Well, you've read the notes, the notes were equally sure you read them, and now it is time for you to post until the equally sure cows come home.

And the word of the day is: NEBULIZE!
-
Good morning.

Last night DR John G daid:
Played pinochle tonight. It was fun to sit back and talk without having to think about anything but trump for a while.
Trump as in Donald Trump?
-
Sunday morning greetings! The big day is finally here and things are pretty calm - so far...
-
I hope everything goes well, Ginny!

Morning all.
That is all.

I was wondering if anyone would ask that. Nope. I was playing with several people who are as forgetful as I am and we kept having to ask what we should be playing.

Thank you, DRs JRand and Jose!

Hmmmmmmmmmm Amazon.com has all of the seasons of Supernatural on sale......I just started watching the show a few months ago, and it's really very good. I like Jenson and Jared and all of the supporting cast. It is sort of a Buffy meets X Files - but even more fun.....if you are interested in that sort of thing, you might give it a look on the CW on Fridays.
http://www.cwtv.com/shows/supernatural

And...
I need to head in a bit early to take care of some work - a.k.a. copying - before the show, so...
Laters...

Signing off now to get ready. I'll be back when I'm a mother-in-law!

BK,
Anthony Mann is one of my favorite directors.
I was not aware that MEN IN WAR was available on DVD.
Is the DVD really that bad? Not worth getting?
-
Have fun everyone!
Yesterday Cheyenne Jackson and his partner Monte Lapka were married in N.Y.
-
Good morning, all! I was up too late watching a DVD so I slept in this morning.
Last night I watched a curious DVD I found on the French Amazon site, and there's a little backstory here: in 1958 the Madeleine Renaud/Jean-Louis Barrault Company, after doing classic plays and contemporary works by Gide, Genet, and others, decided for a lark to do a musical comedy. They chose Offenbach's La Vie Parisienne, which is most often performed today by opera companies, but which was written for a vaudeville company of comedians whose singing talent was so limited that Offenbach asked them to import a legit soprano for a major role. Conductor Andre Girard revised the original score to accommodate the Renaud-Barrault pit for 18 players, a legit singer-actress Suzy Delair was brought in to play the courtesan Metella, and the production was a huge hit. It toured everywhere, including Manhattan where it played in rep with Beaumarchais' MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, and I discovered in the Libraire de France at Rockefeller Center the wonderful, highly theatrical but rather poorly sung recording of the production on my first trip to New York in 1966. It was a heavily cut but nearly complete recording of the score; I've always loved its vitality, and Suzy Delair is fantastic, the best Metella ever.
In 1967, 9 years after the piece was first produced, French television broadcast the production with most of the original men - Pierre Bertin, Jean Desailly, Jean-Pierre Granval, Jean Paredes, Regis Outin - and Micheline Dax, replacing Madeleine Renaud as the Baroness, joins original cast members Simone Valere, and Denise Benoit. Georges Aminel replaced Barrault in the role of the Brazilian; I suppose he figured he would photograph too old for the part.
This broadcast is now on DVD, so I finally had a chance to see it, and it's amazing: highly theatrical, quite farcical, and very funny. Comparing ths with the Opera Lyon production from about twenty years ago, my first reaction was why can no one stage a period musical these days? The Opera Lyon production is as funny as a funeral - I haven't seen the latest opera production which updates the piece to the 22nd Century - and the Renaud/Barrault production is outrageous: the comedians are grotesques in funny disguises, outrageous wigs and costumes, and over-the-top behavior. The production follows the original 1866 casting with Jean Paredes playing the bootmaker Frick in Act Two, the butler Prosper in Act Three, and the Cafe Anglais headwaiter Alfred in Act Four. He's quite funny in all three roles.
The only disadvantage is that Desailly and Granval are nine years older than when they first played the roles, so the two young men-about-town who get the plot rolling over their treatment by Metella - proverbial whore who turns out to have aheart of gold - are now rather middle-aged men-about-town, but Desailly is charming and Granval very funny.
That was my evening; I now have Jacques Offenbach dancing in my head, so I may listen to the CD of the Compagnie Renaud-Barrault production later.
More coffee!

My parents are coming over today to celebrate my dad's 91st birthday (which will be on Wednesday, but I think we're celebrating all week :) )

Happy Birthday to DR FJL's dad!

Greetings from Buffalo (well, West Seneca, to be exact)! Contrary to speculation on this here forum, Mr. Barrett is not in the vicinity. According to his facebook page, he's on his way to Chicago to prepare for his role as Ben in Follies.
-
Best wishes for DR Ginny and her family!

I'm here for the Chicken Wing Festival! Well, not really, since I'm a vegetarian.
Just visiting my siblings, nieces and nephews (not to mention their assorted dogs!)

Anthony is shaving and I'm having a second cup of coffee and I'm listening to the BBC Radio Tees (Songs for the Shows). We will be heading out to Astoria later today for a Greek dinner.

Slept till after 7 this morning, don't think i will have any more triple shots of espresso at 9:30 at night on my walk, somehow i was still wide awake at 1:30 in the morning, and then again at 3:55. Don't figure.

Good vibes for everyone today. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

from Jennifer:
I feel so bad for your friend. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With all she is going through she attempted, along with her daughter, to go help an area worse off than she is. The downed electric poles forced her back. She has been helping with efforts to collect clothing & other necessities for them before the next round of rain. I honestly don't know how she is physically up to it.
-
Yesterday afternoon the internet went out for the entire area, at least those on DSL.
-
Going for music at Bernadette's at 3:00. Also giving her a copy of Scent of Mystery. It's still just one of my favorite cd's. Listen to it all the time. She's just one of the nicest people ever, and her place is just great, a sort of indoor/outdoor English sports pub with live music.

Catch you later.

Oh yea, how does bk have the energy (forget about the time) but the energy to do all the things he does.

Have a fun weekend with your family Kevin!

Happiest of happies to FJL's dad.

Went to a different Borders today and found a rarity: A recording of Duke Ellington's "Queenie Pie" as presented by the University of Texas-Austin. Didn't even know the show had been recorded. Really looking forward to listening to it.
Also bought a Robert Viagas book on theater stars (for the pictures mostly), a Werner Herzog documentary and Richard Wilbur's translation of "The Misanthrope," which I haven't read since high school. I hope I can make time for these.
td, I'm sorry for your sake about Borders.
-
Keith is sitting on the deck using his laptop. Every once in awhile he disturbs our peace by blasting the air horn to frighten away a couple of Acorn Woodpeckers keep pecking at our wood chimney. I was thinking of sitting outside with him while I read my ebook. I think I will go to the living room which is farther away from Keith & his air horn.

I wonder if Ginny has any photos of her daughter-in-law?
-
Speaking of needing some R&R (BK, Jose), boy, do I ever need more sleep! The noisy young couple next door to me quieted down last night at 11:00--I think they went out, actually. I took something to help me sleep, and was GONE. Deep sleep. Just before 2:00 they returned and made no end of noise. Just voices, but loud ones. I woke up and it was many hours before I was able to go back to sleep. Ugh! I am barely functional today.
I have been hesitant to complain again to the manager, but today it became them or me. The manager was sympathetic and promised to speak to them again. I'm a "live and let live" sort of person, but we all have limits. I've reached mine.
And I'm really looking forward to the CDs Jrand recommends. I've tried just about everything else.
End of rant.
-
I wonder if Ginny has any photos of her daughter-in-law?
If she doesn't now, I'm sure she will soon have many.
-
TTFN.
-
Just up from an afternoon nap. It was supposed to be about 20 minutes. Instead it was 2 1/2 hours. Guess I needed it as much as Jeanne.
-
I got so caught up in proofing this morning that I forgot to post. I'm up.
-
I proofed, then discussed minor fixes with designer, after which I did the four-mile jog.
-
Then I had some matzo brei for lunch.
-
I also weighed myself and this round of weight loss has been the slowest and most difficult ever. Yes, I lost three more pounds and am now in my 170s but three pounds in almost two weeks is ridiculous. I'm stepping it up, baby.
-
And the word of the day is: NEBULIZE!

Well, this is pathetic!

I've been avoiding issues for the past two hours.

I cannot believe it's nearly 9pm on the East Coast.

I'll aim for Page Four.

Or until this bores me to death.

I've been reading the Victor Herbert Newsletter.

And I've been sent the New World Records Guidelines for liner notes.
I guess I'll begin those tomorrow.

Not to dampen things, but if the woodpeckers are pecking at your chimney, there are probably ants or termites or something in the wood they are trying to get.

Last night's pot luck was fun but went way too late and I may have had an adult beverage or two more than I should have, but after getting up showering, eating breakfast and going back to bed for a few hours, I felt great and went to Art Splash, our annual art festival. It was free to get in this year. I bought a great batik wall hanging, listened to Tonic Sol Fa, bought a couple other cat related art items, had a ribeye sandwich and came home.
-
The weather was beautiful!!! In the 70s, air was dry, sunny skies and about 15 mph wind. Great day

Many years ago, when state employees were still allowed to have "Christmas" Lunches in December; I once had a Secret Santa. It was kind of fun, but you always wondered who your Secret Santa might have been.
Yesterday, I received an envelope in the mail with no return address and no writing inside. However there was a very generous and very much appreciated gift inside. I am extremely grateful to whoever may have sent me this envelope, and I want to offer my sincere thanks and a special prayer to whoever this September Santa might be.
-
Tonight is going to be in the 40s - I have the windows open now, but am already feeling that I should start closing some of them
-
Boo got out today. I was doing some things with the door open and didn't see it happen. I had a funny feeling that I hadn't seen her and started calling for her. I heard the most panicked MEOW coming from somewhere and found her outside the front door wanting in. she got a bit frightened when I went outside, but let me pick her up and she seems really glad to be inside. I'm just glad she came back to the front door.

I should add Boo was only outside about 10-15 minutes, but other than once when she got into the garage, she hasn't been outside in about 3-4 years!
-
I should think we'd better get off this damn page VERY soon.
-
Finished watching one motion picture and may go for another.
-
Let me see if I get this correct.
Congratulations to the groom, Rob!
Best wishes to the bride, Mary Linda!
Did I get that correct?

Did you report how well this next production is going?

"Queenie Pie" is proving to be a lot of fun. Plus, the orchestra has a great sound.
-
Question for Jose:
Since they have posted the closing of OKLAHOMA; does that mean there is no chance of a move to Broadway?

I hate that feeling, when you can't find the animal. Glad Boo is back.

I'm glad you found Boo. Joshie loves to go outside, but I always feel better when he is safe in the house.

Happy 91st Birthday to FJL's Dear Father!

The drip system at the church is not working correctly. We are losing plants. I spent over an hour hand watering some of the ones I particularly don't want to lose. I wish it would rain.

Amen to that. I have been watering my plants but it's been too hot this week and the mint, in particular, has just about burned up.
-
Stuff that should be blooming like crazy is dying. I hauled a lot of buckets this afternoon. It is only 108 today, but it didn't take long before I started feeling sick.

It was only 103 here today. But it's been at that rate if not higher for more than a week solid. Last weekend, it topped 110 for three days in a row.

Page five!

How are you feeling today, TCB?
-
I'm glad you found Boo. Joshie loves to go outside, but I always feel better when he is safe in the house.
Of all my cats, she is the most likely to get out, but she also was a stray, so she is the one who knows her way back. I'm just glad I didn't really believe she was outside until I found her at the front door.
-
How are you feeling today, TCB?
Okay. Very tired, but okay.

Thanks John G and Laura. She's sticking a little closer to me than she usually does. I think she really wants out until she gets there, then she wants right back in, lol. It's a scary world out there.
-
It is has been very strange here today. The phone did not ring once. Not even a bill collector.

The holiday. And it's too darn hot, as Mr. Porter would say.

I call that a good day, TCB.

I am glad that Boo stayed close. Nicky has not tried to get out in the hall since I closed the door on him one day. I opened it back only a few seconds later, but Nick was taking no chances of it closing again and raced in the door.

Did elmore head off to bed? Or is he finally catching up on all that porn?

Well, TCB, I guess it worked if it is keeping Nicky inside without complaint.

Thanks TCB. I do feel a little less worried since they all have microchips, but I worry about them being frightened, getting lost or hurt

No I did not mention the current production since there are half a dozen other board members working on it.
AND to top it off, I am listed to be in costume for the Photo Call for the newspaper.....yikes!
-
I would like to be in my 170's.......I would have a whole new wardrobe.
Now I think I will watch some dvd's.

DR JEANNE the cd's should arrive SOMETIME this week - courtesy of the US Post Office.
However I did correct the spelling of the clerk who waited on me, so I am just hoping that she put your envelope in the right OUT bag.

108 is too darn hot. :'(

Trying to just relax but stuff keeps intruding.
-
Can I get down to 115 lbs by the 17th ? Have been invited to supposedly the hotest club in Santa Monica, a dress to kill club.
Did I just say that, somehow I forgot how old I was. :-[
-
Well, I suppose it's ok to dream. ;D
-
I got myself in deep trouble with $ this last month. It took going to payday advance, the pawn shop, and selling something I inhereted from my dad to bail myself out. Trying to be extra careful about $. Hope this is one lesson I learn.
-
On a more positive note, tomorrow is a no work day. Trying to lay in the sun, go put my feet in the water at the beach, practice riding a bicycle, and go to the gym. After the 7am meeting and breakfast that is.
If I'm really really really lucky, might have a new guy to hang out with. ;)
-
Night everyone.
Sweet dreams.
Mega vibes.
Mega vibes again.

I wonder if Ginny was too exhaisted to even check-in after the reception?
M-i-L Ginny checking in here, too exhausted to say much or post pictures. Everything went so well they won't even have an entry for funniest home videos. I am beyond tired...
-
You know Ginny. Still partying, I'm sure!
Yeah, a regular party animal.
LOL - I actually did dance, twice. Once with Rob and once with Richard. And we had to stay 'til the bitter end to pay the bartender.
-
Sounds like some fun, Ginny.

Well, tomorrow we have to pack up and drive back to Ohio, so check with me on Tuesday...
Meanwhile, 'night!

I wonder if Ginny was too exhaisted to even check-in after the reception?
M-i-L Ginny checking in here, too exhausted to say much or post pictures. Everything went so well they won't even have an entry for funniest home videos. I am beyond tired...
Ginny, congrats on the successful wedding!

I would like to be in my 170's.......I would have a whole new wardrobe.
I don't think that I've ever been in the 170s. ::)

Nice.
