And the word of the day is: TRUCKLE!
Once he finds out you've taken up something steady like [theatre], Mr Babcock of the Knickerbocker Bank will surely let you keep Patrick.
TOD - doughnuts are a no-no for me, but I did eat one of these last month. Fried Danish from Middletown's Central Pastry, my all-time favorite.

My favorites there are the apple fritters and cinnamon twists.
I avoid doughnuts, too. Once in a while I'll have a Krispy Kreme.
There was this lady swimming in the fast lane who was bugging me.
She was going so slow. Which would have been okay except that she was ahead of me. And every time I'd get to the end, instead of waiting for me to go ahead of her she would start. But only when I got there.
Don't people know swimming etiquette? Seems like common sense to me. I always let anyone faster go ahead of me.

I realize that this may be sacrilege, but I just don't understand the lure of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I have had them piping hot ("Then blow on 'em first.") and I have had them after they have cooled; and I just don't know why people love them. I mean they are okay, they don't taste like whale blubber or anything nasty; but they are average at best.

I'll second that! I prefer Dunkin' Donuts. And Milton's, in Middletown OH.

The showers were a mess. I got out after the babies were done but 10 minutes before everybody else had to get out. I had to wait 5 minutes for a shower. But by the time I got in everybody was getting out so there was a line for the showers. ANd 2 women had the nerve to open my shower door and ask if they could come in.
Most of the ladies there are sort of flabby and they just walk around naked. Sorry if i don't want anyone else in my shower. I nicely said no and said i'd hurry.
:)
I don't know that they are the best donuts I have ever had, but certainly the most memorable donuts I have had were from Voodoo Donuts in Portland, Oregon. One of my co-workers drove down to Portland to pick them up for my birthday last year. Check out their menu.

Thursday groups of children took over the part of the pool I swim in so I moved to an empty lane. I was doing rather well until someone joined me in my lane. I think the etiquette at our pool is for each person to take one half of the wide lane. I found without swimming in the middle following the black line on the bottom of the pool I can't swim in a straight line. I kept swimming into the hard plastic lane divider. I finally got out of the pool went to the hot tub.

I didn't know that there was such a thing as swimming etiquette.

LOL. I don't use the shower there & try to avoid the locker room. Oh the stories Keith tells about the locker room. :P
Jennifer I just shared your shower story with Keith. ;D
Is the shower designed to be shared or is it one shower head?
I'm old fashioned.
That's a cue for a song but it's also to notify Mr. Kimmel that I just mailed my order for one copy of the London Cast Recording of Carnival to Kritzerland Records. It should arrive in a few days. It may be considered an important envelope ;)
Re: Krispy Kreme donuts. I never understood the acclaim either. They are no longer in New York City. They didn't take the town by storm.
When I was on tour with Sesame Street Live we went to some Southern states with KKs. The cast was all in rapture whenever we came to a town with KKs. I just stayed on the bus and silently wondered why.

Maybe next time I'm in Portland I'll remember to try one of these.
Back from 2 hours of bookselling, a trip to the grocery, watching an episode of CASTLE with Richard, and talking on the phone to my sister.
Does this help?

Did you make them a lot of money?

Here the etiquette is that every body goes up the right side and then comes back on the left (now their right).
I have now put it back to normal.
Ordered London Cast of Carnival
But I do have a question:
One of my books has Golden Delicious Fish as a song added to the London production. I am wondering if this was actually a new song or was it a retitle of one of the Broadway songs as you stated yesterday:
" Interestingly, some of the song titles are slightly different on the London recording and we’ve opted to use those so that we match the way they were listed on that original LP jacket."
There is no way to avoid the locker room since that is the way to the pool. I always get changed there. Where do you get changed after you've swam?
And it is required to take a shower before you swim. So everyone has to use the lockers. But I would not put on my clothes without taking a shower and washing my hair. Too much chlorine.
I took a break, but stayed signed in to HHW. Nicky wanted me to sit in the recliner so that he could take a nap on my lap.
It doesn't matter which search engine I use to post (explorer, firefox), I still return to the top of the current page, where I used to return to the most recent post. I must have screwed something up somehow.

I guess I will just have to get used to going to the top of the current page, instead of the most recent post.
I am so lazy. I haven't even taken a shower (in my own bathroom) yet today.
Wow, just watched that story, they do 100 dozen a day and stop selling at noon. Wow. I knew there was always a line, but I didn't know it was that crazy
There are several monarch caterpillars at the habitat. The monarch scientist has worked very hard to assure their survival this winter. She did good.
DR Laura's photos today were really exceptional, IMHO.
Glad to see the The Important Envelope has arrived.

"Golden Delicious" has always been a part of the score as the lead-in to "Love Makes The World Go Round." The other major change for the London cast recording is the choral extension to "Beautiful Candy."

Well they are redoing the ladies locker room. So right now the family locker room is the ladies locker room. So it's a bit different. Not sure what the new ladies locker room will be. But the old ladies locker room had 10 showerheads out in the open (no curtains). And then 2 curtained showers.
The family room has 3 shower rooms. 2 have doors and the other doesn't have a door. They each have 2 showers in them. But the one I was in only one shower head works.
I do get that since there are normally 2 showerheads in a room ... they wanted to share. But since the other showerhead doesn't work, and since I think it's fair to be allowed some privacy when you're naked and showering ... I had absolutely no problem telling those ladies to wait.
Ben - when we upgraded our card program was not compatible - much to my disappointment - I have never found a card program I liked as well as my initial Hallmark greetings workshop from 1996
I am reading a new (to me) novel by Michael Cox. I read his THE MEANING OF NIGHT a couple months ago and found it very interesting. It's a gothic tale of betrayal and murder. I'm now reading THE GLASS OF TIME, which is REALLY hard to put down. It takes place twenty or so years later, with a few of the same characters, and is again about betrayal and revenge, but this time the tables are turned a bit. I think some of our DRs would enjoy it. If you enjoy seeing the guilty parties get their comeuppance, then this is for you.

Maybe I'm a prude, but I cannot imagine someone opening up a shower and asking a complete stranger to share
It was snowing while Sherlock and I hiked. It is nice out now, cold but clear and sunny. I hope it stays clear so we can see the Supermoon tonight. It was rather big & bright last night.
Jane, I just read the reviews of THE MEANING OF NIGHT and now I see what you were referring to. Yes, the main character admits to a murder early in the story. But, as the story unfolds, he tells how he was framed and betrayed, which takes place over many years, and you come to understand why he felt compelled to murder. You may not agree, but you understand it.
I don't know your taste well enough to say whether you'd enjoy it or not. It is a highly stylized book and not for those looking for a quick read. It is not gruesome and it's fairly "clean" other than the two murders. The main character is a very likable fellow until the first murder. You would like him, I think, at least up until that point.

I hope I remember to go out on the balcony at sunset.

I just read the reviews for THE POWER OF ONE. It sounds quite interesting. I put it in my Amazon cart. My Amazon cart is almost as big as my Netflix queue.

The Vixter and I have been running all over town today doing errands -- the performers in last night's production of Cabaret would most likely be pleased to know that all day our conversation centered around last night's performance

Has anyone else read the other Charlaine Harris series of books? The Aurora Teagarden series. No vampires in any of that series.

DR Jane mentioned the Supermoon. Any predictions for tonight from anyone? JRand? Cillaliz?

I really don't understand the point of going to a public swimming pool if you can't shower with a group of naked strangers when you are finished!
I suggest that everyone who has a camera post a photo of the supermoon tonight. Then we can see what it looks like all over.
Paul and I went to the garden show today. We both signed up to win lots of stuff. Hope one of us wins something

A rather startling and large new plateau for the likes of me. I will wait to post further until this momentous moment is captured for all time.

We had an okay Saturday at World of Wisdom.....over $500......and I earned about $140 in commissions myself.....so I can by myself something nice.

Some ibuprofen and sleep for you, Jose.
Wow. Have you been there, MBarnum?
A real live episode of COPS, MBarnum!
Wow. Very nice, Jose. What did you do to deserve such an honor?
MR BK is SO close to his new plateau!
I am sure DR GEORGE can get a screen capture.....I do not know how to do such a thing.
Back from the Gardenia. The show went splendidly and The Singer did herself proud. She nailed every laugh (I think some of them almost took her aback) and the songs worked like a dream as did the structure. She let her nerves get the better of her a couple of times, but that's nitpicking and she just did a great job. I was a very proud papa. Lots of fun people - her family, Adryan Russ and Doug Haverty, Doug's daughter Hartley and her boyfriend, Shelly Markham, Andrea Marcovicci and her mother, Juliana Hansen - a perfect evening.
In other news...
The staff at City Bakery tweeted me earlier in the week to tell me that Maury, the owner, had something special for me. Well, I finally stopped in yesterday, and THIS (http://twitpic.com/4b4wku) is what he had for me. :)

Did some errands and whatnot and thankfully the important envelope was there. I had some matzo brei and a bagel to tide me over to dinner. And I've been listening to the tracks to Carnival as they come up on the iDisk - it sounds very good - it's very different vocally from the Broadway version and while I'm used to Miss Alberghetti and Mr. Orbach, their counterparts, while different, are very good, and the band sounds excellent, too.
