Well, you've read the notes, the notes had some treasure, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently searching for the treasure of the Sierra MOOdre.
-
And the word of the day is: COLLOP!
-
Topic of the Day:
Bonnie and Clyde
Dick Tracy
Heaven Can Wait
Reds
These are the only Warren Beatty movies that I've seen...and I like them all.
-
tod
Al Pacino:
Author! Author!
Dog Day Afternoon
Warren Beatty
Heaven Can Wait
BTW Beatty hasn't acted in a film in over a decade. Since Town and Country which was one of the biggest bombs ever.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all! I've been catching up on yesterday's posts and doing a lot of Google searches. I've been reading the new autobiography, I WAS A DANCER, by Jacques d'Amboise and it sent me off to Google. The book is quite wonderful, some of it is very moving, and Mr d'Amboise is a very generous and kind storyteller. There are some beautiful portraits of interesting folk. The book is a lot like the Hugh Martin bography that was recently published; I wish Hugh hadn't found Jesus and swept the dirt under the carpet. Since the prurient side of me is interested in the dish - and I've read and heard some from their late publicist Phillip Bloom some concerning the City Ballet in the 40s and 50s - I think it's a very whitewashed story in this new bio. Still, I'm enjoying it very much.
Today I am back to Encores! I have some CHARLEY? work to accomplish here before I go.
Warren Beatty: Bonnie and Clyde
Shampoo
Al Pacino: The Godfather
Frankie and Johnny
Serpico
The Merchant of Venice
-
Sorry to hear that Mr D'Amboise decided not to lay the cards on the table, so to speak.
-
I wonder if my 1915 CD will come today? I ordered it yesterday.
-
Forgot to read the notes first again.
-
TOD:
Warren Beatty:
Bonnie & Clyde
Mickey One
Splendor in the Grass
All Fall Down
Al Pacino
The Godfather
Scarecrow
-
Forgot to read the notes first again.
Are you doing a FAST?
-
Off to do some Monday shopping.....even though I am not feeling so well. It might be the start of something....or the end of something. Time will tell.
-
Notes have been read, upcoming trip to NY NY duly noted
-
Forgot to read the notes first again.
Are you doing a FAST?
No, I read the notes slowly and carefully. :) :)
-
Notwithstanding the silly stage name, I suspect Lady Gaga will do well in films once she gets into that mode. (I say that since Gaga seems to be following a Madonna-type track.)
-
Both Cher and Madonna opted to debut on Broadway in supporting roles in straight plays, not in musicals.
Not interesting, but it's a post.
-
Both Cher and Madonna opted to debut on Broadway in supporting roles in straight plays, not in musicals.
Not interesting, but it's a post.
And they both proved that they were lousy stage actresses without multiple takes, editing and cutting.
-
Not interesting, but it's a fact! :)

TOD:
Mr. Beatty:
REDS (I love this movie!)
McCABE AND MRS MILLER
SHAMPOO
HEAVEN CAN WAIT
THE FORTUNE
Mr. Pacino
DOG DAY AFTERNOON
THE GODFATHER PART II
SERPICO
PANIC IN NEEDLE PARK
-
I remember that DICK TRACY was a chore to sit through. The costumes, scenery, cinematography and makeup were initially interesting but eventually the garishness of it all was wearying. Absolutely no direction as far as setting any kind of balance of tone among the stars--Beatty just let everyone do whatever the hell they wanted. I recall that I didn't mind Madonna but she wasn't any better than anyone else in that film.

How could I have forgotten "McCabe & Mrs Miller"!
I have to hit the post office and send two packages before I get to City Center.

Cher and Madonna are puzzling to me as actresses. I thought Cher was wonderful in MOONSTRUCK and SILKWOOD and that Madonna was terrific in SUDDENLY SEEKING SUSAN and A LEAGUE OF THIER OWN, but they both generally range from mediocre to outright horrible in other movies. I don't think they were just lucky and pulled their good performances out of their butts. Do they respond only to certain directors? Something different in their diets at those points in their careers? Like I said, 'tis a puzzlement...
-
I've never been a big Warren Beatty fan.
I'm not suggesting that many of his films are not good, but the only movie of his that I really like is SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS.
Al Pacino:
THE GODFATHER TRILOGY, SERPICO, ...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL and, although I don't really like the picture itself, I think Al's choreography scene in DICK TRACY is hysterical.
-
So, my son and his lady friend flew back to Los Angeles late yesterday afternoon.
:(
-
Good morning, all.

TOD:
Beatty:
McCabe and Mrs. Miller
Bonnie and Clyde

Pacino:
The Godfather
The Godfather Part II
Donnie Brasco
-
Good morning to you. And you. And to you, too.
-
Monday morning greetings! Had a good night's sleep and now I'm easing into the week. Pretty soon I'll start a crockpot full of chili for tonight's AAUW soup supper at the booksale site.
-
TOD:
Beatty:
McCabe and Mrs. Miller
Bonnie and Clyde
Bugsy

The Godfather
The Godfather Part II
Donnie Brasco
I forgot about DONNIE BRASCO. That's a goodie.
-
I'm up and must get ready to ship CDs.
-
TOD:
I have no favorite Warren Beatty or Al Pacino movies. The few Pacino movies that I have seen, I did not enjoy. Beatty did some early TV work that I liked, but that is about it for me.

This morning's activities include listening to lame audios on Positivism, Interpretism and Critical Theory. The first took longer to download than to listen to and had nothing to say. It's going to be a good morning.

And the word of the day is: COLLOP!
And The Song Of The Day Is: TENDER CRISP BACON CHEDDAR RANCH

THE GODFATHER(Part 1)

Good afternoon! To borrow a phrase, that is all!

From Laura:
I did it the first year and didn't lose an ounce.
I looked up the diet and, unless you ate too many nuts & grains, don't understand how you didn't loose weight.
-
From Laura:
I can't give up dairy.
Do you use non-fat milk? In fact I would think you have reduced the fat out of your dairy products to control your cholesterol.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Helper is almost through and packages will shortly be on their way to the postal office.
-
From Vixmom:
Sounds like business as usual at Jane's home
LOL. More like Craig who is a good vegan and as a result all his older clothes are too big.
Keith and I do eat dairy though I don't eat nearly as much as I used to. I admire Craig very much as he hasn't had ice cream in three years.
-
From Vixmom:
very observant George!!!
Congrats to Jane and Sam!
Sure is and I certainly didn't look or notice. Thank you both and congrats to DR Sam.
-
From George:
In other words, extreme vegan.
Nope, simply vegan. Craig checks packaging not only for whey products but for the kind of sugar used. Some sugars are ok. When he is out he is less strict. When we accidentally purchase something in error for him he doesn't waste it. We are better now at spotting pure vegan foods than when he first moved here.
-
So, my son and his lady friend flew back to Los Angeles late yesterday afternoon.
:(
I know how you feel. I'm going to be sad when Craig leaves. Bryan used to be fairly close and now he is far away.
-
Interesting that Al Pacino is the subject today as last night we finally watched YOU DON'T KNOW JACK. I say finally as the DVD from NetFlix has been sitting here at least a month and I haven't wanted to watch it. We lived through Jack Kevorkian as we were in Michigan during his activities and I didn't want to watch a movie about it.
The movie was very interesting and well done. Al Pacino truly captured Kevorkian and did a suburb acting job as did all the cast. Brenda Vaccaro was absolutely fantastic!! Just the other day, not realizing she would be in "Jack" I was thinking how I haven't seen her in anything in such a long time.
-
Just had a big release approved, so that's our next release and since that package and master has been done for weeks, we can finally get three or four titles ahead and I won't always be rushing our mastering engineer. Very good news.
-
The score and film is one of my all-time favorites, and releasing the CD is a major Kritzerland Holy Grail.
-
Congrats on the good news.
-
From Jennifer:
DR Jose, they can force you to check your carry on? What if you don't want to?
It is always been standard procedure to check carry-on luggage if there isn't any more room on the plane. Now if it happens you won't be charged, unless that is about to change, as you would be if you checked the bag at luggage.

I love Warren Beatty, when I was in college I had a life sized poster - well bigger than life sized, actually - image of him a Clyde in his undershirt standing next to the bed looking down at a pistol in his hand. Couldn't find the image with a quick Google search. Anyway, my room at the lake in the summer was a former garage that had been turned into a guest house, one of my mom's friends came in looking for me one day and let out this blood curdling scream.. She thought there was a man with a gun in my room, lol.
-
Warren Beatty films:
SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS
BONNIE AND CLYDE
HEAVEN CAN WAIT
I can't think right now, but there aren't too many I don't like
-
Al Pacino -
SERPICO is my favorite.
And true confessions, I'm not a fan of THE GODFATHER or it's related parts
-
Vixmom and Laura - loved your conversation last night. It made me giggle..
-
Vixmom - what is someone sleeps in their underwear or in the nude.... oh wait, you're Lutheran, that wouldn't happen
-
Today I almost fell over laughing, but had to keep in on the inside. For months after she started working here, I told Edith I really don't like appointments before 10:00 AM so I can get my day started. She has ignored that for ....3 years, so I gave up and just went with 9:00 AM. Today, out of the blue she suggested that maybe it would be better if I started my day at say...10:00 AM and went later so I have time to wake up and get going. She's envisioning that I'll do that at home, but I want to be able to have coffee, get here and do the books etc and get my day started. Anyway, I didn't say "I told you so" and just said it was a good idea, lol
-
Oh, I loved Al Pacino in AND JUSTICE FOR ALL
-
Oh my, on that diet/fast you couldn't have chocolate either....no ice cream, no chocolate....why go on? ;)
-
Because it's page 3
-
Ok, time to work, later gators....

This morning was a meet 'n' greet at WHERE'S CHARLEY? It was great to see Jo Sullivan Loesser and Joshie and I finished our perusal of the full score with questions for Rob. I have work to do here for the next two days. I will go back in on Wednesday.

Received a nice, unexpected Foreign Levies check from the WGA today.
:)
-
Druxy, years ago BK posted about a royalty check he received for two cents, which he had to split with his writing partner.
-
Your post about receiving a check reminded me of that. I hope yours was considerably more than two cents.
-
Oh my, on that diet/fast you couldn't have chocolate either....no ice cream, no chocolate....why go on? ;)
Welcome to MY world, DR Cillaliz! Although, I do substitute frozen yogurt for the ice cream and satisfy my chocolate tooth with Tootsie Pops...

Well, it's time for me to scoop out some chili for Richard's dinner and for Rob to have when he gets home from his shift with the Dayton medic unit that took care of me on Aug. 3. I'll be back after the soup supper - bye for now!
-
Oy! Now I'm getting inquiries about "do you think the project will start up again?" from the wives of my colleagues.
Charlie Sheen has been fired by CBS from "Two and a Half Men." I wish someone would shoot Sheen and put me out of my misery.
-
I think that's the end of the show, then. I don't think he can replaced.
-
If true about Sheen, I'm glad CBS finally had the moxie to do something like this. With what they're paying him and what the show must now cost, it's hard to have that kind of moxie, but you can't let these people run the business.

Which is why I admire him so very much for doing this. Once in awhile he buys vegan ice cream but it isn't the same.

Not surprising.

Just noticed last night that I hve a new network on my cable line-up. It is called Antenna TV and has a lot of vintage TV shows like DANIEL BOONE, FATHER KNOWS BEST, HAZEL, DENNIS THE MENACE and Sally Field's GIDGET.
I set my DVR to record some of the Hazel episodes and I might add Dennis The Menace to the mix as well, later.

That is the good news. The bad news is he has a ridiculously large following on twitter. If Charle sues over the firing he will continue to be in our faces.

Wow, if you do a certain number of question marks it turns into faces.

Had a visit from a soundtrack producer, and am waiting for another soundtrack person to pick up his Audrey Rose CDs. After that, I finally get to sit on my couch like so much fish.

I hope not. Since he has been fired for breaking the moral contract, which didn't seem an issue before, who knows. ;D It is hard to imagine his contract didn't have something in it to permit them to fire him if he messed up again.

I will be attending callbacks for LION IN WINTER on Wednesday evening.

Isn't that weird that George and I had reversed photos.
I don't know as I couldn't see much of George's photo. I'll have to go back and see if it will open.
If you click on the photo that I posted, it'll get larger...not as large as TCB's photo, though. I actually reduced the size and reversed it, because it looked like it was reversed to begin with. The part in his hair is on the wrong side, and he's holding the gun in his left hand, and he's not left-handed.
TMI, I know. ;)

Break a leg, TCB! I am glad you are back into acting again.
Now, don't be a butt like Charlie Sheen.

DR TCB,
CALLBACK VIBES!!!
-
You mean like this?
show off!
:D

Back from the soup supper. In addition to my tomato/beef chili, there was also a white bean/chicken chili (yum!). Lots of cheese and crackers, fresh fruit, and a layer cake that looked delicious. I ate only 1 small piece of Swiss cheese and no cake, pretty true to my diet, I think. There were lots of people there to work on the book sale tables, so I came home after the business meeting.

break a leg vibes Lion!!

Callback - excellent.

Callback vibes to DR TCB!
Well, you would think that I had never been a stage before. I am already a nervous wreck.
-
My poor helper was really sick today. I tried not to get too close and we weren't together all that long, and I had some chicken soup and Coldeez, so hopefully that will ward off any unseemly germs, because I can tell you I don't need to get this stupid thing again.

Very! I have always felt more comfortable on a stage than I have been walkling down a street.

And speaking of acting...I'm off to rehearsal now.
Be back later!

If you start to get the crud back, go to a Chinese Restaurant and get a large container of Hot and Sour Soup. My doctor swears by it.

Listening to the Radio Show.
-
I have always been comfortable on stage. I get a rush of nerves before I go on stage, but once I am out on stage, I feel at home. I never get nervous before an audtiion, because a drama teacher years ago taught me that if I didn't think I was the best person for the part, then nobody else would think so either.
-
So this reaction is UN usual, not usual. :)
-
You know you are the best person for the part or you wouldn't have wanted to do it.

But on that diet you couldn't have yogurt or tootsie pops either.. Sweetner and dairy

Callback vibes to DR TCB!
Well, you would think that I had never been a stage before. I am already a nervous wreck.
Is this usual for you?
My apologies. I read it as unusual.

My poor helper was really sick today. I tried not to get too close and we weren't together all that long, and I had some chicken soup and Coldeez, so hopefully that will ward off any unseemly germs, because I can tell you I don't need to get this stupid thing again.
If you start to get the crud back, go to a Chinese Restaurant and get a large container of Hot and Sour Soup. My doctor swears by it.
I don't know it that has ginger in it, but the chicken soup at my favorite Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant does and it really helps

Ok, I can't find that poster photo anywhere on the internet. The poster is torn around the edges etc, but I think I may still have it downstairs. I'm about ready to go see if I still have it, unroll it and take a photo of it. I may have thrown it out due to the condition, but I'm not sure....it would be hard to part with

This is pretty close, only it's just Warren Beatty in mine and he's looking down slightly, the second one is close too

was it this ? (Cropped to leave only Warren?)
Too funny, I just found that. Yes, but he's looking down a bit. My guess is it's the next frame or so from the movie
-
Now I need to go look for it to be sure I'm right, lol. If it isn't where I think it is, I'll give up
-
