Good morning, all! It was a hellish night for sleep. I went to bed at 10, tossed until 11, and then the rad construction began on West 82nd Street: first a streetcleaner or something like it noisily and slowly made its way east from Broadway; following that, there was more noisefrom repair work late into the night. Iwas out of bed by six, but I suspect I'll be crashing around 9 pm tonight.

I may have to make an emergency trip to my health insurance offices this morning, because in the past 10 business days, my check hasn;t arrived in the post and my second check, sent by priority US post, is sitting in some PO box waiting for the tardy asses to pick up their mail: they've got $1700+ of mine held hostage and they're threatening to close my account if I don't pay them $800+ dollars today. If I cancel one of the ckecks, the bank wll charge me $25, which I loathe, so all I can do is call around 8 am and see what can be done or I will need to schlep to Water Street and walk a half a mile to their offices. Either way, I'm really pissed that their mail collection is so pathetic and slow. I remember years ago when one of my payments reached them in 3-4 gays and then bounced because I had posted it before I had made the expected deposit in my checking account. Fuckem.

Beyond that, I have few plans for the day. Perhaps the NYPL.

TOD:
   DVD: the Netflix items sit here as well as a few new purchases; I have to finish TESS OF THE D'URBERVILLES
   CD: lots of Irish singers up for roles in EILEEN, KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY, Liz Callaway, Guy Haines
   VCR: three guesses

Did someone at their office tell you that they haven't collected their mail yet? If so, well...

Otherwise, since you're sending money to a P.O. Box, I'd pay the extra 35(?) cents for Delivery Confirmation. Since it is going from Post Office to Post Office, that would give you some real proof that your payment was sent and received on time.

Saw in the news that American Express, while charging FIFTEEN PERCENT interest on card balances in this economy to people drowning in debt, is turning around with that very income and donating $1-million to historic grants in Minneapolis - St. Paul.  Something about that feels wrong, can't quite put my finger on it, but....

Minneapolis always makes a great chance to parody the Mary Tyler Moore Show theme

I am back from the schlep to Water Street. A lovely young lady helped me, but this mess is ridiculous for a company so supposedly on top of things. The young lady I spoke to seemed to think the PO Box I used for an address with the damned delivery confirmation is the insurance company's mailroom, but no priority mail envelope showed up. This entire situation is pathetic. With my luck, all three checks will clear tonight and I'll be short the $800+ I could use for the Dublin trip. I am not happy.

Well, damnation! I have to make the schlep to Water Street because the asses at Health Plan of New York have not processed my check of July 22 and the check of August 3 is sitting somewhere in priority mail limbo because they haven't visited their post box. Color me really pissed. So I have to given them a third check today. To add insult to injury my bank is charging me $30 to stop payment. God damn them all to hell.

~~~FINANCIAL VIBES FOR DR ELMORE!!~~~
Well we have had six people commit and the QUIT our stage crew.....we are down to two - and so I have to make some set changing assignments to the cast.....
I do not think they will mind, but it's not my favorite thing to do.
I've done so many shows where the actors are choreographed to move sets and pieces off and on that it's almost strange for me when I don't have to do it.
Funny little day.  I really got sick to my stomach after paying the obscene number of bills.  Then the Pool Man arrived and has been here ever since installing a whole new electronic system for the pool and Jacuzzi since the other was kaput.  So, I did the four-mile jog, ate a bacon cheeseburger and no fries or onion rings, and have been doing some work on our next release.
Well folks I am off to Canada for 10 days.
The first stop will be Toronto. I haven't been there in 8 years and looking forward to seeing old friends I haven't seen in over 15 years. People I went to school with. People I acted with. People I co-wrote a play with and directed him in it.
Then it is off to Montreal and one last night in the family home that we had for over 30 years. The house has been sold and my parents are moving into a new condo in classic Victorian building.
So I am not sure when I will be able to post. I don't know if the B & B has wireless. I am sure the internet will be down when I get to Montreal and the move wll be over the course of two days.
DR Laura, if you took me to a dentist and I woke up with all of my teeth gone, I'd be pissed too1
Me too, Elmore. But his mouth was badly infected. Now it will all heal. Most cats end up being put down for stomatitis. I just have to get Joshie to understand that.
read him this:
Quote
Mild cases of stomatitis may respond to medication with prednisone, cyclosporine, or other drugs that modify the response of the immune system.
For the majority of cases, the most effective treatment is extraction of multiple teeth.  In some cases, all of the teeth in the mouth are removed.  This procedure is called full mouth extraction.
Although the concept of full mouth extraction sounds very unattractive, most stomatitis-afflicted cats benefit tremendously from the procedure.   These cats are unable to use their teeth because of the syndrome, and removing the teeth eliminates the source of pain in their mouth.
During the initial recovery from full mouth extraction, most cats require painkillers and antibiotics such as clindamycin or penicillins.  Once they have healed from the procedure, a large proportion of cats will suffer no inflammation or very low levels of inflammation in their mouths.  For this group of cats, full mouth extraction cures stomatitis.
Many owners notice a marked improvement in their cat's activity and affection levels after successful treatment.  Owners should be aware that appetite may increase dramatically if the syndrome is successfully managed.   Some cats that undergo full mouth extraction gain significant amounts of weight, and may be at risk for obesity.
Laura, zucchini are one of the few veggies to have survived so far. I didn't plant any this year, but I've got eggplant and plenty of peppers (10 on one plant), only because I have forced myself to water them every night. One missed night or morning and they're all dead.
Yup, Cillaliz. And we had a specialist do it. He gave me such a detailed report of everything. He went far beyond simply extracting the teeth. He checked all the underlying tissues and whatnot under the gums.
