Good morning, all!
Disaster movies? Barbra Streisand's HELLO DOLLY!
Good Morning. It is overcast and windy, and Iam hoping we really get the rain we are being promised.
Can't really say I'm a fan of disaster movies and rarely go to them. Those that I have gone to, I don't much care for. How about that one with Chuck Heston and the ants in South America? Can't remember the title, but that was pretty disastrous.

I must say that I fnd the cover photo a hoot; the leading lady looks less naive and waiflike and more an angry punkette.
And the word of the day is: LEXEME!
Hmmm...I can't seem to recall the words to the Maureen McGovern ballad in THE SWARM...
I have heard very good reviews of THE LINCOLN LAWYER from criminal defense lawyers.
The librarian at my library really upset me this morning.
I never really want to ask her to do anything because she usually acts like she does not like me. But today the librarian at the front desk said I had to ask the other lady something.
A book had come in (the new Lisa Gardner book) that I had wanted since I first heard the title (I requested it at least 6 months ago). Anyhow they lost my reservation AGAIN (I keep track so i am almost positive I gave it in).
Anyhow the librarian who does not like me crossed the line. She looked at me and said, "how come this does not happen
The other librarian told me to start photocopying my slips. I am going to do that and have the person i hand them in to sign my photocopy.
:(
And nobody walked in on my shower, although i really hurried because I wasn't in the mood for anyone to walk in. :)

I just couldn't believe she said that even if she thought it. I told her that whenever it has happened before and the librarian has looked really hard for it they almost always find it. Plus if I reserve 100 books a year and someone else reserves 10, isn't more likely to happen to me. Plus most people are probably too shy or not 100% sure they actually reserved the book.
She ended up ruining my swim because I was so shocked that she would say that. The other librarian told me to start photocopying my slips. I am going to do that and have the person i hand them in to sign my photocopy.

That is a good idea. Too bad you can't do it all on-line like I do. I can track where the book is (library & due date) and my spot on the queue. It isn't perfect but over-all I'm pleased. I can also put a hold on my spot & begin it again in the same place I left off. Of course this extra perk can also keep me at the same number in the queue longer if someone ahead of me dropped out & returned. A couple of times I've noticed my number go up a spot instead of down but at least I know why it happened.
I expect the nasty librarian didn't apologize when you mentioned the slips were found. It makes me wonder if she is trying to hide her personal incompetency.

Also Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Jayne!

The funny thing is that I always try to be nice to the lady even though she has always had "attitude" with me. I think it is just me and only when I call her on losing stuff. Because last week she went out of her way to help someone else.
At least with my photocopying from now on I will have proof that I was not lying.
I don't know if I believe any of that CBS stuff, although they are such whores I wouldn't put it past them. Rather than do the right and responsible thing, it's always about the money - but if they take him back and if he comes back he'll probably make even more obscene amounts than he's already making. And it sends a clear message to all other actors - do whatever you want, behave like a pig, make fun of your network and producer, and be a complete jerk and we'll still take you back. But I just don't really believe it.
In today's mail we received a save-the-date card for Rob and Mary Linda's wedding :D
I heard Charlie Sheen has a touring show. I didn't know he sang. Or is he a dancer?

DR Laura, your SuperMoon picture is amazing! I spent a half hour sitting out in the cold trying to get a good shot but all I managed was a big bright blob.

Considering the amount of time you spend at the library it is a double shame you have to deal with this person & ridiculous you have to copy all of your slips. By doing so maybe you will break you jinx & nothing will go missing.

Actually I don't know why i didn't think of photocopying them before now.

Photocopying the slips will not prove that you turned in the slips, only that you filled them out.

Because it is a pain to do so & a waste of paper. Do you have to pay to copy them? What if you fill out two slips for the same book & have them initial the second one as a duplicate. How many do you put in at once?
I hurt my shoulder at PT this afternoon. It was my fault & had nothing to do with therapy. I forgot & put my arm behind my back the wrong way. The pain is in the spot I call my nemesis spot.

George I'm surprised anyone would have a book on hold as long as a year unless the queue was terribly long. I don't have to put an expiration date on my hold requests. If I suspend a hold I may include a reactivation date.
Today's birding trip was a bust. I had been looking forward to today, because My Birding Buddy's photographer son is in town and he was going to help me with camera tips. It is so cloudy and windy that the birds weren't out.

In those cases, it's not that the queue was that long, but the publisher or author has announced that a book will (eventually) be written. So, we used to create a dummy bibliographic record so that patrons could put holds on the title, and then we wouldn't have to deal with ALL those paper requests. But the problem is that some books don't get written. The publisher will say it's still going to be written, but they don't say when. We now have a policy that patrons can't request a title to be purchased unless it's actually published...but there are still some titles that have been in the system since before that policy was adopted, so they're essentially grandfathered in.

Speaking of libraries and waiting a long time for something and...Ishtar(!)...has anyone heard of this documentary that's supposedly going to be made? It's called Waiting for Ishtar (http://www.waitingforishtar.com/) and it's about people who have requested it from their library and are waiting to see the movie. It doesn't look like the website has been updated since 2008 (other than comments), so I don't know what's going on, but it sounds very interesting...if it ever happens.

On my way to work today I listened to a story on NPR about the Music Festival in Austin and thought " that's where John G was - I wonder if Druxy ever wandered through and enjoyed any of the music"I wish we had had a change to meet, but time slipped away.

I have a friend in New Jersey just getting over pneumonia. That may be gone, but the residual bronchitis is now making life tough for her.I hope your friend is ok, Jose.
I hope so too. Unfortunately, there seems to be an uptick in cases on pneumonia right now.
