Welcome back, Arnold!!!!!
Oh, and the real reason I posted those Titanic artifacts last night was that I was testing my new printer/scanner/fax.

Is everything working?
I klnow you are dying to fax me, but I don't have a fax, DR TCB!
DR Cillaliz, I have not read any of Michael Connelly's books. Maybe DR Jane has?
Btw, have you picked your favorites yet on DWTS?
yes DR CILLA LIZ wins the spontaneous award for BOTH of her events......did the new car last longer than to new husband?
How is Kirstie Alley doing on the show?
OH!
I know it's not Ask BK Day, but...
I recently introduced a friend of mine to Kristin Chenoweth's recording of "Lion Tamer". He's basically been listening to it non-stop for the past two days. You've mentioned that that was a "one take wonder". Was there any other "story" to that story? I thought you had posted something somewhere before, but I can't seem to Search/Google it out.

New Husband lasted 14 months.

LOL! I read it first as "14 minutes."
Computer repairman vibes for DR BEN.
Glad you got your printer/fax/copier/radio/tv/percolator/blender working DR TCB
Off to brunch with some friends.
Good Morning from the beautiful state of Florida where the new govenor is sending us to hell in a hand basket or in his case A Guicci hand bag originally $555 markdown to $1. Of course going to hell doesn't apply to Disneyworld, Universal Studios or The Holy Land Experience in Orlando

New Husband lasted 14 months. New car is at 23 months and counting.... the new car wasn't as crazy as it sounds. It's a 2009 Prius (i had a 2005 Prius) and it's the top of the line. Normally I wouldn't have upgraded from the basic I had to this one, but it was zero percent interest and only 7 dollars a month more than I was paying on my old car. I'm glad I did it. I'll probably keep this one for years and years
and finally the Vixter and I got home around 2:3o and made lunch
Congrats on being a member in NAPW, TCB!!!!!

If I had known, I might have bought a ticket and went just so I could add my voice as well.
And please to pardon my errant and truantness over the past 72 hours or so. I spent 14 hours on Thursday trekking around Manhatttan trying to get my housing situation worked out, and then I spent Friday and Saturday recovering from said trekking. -And yesterday's weather in NYC was very nice too. Great for walking and walking and walking. -And some eating, of course. I'll find out tomorrow morning how everything works out.The eating or the housing? :)
Congratulations, DR TCB! Would you like to join AAUW - American Association of University Women - too?

I would, of course, be honored, Ginny!
I'm depressed. I thought the world was going to end in December 2012 but when I was out and about yesterday I saw someone preaching that world is going to end on May 21st of THIS year. Sigh.
If I had known that, I wouldn't have bothered spreading grass seed, now my back yard dust bowl is NEVER going to be lush and green. ::) :'(
I want to know who is responsible for the mix up and would like to set up an appointment for May 22 to discuss the matter toot sweet! ;D

How is Kirstie Alley doing on the show?
Amazingly well. She's like everyone in the beginning..not 100%, but she can do the footwork and is really serious about doing it. She's funny in a good way and Max is a good partner for her. She classifys dances in how many pounds she can lose getting ready for it. I was surprised how much I've enjoyed her, didnt' think I would

Thanks to those who mentioned taxes! I have to get working on mine.
Richard and I just went for a 30-minute walk - my first outside walk since last fall. It's in the 70s here today and sunny. Pretty windy, too, which provided some "resistance."
A former co-worker and I went to see the Cherry Blossoms this morning. I haven't been to see them for many years, though I did drive by them other years when I was working on a Saturday ( I don't drive to work on weekdays). It's a beautiful, sunny day , though a little chilly.
No leftovers from brunch sorry, TCB. It was at a resort hotel perched above a perfect Hill Country view. It began with a mimosa made with blueberries instead of oranges. That was followed by a bold bloody Mary made with a bacon- and brisket-infused vodka. First course was steak tartare, followed by braised short rib topped with foie gras. Dessert was a flambeed meringue over a citrus cake with sections of pink grapefruit and orange at the bottom. I enjoyed all but the dessert. A friend had fresh strawberry crepes that were much better. But her entrees were not as good as mine. Other highlights were a crab version of eggs Benedict, a Belgian waffle with raspberry ricotta, and the steak half of steak and eggs.
The eagle-cam is a little too "circle of life" for me this evening :P
Play what, Missy?

I could probably manage the mimosa, but I'm not into infusing vodka. So, you'll just have to come to San Antonio and we'll go out to brunch.I was kinda thinking a mimosa made with blueberries instead of oranges. It's probably the same old frock he wore to the 1921 Actors Equity Ball, some Chanel or Erte ripoff.

Just as well. Your menu doesn't sound too exciting to me. Sorry! Actually your dessert sounded the best. I have always found that restaurants tend to undercook thier steak tartare.

i suppose this is too dressy for the occasion
I agree TCB - I like my steak tartare medium well
This bit from SNL featuring Elton John in an Andrew Lloyd Webber spoof is pretty funny:
http://broadwayworld.com/videoplay.php?colid=223883
Well, if you didn't want the steak tartare appetizer, there was a clear gazpacho served in a martini glass that had the full flavor of tomatoes, cucumber and more. Or there was a charcuterie plate with plenty of house-cured hams and salami. An a lobster salad in a fried potato nest.
I'm afraid to say it, but I think we have an oatmeal crowd here.
DR Laura, I think the eagles had been snacking on a bird and a rabbit. They were not on the brunch menu.

I think she's doing much better than expected. The first week she got 23/30 (8, 8, 7). And that was the second highest score. She is much more motivated than I thought she would be. ANd she really seems to grasp the footwork. The judges keep commenting on how good she is at the steps.
I was watching this afternoon when the father accidentally tossed one of the eaglets to the side of the nest...still in the nest but uncovered...it took forever...mom came back and it seemed to still take forever..honestly I had to stop watching, but she finally got him back under her where he needed to be. I thought I was going to have a heart attachThat's why I can't watch those things. Sure, they're lifelike; they're too lifelike.
LOL John G, they ARE lifeI feel like Homer Simpson after that one.

is this page 8?
Don't know how to say it but Steak Tar Tar. Yummers! I'm one of those odd people who like their steak rare. Just run it though a warm room and I'm happy.
I hate it when I type a post and then see I missed something. My biggest problem is that I know what I want to type in my head but my fingers can't keep up with it. I miss whole words but to make matters because I know what I wanted to say, I don't always SEE the missing word because my mind just "fills in the blank".Just know it's my fingers making the spelling errors, my brain knows the right way to do it

So Danise what IS going on with your governor?
So Danise what IS going on with your governor? In a word. He is a JERK. He wants to take away government workers pensions and he's hurting teachers as well. I don't know how that nut job got voted in. I know I didn't vote for him.
I love it -- these politicians serve one term and they have a pension for life but the non elected public workers work for 40 years and then are supposed to live on the streetAnd we have to deal with what they did for years after they are gone. Benefits, once taken, are VERY hard to get back.
way to help the economy morons --- people who have no money cannot spend it
DUH!
I need to see that as well. I keep hearing about it.
I have to ask you, Cillaliz--am I walking the beat in your city? I think that's sooo cool to see you and Jason!

Jose have you ever played auditions for the Prather's Organization?
OH!
I know it's not Ask BK Day, but...

She came in and we hugged and I sent her in to do a take on her own, which is what I always do - then we listen, I give whatever notes I have and we do another and then however many takes are needed till I feel we have enough to put together a great vocal.
She sang the song - it was perfect. Sometimes it just happens. I got on the talkback and said, "Go home." She came in the booth and said, "Don't you need me to do it again?" I said, "It was absolute perfection, listen." We played it back for her and she agreed and said, "I just sang it from the heart." I said, "You should sing everything from the heart, then." I let her do another take just so she could, but she knew the first one had the heart and the magic.
Housing Vibes for Jose
Hey, Jose -- did you play for the current tour of "Fiddler on the Roof"?

Well, I think Mr. Jose, if he shows up from his home hunt, would have enjoyed the meal. And I like oatmeal, too. But not at brunch.
Act One is finished except for two horrid pages at the end of the First Finale that I will have to redo. It's time for MILDRED PIERCE Part 3.
It sure seemed non-Equity.
John Preece IS Tevye.
It sure seemed non-Equity.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
