Well, you've read the notes, the notes were exhausted, and now it is time for you to post until the exhausted cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: XENIAL!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
good morning etc etc
-
Good morning, all! This morning I meet the McGlinnventory paralegal Geri at 9:30 to look for some Victor Herbert scores, catch up things with her, and head over to Toyland to collect items that belong to me, such as all the office books, ephemera pertaining to BABES IN TOYLAND and LADY OF THE SLIPPER, and the iMac I had purchased in 2007. In the two breakins in the old office on 14th Street in 2006 and 2007, we lost office computers as well as personal computers owned by our office manager and Russell Warner, none of which were ever replaced by our employer, no matter how many inquiries were made about insurance policies, etc. After the move to Toyland in August 2007 we had no working computer in the office.
The iMac I purchased in 2007 was still under warranty when its disc rejection machinery broke down and it needed repair. Since the repair was at Tekserve on 23rd Street and Toyland is on 27th, I decided to purchase a new computer, have the old one serviced, and take it to Toyland so we could have an office computer.
As to yesterday's events in Toyland, everyone was laid off but me. I have several suspicions - some good, some bad - on why I was not, but it does me no good since I'm both supportive of and dependent on my team. I can do no work, and no billing, without them. So, until a decision is made on what will happen with this project, I'm unemployed and I'm looking for work. What this country needs is a university press or a foundation willing to support a musical theatre project to promote research and publication of important scores and to put me and my colleagues in charge.
When I get home from Toyland, I'll check today's mail for whatever fresh new hell will be coming down the pike.

Continued vibes for DR ELMORE.
-
I am glad your DISK arrived DR VIXMOM. No rush in watching it.....there is no expiration date on it.
That Julie Taymor articles made me dislike her....
-
Thursday is a work day. But ASK BK day is not a work day.....but it is ASK BK day......and I have to go to work.
Must have something to do with global warming.

I think it's sun spots.
-
DR Elmore, I'm sorry to hear about the Toyland troubles.
Vibes and hugs. (best I can offer at the mo'-- I'm on my iTouch...)
-
It's time to make the bed and head out. Yesterday it was so warm that I opened both windows and installed allergen screens. It's freezing in here today!
I think I'll leave the screens in and keep the wndows open anyway.

Congrats to BK and his cast and crew on last evening's Kritzerland at The Gardenia show!

Yessiree!

Because of downed power lines, the train from Philly to Conshocken is not running this morning. I'm sitting in the Market East train station waiting to see if thereis a possibility that they might fix the situation sooner rather than later, but it's probably a fool's hope.
-
Train vibes for DR DtM
-
Off to work. Oh well.
Yes, it is probably the Sun Spots......I used to love their music.
-
One of these days, I think I'm going to send away for one of those cell phone disrupters. They're illegal in this country, but man they would come in handy.
I really, really wish I had one now...
-
Thanks, DR JRand.
-
Lovely Gardenia news
-
Thursday morning greetings! I slept like a rock last night.
The title of today's notes amazes me - can there already have been 7 Gardenia shows? Congratulations to BK and cast!
-
Glad the show went so well.
-
Thank you to DRs Vixmom and FJL for the wishes from last night.
I am going to lie low for a few days. One big problem has been addressed, in that they've begun holding my aunt's mail at the retirement community post office, so I don't have to run out there frequently to empty her mailbox. Little things mean a lot...

And the word of the day is: XENIAL!
And The Song Of The Day Is: WILKOMMEN

The Gardenia Show Looks Like Everything Was Coming Up Roses
-
Dear BK, maybe it's time to let the Assistant With Problems go and hire the one who is working now if she is doing a good job. It's nice to hold the job open for her, but you do have a business to run and having her friend and boyfriend fill in for her isn't working out for your business.
-
I am glad your DISK arrived DR VIXMOM. No rush in watching it.....there is no expiration date on it.
That Julie Taymor articles made me dislike her....
She speaks bullshit quite well, doncha think?
I'll say it again: TED seems to bring out the pretentiousness in people almost too well. We had to listen to one Sir Kenneth Robinson bloviate about how bad the educational system is, yet how good it can be. He mentioned how someone took a notice of Gillian Lynne at an early age and moved her into dance. Well, given what she did with "Cats," I don't think that's an example of what one should do. (And the day before I watched the clip, I read of how she was fired from "How Now, Dow Jones" and didn't work in New York for more than 20 years after.) But everyone in the audience just applauded, so he burbled on.
-
Glad to hear the show went well, BK, even with the singer who doesn't understand the meaning of punctuality.
-
I don't know if you've mentioned it, BK, but what's the theme of the next show? (I think you have but my mind is like scrambled eggs this morning. ) And how many have you done now?
-
I really am scrambled this morning. Disregard the last question since it's obvious from the title "Kritzerland 7" and yes, I do read the notes.
-
Page Two!
-
As I mentioned last night, I spent about 18 hours in a room in the newly-opened heart tower at Miami Valley Hospital. I asked a lot of people, especially the ones who wheeled me around, how they liked the new building. The transport person who took me to and from my second set of pictures yesterday said in the old building she walked about 9-12 miles/day. In the new building, it's more like 12-15 and she said that's her workout program!
-
DR Ginny, glad all was well health wise....and glad that you went and got checked out...better safe than sorry!
-
BK, congrats on another wonderful, well received Gardenia show!!
-
Today they will be painting all the doors on the fourth floor of my apartment building. I am wondering what color my door will be when I get home tonight.
-
DR Elmore, please do not send ANY kind of negative e-mail re: Toyland. You don't want to burn any bridges, ever.
Can you get unemployment benefits?
-
DR Ginny, glad all was well health wise....and glad that you went and got checked out...better safe than sorry!
Thanks, DR MBarnum - that's exactly what the cardio nurse said when we asked if we'd done the right thing!
-
I decided not to stop watching SOUTHLAND...and I am glad. This week's episode was certainly a good one. Next week is the season finale, then I will try to catch up on episodes that I missed due to my DVR not recording them.
-
DR Vixmom, thanks for the congratulations on the Jewell Lain interview :)
-
Today they will be painting all the doors on the fourth floor of my apartment building. I am wondering what color my door will be when I get home tonight.
Green?

Good interview with Miles Krueger:
http://www.npr.org/2011/03/02/134207970/Musical-Theater-Museum-Struggles-To-Preserve-Archives
Made me think of your struggles, Elmore.
-
I'm up. Not quite enough sleep, but I'll catch up tomorrow.
-
At the moment, the next show will be Alan Menken - BUTT - I'm waffling on it - it's really not the kind of show I'm quite ready to do - but we'll see how I feel by tomorrow. I chose it because I still have all the charts in the garage from the Menken/Schwartz benefit and the MD I've hired played that - so if I can find enough obscure stuff that's great then it will feel like one of our shows rather than a greatest hits, which is NOT what we're about.
-
I've already axed the old helper's boyfriend and friend - they have nothing to do with this anymore. And right now I have no inclination to go back to the old helper, even though I totally understand her problems and commiserate with her. On the other hand, the current helper, who is great, is also a performer and she could get a gig at any time that would take her away, and that makes me very nervous.
-
Greetings from Toyland! I've received the office supplies and I'm contemplating my next move.
Miles is a good fellow. I've known him for some time now, and he's been very helpful with things.
-
Just found out that my favorite dish at the Cheesecake Factory, the farfalle with chicken and roasted garlic in a "light" cream sauce, has 2100 calories. Unbelievable. The Cheesecake Factory always takes the award for most calories in a dish.
-
That is why The Cheesecake Factory is so yummy.
-
From Bruce:
Back from a wonderful show - beautifully performed. Not as full as usual, but that was basically because of the rain - all our dinner reservations showed up and the main part of the room was completely full. The people who didn't show up at all were all show-only reservations - about twelve people - had they, the room would have been completely full.
:D

Technically you are still employed except there is absolutely no work you can do on your own. It is so odd then you are still employed or that a time frame for closing wasn't given to get things closed up properly. I get the billing part but don't really understand why you can't do your own creative parts. In a way it is a shame you can't continue to do the work you love about the job.
CONTINUED VIBES!!!

Congrats to BK and his cast and crew on last evening's Kritzerland at The Gardenia show!
Ditto!! It sounds like it was a fabulous evening! ;D

Good morning, all.

-
Oy! Such a day I've had.
It was too long, but I did have a good catch-up with Geri at the McGlinnventory office. I gathered up the Herbert scores I needed and headed to Toyland. We had sent in an order for office supplies and I was told yesterday, "Your order will be arriving today and everyone but you is on hiatus." Why did they even bother to place the order?
-
They place an order & everyone, but you, is on hiatus. It sounds like they plan to return to the project. ???
-
I went to my aquatic exercise class today and was surprised to find the pool practically empty. Class had been canceled due to a broken heater which had been fixed by the time I arrived only the temps hadn't warmed up back to normal. It was a bit chilly getting in but then I was fine. I enjoyed going for a free swim more than the combination of the class followed by a swim. I also found out I can do this on Fridays so next week I'll give it a try and see how busy the free swim is.
I had a good work out.

I don't recall whether it was Richard Nixon or Henry Kissinger who said it back in the early 1970s, but said it one of them did: "No American will ever have to pay more than $1 for a gallon of gasoline!" (or words to that effect).
LOL

Sounds like they're "reviewing the situation".

This morning I went for a walk, and this is what I saw:

Horned lizard
(http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5020/5495812260_dc22f88e62.jpg)
This horned lizard ran right under my foot and was lucky it didn't get stepped on. I squealed like a little girl.
-
DR Laura why do your photos always come out so sharp and clear? Is it just that you have a better camera than I do or is it how you post them?
-
Great photos, Laura. I needed them after all the reading I've had to do today.
-
Well, Jane, I only post the photos that turn out. There's my secret!
-
I got down on the ground for the butterflies, I took eight out-of-focus shots of the bird (and one in-focus) before it flew away, and I stood up and used the zoom lens for the lizard -- when I tried to get down on the ground, it zipped away.
-
But even when my photos are clear on my computer by the time I size them for posting they become somewhat blurry & pixelated(sp?).
-
I don't doubt your photos are better than mine to begin with. I just want mine better when I post them.
-
I bought a better camera than I had last time, Jane. But I often got lucky with my pocket camera. You need a subject that will sit still, get close up, and use the macro lens.
-
so today at lunch we all were talking about what we had for dinner last night - of the 5 of us sitting around the table , 2 had had french toast!!
-
right now I am making chicken soup -- the kitchen smells wonderful
-

LOL I don't think I have a macro lens-don't even know what one is. Sherlock rarely sits still. ;D
How do you size your photos for posting? Do you do anything to make them sharper?
-
I upload them to Flickr, and then copy and paste the link here. Jose told me how.
-
Look for a flower icon on the camera. That's the macro.
-
PAGE THREE?

I haven't wanted to do that but maybe it is time I learn how. Thanks.

I found it and showed it to Keith. All we need to do is remember this next time we want to take a close up photo.

Good Evening!
Greetings from Atlanta!
-
This is the first time in 36 hours that I have turned on my MacBook.
-
~~~~~VIBES TO DR ELMORE AND HIS COLLEAGUES~~~~~
-
In other news...
My trip down to Atlanta was relatively uneventful. I was very happy that it wasn't too cold in NYC yesterday morning so that I wouldn't have to wear my winter coat down here since it's currently in the mid-60s and supposed to stay that way the rest of the week.
SETC is back in a hotel that we were at a few years ago, but in the meantime, they have completely refurbished some areas, and reconfigured the lobby area. It actually looks pretty snazzy. Alas, eight elevators still aren't enough for 2500 people who happen to have similar convention schedules. *But they did give permission to the convention staff - myself included - to use the service elevators. That's been a very nice perk. :)
Otherwise, so far, so good. Today's 160 auditionees were a good group, and the office even scheduled clusters of "acting only" auditions so that I would get extended breaks within the groups. Two more days to go.
-
bk - Congrats on another successful show at The Gardenia!
-
DR Jose I hope you don't need your winter coat when you return. Are you in a refurbished room?
-
This is a really cool site. It's a webcam of a bald eagle's nest in Decorah Iowa. Right now you can see the eagle sleeping with the night vision camera. today I saw the three eggs in the nest. It's pretty cool
-
DR Cillaliz - the eagle cam is very cool!
Yesterday, I saw many interesting flying things from the huge windows in my 7th floor hospital room. Of course, there were the CareFlight helicopters, but I also saw one of Dayton's famous peregrine falcons soaring over the main entrance plaza. And I had a direct view toward Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where yesterday must have been "let's practice take-offs and landings" day in the C-130 class. Those big planes were coming and going all day long.
-
DR Jose I hope you don't need your winter coat when you return. Are you in a refurbished room?
I brought some layers and a nice warm zippered sweat jacket. -And it's supposed to be in the mid-50s on Sunday when I get back to New York City. :)
I heard about the eagle cam when I went to pay my office rent. The building manager had it on her computer and said she is totally addicted to it. The mother is on the nest right now according to the chat people. She was moving the eggs around and arranging the nest when I first turned it on. During the day the color is really good.
Sure beats daytime TV, DR Jane! I finished one book on my Kindle and started another, too.
Well, I'm off. I'm going to my parents' for dinner. Spaghetti! After that, home for some TV.
Be back later. :)
-
DR Ginny - Glad to read that it's just a shoulder issue and not something else.
Thanks, DR Jose!
Did you read anything good? On the Kindle we have been reading Tommy & Tuppence books by Agatha Christie. It is fun that we read them together.
-
Not at the same time. I read a regular book until Keith goes to sleep and then I take the Kindle.
-
Oh...
And I received some potentially wonderful news earlier today. Once the requisite phone calls and emails have been exchanged, then I will share said news with you. ;)
-
:-) Jose.
-
DR Jane - the book I finished was Theresa Flores' The Slave Across the Street, her grizzly memoir of being a victim of human trafficking in Birmingham, MI. The one I started is Eleanor Brown's The Weird Sisters, a novel about the 3 daughters of a professor of Shakespeare at a small college in Ohio. It's gotten a lot of press and I'm enjoying it very much.
-
Oooo, DR Jose, I'm intrigued!
-
Oooo, DR Jose, I'm intrigued!
So am I.
VIBES YOU SOON HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR US!!!!
-
Watched a motion picture of an upcoming Kritzerland score release - I HATE the way they butcher a composer's score - I don't know whether there was a lot of post-production meddling or last minute editing changes, but they certainly hacked up the score like crazy and didn't use about eight cues at all - they just kept doing loops and repeating cues - terrible. And the music was mixed so low you couldn't even hear it half the time. But the score tracks, all of which we'll issue as recorded in a nice musical program that sometimes adheres to the film order and sometimes doesn't, are exquisite.
-
In about eighty minutes I'll go tape a radio show.
-
Can we get to page five so I can go to bed?
-
It does look possible!
-
Come on everyone.................... P-U-L-L !
-
Never mind, I'll do it.
-
Page Five!
-
I opened the webcam & it was making strange noises so I turned it off.
there is a mic with the cam, so you can hear the sounds around the nest. I heard a dog barking a little while ago. I'm sure the wind and weather might make it loud. I muted my speaker a while ago
-
G'night!
-
Night TCB thanks for getting us to page 5
-
Today I have formulated my new philosophy about the aunt situation. I will do whatever I can to help my cousins cope with it (providing lodgings, babysitting kids/wives, etc.), but I will NOT do the coping for them. Hardhearted? Maybe, but the stress was turning me into her and that's not gonna happen.
-
I think it's a very sound decision, DR Ginny.
-
I'm listening to Pandora radio which I'm sure didn't help. ;D
-
I think it's a very sound decision, DR Ginny.
I agree!!!!!
-
You have your own mother to take care of, Ginny.
-
Ginny, you have been very generous to your aunt & continue to do so. Life has been much easier for your cousins because of you.
-
I think it's a very sound decision, DR Ginny.
I agree!!!!!
So do my DH and DS.
-
Me too, DR Ginny.
-
Well...
Time for me to head back up to my room to get ready for tomorrow's auditions - in other words, sleep.
I hope DR edisaurus had an uneventful travel day today, and I do hope we get to meet up tomorrow night for dinner.
I get a long lunch break tomorrow, so I should be able to check in mid-day tomorrow. Until then...
Laters...
-
And...
Goodnight.
-
Good luck making your decision a reality Ginny
-
HMMM - I meant that sincerely but is looks kinda sarcastic
-
How about - Ginny I sincerely hope that you are able to stick to your guns and not get sucked into a caretaker role
I love this photo. The girl on the right is an Estherville (ELC) Midgette.
-
This one made me laugh, for some reason
-
Number 44 is also a Midgette (My hometown mascot is the midget - female is midgette)
-
One last one for the fun of it! It's very exciting today because the Midgettes were not rated at all, are almost all sophmores in high school and have beaten team number 12, 3 and 2 to get to the final game. The whole town will likely be shut down tomorrow as the busses head to Des Moines to cheer on the girls. Girls basketball has always been a really big deal in Iowa. Not as much as in years gone by, but when your team makes it to state...it's a huge deal
Hey, they are posts
i'm thinking about going to a seminar in Memphis in May instead of the seminar in San Diego in June. With the exception of one session I really wanted to attend, I think I can get the same information at half the price...and I've never been to Memphis and always wanted to go...
-
I've always wanted to be Walkin in Memphis.
Hmmm can we get to page 7?
I was reading the brochure for the Memphis seminar. It's during the championship barbecue festival.....I think Memphis is winning out
