Well, you've read the notes, the notes were feh, and now it is time for you to post until the feh cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TINTINNABULATION!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
Dino is a dish best served cold.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD: I've had many a meal that was overindulgent, but I somehow don't go overboard on things for myself unless it's a trip. This one for Hawaii next week is an example.
-
good morning y'all
-
Thursday morning greetings! Today I must gather my strength and visit the hospital to check on my aunt.
-
TOD
I flew to L.A. Saturday morning. Went to The Brain From Planet X that evening. Went to my hotel and took an very early plane Sunday morning back home.
-
Vibes for Cillaliz and all those affected by the weather.
-
DR Cillaliz - thanks for the heads-up that we might be getting some cooler weather soon! I hope you find your weekend in Wisconsin refreshing - you deserve it.
-
BK - with tabbed browsing in Safari, it's possible to be on more than one site at a time. On a typical day, I have tabs open for Gmail, HHW, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
-
TOD: The most indulgent thing I have done for myself is to landscape my backyard.
-
TOD - The most indulgent thing I've ever done was to walk away from a professional position to be a stay-at-home Mom. It was costly, not just in terms of $$$, but also in terms of my career path. And I don't regret it for one minute.
-
TOD:
My grandest indulgence was a spa weekend at St Lucia a few years back. It was a spur of the moment decision and thus very expensive but worth every moment there.
-
The other day, I came home to find my cable boxes in my living room and in my bedroom going crazy. There was no TV signal on either box and the displays were flashing a series of letters and numbers. I didn't bother calling Comcast because I saw the word "boot" flash up and I realized that they were doing some remote work on the boxes. Well, when I was finally able to turn my livingroom TV on, I found that they had installed a new menu system (I've been getting mailings warning about this for sometime now.) Whereas before, my cable menus were pretty generic but very useful, these new TV Guide menus are clunky, don't display as much channel info at a time, and contain ads. Feh, indeed!
Plus, there's some glitch where if I schedule a show to be recorded, the TV will turn itself on when it begins to record. I woke up at 2:30 AM to the sound of the TV blasting (I had set it up to record a rerun of the Drama Desk Awards showing on Ovation.) Grrrrrrr...
-
Maybe it's time for another indulgence--a Tivo Premier box.
-
Good morning. It's a very cool 57 degrees this morning and it feels fabulous!
-
I need to go to work this morning then I'm going to pack, pick up the house, leave a note for the cat/house sitter and get out of Dodge for a few days
-
I decided to just accept the fact I haven't gotten anything done and move on. I'll catch up at some point.
-
DR George, I'm not worried about the date/time stamp issue. The photographer is a good friend of mine and if people think I'm copying her, that's fine. It's her profession, it's my hobby
-
I am not a fan of Facebook. I've heard/read far too many things about how Facebook uses and markets your information and cares very little about your privacy. Now, of course, our posts here are open for anyone to read, but I never felt that BK was informing some third party corporation about my tastes in movies or music so that they could direct an ad directly to me.
I have been posting occasionally on Facebook, but primarily to my family who are also on there.
Now, Twitter, on the other hand... ;)
-
I actually take it as a compliment that she chooses to shoot the same things I did. It either means she saw my photos and thought it was a good shot....or it means that I have a good eye and just happened to shoot the same things. There are only so many places we are allowed to go. The police have blocked things off and with all the new levees everywhere, some places are just impossible to get to
-
Facebook has been a god send in the flood fight. We have a group Siouxland Flooding and people send in requests for volunteers and those who volunteer are told where they are needed the most. People who have no one to help suddenly have a small army there ready to do what needs to be done. There are many homes that have a chance to be saved thanks to Facebook It's an amazing tool
-
Of course if you rely on TV, there isn't anything going on. Just wait till all this water hits St. Louis....won't they be surprised.
Mike Huckabee said it was flooding in Des Moines.....Des Moines isn't even on the Missouri. You'd think he'd know that....well maybe not
-
I have to catch up. Looks like so much has been going on.
-
BK,
I love the story of Mr. Wilton H. Fremk and his 10,000,000 hits.
It may not make a novel or a screenplay, but it would certainly make a funny SNL-like skit.
:D
-
TOD:
Would the fact that I have over 3800 movies and TV series on DVD be considered overindulgent?
::)
Before I moved to Austin, I had almost twice that number.
:o
-
La de DAH dee dah dah.
-
Good morning, all! Last night I had several bizarre dreams, but I remember none of them now, except that on an early morning trip to the bathroom i remember thinking, that dream was a doozy! I stayed up too late reading bits of Steve Suskin's Broadway Orchestration book.
Today, I finish the EILEEN edits currently on my desk and wait for more to hopefully arrive soon. I may have to go down to the McGlinnventory to see how things stand with the new photocopies of chorus and principal books.
BK, I'm sorry that you're bent out of shape about Facebook. My feeling is, and has been, that we need to add new members to the group, and the last new member, to my recollection, is my friend JohnG. Some E&T DRs stop by occasionally, like Swishy Sarah and Noel, but some have their moment, take what they need, and vanish, like that sister act that knew DR JMK, and some die, like William Lurie. Perhaps rather than raving about bitchslapping and E&T members, you encourage new DRs? A lot of the ones who've been here from the beginning came as a result of your recordings from the 1990s, and I don't know how they even knew about HHW, since I didn't know about this site until 2003.
-
Thanks DR CILLA LIZ and all for the MUSIC MAN postings. Much appreciated. Another sold out performance tonight....and my last day of NOT WORKING and doing the show....because I work 1/2 days on Friday and Saturday.
-
!! Page Two Dance !!
-
And to add to today's posts before I head off for work . . .
-
New people?
I'm still getting used the ones we have.
-
TOD: I hit the snooze button 3 (count 'em THREE) times this morning!
-
Good morning. It's a very cool 57 degrees this morning and it feels fabulous!
That is fantastic news! Enjoy it while you can.
-
I am not self indulgent, and can't remember anything....other than buying an expensive photo or geegaw on Ebay....hmmmmmmmm
-
I couldn't make myself any plainer if I'se a Quaker on his day off!
-
It is a nippy 72 this morning.
-
Thanks DR CILLA LIZ and all for the MUSIC MAN postings. Much appreciated. Another sold out performance tonight....and my last day of NOT WORKING and doing the show....because I work 1/2 days on Friday and Saturday.
Another sellout? This is fantastic! DR JRand60, in the history of your theatre since you've been with it, what are the bestselleras and worst?
-
I'm glad your show is going so well, JRand. Are those two folks showing up so far?
-
Good morning, how is everyone on this beautiful Thursday? Ain't life grand?
-
I had a rather bizarre dream involving Jon Stewart last night. That is all.
-
A very merry UN-Birthday to all and sundry.
If you're not sundry, you must hie you hence to a sunny place and dry.
-
That's my BKism for the day.
I promise.
-
And the word of the day is: TINTINNABULATION!
And The Song Of The Day Is: BELLS ARE RINGING
-
Yesterday, I had a phone conversation with a guy that I hadn't talked to for well over 40 years.
He's originally from the Seattle area and, in fact, is living up there now.
Back in the day, he played the title role in a Kirkland Community Theater production of MR. ROBERTS...and I was suppose to play the Captain. Unfortunately, I had to bow out because I was directing another show.
In any event, this guy moved to Los Angeles about the same time I did, and he became a reporter for one of the local TV stations.
He was on the scene at the Ambassador Hotel the night that Bobby Kennedy was shot.
-
Dino is a dish best served cold.
Dino On The Rocks With A Twist
-
How does Dino play the piano with those clunky dinosaur feet of his?
-
I've done my basement walk for today, during which I had a call from Richard. His return from northern Indiana will be delayed because the Bishop was taken to the hospital in the middle of the night. That's about all I know, except that Richard's cell phone needs a charge and he doesn't have the cord with him.

Dino is a dish best served cold.
Dino On The Rocks With A Twist
That's The Title Of My Next Novel
-
I don't use no Facebook.
-
I'm on facebook, but I don't use it (more than once a month, so far).
-
I am up and soon I will be on my way to pick up some tapes and return some tapes.
-
I'm on facebook, but I don't use it (more than once a month, so far).
Good, then you're splitting your time evenly between here and there :)

*SNAP*

Another sellout? This is fantastic! DR JRand60, in the history of your theatre since you've been with it, what are the bestselleras and worst?
Hard to say - since in the early days we only did three performances, and now we do six.....but generally speaking:
Since we moved to our own theatre:
Grease - which was awful as only it can be with a director with no skills is our champion with over 1900 tickets sold.
In the last ten years or so....The Glass Menagerie and All My Sons were at a little over 900 tickets each.....and we have a season ticket base of over 800....so not a lot of interest in those shows.....I only directed one of them.
Last season's BLITHE SPIRIT was our most expensive and least attended show of the year.....I did direct that.
-
And we did sell 1022 tickets to BLITHE SPIRIT....with an attendance of 956.
Here is our attendance history for the last 50 years. 8)
http://www.putnamcountyplayhouse.com/attendance/
Right now we have 198 tickets available for each performance....so for a seven performance run - our capacity is 1386. ;D We sold 888 season tickets this year, so we only have about 498 tickets available for any particular show. ;D
-
Now I sound like I do at a board meeting.
MANY MANY years ago there was a debate about adding to the barn to get more seats in the theatre....there were heated arguments for many different configurations and it was a rough meeting.....finally I said....adding to the barn is a pretty drastic measure.
Why not just add an additional performance? You get two hundred extra tickets to sell and all it costs is a night's royalty and the time of your cast & crew.
Crickets.........but we added a performance to the five we did then....and we now do seven.
-
On that note, welcome to Page 3!

Hey-LISTEN UP
We Will Hear The Tintinnabulation Of Tinker Bell Every Time A Dear Reader Posts On This Here Site....
So-Let's Keep The Bells Ringing
-
Good Morning Ben
That Is All
-
Three pages looks good for noon. I think we we were at three pages last night at 7 pm.
-
I've finished my notes for the Opening of Act Three, and I have one long song and two short melodramas to be edited. I hope there will be another score coming in today. The Act Two Finale should be close to completion.
Curtis, who makes the final corrections, is in London on a Bridge Project production of RICHARD III with Kevin Spacey ad he will be there through August or September, so we're working long distance. He's tied up with tech next week, and that's slowing things down. I could be doing final edits on some numbers so we can lay out the band parts, but I'm stuck until week after next.

Hey-LISTEN UP
We Will Hear The Tintinnabulation Of Tinker Bell Every Time A Dear Reader Posts On This Here Site....
So-Let's Keep The Bells Ringing
Let's make some noise
-
Is Spacey directing or starring in RICHARD III?
The play which features my ancestor - Lord Stanley.
-
Last night I watched THE BIG BOSS, a Japanese film from the late 50's sent to me by DR MBARNUM. It was just as good as THE LAST GUNFIGHT which I watched previously.
THE BIG BOSS was a more serious film....about rival gangs....with great performances...wonderful color and music....and an interesting story.....gang member tries to protect his brother who was involved in a hit....even though the brother wants to go on with his singing career and be in the public eye....what they don't know is that the only witness to the hit is lying to the police and really can't remember the face of the man she saw do the crime......
Mineo is the singing brother......Mr Toshiro Mifune is also in this film.....but without a trace of the humor he shows in THE LAST GUNFIGHT.
-
Ric is going to be my vocal director for CAMELOT. I know it was a tough decision for him....he played Arthur the last time we did the show, and I had to tell him, I was probably going younger for the role this time.
But I am VERY pleased that he is going to be working with me.....he also said he would take a role if I needed someone.....which means I may use him as Merlin......
He is playing the lead in THE MUSIC MAN....so I am sure he doesn't want another LARGE part....I wouldn't think.
-
Pictures from our 1993 production...and yes that is me as Mordred.

-
DR JRand, all your posts, for the good and the bad, always make me long to do theatre again.
-
Well then do it!
It's fun unless there are a million kids in the cast or you get an idiot director.....it is almost always a worthwhile experience, and you meet new people....and sometimes you get your picture in the paper!
-
Audition scenes chosen, copied, and numbered.
Audition sheets ready.
Tentative rehearsal schedule done.
Now I just have to wait until Sunday.....and hope for the best.
-
Good Morning! Good Afternoon!
I'm up, I'm up... And it's hot. It's HOT!
-
I actually haven't been outside today. Yet. But from all of the news reports, tweets and Facebook status updates, well... Those have been my "window".
-
DR George - As for today's Google Doodle: You can hit the "Record" button to start recording. When you hit it again to stop the recording, a URL will pop up in the gray bar. *Additionally, once you hit record, you can you use your keyboard to play the individual strings: a=Do, s=Re, d=Mi, f=Fa, etc. -You can even play Chopsticks!
-
Is Spacey directing or starring in RICHARD III?
The play which features my ancestor - Lord Stanley.
Starring. I'm sure there will be lots of gossip!
-
Jane: Your book shipped on June 1. Apparently it sat somewhere until June 6 at which point they actually scanned it into their system in Santa Clarita. It hit Portland last night so should be getting to you shortly.

How large a band do you have for these epic musicals, DR JRand60?
-
Three pieces: Piano, stool, and cover.
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
I guess the 5-day vacation I planned for me and Steve at Disneyworld: plane tickets, rental car, "on campus" accommodations, Park Hopper tickets and then the Chef's Table seating at Victoria & Albert's in the Grand Floridian Resort. -Actually, that dinner itself was quite the indulgence, but it was the wrap-up event for the whole shebang.
-
Hahahahaha.
No usually piano, synthesizer (picking up some of the other instruments), bass guitar, percussion, flute, and maybe one brass instrument.
-
it's only 82 degrees right now....and headed for 87 degrees....cooler than the 93 degrees we had yesterday
-
Well, Portland may just hit it back.
-
Tomorrow evening is my stand up comedy DAY boo.
-
Will a You Tube star be born?
Will you mention Miss Frances in any of your routines?
-

You look rather terrified as Morgan le Fay appears ready for a gospel moment!
-
DR JRand, all your posts, for the good and the bad, always make me long to do theatre again.
Me, too, DR Dan (the Man)! I've been rummaging for some photos to scan from productions in which DR Elmore and I were both involved...
-
DR JRand, glad you are enjoying those old Toho gangster films! They are fun.
-
Very fun....and the costumes are terrific for the ladies AND gentlemen! And the cars.....wow!

Page Four Delsarte dance.
-
wonder if this works?
-
I am very irritated by the lack of news coverage for a really basic reason. I know of one family who was vacationing and didn't think it was important to get back because they hadn't heard anything on the news. I guess it took a lot of convincing and by the time they got back they had 48 hours to move everything out of the house and find a place to live before they were told if you leave your house again you can't come back. It's a little hard to move when you can't go back to your house.
THAT IS TERRIBLE!! I figured an effort would be made to inform all home owners of the situation.
-
cilla i like the t-shirts.
-
Good morning.

Thursday morning greetings! Today I must gather my strength and visit the hospital to check on my aunt.
HUGS!
Thanks, DR Jane. I'm really dragging my feet on this. My cousin emailed earlier to tell me that he's coming next week and that she now has a feeding tube.
-
I'm sorry, Ginny.
-
Thanks, DR Laura - it's not really a surprise, but I'm glad to know before showing up in her room.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Back from picking up tapes. Amusingly, two of the tapes are from a different film with a similar title - one that I hadn't even thought about doing and maybe I'll do that, too :)
-

Thanks, DR Jane. I'm really dragging my feet on this. My cousin emailed earlier to tell me that he's coming next week and that she now has a feeding tube.
oh shit! i'm sorry ginny, it is time to let her go. please tell your cousins not to let them put a breathing tube down her, if it comes to that.
-
On a lighter note, here is a photo from the play in which I met DR Elmore:

It was an awful production of AUNTIE MAME in which I played Gloria Upson.

Jane-
How Are You Feeling?
Vibes and Marimbas For a speedy Recovery and Less TRIPS
-
I gotta tell you.
Tell Us. We Are All Ears.
-
In 1976, DR Elmore directed LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL and cast me as Helen Gant Barton (far right):

-
elmore you need to modify your post regarding who died.
You are right! It was the dreadful Wlliam Lurie who died. Thanks.
-
Ginny i know it isn't your call but they might turn to you for guidance.
-
Yes, DR Jane, they might. I have my speech all prepared.
-
Then, in 1978, DR Elmore directed Gilbert and Sullivan's TRIAL BY JURY. I'm the bridesmaid on the right:

How Are You Feeling?
Vibes and Marimbas For a speedy Recovery and Less TRIPS
thank you. i have some movement in my incredibly black & blue arm. unfortunately i still can't do much with it. the wrist is fine so i wish i was typing with it instead of my right wrist which hurts and makes my shoulder hurt more. on the upside i'm very grateful for what i can do :)
-
Yes, DR Jane, they might. I have my speech all prepared.
wishing you and your family the very best.
-
And the big finale:
-
Good Afternoon!
Well... I went out for about an hour to run an errand as well as to get a bite to eat.
And, yes, it's quite hot and humid right now here in NYC. Hopefully, the forecasted rain will arrive later and cool things down a bit.
-
Yes, DR Jane, they might. I have my speech all prepared.
wishing you and your family the very best.
Thanks, DR Jane. Can you tell I'm doing my best to avoid the issue?
I hope your recovery continues!

I told you, DR JRand, it was AWFUL!!!
-
Finally (for now), in 1979 DR Elmore directed THE FANTASTICKS and cast me in a role that was perfect for my vocal ability - The Mute:
-
DR Elmore also played a part in THE FANTASTICKS (not the one with the eyepatch...):

;D
Oh S H I T
it is my favorite swear word, not that i swear very often.

In these productions, the same actor played Patrick Dennis, Ben Gant, and The Man Who Dies. And Auntie Mame and Fatty Pert were played by the same actress.
-
I love the Fantasticks!! It looks fabulous!
Ditto and Ditto! :D

And:

Is that Elaine Stritch?
Well, she did play Joanne when we did COMPANY in 1979!
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was shocked when Jane said "shit."
-
Well, Kim the mom cat isn't hiding from us. She was so frightened that first day. She is still a little jumpy when the door opens, but when she sees it's people she knows, she's ok.
The kittens are beginning to run. A couple will eat canned food if I hand-feed them. They purr. (We've had kittens that wouldn't purr.) No names yet. I'll get Sandra to help me take photos of them.
-
I am tackling some of the junk around this house. That and what used to be paperwork, but now it's computer document work.
-
I love the Fantasticks!! It looks fabulous!
Ditto and Ditto! :D
Tritto and Tritto
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was shocked when Jane said "shit."
I am pretending it didn't happen.
-
Yes you have an Indiana request for kitten photos.
-

Seriously, Ginny, I pray that if it is your aunt's time, she will pass with peace. Hopefully Fr. Richard can help them understand.

Not only was I NOT shocked when Jane said "shit," I thought exactly the same thing when I read the message from my cousin.

On a lighter note, here is a photo from the play in which I met DR Elmore:

It was an awful production of AUNTIE MAME in which I played Gloria Upson.
Oh my gosh DR Ginny! I LOVE this photo of you!!

In 1976, DR Elmore directed LOOK HOMEWARD, ANGEL and cast me as Helen Gant Barton (far right):

I have been having a terrible time sleeping this week, sometimes due to noise and sometimes due to ?? In any case, I can now barely function and will soon attempt a nap. I have a pulse, but that's about it. Ugh!

I will have to return later to read the posts.

Tintinnabulation was one of my fifth grade spelling words.
-
I think that's the first time I've used it since fifth grade.
-
And...
Well...
Hmm...
-
Tintinnabulation was one of my fifth grade spelling words.
In about the 5th grade I was in a spoken-word chorus that performed the first stanza of Poe's THE BELLS for our school Christmas pageant and we had to learn to pronounce "tintinnabulation:"
Hear the sledges with the bells -
Silver bells!
What a world of merriment their melody foretells!
How they tinkle, tinkle, tinkle,
In the icy air of night!
While the stars that oversprinkle
All the heavens seem to twinkle
With a crystalline delight;
Keeping time, time, time,
In a sort of Runic rhyme,
To the tintinnabulation that so musically wells
From the bells, bells, bells, bells,
Bells, bells, bells -
From the jingling and the tinkling of the bells.
-
DR Laura - I think you may have answered this already, but... Just how close - or far - are you from the Wallow Fire?
A friend of mine is currently on vacation in New Mexico, and although he's been enjoying some of the amazing sunsets, he hasn't been able to enjoy the hikes - and the breathable air - due to all the smoke in the air coming from Arizona.
-
And...
Well...
Hmm...
What?
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was shocked when Jane said "shit."
Not only was I NOT shocked when Jane said "shit," I thought exactly the same thing when I read the message from my cousin.
When, over my objections, the decision was made to give my father a feeding tube i left L.A. & came home. when keith read the email a breathing tube had been put in he simply said i had email & then wisely went where he couldn't hear me scream when i read the news.

I am off to an early audition for Mr Petey E. who has to be in New York next week......he was The Barber in MAN OF LA MANCHA and was most excellent.....he was also Theo in PIPPIN.
He was at Ernie's Celebration of Life last Sunday.....when he went away he weighted about 35 pounds less than he does now....or maybe he just needs to buy some clothes that fit him now!

In Latin, we sang Christmas songs. All I remember of "Jingle Bells" now, after 45 years, is Tinniat, tinniat, tin tinnabulum!
-
And the word of the day is: TINTINNABULATION!
Sounds like one of Marcus Lycus' ladies

Today is Cole Porter's 120th birthday.
He doesn't look a day over a 100

I'm back from a wonderfully wonderful lunch of pastrami and kishka. My luncheon partner was the MGM lady - they have been firing everyone - her boss just went and she fears she's next, so we're trying to lock up the outstanding projects right now. If they're smart, however (thus far they've been anything BUT smart) they'll keep her as she's the only one there who's actually bringing income to the company.
-
I picked up some packages and am now home for the duration.
-
Jrand, the tapes are just the album master - this title has never been on CD and it's a film I truly adore, so one way or another we're doing it.
-
Now, eight pages makes me very happy at two-thirty! VERY happy.
-
Another sold out performance! Laters....
Congrats and Break Legs!!
-
Speaking of VERY happy, I've finished narrowing down the Kander and Ebb songs and have our show. I may add one more duet if a guy and gal are willing to do four each. But we have plenty of ballads so I'm not concerned really.
-
The other day, I came home to find my cable boxes in my living room and in my bedroom going crazy.
I totally forgot to record this. :P I hope that it'll be on again.
-
I am still excited to know that a new GUY HAINES cd is in the works.
You're not the only one! :D
-
And as the big storm starts to move through the area...
Laters...

And...
Well...
Hmm...
What?
DON'T LEAVE US IN SUSPENSE, MAN!!

Rob and I just ventured out to pick up dinner at the newly-opened Hot Head Burritos, a local branch of a Chipotle competitor. No competition, in my estimation. We also saw what's causing all the traffic on our street. On Central Avenue, the street parallel to ours one block south, in the same block there are lots of utility trucks and that whole block of Central is closed. Couldn't tell if they were water or gas & electric trucks, but we have both (so far...).

Oooo, Victoria and Alberts -- Very jealous. One of these days.....
-
Today is Cole Porter's 120th birthday.
And I celebrated by listening to "Jubilee" and enjoying every minute of it.
-
Ginny, the photos are spectacular. Thanks for sharing.
-
My dishwasher is still backed up. I guess it's time to get a new one. After the vacation and another paycheck or two.
-
Off for a nap.

DR Matthew - I forget how long in advance you can make the reservation, but if you think that there's a possibility of making a visit to Disneyworld, just make the reservation - and cancel it later if needed.
When we went, I was told that there were no openings during our stay - and I called the first day that it was possible to make the reservation - but once we got down to Disneyworld, we received a call, "Hello, we've had a cancellation. Would you like to dine with us tonight?" YES!!!. -And, best of all, since we were sitting in the kitchen, we were able to take off our suit jackets, as well as walk around to watch the food being prepared.

Today is Cole Porter's 120th birthday.
And I celebrated by listening to "Jubilee" and enjoying every minute of it.
Earlier today, I received the "new" 1930 version of Strike Up the Band (http://www.psclassics.com/cd_strikeup.html)! I went home for lunch and got the 1927 version (http://www.amazon.com/Strike-Band-1990-Studio-Cast/dp/B000005J11/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1307661394&sr=1-2) that was recorded at the same time with the same cast (that I've had since it was released in 1991!). I'll listen to them shortly, one right after the other. :)
-
In other news...
I just saw the casting announcement for the upcoming Broadway revival of Annie, and realized that the Open Call for Annie and her fellow orphans will be taking place right across the street from where I'm staying on the UES on Sunday. I'm trying to decided whether to watch the spectacle from the balcony or flee the area. ::)

One can marvel at how none of William Brohn's orchestrations sound as if they were written in 1927! I'm sure Russell Warner's work on the new recording sonds more authentic.

Really enjoyed the pictures, DR Ginny!

Apparently the temperature reached 102 degrees at Washington National Airport today.

Thank you john.

SAFE AND EASY TRAVELING HOME VIBES!!!

Thanks, DR Jane - I hope he can stay awake!

I expected your concern.

I'm at the age now where I would have stayed overnight in a motel. I don't like to drive late at night any more.

Ditto!

I'm with you laura though i never have liked to drive at night no matter the time.

Finished episode four of the web series - it's a little different than the previous three, but I think it's really fun.

I think I shall go sit on my couch like so much fish for a while. Nine pages - that's what I'M talking about. We just shot those dog days of summer all to HELL.

-
DRs Laura and Jane - I'm not sure why Richard didn't stay there until morning, but I appreciate you all keeping me company until he arrives safely. Rob's here, of course, but studying for his exam retake tomorrow.
-
I apologize if I have not been doing my share of posting this week. I wish I could say that I would not let it happen again; but quite frankly, my current health problems are of more concern to me than HHW.
If I had to do without my friends and family that I have made on this site, I would be devastated. But for the moment, I am doing the beat that I can.
-
DR George - As for today's Google Doodle: You can hit the "Record" button to start recording. When you hit it again to stop the recording, a URL will pop up in the gray bar. *Additionally, once you hit record, you can you use your keyboard to play the individual strings: a=Do, s=Re, d=Mi, f=Fa, etc. -You can even play Chopsticks!
There was a time when I could push a button and pop up in a gay bar. What............... Oh gray bar.
-
G'night!

DR TCB thank you for just one post a day, just so we know you are ok.

TCB's posting habits are fine and dandy and never a problem. Others have forsaken us to Facebook (Pogue, for example) - where he obviously feels much more at home.

Well, it's about time: Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark Is "Frozen"; No Empire State Building Set Change Planned (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/151632-Spider-Man-Turn-Off-the-Dark-Is-Frozen-No-Empire-State-Building-Set-Change-Planned)!
The June 8 evening performance of Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark at the Foxwoods Theatre was a special one for the musical's cast.
The performance, which was the musical's 177th preview, marked the last time changes would be implemented into the production, which has been in previews since November 2010. The production, which will officially open June 14, is now "frozen," a term that means what is currently on stage is the final version that critics will review. In fact, critics have been invited to attend the June 9-11 performances.
About the production being "frozen," Philip William McKinley, who is now overseeing the musical, told the New York Times, "I assure you that there are a lot of very excited and relieved people at the Foxwoods Theater today. But no one will be celebrating until Tuesday night."
In related news, producers of Spider-Man had asked that the Empire State Building change its colors to red and blue for the musical's opening night, according to the New York Post. Executives at the New York landmark said they would only do so if a battle between the Green Goblin and Spider-Man, which is depicted in the $70 million musical, was shifted from the Chrysler Building to the Empire State Building.
Producers of the musical were unwilling to make what would have been an extremely costly change to the musical's set.
Show spokesman Rick Miramontez told the New York Post, "Spider-Man is an equal opportunity web-slinger, and there's room in his heart for all of New York's great skyscrapers."

Just got some exciting news from LACC - the third slot of the next season is MINE! We'll be doing a fully-staged version of the Lost In Boston/Unsung Musicals show we did at the Gardenia. I'll do the contextual commentary (this time from a proper podium) and we'll be using the students who can sing, plus bringing in two ringers, one male, one female (most likely Alet). We run six performances all in one week, which works out perfectly. We open November 30 and are done by December 3 - my plan is then to try and sell the package to a licensing organization like Rodgers & Hammerstein. We'll also have a guest star at every performance to do one number - my plan is for it to be a different guest star each show so that will probably get us return customers.
-
Great news, BK - congratulations!

Great news, BK!

Excellent news, BK.

Vibes for TCB.

I can't spell nothing but Southern tonight. I just typed "infadel" and wondered why SpellCheck said it was wrong. That's the way we'uns pronounce it, so that's how it should be spelled, right? Infadel, infidel -- let's call the whole thing off.

Are having fun yet?

A new page?

Page 10 dance!

I've been playing with kittens, so, Yes.

That was supposed to follow John G's "Are we having fun yet?" post. It makes no sense where it is now.

And I'm playing with my bird. But it's time for bed.
Night, all.

Well...
My MacBook started acting up a little while ago. It just got slower. And slower. And slower. Which usually means that I've spent a bit too much time surfing the interwebs. So, I logged off and shut down for a while.
-
I'm watching Letterman to see Neil Patrick Harris.
-
bk - Wonderful news! -And you happen to need an MD for that November show, well... ;)

And now..
Goodnight.

I'm so far behind in paperwork and my own stuff that needs to get done.
The guy said he loved me. My time was well invested. Now comes the hard part. Not breaking up.
:)

Mega vibes for everyone.
Sorry for all the things I missed.
Now I can relax a little bit and spend some time getting back into things that need to get done daily, even if I need to make a list and tape it to my forehead.

I miss music and movies and magazines and books and yard work and car work and house work and cooking and this site and ordering cd's and ordering books and bk's shows and and and and.

Love you.
Sweet dreams everyone.

Will most definitely be there. :)

I'm watching Letterman to see Neil Patrick Harris.
Mike Birbiglia is on, also. I really like him. :)

Book signing is a week from Saturday. And you're missing some incredible CD releases.
