Well, you've read the notes, the notes didn't get away, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they got away - and the problem has been how to get them back where they belong - like Dolly.
-
And the word of the day is: PAREIDOLIA!
-
From yesterday (and touched upon in today's Notes II):
Man, this day got away from me. I got up and was immediately inundated with messages about what another soundtrack label was doing, having to do with re-pressing a limited edition that sold out quickly in about twelve hours. They basically said they were out of the limited edition game, were going to do whatever the market would bear, and threatened that any title that didn't sell well would be pulled and effectively go out of print. That story changed many times throughout the day because I'm sure they began to realize that they have CONTRACTS, those little things that have obligations in them - so they waffled and back-pedaled and now basically are saying it will be business as usual and occasionally they may re-press if something sells out quickly. Meaning, their limited to 3000 units line is bogus and untrue. Leave it off, but they won't because then they suddenly lose the BENEFITS of the limited edition. They've basically shot themselves in the foot, I believe, and, for me at least, the credibility issue has gone to hell.
This reminds me of when sh-k-boom released the "numbered, limited edition" vinyl album to The Drowsy Chaperone (limited to 1000)...but now they have a "second printing" that's still in print and selling.
:P is what I say.

Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all! No check yet from the Man in Philadelphia with the bank account, so I'm hoping it shows up today because it will be a larger amount than usual and i think I might purchase a non-regional Blu-Ray player as soon as someone directs me to a reputable site.
This morning I have a trip to see our paralegal Geri at the McGlinnventory; she wants to hear all about the Irish trek and I need to use the binder to reassemble my EILEEN work score and a couple of libretti and scores. I will stop at Toyland on my way down to 23rd to check on the office.
After that, my day is open, although I need to begn the first attempt at some sensible liner notes. New World Records has set the release date for the Herbert cello and piano music for December.
Time for my meds. More coffee.

Alas, all of the rain so far today has been causing flooding and flash-flooding throughout the area. There are reports that some of the tunnels in and out of DC have up to two feet of standing water in them. Right now, nothing is falling from the sky, but there are some more storms moving our way on the ole weather radar. So...
I'm going to get an even earlier head start into DC tonight just to be safe.

Otherwise...
I got a good hair cut. :)

Since we weren't planning to eat in the main dining room I didn't realize the rules applied to the open seating dining rooms.
As for quickly changing into a skirt.....The ship was very large & would not have permitted a quick change unless I ran both ways. A line was forming & chances were if I had changed there would have been a wait to eat. Instead we went to the buffet which I really didn't want that night. Keith was happy since he had wanted to eat there in the 1st place.

Been doing all manner of things - the four-mile jog, banking, putting gas in the motor car (gas has gone up twenty cents since "Hurricane" Irene - they threatened that and they made good on it despite Irene causing no damages to any oil refineries - someone will put a stop to this someday), picking up one of the errant and truant packages but not my new debit card (how can it take a bloody WEEK to get here from Indiana or wherever it's coming from). If it's not here by Friday I'm going to have them overnight me a card because I cannot do this anymore.
-
Then I had to give the absolute final approval to the Nudie Musical blu-ray disc and packaging, which I did. That was actually a little scary because now it’s all on its way to get pressed and it’s all final now and I just have to hope that everyone will be pleased with what we’ve done.
Now it belongs to the ages!

I know that they have "formal' nights on cruises, but I have never been on a cruise that strictly enforced the dress code. After all, you paid for the damn food, how can they actually keep you from eating it. I have eaten in the less formal dining rooms on evenings that I just didn't fell like dressing up; but I have also watched people come in to the main dining room on "formal" nights wearing very casual clothes.
-
Hmmm, maybe I had a grump sitting people at the tables. ;)

Good Evening!
By the time I finally made my way into DC proper, all the exits and tunnels that were closed due to flooding were reopened. Of course, since I forgot that Independence Avenue becomes a one-way street during the afternoon rush hour, I ended up taking a nice "detour" through NW DC to get to SW DC.

As DR Jose reported, there was a lot of rain in the DC area today. I managed to go out for lunch and not get too wet. And I thought I saw the sun for a moment or two later in the afternoon. But the rain is back, with tornado warnings for some counties in Maryland.

We are having fire warnings. It is very dry here & there might be lightening storms.

Thank you, Kevin.

They keep teasing us with the possibility of rain, but it doesn't happen.
-
I'm suspecting there's a high terrorist threat, possibly 9/11 alarms, in NYC at the moment: lots of subway alerts about untended bags and an interview on tv this morning about Al Quaeda and twrrorsit activities.
So, no word on nonregional Blu-ray players?

the good news was that we were right near a shopping center and were able to turn into it
-
the bad news is the car stopped dead and would not restart
-
the good news is we have AAA
-
I'm suspecting there's a high terrorist threat, possibly 9/11 alarms, in NYC at the moment: lots of subway alerts about untended bags and an interview on tv this morning about Al Quaeda and twrrorsit activities.
So, no word on nonregional Blu-ray players?
I still can't remember if I can watch Blu-ray and non Blu-ray DVDs on a Blu-ray player, but I can or can't play Blu-ray on a regular DVD player. Is this correct?
-
the bad news is the cell phone connection was horrendous and we were having trouble getting through
-
the good news is the big truck directly behind us when we broke down was the AAA flatbed town truck for that area
-
the bad news is that the alternator is dead
-
Oh no!
-
the good news is that we have a mechanical breakdown policy on that car so we would "only" have to pay the $250 deductible
-
the good news is that we have a mechanical breakdown policy on that car so we would "only" have to pay the $250 deductible
That is good. Did you ever get the Chinese food?
-
DR TD it is good you have Miss Molly to get you moving tomorrow morning.
-
the really crappy news is the mechanic found an additional $1000 worth of repairs that needed doing that are not included under the warranty
-
Intermission!
We have a new person on the sound board tonight...
And my ears are a little stuffed up too...
:-\

Oooooooohhhhhh, DR vixmom.

Darn, I thought the $250 was the end of the story-ouch!

Fortunately we had already eaten before the incident

TCB, you CAN play DVDs and Blu-ray discs on a Blu-ray player. You CANNOT play Blu-ray discs on a DVD player.
-
At the beginning of the story I thought the bad news was going to have something to do with the Chinese food
-
Thank you, DRs Vixmom and Cillaliz, for the birthday wishes for DS Rob!
-
the really crappy news is the mechanic found an additional $1000 worth of repairs that needed doing that are not included under the warranty
:o
D'OH!!

it was delicious I had lo mien and teriaki chicken

Ouch!

Vixmom I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner FIRST. :)

I am hoping someone outbids me for an alto saxophone on eBay. I've been trying to buy one for a week or two and kept getting sniped or whatever they call it, so I bid on two of them and got the first one and am still winning the second....I hope someone wants it, lol...if not I'll be selling one of them

Vixdad had the King Pao chicken

I'm recording the debate to watch in a little while.
-
Page Eight!
-
oy! I'm listening to the answers about immigration. Very few of them don't understand what the current law is....
-
I'm recording the debate to watch in a little while.
I didn't know there was a debate.

Sunday was crazy busy =
first church
then we took our elderly passenger out to Panera for a meal
then I had to go buy a dress for wedding because I am either too fat or too thin for all the nice dresses I own
(lucked out there- I had a $10 off coupon for Dress Barn and found a great dress I can wear again and after the coupon it cost me only $40 )
then I had to go get beautified at the hair salon and the nail salon
then home, showered dressed, collected Vixdad and drove an hour to the wedding
which was very nice
and that was Sunday gone
-
Thanks, Vixmom and Cillaliz.
-
I can't believe that we are in the first week of September in the year 2011; and we are already having debates between possible Presidential candidates.
-
Happy anniversary to DR Laura!!!!!!
-
oh and the good news end of the Saturday story we got towed home in time for me to get in my car and get the Vixter and her friend from the fair so they weren't stranded miles from home at midnight
-
They've been bugging people in Iowa all summer
-
The candidates that is
-
Thanks, FJL.
-
I was afraid when you began your story that someone was going to get hurt. I am so glad no one got hurt.

Last night we went to the ONE NIGHT ONLY!!!! 3D film presentation of the Peter Gabriel New Blood Concert at the multiplex - (same shopping center where the Vixdadmobile went bellyup)

Since I don't even have a nonregion regular DVD player (we do have a DVD player, it's just not region free), I don't know if this is any good. It's posted on Amazon

Thanks, DR Ben! BK told me when he was in NYC that he'd provide me with information and I'm still waiting. And where is our DR MBarnum these days? Did the nursing home put a restraining order against him?
-
It was excellent and we all three really enjoyed it particularly Vixdad and the Vixter who are both big Peter Gabriel fans

It's just one book a week, but that's 52 books a year
-
DRvixmom, I am happy to hear that you were okay. Chicken teriyaki doesn't sound very Chinese, though!

Can she put three words together?

G'night!

The Vixter and I went to the theater first to ensure good seats and we were the first ones there - we got our favorite "center" "center" seats Vixdad arrived just in time for the show to begin (he is currently driving the old station wagon, which in another piece of good luck I had reinspected and put back on the road the LAST Saturday - its been off road for a year and I decided to get it ready in case the Vixter gets her license

OMG Miss South Carolina's answer almost makes sense..... people in the US can't locate the United States on a map because they don't have maps. She should have stopped there
-
You know, if they asked me that question -- why can't one-fifth of Americans find the US on a world map -- I would have said it was because they were stupid.
-
LOL, me too
-
If you asked Wae-Ling to find the US on a world map, she could not only find it, but she would point out Arizona, too.
-
We decided to go out to the diner across the road since none of us had eaten - While Vixter and I were turning into the diner her phone started vibrating (fortunately she had turned it onto silent at the theatre instead of off) it was Vixdad - the wagon wouldn't start his jumper cables were in his car at the mechanic's and I suddenly had no cables in my van so off we went home were we fortunately had a spare set of cables and back to the shopping center and got the wagon going again.
Vixdad's car has self extinguishing headlamps - he has not needed to turn his headlamps off in 5 years -- unfortunately the station wagon does not posses that helpful feature. A night on the battery charger and the wagon was good to go again
-
I blame GPS, you don't have to read a map anymore.
-
Who did they find for that poll, anyway? Four-year-olds?
-
and THAT is why I was E &T since the power came back
-
I have those, Vixmom. Luckily I have remembered to turn off the lights when I use my DH's car.
-
I can't imagine a classroom without a map! In second or third grade we learned the states the capitol and where it was. As I recall I already knew most of them. Of course there are a lot of people from both coasts who still can't identify all the states in between the coasts.
-
It is capitol or capital....I get those mixed up
-
Happy Birthday to DS Rob

Congrats! I've actually just ordered a Kindle with the points from my debit card...they're going to start to expire in November, so I had to order something.
My order is "Awaiting Shipment. Order is currently awaiting shipment. Please check back within 3 business days for more detailed shipping and tracking information."
It's been "Awaiting Shipment" for several days, now. I've been checking back within 3 business days for several days now.

Last night while reading I had the strangest thing happen. I couldn't get it to go to the next page. When I turned the page slowly I could see it turn, only the next page was the same one I was attempting to leave. I finally went into content, found the next chapter & opened it. I then backed the pages up until I was where I needed to be.
Fortunately the book was fairly short & the chapters even shorter. Unfortunately I read the entire book last night. The night before I couldn't sleep either & read most of the night. At the moment I feel as if I shall crash as soon as we begin watching the debate.

Today was kind of a wasted day at the office. I got my desk organized, had a few nonproductive consults and right when I was about to get something done, the guys came to bring our new copier and big color printer. Not sure I like it, but I'm sure it will be fine. We'll adjust, lol. There is now enough room in Edith's area that I can get her a bigger work table/desk whatever I can find for a reasonable amount of money.
-
On my nook the icon is on the far left, don't know about on a color nook

From DR John G:
Looks like the book deal is happening. So, I have to write a book this all, take two grad classes, work full time, maintain the website to keep the advertisers happy and sleep. Going to be a busy fall.
It sure looks like it.
BOOK DEAL FINALIZING VIBES!!!
Thank you, Jane.

DR Vixmom, wow what adventures you've been having. Hopefully you will get your car fixed soon.
Btw, i cannot believe you went in and found a dress to wear to a wedding the same day. That is impressive.

Rehearsal dinner drama:
When I was growing up my parents belonged to a potluck group of 5 couples, one of whom lived in East Lansing. The wife in that couple died a few years ago and my mom has been talking ever since Rob and Mary Linda became engaged about inviting the widower to be her "date" for the wedding. She finally called him on Saturday afternoon and thought he said he'd come over for the rehearsal dinner. She waited by the elevator like a teenager and he never arrived. All the young people felt so bad for her and she was concerned he'd had an accident or something. Well, she told me he called yesterday and explained that he'd gone to the wrong hotel. She was greatly relieved.

DR Jennifer, there are circumstances when you can retract a bid and I could fib and do it, but the truth is I just took a chance bidding on two of the same thing. I'm going to let it go. I can always sell one of them and who knows which one i'll like better

So sad that she spent the rehearsal dinner worried about her date or feeling stood up. Glad it was an honest mistake, but still it's sad

DR Vixmom, I wish 1) she'd called him sooner, and 2) she'd let me talk to him after I dialed the number for her. She's pretty sharp for a 92-year-old, but doesn't always get the details straight.
-
DR Cillaliz - I don't think she let it ruin her evening, but it would have been nice for her to see him. Of the 5 couples, there's only 1 couple left. There are 3 widows and the East Lansing widower. These people were like extended family because we and they were all from somewhere else without a lot of blood relatives around. Come to think of it, there were 6 couples (add another widower...)
-
In other news - Mary Linda has changed her last name on Facebook!
-
I had my physical yesterday. All I know at this point is my blood pressure is very good and since I've hit the 50 I have to find out if my insurance covers colonoscopy screening. Oh Joy. My doctor now gives results by email.

I spy DR Laura looking at the list of topic the guests are looking at

Oh my, I passed a milestone 50 posts ago and didn't even notice. At least I dont' remember noticing

Too bad you can't click and see which post the guests are reading

Why print them? I guess our conversations here must be exciting to someone.

YEAH!!!! I've been out bid, That worked out well. Now I get a saxaphone that looks like one a kid used in school and took pretty good care of. I can't wait. I had a saxphone I got for $60 when I was in high school and learning all the woodwinds. When I decided to give up being a music major I sold it for $60 to a kid starting out. I've always wished I had kept it. Now I get one again!!!
-
True. Very true.

Good news, Cillaliz.

I really like your DIL's dress I am so tired of all these strapless gowns they are so unbecoming on 99 % of the brides out there
I agree, DR Vixmom. Mary Linda wore her mother's wedding gown from 1982. Ironically, she's one of the few who could get away with wearing the current strapless gowns, but she chose the heirloom look.

DR vixmom - ...At least it's good to know that none of you were hurt, and that you still managed to have a good meal. ;)

I can't see the cursive... :(
-
In other news...
I really just need to veg out for a bit and then get some sleep. I have understudy rehearsal tomorrow, so that means that I'll be at the theatre from Noon-11:00pm which means I need to rest up...
Goodnight.

I can't see the cursive... :(
I was raised to believe it was impolite (and socially unacceptable) to use the cursive in mixed company (or polite society).
(Change your font, DR JoseSPiano, and input "script").

Whew! Very good news!

ASK BK
I was listening to The Stephen Schwartz album and was wondering is there a "formula" to what order the songs are placed on the cd? (I guess this also goes for all the other concepts albums and the vocal albums)
I do have a formula for the way I sequence CD programs - but it's not one I'm willing to share here for obvious reasons. It's amazing how many CDs fail because they don't understand about sequencing. The Schwartz CD took a while to get right, but it's really right. I hit on my formula with the very first CD I did and it's always worked - not always easy, but the principals always work. If I do volume two of the memoir then I'll probably reveal all this there.

Back from a wonderful evening and shall now write about it in the notes.

Wow, it's 4:45am and there are no new notes.
I guess they are about to go up as Mr. K is on line at this moment.
Later.
