Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of both Joyce and Val Kilmer's Trees, and now it is time for you to post until Val Kilmer's Cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LEBENSRAUM!
-
Welcome seven GUESTS.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I somehow managed to sleep through my alarms, but I'm NOT running late... Although, in about two minutes, I will be, so...
-
Thanks for the Travel Vibes - they are probably what woke me up! - and...
Laters....
-
Safe travels!
-
good morning all.
WOW! A total unexpected TOD for a Wednesday. I can't remember the last time we veered from the "Ask BK" Wednesday roundup.
-
Good morning, all! I have about 45 minutes before I leave fro the NYU Dental Clinic, so let's have another cup of coffee!
After the clinic, I will drag my butt to Toyland and continue with the final Act One edits.
That's my day.
TOD:
Piano: Arthur Rubinstein, Robert Casadesus
Violin: Yehudi Menuhin
Cello: Yo-Yo Ma

FYI, for anyone who might be interested, or just haning around the magazine rack at Borders, my interview with the lovely actress Jewell Lain is in the March issue of CLASSIC IMAGES.
Jewell appeared in TONS of television in the 50s an 60s as well as radio work in NY and starring roles in the films CRASH LANDING (1958) and SUICIDE BATTALION (1958)
Here she is with co-star Roger Smith in the disaster flick CRASH LANDING.

PS: If you like, you can request a free sample issue of CLASSIC IMAGES at their website www.classicimages.com
(just scoll to the bottom of the page)
-
TOD: I'm a sucker for violins, and two of the best out there are Joshua Bell and Elmar Oliveira.
For piano, Jon Kimura Parker tickles my ivory sensibilities.
-
My copy of CLASSIC IMAGES should arrive soon....it may be the last on my subscription.
-
Val Kilmer IS Moses!
-
I have spent the morning making a recording so that my brother can set the guitar chords for my song that I will be singing with the Family Band next week....
No sheet music is available - I bought the 45 rpm records 45 years ago for ten cents.....both sides are gems.....but I will be singing "Treasures With the Trash" originally sung and written by Jenny Clay.

And of course....SOLD OUT HOUSE vibes as well.
I wonder which celebrities will turn up?

Well, it is the latest thing, you know.

-
Good morning, all.
-
I, too, can't remember the TOD shifting on a Wednesday but I'm a hip, 1970s kind of guy. I can go with changes.
TOD: I've seen Itzhak Perlman perform several times and conduct once, so I guess he qualifies. But I don't think that I have any recordings because of the performer, except for Gould's Goldberg Variations.
-
Why are we still on Page 1?
-
I know, I've been a stranger and I've been meaning to get on this here site for days to say thanks for the good vibes and concern for my broken wrist. Even with me being a stranger, many of you HHWers tracked me down through Cason's facebook page and got the vibes to me. You folks are just the greatest -- so sweet and caring. Thanks!
-
And here, I thought no year could top 2010 (lots of reasons why I've been a stranger) for nuttiness, and then 2011 comes along. Despite my wrist, a broken boiler in the theatre (2 weeks no heat!) but fixed in time for opening night, snow storms, etc., Inherit opened to great reviews, standing 0 each night for the first 4, now final four performances this weekend -- then we're done (Cason and I co-directed). I'll try to get Case to post some photos of the set and cast in action.
-
And many more vibes to you and all in need.
-
Page two!
-
Shoot, I can't even get us off page 1 ....
-
Whoops, never mind... John G got us flipped to Page 2...
-
The wrist thing happened a week ago Monday, finishing up set and prop stuff in time for Press Night -- ice masked by snow as I went to the construction shed out back to get some stuff we had made, went down and the arm hit a rock hidden by the snow. Bad enough break to require surgery. Got a little plate and some screws in there so the mend will be a little more complicated, but I'm doing fine and can actually do more than I realized left-handed. The show must go on ....
-
Val Kilmer's cows? Hmmmm, well, guess they'd beat Charlie Sheen's cows any day ....
-
Now, Karen, that's not fair -- shouldn't judge a cow by its owner ...
-
Oops, look at the time -- enough mini-frenzy (a little gift for DR RonnieP -- he loves 'em so). Adios!
-
I'm up, I'm up. I woke up early, like before it was light, but I just stayed in bed and eventually fell asleep again, so I guess I got a good night's sleep.

Such news from DR MISS KAREN.....

The payment was the tip of the iceberg for dreadful occurrences in my current life. Toyland was shut down today so four friends and I are now unemployed. I don't know if this is a permanent or temporary state but I do know that it wasn't entirely unexpected.
I am now considering my options.

Oh, no, Elmore! That's terrible!

Miss Karen, that was some mighty fine typing you did with a broken wrist. I certainly couldn't type when I had a broken wrist. I am impressed.

elmore, you seemed so busy lately - many projects for solo artists, Where's Charley and all your other stuff.
Too many jobs in the past couple of months, and one's been really aggravating lately. The Toyland work was something that came and went in volume depending on my colleagues and their outside projects. I can only edit what's given to me, and even my notes, reports, etc. often depend on another proffreader/editor to look over what I've done. What I don't know about the Toyland shutdown is if it will start up again and when, or what of the incompleted work - besides my personal books, piano, ephemera - belongs to me.
-
I'm trying to find a better cost on my bone medication. Once I purchase a 28 day supply I will have reached my detectable-ouch!
-
Only two pages and it is already three o'clock on the Left Coast???
-
I know. I'm trying to get some work done.
-
I'm also trying to find a photo I saw on facebook last night. I accidentally closed it before showing the photo to Keith. I want him to duplicate the photo, only using Sherlock. My problem is I can't get to a second page of older posts on FB which I find very annoying.

Sound check was fine. The singer who provided yesterday's drama didn't show up - since she's never been in the Gardenia that's a little problematic. She eventually got there but we'd already left fifteen minutes earlier after having been there an hour. She had a call back for something at two - she said she'd get there early, which I doubt she did. But even so, call backs for commercials don't take an hour and she was literally five minutes from the club.
-
Needless to say, this will be her last journey with Kritzerland. She'll get there early tonight and I'll show her what's what as best I can.

It would have to be played by Charles Atlas to get DR MBarnum to sit through it!

I'm a bit nervous about tonight's house. Just had two cancellations and we weren't that great to begin with. Enough dinners, certainly, at twenty-five, but I'm really hoping the show-only people show up in droves.

Thawed some pizza crust to make dinner, but I didn't take the dough out of the freezer soon enough, so dinner may be 10 p.m. tonight. Ugh.

DR ELMORE - so sorry to hear about TOYLAND.....somewhere a window is opening, I am sure.

Yes, too bad this will be her LAST show for MR BK.

Wednesday evening greetings! Would anyone be surprised to learn that I spent last night and all day today at Miami Valley Hospital?
One of the things my cardiologist had told me to watch for was shoulder pain and Monday evening my left shoulder began to hurt. I finally talked to the cardio's nurse late yesterday afternoon. She thought it might not be a bad idea to have it checked, so Richard and I drove to Miami Valley. If I'd been having the symptoms I had Aug. 3, we'd have called 9-1-1 and gone to our local hospital, but this didn't seem so urgent and I really wanted to be treated by my doctor and his colleagues. They pretty much determined in the ER that I was not having a heart attack, but kept me overnight and did the stress test today that had been scheduled for March 14. I passed that with flying colors and am really glad to have it behind me. Seven minutes on the treadmill, top speed 3.4 mph, max heart rate 180. Got home about 6:30 tonight.
You don't suppose there might be some stress residing in my shoulder, do you?

DR Ginny, you have to stop these desperate bids for attention. You will hurt yourself.

Yikes, Ginny! I'm glad everything is ok. Good for you for passing the stress test. All that marching around the basement paid off!
-
LOL,DR Elmore! Trust me, I've seen and dealt with enough attention grabs to know better than to try it myself.
I was sorry to read about the Toyland developments.
-
I am sure that this will make MBarnum very jealous. I just received an e-mail informing me that Mr.MOHAMMAD ASRAF had been killed in a recent AirIndia plane crash. The good news is that I have been selected to receive $2.5 million from his will.

Thank you, DR TCB. The nurse who works for my cardiology group in the hospital told me that she wishes she could get all their patients to be as diligent as I've been. Thank you all for the vibes. I've drafted an email to the Master Toymaker but I don't know if I will send it. It's quite angry and maybe says more abut my anger than anything positive. I wanted the project to work, vainly speaking, because I wanted to be a published musical theatre historian and scholar, and I wanted to parlay it into a lecturing career. I do my work well and I do it better than most. It's one of the few areas where I'm not insecure.
-
Don't send anything when you are angry, Elmore.
-
Wednesday evening greetings! Would anyone be surprised to learn that I spent last night and all day today at Miami Valley Hospital?
For you! Yes I am surprised!!!!
-
Exactly, elmore - I used to do the same thing and in the last few years I've learned to wait and assess the situation when I'm calmer.
-
In fact, I think you should type it out in a Word document and not in an email so you don't accidentally send it.

I was not admitted to the hospital as an in-patient, but in outpatient observation status. It's all about insurance, but I got to spend about 18 hours in a room in the new heart tower that opened in December. The rooms are all private, which is a huge improvement over the rooms in which I spent my first and last 2 nights there last summer.

You can always make french toast with egg white instead of the whole egg . It would be healthier. If you use egg white and skim milk it really isn't bad for you

Since the Virus thing - which appears that someone put a "back door" on my machine so they could use my computer as their computer ... (I don't actually understand this - by the way ) but Vixdad said it meant that they could access sites and if anyone traced it back it would show MY computers IP address not theirs...
anyway since MacAfee was completely unable to not only stop the virus but unable to notice it was there once I got it - Vixdad has added many more layers of computer virus protection to my computer - however it has slowed it down to a crawl and yesterday evening made it impossible for me to post at all

I appreciate all of your thoughts and opinions. I am not sending anything yet. In fact, I may send nothing at all since I suspect the Master Toymaker is expecting me to respond.
I am relieved to hear this

You can always have oatmeal for dinner like I did, John G.
It thawed quicker than I thought. Pizza with sausage, mushrooms and cheese.

Don't send the letter, Elmore. Who knows, you may want to add some vitriol in a few days' time.

This employer has been a pain in the derriere for 10 years. I have lots of vitriol!

JRand _ I received my educational dvd!!! I probably won't have time to watch it until the weekend but I am very much looking forward to it -- thank you!!

but on the other hand this pain has been an employer for 10 years.....

Julie Taymor is truly an idiot:

And I've been a good employee for ten years. I don't like the way we've been treated.

we're watching Faceoff special effects makeup artists competition
It is not the type of show that Vixdad will normally allow on the tv machine but it is pretty interesting
I wish they would show a little bit more of HOW they created their designs
-
Cilla I am sorry to hear about your invoice woes
Thanks Vixmom. I had a great day today, so I'm not as concerned as I was

We are supposed to get freezin drizzle or freezing rain tonight and tomorrow. I have a full day of appointments so I hope that doesn't happen
-
I am glad to hear that Cilla
-
I shan't mention our weather today. You would all be too jealous.
-
That I slept and had a good day or that we're going to have freezing drizzle? ;)
-
Nah, I wouldn't be jealous of your weather. I just remember that you'll soon be in the 100s for months
-
I just finished cleaning up the kitchen from dinner (pork chops, roasted potatoes, corn and apples cooked in white wine, butter and brown sugar) and all I can think about is making french toast
-
Congratulations to Mikey on his article
-
We don't talk about that in March, Cillaliz.

I know - am I am sure you are right - but as I have been forced to remind myself numerous times -- there's that old golden rule....
thems what's got the gold makes the rules
-
Cilla I meant I was glad to hear about the good day - not the freezing rain!

So, are you vested after 10 years? Is there a retirement plan? Anything extra?
-
Elmore, that story does little to show Julie Taymor in a good light. Then again, TED does a lot to show people off to a pretentious disadvantage.

I LOVE FRENCH TOAST. 8)
-
I joined the Ventura Film Society. Screenings twice a month through December. So far I've seen : Seraphine, Only When I Dance, The Philosopher Kings. Next 3 are : Memories of Overdevelpment, No One Knows about Persian Cats, Terribly Happy. :)

Vibes for everyone. ;) ;) ;)

Must sleep. :-[

VERY LATE EXTRA SPECIAL ;D'S FOR BK'S SHOW TONIGHT.
-
PAGE EIGHT DANCE!!
-
Tonight, we had a music rehearsal for Cannibal! The Musical! I'm only in three songs, and one of them is only two pages long, so those will be easy to memorize. :D
-
Back from a wonderful show - beautifully performed. Not as full as usual, but that was basically because of the rain - all our dinner reservations showed up and the main part of the room was completely full. The people who didn't show up at all were all show-only reservations - about twelve people - had they, the room would have been completely full.
