Good morning, all! I'm settling into my "ohmigod Dublin!" mode, since I hate long flights and this one's nearly seven hours long. I'm hoping that today we get good news on possiblities for our lead.

This morning, I will stop by Toyland to check out the office before I go away for two weeks, and then I will see my barber. I'll meet Joshie at City Center after that, grab some lunch and catch up on gossip. Tonight I have to attend a workshop of a new musical about the twelve disciples, and I'm wishing I hadn't agreed to go.

That's my day.

Only one serious light cue problem last night in rehearsal......first soloist comes on and starts singing.....DARK.....second soloist comes on and starts singing....STILL DARK.....ensemble comes on singing...STILL DARK.

I know exactly what happened, but I am giving Sandi the benefit of the doubt.....finally I say....."they're singing turn on the lights"......

"Well my script says wait until the window goes up..."   The castle window was still down.....who WOULDN'T bring up the lights anyway when the cast starts singing?  Who cares if we can see the window behind them?

Sometimes theatre is an exercise in futility, humiliation.....and NO COMMON SENSE.

You said the other day that you were having problems accessing old BK's note. It was a little confusing for me in your explanation and DR Jose's So please excuse me if this is the way that you tried or this is what Jose suggested.

When you go to the splash page (haineshisway.com)

You look to the left of the daily BK Notes and under the Unseemly Linkage there is one for "Column Archives" you click on the link and it will come up with list of notes going back to October 19, 2003: "GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS.

If this is not happening for perhaps you need to clean your cache.

You made a list of foods from the Oklahoma pot luck

What are Hoe Cakes?

DR Michael S - Hoe Cakes are basically a type of biscuit.  They derived their name from how they were originally cooked. Since they didn't have baking pans and skillets out on the prairie, they would cook them over an open flame/fire on the back of a (garden) hoe.

We both had a frozen margarita and now I'm tipsy and ready for a nap. Joshie has lost weight and looks really good. He gets around: this weekend he's off to Toronto. I wish I had his energy.

I got a call from the shelter asking if I wanted my kittens back. They are sick. So Feathers and Shades are back home, along with Kim. Ten days of meds. And Sneezy was also seen by the vet and given meds, even though he is almost over it on his own. While I was there picking them up, a woman came in saying that she had adopted an orange tabby (Sunshine) who was so lonely that she came back to adopt a sibling. So she made arrangements to adopt Purrcy, although I left with the others before the paperwork was done. The now named Princess Fiona is sneezing, so she didn't think it would be a problems to take Purrcy and treat them both. (Shanti and Mink had been adopted earlier).

And that's what I did today.

DR Jane - what book are you discussing today?

Iron & Silk by Mark Salzman.  The hostess went with a Chinese theme for our treats & having been to China presented the goodies on lovely settings from China.  She had beautiful chop sticks from there as well, far too pretty to use.

We watched the movie first which I was sorry to leave as Keith was picking me up on time & the movie ran late.  There were some comments comparing the two during the movie but I missed the after discussion.  Mark Salzman stars as himself which I enjoyed, especially watching him do martial arts.

DR TCB, I would have wanted to punch that driver (who wouldn't move his car). What an idiot to think he should block you for 6 minutes. It made me mad just reading about it.

If I had been able to walk, I would have gotten out of my car, walked over to the card reader, scanned in my card, and then gone back to my car.  But since that wasn't possible, I had to just sit there and be angry. (Don't make me angry.  You wouldn't like me when I am angry.)

DR Cillaliz, re: BB, I think many people dislike Rachel. For some reason I always liked her. I think it's because she is so competitive and i seem to gravitate towards those kind of competitors.

Ah... yes, you have always gone for the competitive sorts on all the shows.  I'm not really sure who I want to win.  I haven't watched every episode

I've been on the phone since 5 pm with questions from the recording producer, collecting and sending her an email with youtube clips of our cast so far, and then an hour discussion with the man holding the checkbook. I think we've found our heroine, depending on scheduling, and we lost a recording day which worries me.

I also broke down today and stopped payment on that check I sent via priority mail last Wednesday to my HMO. Priority mail said it should be delivered by next day, and it has not yet been picked up by anyone, according to the delivery confirmation. This is the third check I've mailed to this moronic company this year tha has never reached them. I'm beginning to suspect they have fools in their mailroom or a crooked mail carrier who's leaving ples of undelivwered mail in landfills around Manhattan.

A Special Day
Cinema Paradiso
La Dolce Vita
Johnny Toothpick
Sergio Leone's Westerns

And there was a Fellini film that took place mostly at Cinecitta with Marcello M. (I think playing himself) and there is a scene where the go visit Anita Ekberg who now longer looks like she did in La Dolce Vita

and I am sure there other that just don't come to find at the moment
That was Intervista, one of my top three Fellini films.

DR JOSE

You made a list of foods from the Oklahoma pot luck

What are Hoe Cakes?

DR Michael S - Hoe Cakes are basically a type of biscuit.  They derived their name from how they were originally cooked. Since they didn't have baking pans and skillets out on the prairie, they would cook them over an open flame/fire on the back of a (garden) hoe.
And to think they have a whole new meaning today. Oh, I was thinking of ho cakes.

JohnG, Miss Frances Farmer was originally announced to be Bing's co-star in WAIKIKI WEDDING after their RHYTHM ON THE RANGE was such a smash.  But then she decided she wanted to do theatah.  :)
I also watched "Double or Nothing," another Bing with Martha Raye. I'm enjoying these more than I thought, and at $5 for a five-movie set, it was definitely worth the investment.

I am back from the barber and a lovelier than lovely luncheon with Joshie. We went to the Mexican place on 9th and 54th Street, a nice place where I once had dinner with DR Ginny and Richard. We both had a frozen margarita and now I'm tipsy and ready for a nap. Joshie has lost weight and looks really good. He gets around: this weekend he's off to Toronto. I wish I had his energy.

He spent last week in a hellish workshop with the conductor who crashed and burned in St Louis. I could have warned him, but sometimes you have to work with someone to learn he's a total ass.

DR elmore - Did you and Joshie dine at El Centro? -That's one of my favorite Mexican places in the city. Their chilaquiles are quite delicious, filling and a relative bargain. And, yes, their frozen margs can pack quite the punch.
