Oh DR JOSE thanks for the CARE Package.....I shall be looking it over this afternoon.
PT at the theatre?
WOW!
Someone like me must have kicked the bucket......there were LOTS of old Broadway and Hollywood LP's in the Goodwill bin today....most of which I have....like looking at my own collection.
I didn't get through them all.....but I did buy the LP of GOLIDLOCKS with Don Ameche and Elaine Stritch, that I have never heard....and a Mitchel Trio LP violets of dawn....John Denver, Joe Frazier, Mike Kobiak... There are some songs on this album that I haven't heard...
Many of the arrangements last night were by Alex Rybeck from Liz's album, including My Heart Is So Full Of You.
THE TALK is doing a tribute to 9/11; the footage and comments are heartwrenching. It still hurts.
It's quite dreary here in SW Ohio today...
That looks like a fun CD!
My mood after THE TALK brightened considerably after a Facebook message from conductor John Wilson!
I was just reading a recipe that had peanut butter icing. It said to use Kraft whipped peanut butter. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Has anyone tried it?
The Man from Philadelphia sent The Check! I can plan my trips for the month.
But it's nouveau DR JANE!
RAIN VIBES FOR DR LAURA!!!
Maybe a rain dance will help.

Two gentlemen in my hiking group are part of a Marching Band, in 6/8 time. They have been asked to march in the, first time ever, Ashland Gay Pride Parade and are wondering what would be appropriated. Any suggestions? I told them I could get loads of ideas for them.
Maybe Elmore will come to Arizona, and I can take him for a walk.
I took a walk around the sewage ponds today....
I'm disappointed no one responded to my question posted on Aug. 31st. I'll attempt this again.QuoteTwo gentlemen in my hiking group are part of a Marching Band, in 6/8 time. DR Laura, that would be fun and educational, but I've got a long trip to the Library of congress in my future. I really want to go back to Dublin!

Oooh! Ooh! Can you take a LiveCam with you so we can get Larry's reaction to the sewage ponds?

I remember thw inquiry but I have no idea what it is you want to know by "what would be appropriated": do you mean what would be appropriate? Appropriate what?
Music?
Instrument?
Clothing?
Shoes?
Bag?

Any show tune would be appropriate for a Gay Pride Parade, surely. Why not some Jerry Herman...."The Best of Times" from "La Cage Aux Folles" could be played in 6/8 time, I think.
That could be followed with an up-tempo "I Am What I Am". Of course, there are probably going to be other bands, so there may be a conflict with another band's selections.
Another crowd-pleaser would be "Tap Your Troubles Away" from "Mack and Mabel" (another Jerry Herman show). If the band has a choreographer, it could be a showstopper.

Music! They need suggestions as what to play. I'm sure they can figure out what to wear ;)

Are you friends with John Wilson? He's getting lots and lots of play on my BBC radio stations these past two weeks because of the release of the CD you posted.
I heard an interview where he talked about restoring the scores for many of the MGM musicals and how almost none of the printed material exists anymore. It was all thrown away in the 70s around the time MGM decided to sell off the back lot and all the sets, costumes and props. He's done a great job with the scores.

I assume if they are in a marching band they already have music and that since they've been asked to play in a gay parade, the group has a lot of gay members, if not all of them. TheBig apple Marching Corps for the Gay Pride march here plays everything from Sousa to Sondheim.
Maybe Elmore will come to Arizona, and I can take him for a walk.
Oooh! Ooh! Can you take a LiveCam with you so we can get Larry's reaction to the sewage ponds?
I doubt it would faze me; DR Ginny and I have acquaintances who go to the dump to shoot rats.
Well, DR Jose, the skies are still dreary here, but my day has brightened considerably by the surprise the mailman brought from you! Thank you so much!

For sure the two I hike with aren't gay & suspect the majority aren't. They are just a local group of guys who love to play. They are rarely even paid though they perform all around the area.
I'll pass along your comments of what your local band plays there. Thank you.

I also think that visiting DR Laura would be a hoot! Especially if there are kittens.

He's friends with friends of mine - Ted Chapin, Bruce pomahac, Kim Criswell, Brent Barrett, Caroline O'Connor - and he's a fan of mine, so it was time we met. He conducted those concerts with Brent that lured DR KevinH to England in the last months. When I wasin Dublin, he'd just appeard at the National concert Hall with Kim, and the Irish group on EILEEN thought he was fantastic. His 2011 Proms concert "Hooray For Hollywood" is really spectacular.
DR Jose it isn't just Sand Diego that is without power:

6/8 is a waltz time, right? Viennese, as I recall. Richard Rodgers has some lovely waltzes, but I don't know how appropriate a waltz is to a marching band. Still, "I Am What I Am" would be a great one for a marching band. And "It's Today" from "Mame" would also be good. It's in 2/4 time. I also like Ron Pulliam's suggestions.I'm disappointed no one responded to my question posted on Aug. 31st. It's a hilarious show. I have a copy of the script and remember laughing so hard that I had tears in my eyes. I love GOLDILOCKS! It's a really funny show, and the score has some wonderful numbers. The ballet music is fantastic.

3/4 is waltz time, DR John G. Many marches are in 6/8: Gounod's "Funeral March of a Marionette," Sousa's "Washington Post March," and Herbert's "March of the Toys."
Thank you so much, John G and to vixmom, too! When I was about 6 years old, "Sweet Caroline" was my favorite song. Though I don't care for much of Neil Diamond's recent work (from about "Jazz Singer" on), I love his early stuff. I'm glad he's in a great group of Kennedy Center honorees. I feel honored to have seen all but Meryl Steep live.
Another long, involved day and another day without the replacement debit card's arrival - that makes nine days as of tomorrow - it's not looking good and I'll give it till then before asking them to once again issue yet another card, which they will have to get to me via a safer method than the stupid, sickening USPS.
As for the Topic of the Day...
Ever since I learned the songs from "Hans Christian Andersen" in my fourth grade music class from Sister Edward Eileen, I.H.M., I've always had a soft spot for "Inchworm".
I suggested they go to OKLAHOMA, but I don't think they were going to go. At least I tried
