Well, you've read the notes, the notes were not texted, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently texting whilst chewing their respective cuds.
-
And the word of the day is: MELISMATIC!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
I have a lunch meeting from Noon to 2pm today.
-
Good Morning to all
-
All kinds of vibes to everyone who needs them.

TOD
Not to me of course but two that happend to friends.
Friend #1: He was on the Incredible Hulk roller coaster at Universal's Island of Adventure (I bet people know where this going but its the coda that's amusing.) Well on one of the loops his cell phone fell out of his pocket. It was too small to be caught by the net that was put up to catch falling objects and fell into the lake. He had all his clients information on it. He offered to pay what ever it would cost to drain the lake to retrieve it. I heard the story after the event I told him he should have hired a professional diver to retireve it.
-
Friend #2.
Was talking a walk in a development where another friend lives and for whatever reason they went by the lake. Stopped and he bent over and his phone fell into a sewer. They could see perched on something. They spent sometime trying to retireve it, but knocked further down the sewer

Good morning, all! I am soooo happy that this part of the EILEEN recordng job is over. I slept very well.
After I realized I had made my trek to the Kurt Weill Foundation in error, I got to Toyland by 10:45, sicne the two offices are only 7 blocks apart. I began with the woodwind books, checking that the pages had been taped in order and looking for any really dreadful copies from the printer. By the time Marnie arrived, I had finished the winds and moved on to the strings. We have a good copyist who could doesn't appear to understand that when a page turn occurs, one of the string players has to stop playing and turn the page. At that spot, if you've got 6 violins, you only have 3 players actually playing for at leat one measure. as a result, your violin sound is cut in half, and the first page turn he gave the violins, ignoring the place four staves earlier when they had an empty measure, was in a passage where they were marked to play as loudly as possible! It's better to have for the part more pages with sufficient places for turns than what he gave me, so I had to have the Violin 1 part for the Act One Finale reformatted and reprinted. The part went from 8 pages to 11, but now it's much easier for all involved.
By 4 pm, we were on the final stretch of checking parts so Marnie went to Fed Ex and came back with several cartons includng flat rate Internation 10kg cartons. By 6, we were loaded up and off to the Fed Ex at 28th and Seventh Avenue. I had forgotten how many forms we had to deal with so we spent another 30 minutes redoing labels and customs forms. Luckily, we had the nicest and most patient Fed Ex worker I've ever dealt with. Two of our cartons weighed more than 10kg - how manypounds is that? -and he had to repack them into a 25kg carton. By 6:45 we were finished and the three cartons were shipped.
The bad part of the day is that, because of the rush to ship, I completely forgot that I needed to stop at my bank and make a deposit by 5 pm. As a result, I am overdrawn $105 for insufficient fees this morning. I'm very unhappy about it, but it's my own damned fault.
So, this morning I go back to the Kurt Weill Foundation, followed by a stop at Toyland to pick up the full scores we are shipping to Judy, our record producer who lives in Riverdale. I also have to swing by Rodgers & Hammerstein to drop off a thank you gift, and then I'm home for a whle. That's my day.
Cell phones are a necessary evil, but I really do hate the idiots everywhere misusing them, from the fools who get out of an elevator and block the door while checking their text messages to the dumb asses who walk around publicly airing their opinions and private thoughts at the top of ther lungs to the world. Of course, it doesn't help that the manufacturers keep "improving" them so you have your computer, movie theatre, library with you wherever you go, if you so wish. I so do not.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Vibes to Vixmom and all in need -- and even if you don't need, but just want a few.
-
TOD -- Until I started this job a couple of months ago, I did not have a cell phone. I think I hate them even more now that I have one. Like Elmore said, they are a necessary evil, but evil they are.
I loathe the sounds of them going off, so I have mine on vibrate, which I can now feel even when I don't have the phone with me.
I'm glad I have a standard automobile because I can't talk and shift, so I can't talk while I drive.
I guess I enjoy my privacy too much because I don't know anybody I want to be contact with anyone that much.
-
Roses are red
Carnations are white
You are fired
As of tonight!
LOL!!!!
-
Everyone is SO busy here at HHW.....I love reading about everyone's ups AND downs.....most interesting.
DR JMK - are you going to have that part of the floor redone so it matches? Or do you have to have the entire room redone?
Wall to wall linoleum sounds good.
-
Lights are done......but in the rush....we left out one scene....so we will add those three cues tonight.....and fix the final cue.....and that will be done.
We sang and sang last night.....and tonight is ACT TWO....so we shall see what we shall see.
-
And the word of the day is: MELISMATIC!
And The Song Of The Day Is: I FEEL A SONG COMING ON
-
Cell phones.....I hate when people read them or text during NOTES or during rehearsal......how can it be THAT important? If I thought it was an emergency, I wouldn't mind......but I am sure it is NOT.
-
And the word of the day is: MELISMATIC!
And The Song Of The Day Is: I FEEL A SONG COMING ON
I used to sing this quite often but never got past the first four bars before someone would say: "Stifle it!"
-

I wish I could be there to witness it when it's done.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I need some coffee.
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
Oh, the stories I could tell!
Some about myself included. :-\
-
In other news...
JetBlue is having another online-only sale today. Some pretty good fares.
*bk - Check your email when you wake up.
-
DR JMK - This is a standard pattern for Julie. I'm sure that after a couple of days, she'll eventually send me sort of brief apology via email or Twitter.
;D
-
DR George - Sorry to hear about your friend. I, too, hope that she was given some advance notice.
-
And now I need to head out for a bit and take care of one of my pre-trip-back-to-DC errands.
Laters...
-
LOL DR JOSE.....I was reading last night's posts this morning and I was going to say something along the same lines as DR JMK.....using the same name.....but he beat me to it! LOL
-
DR JOSE when you get back to D.C. tell them to leave Social Security alone.....I start collecting in one year, and I would like to get some of my money back.
-
Off to do some shopping - for OTHERS!
-
Our Record Producer Who Lives in Riverdale - That should be the title of something or other. Maybe it already is.
-
George - I wonder whether she at least got severance. vibes to your friend, no matter what.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! It was so nice to sleep in my own bed last night. Today I'm off to Dayton for lunch with the grantwriters.
-
Oh, look, Page 2!
-
TOD....Cell phones have pretty much driven me out of movie theatres. Can't stand seeing all those distracting patches of light. I have also noticed on highways, that a lot more cars are hugging or veering over the lane dividing lines, which I attribute to cell phone usage. And like BK, one does wish one could get through a meal or a conversation without drifting inattention because someone has to check their phone. Just because it rings, one doesn't have to answer it; but,of course this is now true of all technology, we have become a slave to it. The umbilical connection people have to their computers is almost as bad. I love when I go to London for my two weeks every year and do not take my computer. What freedom! If I need to check my email, I can get on the hotel lobby computer every few days for a couple of minutes.
The other thing I hate about cell phones is texting. I hate text messages and tell everyone don't text me, call me. People want to be in contact with you, but love the impersonal option of not having to actually speak to you. I don't twitter at all. There is technology which can block cell phone signals and I think all restaurants, theatres, schools, and churches should be allowed to install it. No cell phones should be allowed in a classroom.

TOD:
I have a cell phone.
I don't know the number.
I don't know how to pick up messages.
The only person who has the number is my wife, and she knows that it's a waste of time to call me on it.
The only time I use it is when I'm out and I call my mail box place to see if the mail's in or I call my wife for something.
Otherwise, it's just there in case of an emergency.
Years ago (in CA), some schmuck smashed into me because he was talking on the phone and not watching his driving.
Here in Texas, you can talk on the phone while driving, but you can't text.
:-\
-
I'm much like Druxy.
I don't have a clue what my cell phone number is other than the area code.
I have put a post-it on the back with the phone number written out.
I do know how to dial voice mail (I hate that I can't delete a voice message unless I listen to it because 99.99% of the time it's a wrong number).
Anthony has my cell phone number and I have his (my sister in Minnesota also has the number but she knows not to call it because the phone will be off more than it's on).
I will use it this weekend when I'm in Michigan from Friday to Sunday but that's it. I may use it to call Hertz if if my flight is delayed. I will have a GPS with the rental car so I won't need to call for directions.
I do take it when I go to midtown to the theatre. If there is a problem getting home I may call Anthony to tell him of the delay but otherwise it's off from the time I get to the theatre to the time I leave the theatre.
I HATE, HATE, HATE texts. I know it's the way most people communicate now but I also tell people not to text me. I will delete a text unread. I have a very low-end pay as you go phone with a number-based keyboard. Trying to send a text (even using ? r u?) is tedious and not worth the time AND every text eats up minutes in my pay as you go plan. I don't consider texting part of "my plan"
End of rant.
-
I liked it when you wanted to talk on the phone in public they gave you a special private quiet room to do so-- it was called a phone booth.
-
DR JMK - This is a standard pattern for Julie. I'm sure that after a couple of days, she'll eventually send me sort of brief apology via email or Twitter.
;D
. . .and some wires that were only used once by an old lady on Sunday matinees.
-
JR, we're having them replace that section with wood that's going the RIGHT DIRECTION, hence the added expense. But I think it's going to look faboo when it's done. You can't tell from that pic, but that room is huge. It's probably 20 x 18.
-
Off to the grantwriters' meeting. I'm hoping not to leave there today the same way I left last August's meeting - in an ambulance.
Bye for now!
-
TOD:
Mark and I don't use cell phones. I finally broke down and got the cheapest pay-as-you-go $20 phone about a year ago. I have to buy 30 minutes ($10) every 90 days to keep the number active, and I can't even seem to use that up. The minutes keep accummulating. Yes, that's right - I'm on a computer all day long - I have two at work, and two at home, but I almost never use a cell phone. I use my DVD burner regularly, and I have a DVR I couldn't live without, but I can't stand my phone. The reason I finally broke down and bought one was because I work in a tiny cubicle and there's absolutely no privacy. And it's very had to call my doctor and say words like "pap smear" and "mammogram" when everyone around me can hear, while everyone else steps outside the building to make their private calls on their cell phones. The problem is that pay phones are almost non-existent now. If there were still plenty of payphones arounds, there would be one in the lobby of my building, and I could use that. So, it's not that I latched onto a fad, but the world around me definitely changed. I finally had a situation where I really need to call my doctor about a personal "feminine" issue. I told the receptionist, "You can ask me all the 'yes' and 'no' questions you like, but I can't just blurt out my symptoms." She was really nice about it and asked all the right quesions, so I could make an appointment. I went home and yelled to Mark, "I can't stand this! I need a cell phone!" It was a sad day indeed.
-
But I don't mind other people using cell phones at all.
-
The Actors Equity Building (which Jose knows very well) used to have a bank of pay phones inside the waiting room and outside of the actual audition space. I don't remember when they were removed but it's been probably 5 years now. When asked Equity said that almost no one used them anymore and it was too expensive to keep paying monthly rent to Verizon for something most people didn't use. They didn't think it was worth it to keep even one phone in the inner sanctum and one outside for those who don't have cell phones.
They also floated an idea recently that seems to have gone nowhere. They wanted to test the waters regarding audition time slots (for those open calls which are heavily attended by actors without agents) and whether people with "smart phones" might want to sign up using an "app" I hope they received lots and lots of negative feedback because I think it's just not fair. Having a cell phone is one thing but having a smart phone with apps out the butt is another and it's grossly unfair to penalize lower-income (but just as talented) actors who cannot afford a $50 or more cell phone bill every month just for the privilege of being able to get on line anywhere at any time of the day or night. It may change in a few years but for now that idea seems to have gone nowhere.
-
TOD:
I have a cell phone but don't use it very often. It does come in handy at times, I must admit.
My cheap $10 cell phone kicked the bucket recently so I upgraded to a fancy one that gets internet and all that. It will be nice to have when travelling in LA and I need to locate a place or figure out where I am (it somehow shows a map of exactly where you are!). As JMK can attest, that will be quite helpful for me!
I do find it odd when I see a couple dining together and they are both sitting there texting or playing games on their phone. To each his own, I guess.
For the longest time I did not know how to text. With my new phone I have texted a couple of times. If I had one of these contraptions when I was a teenager I no doubt would have had it glued to myself just like teens of today do....as a kid I certainly spent a lot of time on the telephone, back in the day.
In Oregon it is against the law to talk on your cell phone while driving. As I stand on the street corner waiting for the light to change I will often count how many are on their phones...not very many...but before the law went into being, it was like every other car had the driver chatting on a phone.
-
The experience of people in an audience using their cell phones is not one that I have come across, fortunately. Perhaps Oregon audiences are a bit more polite about such things.
-
One advantage of having a cell phone is when I am waiting in an office for an appointment, or for my mom while she is at an appointment. Having the interent on my phone does keep me occupied after I have read all of the stale magazines in the office.
I don't like to talk on my cell phone in public though. I always feel a bit self concious.
-
Well, I guess that is enough about me and cell phones.
-
TOD:
Hate cell phones "in use" when people are walking/talking/driving. California has made it illegal to use handheld cell phones while driving, as well as texting. Does this really stop anyone? Huh-uh! The fines start at $250 for first offense, but you never see any police cars to enforce the law.
My cell phone is several years old...I pay as I go. It is extremely useful when you have a car breakdown. I can call AAA and feel safe/secure without bothering anyone else. If I'm on my way to an appointment when something happens, it allows me to call and explain my situation.
This has happened enough times to make it all worthwhile, but it's still out of the norm.
-
I have a cell phone, that I take with me when driving, but otherwise I do not use it. It is on my sister's plan so it is not very expensive.
I do not text, and rarely Twitter (from my computer).....but it's nice to have a way to call someone if there is an emergency - but NOT to tell them I am watching a movie in a theatre.
-
I find my cell phone very helpful at times -- like when I get a text that a family member is in the ER. Or has passed away. You know, times when they really DO need to get in touch with me.
-
Joshie is at the veterinary dentist. He will have all his teeth removed today. It is costing a whole lot more than the estimate the regular vet gave me.
-
It's nice to read others' comments here about not "living" with their cell phones, as I am certainly in that camp. Though I have been playing a lot of games on my handy, dandy new smart phone, which is considerably smarter than its owner. :)
-
We had a kind of spooky moment last night: we suddenly heard this weird screeching sort of noise, then a kind of banshee bark out in the wilderness, and realized the coyotes were howling at the moon. Strange, strange sound.
-
When Betsy was out cleaning up the dog run on Sunday, she looked over in the neighbors' yard and there plain as day was a young coyote just sitting there looking at her as if to say, "WTF are you doing in my space?"

I'm up after eight hours of sleep. Do you know the only time I ever have vocal problems are when I know I have to sing? It's all in my head and it happens every time - ridiculous. The only two times in the last decade where I have had laryngitis so bad that I had to go to the doctor were - wait for it - before both Guy Haines albums. Stupid.
-
Good Afternoon!
Greetings from Amtrak Train 125!
-It was delayed leaving Penn Station, but, thankfully, only by 10 minutes.

DR JRand - I shall pass on your message to Congress once I am back in the Nation's Capital.

If you use the #7 to delete the calls try 77 during the message. I do that for my house phone.

Thanks DR JOSE.....hopefully it will be reflected in my check about 12 months from now.

Michael, I've tried everything. A voice mail message cannot be deleted without listening to it. It's one of the quirks of my phone system.
-
DR George - Sorry to hear about your friend. I, too, hope that she was given some advance notice.
Thanks, Jose. I have just found out that, no, she wasn't given advance notice. She was told on Friday and was escorted out the door.
What's really interesting is that it was exactly four years ago this weekend (July 31, 2007) that my friend Margo's "position was eliminated" and she lost her job from here, also...and she wasn't given any advance notice, either. They told her and then walked her to her office to get her stuff and escorted her out. It seems like they always do it on a late Friday afternoon. :P
-
George - I wonder whether she at least got severance. vibes to your friend, no matter what.
Thanks, Fred. I don't think that she was. I'd heard that she was totally blindsided. Her position was "exempt," meaning not covered by the union (and our previous Staff Association) contract.

I just ran into this yesterday for the first time with our new Comcast voicemail. The only thing I figured out is that pressing 3 fast forwarded me through the (very long) message, probably about 10 seconds at a time. I think maybe pressing 33 gets you right to the end of the message.
-
Joshie is out of surgery and is quite high.

I was told this via cell phone, by the way.

I now have a very handsome silver siamese teenage kitten who will be staying with me through his course of antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection.

It would be kind of fun to have Guy Haines and Bruce Kimmel sing a duet.
-
Back from the grantwriters' meeting. The longer I'm retired the less relevant and interesting these things become.
-
So true DR GINNY....
-
Joshie got no teef!

It's been a long day, but mostly an enjoyable one. I had a great 4-hr visit wth the Kurt Weill Foundation; I looked at the full scores, programs, piano sketches for KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY and visited with Dave Stein, the archivist, and Elmar Jochem, who's editing the new edition of JOHNNY JOHNSON.
After that I stopped by Toyland to pick up our record producer's full scores, stopped by Rodgers & Hammerstein to see Bruce Pomahac, came home and made the bank deposit I stupidly forgot to do yesterday. Damn!

Any Info On My Film Noir Question??

Back from the four-mile jog. Broiling out. About three blocks from the home environment on my way back a guy said I deserved a medal of honor.

I do all Guy's scratch vocals.

Totally confused by Kickstarter when it comes to CD releases. if someone puts money towards, say, Michael Arden's CD, is it a gift to Michael Arden - or do they get the money back, if the CD pays off and is a hit?

Coincidence: I once prepared for a colonoscopy and came up empty.
(Just kidding.)

Good Afternoon!
Greetings from Washington, DC. -More precisely: Greenroom B of Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater.
:)
-
The train ride down was uneventful. Alas, I don't think the A/C helped my more-than-likely summer cold. Ah, well. I stopped at CVS and picked up some OTC stuff. Hopefully, this won't linger too long.
-
I splurged on a cab from DC's Union Station to the theatre - if you can call an $8 fare a splurge. -It would have cost me $3.10 on the Metro and a transfer and about 25 minutes of transit time, as opposed to a nice 10-minute ride from door to door. In any case...
I have to say that even though the DC taxicab commission always seems to be in a constant state of turmoil and scandal, the cab drivers have really been pretty amazing lately. The one who just drove me actually knew where Arena Stage was, and even asked me which route I thought would have the least amount of traffic at 3:30 in the afternoon (the start of rush hour). We both guessed right. :)
-

It's basically money used to defray the costs of recording the CD. By contributing via Kickstarter, you do not become a "producer", and are thus not entitled to any possible royalties.
-
At least that's my understanding of it.

Am I imagining it, or do D.C. cab drivers seem more relaxed about traffic since it's no longer a flat fee depending on the travel between different zones, or whatever they were called?

Although that whole Zone System had the potential to be bad for both the driver and the passenger. There were places in the city where one side of the street was one zone, and the other side of the street was another. For an unsuspecting passenger, they could have been charged extra unknowingly(?). Conversely, if the passenger did realize what Zone he was being dropped off in, he could then ask the cabbie to drop him off on the other side of the street in order to avoid the additional surcharge. Way too many U-turns during rush hour.

He should have benefits.
For example: You "pledge" $50 and you might get 2 CDS before they are released to the public.
Of course if his goal is not met then you don't pay The $50.
-
Sneezy for now, Jose.
-
Kickstarter donations are a gift. You do get a "reward" depending on who's looking for money and for what purpose. I'm sure that FJL looked at the Nudie Musical Kickstarter project and saw that there were different rewards for different donation tiers.

Of course, I could be wrong - perhaps FJL didn't look at it?

When we're employed again, we'll see if we can get back to the old world.

So do the Kickstarter people take a cut? How do they make their money?

So do the Kickstarter people take a cut? How do they make their money?
They charge you $20 to take you back to the terminal.
That, my friends, is a DOUBLE callback. ;)
-
Perhaps even a triple.
-
Finally ordered Perfect Hermany--looking forward to it!

Employed or not, there's no harm in looking at a page, is there? There was lots of interesting stuff there, with clips, updates and all sorts of things. You also would have known what sort of "rewards" were being offered. So, no, I don't really understand why you wouldn't have been curious to even see the page, but that's just me.
And yes, Kickstarter and amazon (which is where the money goes) both take a cut, approximately 5% in all. So, I didn't get the full amount pledged, I got about 4760.
-
BK--I watched the Jack Benny Show you mentioned yesterday. Enjoyed it very much! I kind of remembered his duet with Giselle MacKenzie, which was talked about, so I looked for that on youtube and watched that too! There was no one like Jack!

If they took 5%, you should have gotten over $4900.

Was the Benny show taped at Television City?

Re cell phones--I'm allowed 450 minutes a month and use less than 100 minutes most months. But...when I'm travelling, I do find it very useful to have the phone.
-
Topic of the Day:
I only have a cell phone. I gave up my land line several years ago. I have a bluetooth earphone for when I'm driving (don't hate me ;)) and I find it no more distracting than speaking with someone sitting next to me. All I have to do when I get a call is push one button on the earpiece and speak. Even though I have my phone on most of the time, I always turn it off when I go to the movies or a live show, ESPECIALLY when I'm ushering. It's become a habit to turn it off or at lease set the ringer to vibrate. It very muchly bothers me when people are using their phones in any capacity at the movies or in a theater.
One time I was ushering for a local show (friends of mine were in the cast) and a cell phone went off in the row right in front of me! The person quickly tried to turn it off (certainly not quickly enough) and it turned out that he was the husband of one of the actresses in the show! He should've known better! >:(
-
Well, I knew I couldn't contribute to this project right now.
-
I was told this via cell phone, by the way.
:)
-
I have a blackberry, It's very important for me to have it for work. I get my email on it. I don't carry it with me all the time when I"m off work. I really don't like texts, but have a few people who will only respond to texts. I do talk and drive. From the office to my house etc. I can do bluetooth through my car and usually do.
I find my cell phone really handy when I need something for the cats, or something done around the house etc. It's about the only way I can have a way to contact clients when I do things like go to Omaha and they are coming to Omaha for court. I like it.
-
Today I had a cancellation of removal hearing in Omaha. We win my client gets a green card. We lose, after 18 years in the US she would be deported to Guatemala. We won.

Great news, Cillaliz. Congratulations.

Thanks George. She needed to ride with me to court. She was nervous and talked for over 2 hours to get there, testified for 2 hours then was so excited she talked for over 2 hours on the way home.
-
Thanks Laura. They judge actually said it was a close call. Whew!

I now must leave. Theater Artists Olympia is having our monthly board meeting and since I'm on the board (officer at large), I will be at the meeting...now that I know about it. Last month, I never got the e-mail about the board meeting.
Be back later!

T.O.D.
You should not get me started on people and their cell phones. A couple of years ago, Washington State made it illegal to talk or text while driving. But you could only be ticketed if you were stopped for another reason. so, of course, there was absolutely no change in people's phone habits while driving. This past year they changed the law, so that you could be stopped and ticketed for talking or texting while driving. AND IT STILL HASN'T HAD ANY EFFECT ON PEOPLE. At least half of the drivers I see around town are still talking and texting; as if the law applies to everyone but them.
And the total rudeness of people in stores and banks, who treat the clerks like they are ATM machines. They keep chatting or screaming or whatever as if there was no one waiting on them. Most of them can't say anything, but I have started to speak up. Last week I told a man in front of me in line that he was being extremely rude to the clerk. I don't think he even knew I was talking to him, because he kept on talking.

Stupid.
Did you do some singing on Guy Haines' CDs?

Oh, did Guy Haines let you sing on his albums?
Very rare video of Guy Haines singing

I tried various searches and came up empty.
Coincidence: I once prepared for a colonoscopy and came up empty.
(Just kidding.)

I find having a cell phone invaluable - with two elderly parents , two elderly inlaws, Vixdad commuting to and from Brooklyn and the Vixter flitting here and there it has been our way of keeping track of each other and yes I will get a call that says I just "I just got on the train" or "I just left mt friend's house" and then I know when to expect them home
I no longer give out my home number as my home number - if someone needs to reach me they call my cell phone - I turn it off when I go to dinner, or church or the theatre
Last year as I was waiting in line to ride roller coaster in New Jersey I received sa cell phone call that my Mom had a seizure and was in the hospital
when the church van full of kids broke down on the way home from a trip my cell phone called AAA
and when I unexpectedly ended up in NYC one evening my cell phone netted me a lovely visit with Ben and Anthony
Yes some people have appalling manners - but lets not blame the cell phones - those mannerless clods would found some other way to be rude if they didn't have cellphones
-
TOD - I've had a mobile phone since 1994, when I got my first job with a long commute. It was big and clunky and resided in a bag under the passenger seat of my car for emergencies only. Except, I used it so seldom that in an emergency I wasted time reading the directions and connecting it to my car's cigarette lighter. As the phones have gotten smaller, I've used my cell more and more and probably will not have a land line if we ever move from this house.
Texting became invaluable to us 2 years ago when Richard's brother was so sick. We'd keep in touch with his wife and daughter, but not have to interrupt their time with him with conversations. I don't text much because my phone doesn't have a QWERTY keyboard so it's kind of a pain.
The most annoying thing I do with my cell phone is make Ohio State fans hear my ringtone - "Hail to the Victors."

I have on idea what you are talking about, George!
-
That said one day at church I was sitting in the 2nd pew directly in front of the pulpit and during the sermon (right during one of those long meaningful pauses) my cell phone went off- it was of course buried in the bottom of my purse and sang atteh top of its voice for what seemed ages ....
I was sure I had turned it off and was horribly embarrassed - so I always cut someone slack when they get a call in an inappropriate location-
however should they ANSWER the call - should they have the conversation
(Unless of course the words 'Was anyone hurt? Which ER are they in? You got me a liver?! are uttered)
then I will be peeved and have been known to instruct people to put their phones away
-
G'night!

-
I am not a texter - but we did get texting capable phones thos Christmas as an especial treat for the Vixter - she texts me at work now which is actually quite useful - she is bicycling back and forth from church every day - and it beings me comfort to get a text "at church safe" "Home safe" without getting numerous personal calls at the office - it takes 10 sends for me to see that text (the phone is on vibrate) and brings me peace of mind
-
Good night Tommy sweet dreams!!!

Thanks JRand and FJL. It was one of those cases where my client seemed so sure we were going to win and I wasn't quite as sure as she was. It was a relief to have this one behind me
-
I do agree that people on cell phones can be annoying and disruptive. I also agree with Vixmom. I cut slack if you turn it right off, if you talk in an inapproprite place, I think that's just wrong.
-
Good news! I just received this exciting new job offer:
"Good day! The Aulogistic Inc is pleased to offer you a well-paid work.
We have reviewed your personal information, and make a design - you are the right person to become our employee.
Please kindly send your respond."
I had indeed been hoping for a well paid work - I am so happy they made the design to hire me --- I will of course immediately send out my respond

It's been a long day. Tomorrow morning I'm getting my AC serviced. I bought a service contract from Edith's husband who works for a local HVAC place. If you have a service contract, they don't charge emergency fees if they have to come out in the middle of the night in the winter..
-
He'll be here around 8:00 AM, so I need to be up and ready by then. Night
-
Well, I knew I couldn't contribute to this project right now.
But why not look anyway? A lot of people didn't contribute but had nice things to say about the footage and the way it was working.
-
Back from some dinner. Rehearsal was mostly great today. One performer was not on their game because I think this performer has a "process." In these shows, I'm really not interested in processes or deep acting - I'm interested in good singers letting the song do its job and them do theirs. When you start adding a bunch of sturm und drang on top of all that, a) it's oppressive, b) our audiences don't respond to it, and c) it's not in step with the other performers are doing.
So, after we were done, I had the performer stay and we talked at length about it and the performer was very understanding and got what I was saying right away and then did the three songs again and it was a thousand percent better. Hopefully, that will retain until the show.
-
I forgot to stop at the bank, so I must go out again.

I wish I only had one phone, but if I drop the landline, then I will have slower internet service. And for classes and the website, it's slow enough as it is. Tonight, it cut off in the middle of a story and caused a 20-minute delay. Agh.
-
I'm much like Druxy.
Bless you for that rant. I HATE, HATE, HATE text messages, too. If I receive one, I just ignore it.
-
Night, all.
-
Good Evening!
We had a very good show, and a very good audience. -And on a Tuesday night too! It was a very nice way to start the week.
-
And since a number of people celebrate their birthdays in August - myself included - there was a cake and candles in the green room at the 15-minute call.
:)
-
And...
I'm exhausted.
I shall catch up and post in the morning.
Goodnight.
-
Sam hasn't been here for days. Perhaps she's had a relapse and is with the bad boy again. If true, not healthy.
-
Oh, and I got a nice e-mail from the fellow who's overseeing the authoring of the blu-ray saying he thought the restoration looked "amazing." Since he's the first to see it, that made me very happy.
