Shows that we’ve been dying to see
Now Encores is even more fine with me.

Very nice, Fred!

I'm surprised this is happening. The book had better be plenty different. I remember reading the original book and wondering, What was Lerner smoking? Nothing, apparently. But he was under the influence of other drugs at the time. That didn't stop Burton Lane from producing some of his loveliest melodies.

I do want to see the show but I'm slightly annoyed. I bought an "artists membership" at Vineyard Theatre specifically because the new production of OACDYCSF was part of the season. It was moved off the season a few months ago (we were notified about that). Somehow I doubt that I'll get any kind of break for a ticket to the Broadway version. Oh, well.

Harry is playing the doctor (John Cullum/Yves Montand) role, according to PLaybill:

Here's how they bill the show: "Love blooms in unexpected places in the delightfully reimagined world of On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. Still in love with his deceased wife, Dr. Mark Bruckner (Harry Connick, Jr.), a dashing psychiatrist and professor, unknowingly takes on the case of his life with David Gamble, a quirky young florists' assistant.

Hi all!   Glad to read that DR Elmore got his money.

Vibes to Cilla--we are sort of in the same boat.  The FDBPR recovery fund has had my application since October but it hasn't made it down the list to be approved.  Even if it was approved I was told that the funds are not there to pay the claim and they are 2 years or more behind in paying anything.  There is a hope because they changed way the fund is funded.  But with this new governor we are saddled with (the same idiot who wants to turn down the Federal Funding for the high speed train ie JOBS) it is possible that he will stop the program before I get anywhere near that money.

Sigh.

Well, I had some excitement last night.  Was sitting here watching TV, minding my own business when I heard a super LOUD crash.  I went outside and the neighbors tree had a very large section fall.  Not on my side (this time).  Thank goodness no one or their car/home was hit or hurt.

I hate to say it but I think they are going to have to take the rest of the tree down.  It just keeps dropping branches.

That's the same tree that nearly killed me.  I was painting a table back when I was trying to move back into the house and the guy I had working on the bathroom (that was after Turner) needed something from Home Depot.  He didn't know this area very well so even though I didn't want to, I went and got the what-ever-it-was (can't remember what) for him.

When I pulled back into the driveway, the table I was working on was smashed beyond repair because a large branch from that same tree had fell and hit it.  If I had been there painting that table like I wanted to.........

The good news is that we are now past the point of possible freezing temperatures. This year has been very strange. It usually never freezes in February, yet we had TWO hard freezes.

I today I cut back my frozen lantana bush. Sigh. There are probably thirty shrubs that need to be cut back at the church, though.

It's old and you can see it's not in very good shape.  You don't have to be an expert to see the difference between that oak tree and the one in my front yard.

TCB, this is what i received:  (note I hadn't made a request.  they created a request out of thin air, then denied it.  :) )

"Regardless of what you have been told, it is not permissible to alter a copyrighted lyric without permission, even if it is solely for a website and no money is earned as a result. Frank Music Corp. does not allow any changes of lyric to our copyrights, therefore your request to do so is denied. Good thing they didn't know about What If and our Guys and Dolls parody - but they couldn't have done one damn thing about it despite what they say.

After a little drama with one of our singers (her car got towed and she was fifteen minutes late, and then had to leave right at six, so we were really up against her time crunch) - it all worked out fine, but we are so clear about the stumble-through day and that no one should put us in that time crunch because it impacts everyone.  But all was well and the stumble-through went very well - a couple of accompaniment hiccups but that's to be expected and we worked on those moments.

Thanks DR TCB.  I somehow get the feeling my Mom had something to do with that as well.

That same guy told me that before that tree limb fell, he thought he heard someone in the house and stuck his head out the bathroom.  He claims he saw me in the living room and wondered why I hadn't left yet because he thought he heard Bonny start (and I had).  He said "she" looked very much like me.   But when he blinked, she was gone.

Not saying but just saying, if you know what I mean.

Thanks FJL.   It's happening to lots of people.  I'm lucky that I have other areas of my practice so that I can make up for it.  I was counting on it in February and made it through without it, so I think I'm past the worst part.  I'm just pretending that I'm never going to get it and that way when it does finally come, it will be a major celebration.

On a happy note.....the Estherville Midgettes (the female version of our Midget mascot) basketball team won their first game at the state girls basketball tournament.   Girls basketball has always been a big deal in Iowa.  Not as big since they went from 6 on 6 to 5 on 5, but towns still practically shut down to take bus loads of people to the tourney.   I went once. It was fun

First night of Altar Boyz rehearsal.  I think this will be fun.  But the best part of the evening was when I was handed an envelope with three floppy discs in it labeled "keyboard programming" for the KORG Triton Studio (which is my keyboard).  I lept for joy at the hours it will save.  Why can't every show have these???
