Well, you've read the notes, the notes had celebrities who were signing, and now it is time for you to post until the celebrity cows come home.

Well, yesterday was a day.  My sister, my niece and I went to see country singer Chely Wright (http://chely.com/) perform with the Seattle Women's Chorus.  Chely (pronounced "Shelly") came out as a lesbian about a year and a half ago.  She's gotten a lot of support, but not from much of the country/Nashville community.  It was a wonderful concert and a lot of good songs.  Even though I didn't know too many (and am not, in general, a fan of country music), I had a great time.  Chely told stories (evidently, she likes to talk at her concerts ;)) and a couple were quite touching.  My sister's boyfriend Larry was supposed to go to the concert, but he wasn't feeling well, so I went.  And I'm glad I did.

Two great, but very different, concerts in two days! :D

The only problem that I had yesterday was with my new contact lenses.  I don't know if there's something radically different between these and the test pairs that I got last week, or the fact that I've worn them all day and it's the first time since May that I've worn contacts for a full day, but I've had a head/eye ache all day. :P  I haven't taken them out yet, because it's difficult to read even my computer screen without them, let alone my TV.  Anyway, I'm going to take them out now and read my Kindle for a while (I'm halfway through Kritzerland!), then go to bed.  I'll try the contacts again in the morning and see how they feel.  I still have a couple of pair of the test contacts, so if there's still a problem, I can use those until I get my glasses back.

I'll be back in Manhattan sometime later today. I want to make sure I go early enough in case it starts to rain again and the LIRR decides to crash which happened last Thursday when we had a big rain storm. A lightning strike at Jamaica hit the new signal tower and all trains were cancelled. By Friday morning all was right but rain seems to have a bad effect on the trains and I need to be at work tomorrow morning.

Good morning, all! I slept lste, much later than I had intended, but I blame it on the meds: yesterday morning, in a fit of mental distraction I tok my evening meds, so around 6 pm last night I took the morning ones, one of which is hydrochlorothiazide, for high blood pressure and water retention. As a result I was up half of the night running to the bathroom. Oy!

I remember only one of last night's dreams now: working at the Drama Book Shop over Christmas holiday and the frustrations of dealing with the owners on book orders. This could be frustrating for both clerks and customers, since the buyer believed in getting the highest possible discount and she did this by ordering large quantities, but there would be periods where the store would be out of stock on a hot item while we waited fora large order to arrive. It was very pound wise and penny foolish because we spent a lot of time watching customers go elsewhere to buy something.

Today, my agenda is to clean up this dump, prepare for tomorrow's trip to DC, and pack. My funtime will be a dinner visit with the wonderful delightful DR PennyO at Artie's!

Today and tomorrow are supposed to be rainy. But after that it is supposed to get sunny. And the temps are supposed to rise (not sure if that will happen). But right now next sunday is scheduled to be 23C (which is mid 70s). Yeah!

It is not raining here, nor is it chilly; nor is it wet.  Right now it's cool (for Phoenix---well, after coming off 40 days of 110 degrees) and lovely, so I'm not complaining.

It's about the same down here in Northern Virginia. It was quite cool(!) last night. It was nice sleeping weather, but I kind of wished I had my down comforter nearby.

Thank You, DR JRand. I have a feeling the "after party" is going to be a tame, low-key affair. -Which is a good thing. A lot of people in the company are also heading out first thing tomorrow morning. Some back to NYC. Some out to Pittsburgh. Some to Los Angeles.  -Also, the "poster" for the party is very plain which usually means a "plain" party. ::)

I started packing for Los Angeles. Trying to decide if I should take a pair of slacks to wear to the play. It is at the East West Theatre and I don't know how dressy it normally is for a matinee.

If I take slacks then I have to pack nice shoes and socks. So far I have only packed warm weather clothes, although some of the shirts are nice and some of the shorts are dressy-ish. Leather sandals and flip flops are my footwear of choice, thus far.

It was an interesting movie, but not nearly as exciting as the poster would suggest...

Two months for us -- and this was monsoon!

Our September tied for the third driest on record with a whopping .31 inches of rain.  Everything is dying.  The fall color won't be very good this year, in spite of the flooding from the water the Army Corp released from the dam, we haven't had  much rain at all.

Thank you. I priced one. It was $377 (+tax, of course) with $250 for installation. Then they added a $35 charge to come out and take a look at the hookup to see if any work needs to be done. Then I have to pay $95 to the city in order to hook it up. I wonder what other charges there will be. All of the charges will cost more than the heater itself. Ugh.

You're doing the original, not with the movie interpolations, like "Lovely to Look At"? And is it "Roberta" or "Gowns by Roberta"? Cable guy is gone and all is connected and working. However, I now have found that my new DVD recorder will not record from channels that have now started copy protecting their movies/tv shows...for instance Encore Westerns.

Evidently, DVD recorders made before 2006, which my old one was, were able to by pass the copy protection that cable stations use...new machines do not bypass this...I am beyond unhappy. My DVR is FULL of stuff recorded off of Encore Westerns and now I cannot burn them to DVD like I could with my old machine....so getting a new DVD recorder was rather pointless. Hopefully Turner Classic Movies is not using the copy protection.

The original title of the show that opened out of town was "Gowns by Roberta," which is the title of the Alice Duer Miller novel that the musical was based on. By the time it opened in New York, it had changed directors and title. The early Russell Bennett scores have the "Gowns by Roberta" title, and the alterations have "Roberta." There are three Appendix numbers: "Lovely To Look At" and "I Won't Dance," added to the film, and "Armful of Trouble," cut from the show, although the melody appears in the underscoring several times. I'm taking the novel with me to DC

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Excellent Travel Vibes & Xylophones for BK!  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've moved some furniture around, and I'm ready to begin some prep work on ROBERTA, a 1933 musical comedy by Messrs Otto Harbach amd Jerome Kern.
You're doing the original, not with the movie interpolations, like "Lovely to Look At"? And is it "Roberta" or "Gowns by Roberta"? I have a divinely deco designed piece of piano music for "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" from the original production hanging on my wall and it just says "Roberta," but I've heard others swear the title had the "Gowns by ..."
The original title of the show that opened out of town was "Gowns by Roberta," which is the title of the Alice Duer Miller novel that the musical was based on. By the time it opened in New York, it had changed directors and title. The early Russell Bennett scores have the "Gowns by Roberta" title, and the alterations have "Roberta." There are three Appendix numbers: "Lovely To Look At" and "I Won't Dance," added to the film, and "Armful of Trouble," cut from the show, although the melody appears in the underscoring several times. I'm taking the novel with me to DC
I never read the book.  Should I? I like the movie.
JohnG, I'm actually surprised you can buy a water heater for $377. The last time I priced one it was over $900. Apparently, they have been redesigned and are now much safer--but more costly, too. Maybe this is one of those "get ya in the door" promotions with an unrealistically low price, but lots of add-on charges? I hope this is soon behind you.
Good morning, all! I slept lste, much later than I had intended, but I blame it on the meds: yesterday morning, in a fit of mental distraction I tok my evening meds, so around 6 pm last night I took the morning ones, one of which is hydrochlorothiazide, for high blood pressure and water retention. As a result I was up half of the night running to the bathroom. Oy!
I have had to stop taking my hydrochlorothiazide, because this imaginary (in my head) spinal stenosis has caused me to have bladder control problems.  The restroom at work is on the other side of the office.  And wetting my pants at work is not something I wish to do.
I'm sure the stress of your "imaginary" condition isn't helping your blood pressure.  I looked up the "imaginary" condition & didn't really find too many comments that it is in one's head.  Were you told your current problem could be a side effect of the surgeries?  They were so long ago it is difficult you would suddenly imagine these problems.
Well, it probably won't make too much difference in his worklife, but it's an honor.  When he got his doctorate, I pictured him maybe an academic dean, but not dean of a cathedral...
SPOILER ALERT RE THE PHANTOM SCREENING:
After the show, Andrew Lloyd Webber came out to thunderous applause.  He thanked everyone involved and then introduced the creative team, led by Cameron MacIntosh.  Next came the original London company, including Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman.   Sarah then sang the title song accompanied by 4 former Phantoms.  The only one I recognized was Colm Wilkinson.  I saw on the credits that Anthony Warlow and John Owen-Jones were two more.   The "Phantoms" then sang "Music of the Night," with Ramin (tonight's Phantom) joining them.  Ramin sang the last line of the song directly to Michael Crawford, who seemed touched.    I wish I had been there in person, but this was the next best thing!
Ok, I added a pair of tan dockers and another shirt into my suitcase. Then I decided to removed 3 t-shirts. I had way too many packed.
I pack like the Howell's did for their 3 day tour.
3 hour tour.
Good morning, all! I slept lste, much later than I had intended, but I blame it on the meds: yesterday morning, in a fit of mental distraction I tok my evening meds, so around 6 pm last night I took the morning ones, one of which is hydrochlorothiazide, for high blood pressure and water retention. As a result I was up half of the night running to the bathroom. Oy!
I have had to stop taking my hydrochlorothiazide, because this imaginary (in my head) spinal stenosis has caused me to have bladder control problems.  The restroom at work is on the other side of the office.  And wetting my pants at work is not something I wish to do.
I'm sure the stress of your "imaginary" condition isn't helping your blood pressure.  I looked up the "imaginary" condition & didn't really find too many comments that it is in one's head.  Were you told your current problem could be a side effect of the surgeries?  They were so long ago it is difficult you would suddenly imagine these problems.
CONTINUED VIBES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank Jane.  No, I was never told about any possible side effects at the time.
That sort of debunks his "imaginary" theory.
Have fun DR PENNY O and DR ELMORE!
It was a fantastic 2-hour non-stop event! I'm now working on getting Miss PennyO an audition for our Appalachian Christmas show; we need a fierce matriarch, and I think our DR PennyO would be FIERCE!
I think that would be terrific.
That doesn't mean it's all in your head. They said the same thing about fibromyalgia. They know now it is real.
They fibromyalgia literature always mentions Arthritis was once thought to be "imaginary".
I have my own theory about fibromyalgia.  I think one day it will be found to be more than one condition just as there are various types of arthritis.
Well my sister's RAIL PASS arrived at her house yesterday and she needs it in London by Wednesday....
Which would be best:
USPS
UPS
There is no FED EX office locally.
I think you should fly over there and give it to her in person.
Great idea!
How much is the cost of mailing it vs buying a new one?
We are getting ready to watch the first installment of Ken Burns' PROHIBITION, which was heavily promoted on NPR during our drive to Lima this morning.  I also hope to see tonight's PAN AM, but I'm pretty sleepy even though I napped for about half an hour in the car on the way home.
Yes TCB  from the advertising it seems that this will soon be a dvd -  the Vixter has just started her Christmas wish list  with it
I always thought that POTO ran a little too long.  That is why I thought the Vegas PHANTOM was nearly perfect at 93 minutes.  Everything was still included, but they just eliminated all of the extra verses of a lot of the songs (the half hour MASQUERADE).  I wonder if I will be bored seeing the longer version again.
PROHIBITION is going to talk about Sioux City at some point.  A Methodist minister who was big on temperance was shot dead in the street and the accused was found not guilty...then he had his photo taken with the jury.
Here's a story about it from today's paper  http://www.siouxcityjournal.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/article_f3c41279-0c0d-5c97-b98b-ffe9dde66e0a.html (http://www.siouxcityjournal.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/article_f3c41279-0c0d-5c97-b98b-ffe9dde66e0a.html)
I'm also doing my laundry.  I've nearly finished painting the gazebo.  I've had the screens out all summer and decided today to take the screen door off as well.  They really only provide a place for the spiders to make webs and it isn't really inviting.  I like the open feeling much better and I think it will be a lot easier to take care of.  The door would trap the water and the floor had rotted a little. I had that repaired, but without the door on, the water will just run out.
