Well, you've read the notes, the notes marched right along, and now it is time for you to post until the marching cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: COSSET!
-
Welcome thirteen GUESTS.
-
I.
Can't.
Sleep.
Cats.
Won't.
Let.
Me.
-
really, it's quite upsetting. I can't remember the last time I've had a really good night's sleep without having the cats wake me over and over.
-
I just took 2 aleve and will wait until it kicks in and try to go back to bed
-
I
can't
sleep
think
I'm
getting
sick
-
still having some residual computer issues
-
couldn't post yesterday
-
payment vibes for Elmore
-
vibes for all good things for one and all

going to try and sleep again
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
I.
Can't.
Sleep.
My.
Body.
Hurts.

Can't put this on ATC, but I did put it in the NY Times comment box, and it came to me really thinking of it in Larry's and WHERE'S CHARLEY's honor, though I was afraid to write that, lest someone call me a shill for the show because of friends involved. :) Also knowing how the Loesser people feel about parodies of his work, which I learned last summer when i got a nasty legal note, so i shall not YouTube this.
Tune of ONCE IN LOVE WITH AMY
Once you’re hooked by Encores,
You’re always hooked by Encores
Season by season, hear the giddy voices,
Wondering what the choices will be
Once you’re struck by Encores,
You’re always stuck on Encores
Each time you go to New York City Center,
You are sure to enter with glee
Nervous of the coming renovation,
Of which we’ve been told
Checked out the brand new seating situation,
And I am sold
So I’ve been hooked on Encores,
Now I’m more hooked on Encores
Season by season, ever edifying,
Shows that we’ve been dying to see
Now Encores is even more fine with me.
-
Wellness vibes to Laura and to vixmom
-
Now both Skip and I are coughing up a veritable storm.
-
It's been a long time since I've had a rattling cough that actually caused pain, i think not since before we had the dogs.
-
Good morning, all! I've sent a letter of inquiry to the foundation asking if, rather than sending an express mail, they could wire the funds to my account. I may not hear from them the rest of the day, but I've done what I can to prevent disaster at this end. It does amaze me: I work for two institutions, one of them for 10 years now, both run by wealthy men, and we cannot be paid by either in a regular, orderly payment plan.
So, today I can do little; I don't have enough money to refill my metrocard, so a trip to Toyland is out of the question. I can walk to the NYPL, so I believe that will be today's work center.
-
I.
Can't.
Sleep.
'Cause.
I'm.
At.
Work.
(not that that has stopped me before...)

I've had a dry hacky cough since January.

Can't tell if March has come in like a lamb or lion today. It's clear and bright, but it's also cold (45, instead of the 75 we've had these past few days).

I'm happy to see that I've started something.
I can't decide if my favorite buddy movie is ROAD TO MOROCCO or ROAD TO UTOPIA.

SO, I have discovered that my payment woes really are as bad, if not worse, than I thought they would be. The feds said that the funds to pay court appointed criminal lawyers ran out in February so they quit paying fee claims on Feb 23. If a new continuing resolution passes, they will start paying the claims in the order they have been approved until the funding runs out then they don't pay until more funding is passed. I found out this morning that my big fee claim made it to the first judge and is now on it's way to St Louis for approval by the second judge. Since it hasn't been approved yet, it's going to be at the back of the line when the fee claims start being paid.
And, they project that there is no way they will have enough funds to pay the entire fiscal year even if a continuing resolution passes, so this means that any outstanding claims that haven't been paid in August will not be paid until a new budget takes effect in October or whenever the &*#6 people in Washington can agree on one.
I am glad I will not be depending on the feds for my income in the future, but this really makes things difficult.
-
I also found out that there are claims that were submitted in October that haven't been paid yet. Crap.
-

Hacky cough
Keep coughing hacky cough
Cough about things you'd like to -
oh, wait, bad taste! Or maybe a TV commercial idea? :)
Now I can't get Hacky Cough out of my head. It would make a catchy jingle, I think.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I just got back from running a few errands, and now I need to spend a few hours cleaning and doing some laundry around the apartment. Oh, and pack for my trip to Atlanta for SETC tomorrow morning.
-
DR Jose - I'm remembering the fun we had a year ago in Lexington and wishing I could be in Atlanta this week!
-
And my cable and internet do seem to be fixed, however, it does seem that Time-Warner has still been doing some work in the neighborhood over the past 48 hours or so. I keep seeing TWC trucks parked here and there, and sometimes the cable and/or internet drops out for 30 seconds at a time. I guess someone is jiggling some wires. ;)

DR Jose - I'm remembering the fun we had a year ago in Lexington and wishing I could be in Atlanta this week!
DR Ginny - Well, don't they have direct flights from Dayton to Atlanta? ;)

More likely from Cincinnati - don't tempt me, DR Jose!
-
I also found out that there are claims that were submitted in October that haven't been paid yet. Crap.
I had no idea my employers worked for your state!
Not the state, the feds
-
They didn't pay my salary - they funded a couple of research projects that I headed - and brought Federal $$$ into the department.
Ah, then you do get it.
-
I'm glad you got out of there, too.
I called the judge's assistant to see where my fee claim was in the system and she told me that all the lawyers are totally freaking out and calling her about it. She didn't realize that we had been told that it would be first approved, first paid, so everyone is making sure their claims have been approved. Funny, I'm really not freaking out now. After all the struggling with the decision to get out, I made it before before I knew of the budgetary issues. I'm really hoping I get it before taxes are due, but if not, I'll figure something out.
-
I have an appointment with the Chiro at 2:00 today. He was right when he said I'd know if I needed to go back
-
Other than that, it's a beautiful day out, the sun is shining. It's already 34 degrees. So March is coming in like a Lamb here

Oh, the pearl and the pumpkin should be friends!
Oh, the pearl and the pumpkin should be friends!

The other's grown in Viet Nam
But that's no reason why they can't be friends!

I'm surprised this is happening. The book had better be plenty different. I remember reading the original book and wondering, What was Lerner smoking? Nothing, apparently. But he was under the influence of other drugs at the time. That didn't stop Burton Lane from producing some of his loveliest melodies.
-
I do want to see the show but I'm slightly annoyed. I bought an "artists membership" at Vineyard Theatre specifically because the new production of OACDYCSF was part of the season. It was moved off the season a few months ago (we were notified about that). Somehow I doubt that I'll get any kind of break for a ticket to the Broadway version. Oh, well.
-
Someone posted that the Vineyard will provide tickets at the Vineyard cost to their subscribers for the B'way On A Clear Day. That said, this revisal sounds like it's from hunger.

I assume that Harry will be playing the doctor?

Nope, Harry is playing the Barbara Harris/Barbra Streisand role.

March is pretty lamb-like here in SW Ohio, too - sunny and 45o at noon.
We are expecting snow tomorrow night.
Not in Olympia (http://www.weather.com/weather/today/Olympia+WA+98501).

And . . .
I am solvent again. After several truly panicky emails last night, the foundation in Philadelphia transferred the last invoice payment to my account this morning, and the funds have landed. Thank you all for the vibes!
They've told me this will not happen again, and I hope it's true.
Congratulations!! Hopefully, you'll never have to go through this again!
-
DR Elmore, I'm really glad you got your money....could you please call the feds for me and see about my fee claim :)
Thank you, dear! I called them for you about an hour ago. I'm still on hold.
I just finished and sent off my first pass at notes on the Herbert recording. My next research, which terrifies me, ihas to do with info and dates on all the German poets whose texts were set to music. This could be horrifying since I don't speak or read German. Why the hell couldn't he have set French poets?

Since I trust no one - my mother brought me up to be paranoid - I expect it all to fasll apart by the next payment date.

Happy National Peanut Butter Day!!
Guess I shall have to have some encased in chocolate and then frozen in vanilla ice cream.
Well, it is also National Pig Day! So we need to add some bacon .

I notice this version only happened after Burton Lane, who would have kiboshed it, is dead. Heirs are not necessarily the brightest bulbs in the lamp but they can be the greediest.

TCB, this is what i received: (note I hadn't made a request. they created a request out of thin air, then denied it. :) )
"Regardless of what you have been told, it is not permissible to alter a copyrighted lyric without permission, even if it is solely for a website and no money is earned as a result. Frank Music Corp. does not allow any changes of lyric to our copyrights, therefore your request to do so is denied. Any unauthorized changes will be considered tantamount to willful copyright infringement and may result in legal action."

Harry is playing the doctor (John Cullum/Yves Montand) role, according to PLaybill:
Here's how they bill the show: "Love blooms in unexpected places in the delightfully reimagined world of On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. Still in love with his deceased wife, Dr. Mark Bruckner (Harry Connick, Jr.), a dashing psychiatrist and professor, unknowingly takes on the case of his life with David Gamble, a quirky young florists' assistant.

At least I can't imagine Harry playing the gay florist assistant.

I misread. I thought he was playing David Gamble

Justin Bieber is 17 today. Just thought I'd mention that

It was the character's name he objected to. No David. Only Mark.

I'm leaving work...early, for once. I'm off to my sister's for a bit, then home.
Until later!

Are you kidding? My middle name is Pig. It was just something different for an evening.

Hi all! Glad to read that DR Elmore got his money.
Vibes to Cilla--we are sort of in the same boat. The FDBPR recovery fund has had my application since October but it hasn't made it down the list to be approved. Even if it was approved I was told that the funds are not there to pay the claim and they are 2 years or more behind in paying anything. There is a hope because they changed way the fund is funded. But with this new governor we are saddled with (the same idiot who wants to turn down the Federal Funding for the high speed train ie JOBS) it is possible that he will stop the program before I get anywhere near that money.
Sigh.
-
I hope your feeling better DR Ginny. Take care of yourself.
-
I also hope that your feeling better, DR Laura.
-
Computer vibes for DR Vixmom!

Thanks, Danise. I did yard work around my own yard today. Somehow that hurts less.
-
Well, I had some excitement last night. Was sitting here watching TV, minding my own business when I heard a super LOUD crash. I went outside and the neighbors tree had a very large section fall. Not on my side (this time). Thank goodness no one or their car/home was hit or hurt.
I hate to say it but I think they are going to have to take the rest of the tree down. It just keeps dropping branches.
That's the same tree that nearly killed me. I was painting a table back when I was trying to move back into the house and the guy I had working on the bathroom (that was after Turner) needed something from Home Depot. He didn't know this area very well so even though I didn't want to, I went and got the what-ever-it-was (can't remember what) for him.
When I pulled back into the driveway, the table I was working on was smashed beyond repair because a large branch from that same tree had fell and hit it. If I had been there painting that table like I wanted to.........

I'm glad. It's not good to read that someone is hurting.
-
Take care of that cough, DR Dan (the man). We have to many people at the office with one that they can't seem to lose either.

My son, David, is coming into town today for a 5 day visit.
First time he's been to Austin.
:)
:) Have a wonderful visit.
Ditto!

I also hope they take the rest of the tree down.

Danise, it's just the aches of yard work. If I did yard work all the time, I'd be fine.

G'night!

The good news is that we are now past the point of possible freezing temperatures. This year has been very strange. It usually never freezes in February, yet we had TWO hard freezes.
I today I cut back my frozen lantana bush. Sigh. There are probably thirty shrubs that need to be cut back at the church, though.

It's old and you can see it's not in very good shape. You don't have to be an expert to see the difference between that oak tree and the one in my front yard.

Today I planted several plants, since we are past the freezing stage.

Good thing they didn't know about What If and our Guys and Dolls parody - but they couldn't have done one damn thing about it despite what they say.
-
After a little drama with one of our singers (her car got towed and she was fifteen minutes late, and then had to leave right at six, so we were really up against her time crunch) - it all worked out fine, but we are so clear about the stumble-through day and that no one should put us in that time crunch because it impacts everyone. But all was well and the stumble-through went very well - a couple of accompaniment hiccups but that's to be expected and we worked on those moments.

Thanks DR TCB. I somehow get the feeling my Mom had something to do with that as well.
That same guy told me that before that tree limb fell, he thought he heard someone in the house and stuck his head out the bathroom. He claims he saw me in the living room and wondered why I hadn't left yet because he thought he heard Bonny start (and I had). He said "she" looked very much like me. But when he blinked, she was gone.
Not saying but just saying, if you know what I mean.

Interesting. :)

I am having a gin and tonic and then I am heading to bed. I have to be at the NYU Dental clinic at 8:30am tomorrow.

Vibes to you too, Danise, I think we really are all in the same boat with the economy and our situations. Kind of nice to know that we're not alone.

Of course, after DR Danise's story, I have the theme song to "George of the Jungle" going through my head. ::)
-
And now...
I'm gonna pack my luggage, and then try to get a few hours of sleep before I head to airport around 6:30am.
Goodnight.

Cilla, catching up and hoping all works out! That really stinks about the payments.
-
Thanks FJL. It's happening to lots of people. I'm lucky that I have other areas of my practice so that I can make up for it. I was counting on it in February and made it through without it, so I think I'm past the worst part. I'm just pretending that I'm never going to get it and that way when it does finally come, it will be a major celebration.
-
I guess Elmore's conversation is why I brought it up again. Misery loves company.
-
I've been sitting with the heat pad most of the night and I'm feeling a little better. I'm going to take a couple aleve and hope the cats let me sleep through the night. I think that would really improve my shoulder and my attitude

On a happy note.....the Estherville Midgettes (the female version of our Midget mascot) basketball team won their first game at the state girls basketball tournament. Girls basketball has always been a big deal in Iowa. Not as big since they went from 6 on 6 to 5 on 5, but towns still practically shut down to take bus loads of people to the tourney. I went once. It was fun

Hooray for E'ville, Hooray for E'ville. Someone in the stands was yelling "Hooray for E'ville" 1-2-3-4 who you gonna yell for, E'ville that's who.

Oh Nightline is having the best and worst product tag lines....I guess Kentucky Fried Chicken is retiring "finger lickin good"

Finished with my viewing.

Read the last 2 days of posts. The 25 pages for the day before will have to be tomorrow.
Just got really tired.
Night, sweet dreams.

First night of Altar Boyz rehearsal. I think this will be fun. But the best part of the evening was when I was handed an envelope with three floppy discs in it labeled "keyboard programming" for the KORG Triton Studio (which is my keyboard). I lept for joy at the hours it will save. Why can't every show have these???
