Well, you've read the notes, the notes were big and had a ball, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently eating a MOOtzo ball.

And the word of the day is: BEDAUB!

Morning all.
That is all.

According to FedEx tracking the computer (and two other boxes, a monitor and speakers) has left Brooklyn and is on the truck for delivery.
When it arrives it will sit unopened until at least tomorrow since I'm seeing Kathleen Turner in

Good morning, all! I was wide awake around 4:30 and then I slept two more hours, the bartender above me returned home around 6:30, at which time my alarm went off, and now I am bathed and dressed and ready for a schlep to the NYU Dental Clinic. I know I was having a weird dream involving Bruce Pomahac of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, Mary Martin, a Christmas concert by the New York City Gay Men's Chorus, and God alone knows what else. I'm glad the alarm rang.
On Facebook, I got a lovely note from a Carnegie Mellon student who's been a fan of mine since he was a kid (he's what? 21 now?) watching the video of A Tale of Cnderella and he wants to talk to me about a show he's writing. The fact that the show is based on the gothic horror novel of rape, ghosts, religious fanatics, you name it, THE MONK, intrigues me. And it's nice to have a fan.
Re the decision: God knows when and if the Institute in California will resuscitate this project, but I think it's better stay on relatively good terms there, for two reasons: I want to see that score in print and I dislike throwing away 10 years of work. Since the east coat foundation is the one causing the most mental problems for me at the moment, I'm doing my work until September and this recording is in the can. This guy's cruising on thin ice, though: it's the little things that are breaking me down.

I watched RUNAWAY JURY last night.
I really miss watching Gene Hackman on the screen.
I don't want to start a debate here, but I think he was the finest actor of his day.
Does anybody know why he retired?
Was he ill...or was he just tired of the whole thing?

I read an interview with him. He's pursuing his painting and he basically did tire of it all. Said he didn't want to go out on a low note. He just wanted to go out/get out.

Yesterday I was not called into the jury box for questioning, so I'm going back to work today. It was sheer luck because they started with a panel of about 50 and there was only 13 of us left at the end. So, I didn't have to cough or sing or anything.

Congratulations, Amy! Are you done now? Or are you still on call?

Wednesday morning greetings! I have some puttering time here until early afternoon when I'll go out to the retirement community to help my cousin wind things up in the patio home his mom is vacating. Ask BK: How do the sales figures look for "The Counterfeit Traitor"?
Sadly, it is currently our lowest seller. I was warned up front: "Alfred Newman doesn't sell." As a huge fan, you just don't want to hear it. As a huge fan of the film and score, you doubly don't want to hear it. But unless it's The Robe or How The West Was Won or Greatest Story, he doesn't sell. Sad, shocking, and annoying. We've sold about eight hundred of the 1500 - normally I would have only done 1000 and then we'd be fine, but 1500 is the bottom number with Paramount, plus the licensing fees are more expensive. It may well end up the first Kritzerland project that doesn't actually break even, so that's a pretty good average - but I can't take another chance like that, unfortunately. Happily, our next Paramount will, I think, sell much quicker.
-
I'm up and shortly will be on my way to LACC.

Now I'm home and ready for a nap.

Flurry is very beautiful.
Well, she has used her attractiveness to her great advantage. At her home she doesn't get on furniture and sleeps on her blanket on the floor. She is used to a walk in the morning and one in the evening. NO MORE! She spends the night in bed with Woody and Fletcher - in the morning she gets right up and goes outside (doggie door) first thing. When I take my afternoon nap, she spends about 15 minutes in my bed with me, then goes into Woody's room and naps on his bed. At night she vies for coach space with the other dogs. Right now she is napping on the coach. She really enjoys frequent trips thru the doggie door to the back yard to snoop about. She has yet to lie down on her "special" blanket.

Richard and I just returned from the my aunt's former home, where my cousin has done a tremendous job packing up her belongings. Some items are going to her new room, some are going home with him to GA, some are here for us, our son, my sister, and my niece, and many, many more are going to Shaker Cellar, the resale shop there at the retirement community. They're going to have to build a wing on their building to accommodate this new infusion of merchandise.
-
Flurry entered our lives because of some splendid advance planning by a neighbor:
Last Thursday late-afternoon a neighbor (Paul) showed up at the door with a request. His wife was already in England and he was scheduled to fly out Friday evening to join her for three weeks. Would we mind boarding his dog (Flurry) for them? (The lovely lady is not spayed and her shots were not all up to date.)
We leashed our tribe up and took them out to meet the lady on neutral ground – the street. Fletcher of course went lumbering up to instigate play – and scared the poor girl half to death. Buster did his obligatory Alfa dog growl and then walked away; Bonnie went over, gave a sniff, went about other business; Mikey barked at a distance then just ignored her. So, it initially looked like we could give it a try. Woody was scheduled to work 10 – 6:30 the following day, I had a Dr. appointment at 11 and Paul had to leave for the airport by 6. I didn’t want to try to wrangle a five dog meet-and-greet in my living room alone, so Woody agreed to take his dinner break from 3-3:30 and dash home. Paul said he would bring Flurry’s special food (she has allergies) and her favorite blanket over at 2:30, I would pick-up Woody at 3 and he could bring Flurry around at 3:10.
(I didn’t dare ask what back-up plans he had – local kennel space, when available would run about $800 for a three week stay, and his vet better be ready to give her her shots scheduled for the next-day morning.)
Naturally, Woody’s management had a “problem” that needed his urgent attention, and no one else could do the work so they refused to allow him to take his union contract required dinner break. The corporate offices had been days late in providing data to the local stores, but the district manager was demanding that the local store manager get his report submitted by 4 PM, no matter what.
So… I went for broke; locked our tribe in my bedroom; brought Flurry into the house, left her leash on and let her explore about for a bit. I then let Fletcher and Mikey out and made sure there was no altercations then loosed the blondes (Bonnie and Buster). We all taught Flurry to use the doggie door (push her out, push her in and hope she’ll figure it out. The next morning I did find a small puddle on the kitchen floor and Flurry was no where to be found – she was outside sitting on the stoop waiting to see if she would allowed back in! And that was the end of the house breaking lessons.

On the Bernard Herrmann CD of A CHILD IS BORN, is that Harve Presnell as the thief? It sure doesn't sound like him singing, but eveything I have researcheed says that it is him.
BTW (By the way in internet lingo), Amazon.com sells a DVD called HOLIDAY TV CLASSICS for $6.99. it says that it has 4 DVDs and a total running time of 1260 minutes. I mention it only because it contains the G.E. Theater presentation of A CHILD IS BORN.

I spent several hours last night exploring solo lawyer websites. I had to remember all the benefits of being on my own after doing my taxes and realizing how much less I make now than I did a few years ago. The upside is freedom and happiness. There is no price I can put on that. I read about others doing the same thing I do and after a while I was excited about it again.

Today Edith and I spent a lot of time talking about marketing, cost cutting, fees etc. We're going to make some changes. It's going to be great

Other than that...I'm way behind on my writing at the office, so I'm going to just be in the office and write the next couple days

I'm done now, thank goodness. Some day, when I'm retired I'll be happy to serve and will attempt to get on as many juries as possible. I really think that I'd enjoy it. But right now, all I can think about is the hundreds of e-mails that are piling up at work while I'm gone.

they say the eagle's egg may hatch in the next two days. Predictions are Friday, everyone around here is watching.
-
I would love to be on a jury. Having been a lawyer in somewhere between 50-75 (if not more) I'd be fascinated being on a jury. I made it to the final cut when I had jury duty last year, but they cut me. It was a discrimination trial and would have been interesting

hmmm it wouldn't connect
-
I once served on a competency hearing panel. It was strange because it was the exact opposite of a jury. The defendant was competent unless proven otherwise. The tiny old man's attorney tried to make it seem as if his client was incompetent because he spoke Spanish, not English, and because he was alcoholic. Since half of the panel was Hispanic, several found his argument ugly, to say the least. We found him competent.
We could not know what the man was charged with, but I checked at the newspaper when I got back to work: He was charged with beating one of his sons to death while he was in an alcoholic stupor. The rest of his family had been at the hearing, but not a one seemed to be there to support him.
-
I've never been on a jury - I was inthe finals once buy was cut -- many many years ago
-
Night, all.
-
It connects for me when I click on the link in my quote. It shows the eagle quick then does an ad then back to the eagle.
-
The eagle is sleeping, not much to see right now. I'll link on my facebook again
-
There are 12850 viewers watching a bald eagle sleep. I'm not sure if I'm happy because that many people care or curious why that many people have nothing to do but watch an eagle sleep
-
DR JohnG have you seen the movie NUTS?
-
Good night, all! I may sleep really late tomorrow. If I get out of bed!
-
I have been on two juries: one was a drug possession where the defense rested as soon as the prosecution rested. The other was a civil, where they settled the day after choosing the jury. Plus a few times of sitting all day in the jury room and calling in only to be told I wasn't needed.
-
I spent 9/11 watching the news on the jury room television.
-
Weren't you on a jury about cement?
-
That was the civil trial. I'm so glad they settled, because there's no way I could listen to six days of testimony about cement.

I want to go see Marilyn Maye to celebrate my birthday. I just checked and she'll be back in Okoboji the end of July. She's such a cool lady. She comes to the lakes in Iowa every summer. When we had to raise 6 million dollars in 60 days to save a 100 year old amusement park, she was there every day, volunteering, stepping in to sing at the telethon we threw together you name it. I was looking for the song she wrote about my home town "Estherville" but I couldn't find it on Youtube, so I posted this one

We Saved the Park back in 2000. It was really fun to watch Marilyn be "re-discovered" by New York 5 or 6 years later. I see she's nominated for another MAC award as a celebrity artist. I hope she wins....Go Marilyn!

I'm going to have to look for some of the photos I have of her at Save the Park. I think they are in my other computer. I'll have to post them

Good Evening!
Greetings from New York City!
-
So...
My train ended up getting in 10 minutes "early" instead of the "29 minutes ahead of schedule" that was posted on Amtrak's website. I had three errands to run as soon as I got back. I got the first two done in record time - well, within 30 minutes of leaving Penn Station. Alas, the third errand took a bit longer than planned, but I got it done - and I don't have to rush around tomorrow morning taking care of it.
-
After my errands were completed, I headed to my friend's place on the UES, and then I met him down on the LES for dinner at the new storefront of Souvlaki GR (http://www.souvlakigr.com/). It's a beautiful space - like a house in Mykonos had been plopped down in the middle of Stanton Street. And the food was a good as ever.
-
And then for dessert we stumbled on the Little Cupcake Bakeshop (http://www.littlecupcakebakeshop.com/). Yum! :)

OH! The Google Logo!
-
BK, I spent the day in the car listening to your re-release of "Juno." Did you have to do anything to that recording when you transferred it? Does anything stick in mind?
Nothing to do with it - done after I left. I'm sure they allowed Sony to do the transfer and let me tell you that is never EVER something you want to do.
-
I have finished with my viewing for the evening.
-
And...
I believe the day - well, the past 36 hours has caught up with me...
Until the morning.
Goodnight.

Ms. Maye is competing with Bk's friend Sharon McNight, with Karen Mason, and with KT Sullivan & Mark Nadler for one of the top MAC awards, per the nominations announced today.

Marilyn Maye has been coming to Okoboji maybe longer than I've been alive...maybe not quite...but at least since the late 60s. She's been there every summer...at least I think it's been every summer. I can't remember one without her. So, I have a special fondness for her. And, she was there at one of the highest highs of my life. The day we saved the park was probably one of the most incredible days of my life. We fought the unbeatable foe and won. So, for my own personal reasons...I'll cheer for Marilyn.
-
Here's one of Marilyn and my friend Joe. Looks like it was 1999. I was thinking it was 2000. I didn't scan them all in, I'll have to go back and look for more. .

HIs shirt was the theme of our campaign...don't pass the point of no return (the sign at the top of our roller coaster) unless you're screaming!

Time to quit reminiscing and get some sleep. If anyone is interested here's a very short summary of the history of the park you can find that here http://www.arnoldspark.com/history.php?section=park (http://www.arnoldspark.com/history.php?section=park)
I will say the summary gives too much credit to the leaders...it was the people who saved the park...all the people
