Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fully designed, and now it is time for you to post until the fully designed cows come home.

Btw, re: the font from yesterday's cover.

It is a bit hard to read. The font is nice. But unfortunately "Masquers" is not a common word/term. And because the Ss are the one letter that is hard to read ... well I fear that many people will not be able to read the title.

Good Morning from the beautiful state of Florida where the new govenor is sending us to hell in a hand basket or in his case A Guicci hand bag originally $555 markdown to $1. Of course going to hell doesn't apply to Disneyworld, Universal Studios or The Holy Land Experience in Orlando

Weather wise - this is a beautiful morning here in Indiana....or at least in this part of Indiana.

NEXT Sunday are the auditions for THE MUSIC MAN, and I am hoping we have such nice weather then, too.

CARNIVAL arrived yesterday and it's most excellent......I love the London Cast album.....although after listening to the OBC, it will take a bit of getting used to....but not in a bad way.  I also love the London cast recording of BYE BYE BIRDIE!!!

I received my box of sale DVD's from the WB archive yesterday.

MACABRE was not a good movie.....I had never seen it, but since it was a William Castle spook picture, I wanted to.  And I certainly remember the ads!  I think insuring everyone in the audience AGAINST being scared to death by the picture was a no-brainer.....but I am glad they didn't offer insurance against being BORED to Death.....some people might have collected.

Also saw THE RELUCTANT DEBUTANTE with Mr Rex Harrison, Miss Kay Kendall, Miss Sandra Dee, and Mr John Saxon.....in a widescreen presentation.  Also figuring in the proceedings was Miss Angela Lansbury.  It is probably my favorite Dee/Saxon movie....and they both look stunning!!!  And Mr Saxon plays the drums!

DR MBARNUM sent me an autographed photo of Mr Saxon AT the drums for Christmas back in the 20th century, and it is very nice!

Good morning, all! I slept late again. I don't know if it's spring fever, allerbgies, depression, or my body dying. I hope it's the first. I am now bathed, dressed, and on my first cup of coffee.  My last dream had something to do with Jacques Brel songs, and I awoke with the song "Le moribond" running through my mind.

Today, more Herbert work on the EILEEN scores. I hope I feel more motivated than yesterday. If I don't, I have one last Netflix movie here, as well as a ton I have been meaning to watch for too long.

And please to pardon my errant and truantness over the past 72 hours or so. I spent 14 hours on Thursday trekking around Manhatttan trying to get my housing situation worked out, and then I spent Friday and Saturday recovering from said trekking. -And yesterday's weather in NYC was very nice too. Great for walking and walking and walking. -And some eating, of course. I'll find out tomorrow morning how everything works out.

And now I'm heading down to Union Square for today's Electronic Recycling Event. I'm dropping off an old portable printer, ZIP drive, laptop, and a bag full of cords of all sorts that I've been "hoarding" for the past five years. I almost just threw all of it out in the regular trash a few weeks ago when I was moving all of my stuff into storage, but then heard about this event, so... I set all of it aside in one corner of my storage unit, and now... Buh-Bye!

I know it's not Ask BK Day, but...

I recently introduced a friend of mine to Kristin Chenoweth's recording of "Lion Tamer". He's basically been listening to it non-stop for the past two days. You've mentioned that that was a "one take wonder". Was there any other "story" to that story? I thought you had posted something somewhere before, but I can't seem to Search/Google it out.

New Husband lasted 14 months.   New car is at 23 months and counting.... the new car wasn't as crazy as it sounds.  It's a 2009 Prius (i had a 2005 Prius) and it's the top of the line.  Normally I wouldn't have upgraded from the basic I had to this one, but it was zero percent interest and only 7 dollars a month more than I was paying on my old car.   I'm glad I did it.   I'll probably keep this one for years and years

How is Kirstie Alley doing on the show?

Amazingly well.  She's like everyone in the beginning..not 100%, but she can do the footwork and is really serious about doing it.  She's funny in a good way and Max is a good partner for her.   She classifys dances in how many pounds she can lose getting ready for it.   I was surprised how much I've enjoyed her, didnt' think I would

Today I need to do more errands, have to go to the farm and home store and buy softener salt, furnace filters and look at the patio furniture.  I won't be buying any right now, but I like to look at it.  I also like to look at the chicks and ducklings.  You can't raise them in town, but they sell them for the farmers

It's a beautiful day out, windy, but beautiful.   If the wind isn't from the wrong direction, I may sweep out the garage and start taking some of the outdoor furniture out of the garage.   I put it all in the the garage for the winter, it lasts a lot longer that way

She came in and we hugged and I sent her in to do a take on her own, which is what I always do - then we listen, I give whatever notes I have and we do another and then however many takes are needed till I feel we have enough to put together a great vocal.

She sang the song - it was perfect.  Sometimes it just happens.  I got on the talkback and said, "Go home."  She came in the booth and said, "Don't you need me to do it again?"  I said, "It was absolute perfection, listen."  We played it back for her and she agreed and said, "I just sang it from the heart."  I said, "You should sing everything from the heart, then."  I let her do another take just so she could, but she knew the first one had the heart and the magic.

I'll probably keep this one for years and years

zero percent financing and only a $7 bump?  That was  a great deal!!

The allergy flare I had this past week was helped immensely by my starting to use the nasal spray our doctor prescribed for last fall's flare and by my vacuuming up huge quantities of dust from underneath my bedside table.

Finished the first pass of my commentary.  Now I'll got out and take some photographs, have some lunch, and then return and continue proofing.  I found one lulu so far - I'd originally had a little bit about a product and then I changed the product, but neither I nor any of the proofers caught the additional reference to the original product I'd used.  It actually took a moment to rewrite the paragraph in which it was mentioned - it wasn't as simple as just cutting the reference altogether or replacing it with the other product.

I think she's doing much better than expected. The first week she got 23/30 (8, 8, 7). And that was the second highest score. She is much more motivated than I thought she would be. ANd she really seems to grasp the footwork. The judges keep commenting on how good she is at the steps.

No leftovers from brunch sorry, TCB. It was at a resort hotel perched above a perfect Hill Country view. It began with a mimosa made with blueberries instead of oranges. That was followed by a bold bloody Mary made with a bacon- and brisket-infused vodka. First course was steak tartare, followed by braised short rib topped with foie gras. Dessert was a flambeed meringue over a citrus cake with sections of pink grapefruit and orange at the bottom. I enjoyed all but the dessert. A friend had fresh strawberry crepes that were much better. But her entrees were not as good as mine. Other highlights were a crab version of eggs Benedict, a Belgian waffle with raspberry ricotta, and the steak half of steak and eggs.

And now I'm ready for a nap.

During my job interview Friday, I was asked if I would mind the chore of creating indexes. I said no, I would actually welcome it because, as I continue my studies, I rely on indices so much. I don't know if he liked my using the once-correct, now archaic "indices" or even if me believed me. But I have come to see the worth of a fine indexer.

I just pulled out my copy of "Mark the Music" to read about Mark Blitzstein and the creation of "Juno" as I continue my research into the musicals of 1959. The index fails to include the 30 continuous pages that the book devotes to the show. But it has a good number of references to other mention of the show in the text.

Just as well.  Your menu doesn't sound too exciting to me.  Sorry!  Actually your dessert sounded the best.  I have always found that restaurants tend to undercook thier steak tartare.

It's probably the same old frock he wore to the 1921 Actors Equity Ball, some Chanel or Erte ripoff.

Well, if you didn't want the steak tartare appetizer, there was a clear gazpacho served in a martini glass that had the full flavor of tomatoes, cucumber and more. Or there was a charcuterie plate with plenty of house-cured hams and salami. An a lobster salad in a fried potato nest.

I think she's doing much better than expected. The first week she got 23/30 (8, 8, 7). And that was the second highest score. She is much more motivated than I thought she would be. ANd she really seems to grasp the footwork. The judges keep commenting on how good she is at the steps.

Good grief, I do know how to spell classifies

They have the video on YouTube of what happened this afternoon.  It looks like the dad was tossing a shell out of the way or something and the little one grabbed on and went for a ride.  Then Dad squawked for Mom. She came and still didn't get the little one where he needed to be for quite a while.   I turned it off, but on the video, you can tell she got him under her.  whew!

DR Laura, the UStream site has a great description on how to tell the male from the female in this pair.  The female is larger, but she also has more of a ridge and her eyes are deeper set.  She has gray shadowing around her eyes.  The male has a ring around his eyes that make them look beadier.  He's also sleeker than she is.

If you're talking about the eagles, the infrared nightvision camera is on now.  Mom stays on the nest all night with the kids and dad perches on a branch nearby. You don't see him, but that's what the moderators explained.  Eagles don't see well at night, so he stays very nearby, but doesn't sleep on the nest

Why do you ask?
Title: Re: FULLY DESIGNED

OH!

Thanks, bk.

Housing Vibes for Jose

Thank You, DR vixmom.

And, as it turns out, as I was talking to some friends today, I found out the main reason why some of my housing "options" have been falling through. There's a relatively new law on the books that prevents landlords from renting a place for two months or less. -Apparently, it's to help(?) boost the City revenue from hotel taxes and fees. I happened to run into someone today who runs a bed & breakfast in the Village, and because of the new law, he is closing up his business. He would have to convert to a full blown "hotel" - which means new taxes, plus installing and upgrading certain amenities to hotel standards. Ugh!

Of course, landlords and property managers would rather set up 12-month and 6-month agreements. So...

Thankfully, I have some good contingency plans lined up, and everything will work out one way or another.

A former co-worker and I went to see the Cherry Blossoms this morning.  I haven't been to see them for many years, though I did drive by them other years when I was working on a Saturday ( I don't drive to work on weekdays).   It's a beautiful, sunny day , though a little chilly.

And I will be seeing the Cherry Blossoms later this week since I'll be heading down Tuesday for a few days of pre-production work on Oklahoma! at Arena Stage.

Play what, Missy?

let's play brunch --- you be the chef I'll be the customer

Is that some variation of the Randy Vicar and the Kitchen Wench?

Well, I think Mr. Jose, if he shows up from his home hunt, would have enjoyed the meal. And I like oatmeal, too. But not at brunch.

<NOD>

And for dessert tonight, I happened to have bacon doughnuts served with maple glaze and a coffee ice cream.

Act One is finished except for two horrid pages at the end of the First Finale that I will have to redo. It's time for MILDRED PIERCE Part 3.

DR elmore - Any thoughts on the upcoming sequel to "Upstairs, Downstairs" starting next week on "Masterpiece"? -It's now called "Upstairs Downstairs". -No one seems to know exactly what happened to the comma.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

John Preece IS Tevye.

Or was it more like "Tevye IS John Preece".

-And, yes, that's the Non-Equity tour.

In other news...

After I dropped off my stuff at this morning's Electronic Recycling Event at Union Square, my friend, Neal, texted me, and said he wanted to meet for brunch. Well, since we were only two blocks from The City Bakery, and since he had never been there, well...

And that was Brunch #1.

As I was leaving The City Bakery, I got a text from my friend, Emma. She was the understudy for "Young Violet" when I did Violet years ago back in Richmond, VA. She was waiting in line to get into the Vegetarian Food Festival. Alas, since it was a free event, the line was long. In fact, it wrapped around the block. Even the paid VIP line was dealing with a wait. After making some inquiries, we found out that they were predicting a two and a half hour(!!!?!?!?!!) wait to get in. It was already 2:00pm by that time, and they were supposed to close up shop at 4:00pm. So...

She wanted to grab a bite to eat before she headed to work, so we went to East of Eighth. I just ended up having a small salad, while she had a nice full meal. And we had a great time catching up too.

And that was Brunch #2.

On the way out of East of Eighth, another friend texted me: "Hey, I'm down in Chelsea. Do you want to check out the new flavors at Doughnut Plant?" So...

One Fresh Strawberry Cake and a Tres Leches Cake Doughnut and a small latté later...

And that was Brunch #3 (of 3).

And then I headed back up town to Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall to catch Matthew Polenzani's recital. He was presenting one work: Schubert's "Die Schöne Müllerin" song cycle, with the pianist, Julius Drake.

It truly was one of the most beautiful recitals I've ever attended. Matt was in great voice. Julius Drake's work at the piano was exemplary, and they were most definitely working as a team, as one.  The 10-minute standing ovation at the end was truly deserved.

Of course, there were a few annoyances during the recital. One - maybe two - audience members had their hearing aids turned way up. There was a lot of whistling going on. In fact, Matthew even stopped after the second song, asked the audience, "Does anybody know what's making that sound?". Someone in the front said, "It's a hearing aid." ...And then a few seconds later it stopped.  Alas, the whistling did resume later - twice - but very briefly.

Oh, and the women who was sitting four seats away from me forgot to turn off her cellphone... And it took her at least five rings before she even dug it out of her bag. Ugh! Thankfully, that did not cause Matthew to stop the recital again.

And then...

My friend, Yosh, texted me, "I made reservations for dinner, but my two friends who were supposed to come with me had to cancel. Do you want to go? My treat."

Well...

The dinner at Traif (http://traifny.com/) was quite good. It's basically one of those "small plates" restaurants, so the three of us - our mutual friend, Cynthia, joined us too. The food was quite wonderful.

Grilled Shishito Peppers with Crisp Pork Belly, Feta Cheese and White Anchovies.
Hand-Torn Pasta with Braised Rabbit and a Stinging Nettles Pesto.
A "Fritto Misto" of Sweetbreads, Cauliflower, Eggplant, Lemon with a Tonnato Sauce.
Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Grapes, Tomatoes, Puffed Rice and Chile Vin.
Etc., etc., etc.

-And that's where I had the bacon doughnuts - which were basically small beignets topped with real bacon bits, then drizzled in maple syrup. Sort of like breakfast. ;)

The meal started off with an amuse-bouche of a small cup of "Warm Bacon Broth".  And, if you happen to know what the term "traif" means, well... ;)

And now...

I need to get to bed. I have a bit more running around tomorrow in regards to my housing situation, although, again, it's all already worked out one way or another at this point. I hope.

Goodnight.

I am shocked! I am stunned! I am speechless!  I received notification that I have been selected for memebership in the National Association of Professional Woman!

Thank you to everyone responsible for this great honor!
Congrats. Have you selected your gown for the inauguration banquet?

Not yet!  I will ask Ginny and Cilla and Vixmom for help with my selection.

I still have my "Indian" costume from the first TAO Cannibal! The Musical!  I'd be honored if you wanted to borrow it. ;)

George wore a number in a video he posted awhile back that might work, too. He was singing a number from "Nick and Nora."

Sadly, I don't have that.  It was sold years ago by the theater group in a fund raising surplus sale and I didn't find out until afterward. :P

Tonight was our first night in the performance space.  We didn't have a run-through, like I thought.  We sang through all the songs so that the band could experiment with sound levels.  It went well but the show is going to be very loud.
