Well, you've read the notes, the notes were little and spoke of things, and now it is time for you to post until the little cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: WIDDERSHINS!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
Ralph Vaughn Williams on the CD.
"Full Dark, No Stars" from Stephen King on the car CD. First story is quite creepy as Halloween approaches.
-
Shocking that there is a theater DEPT at LACC and NO BOYS auditioned for the show.....
-
Today I work at the store....and MOLLY will be working with us, too! She worked on Monday, but this is the first time I have worked with her since May of 2008.
-
Apple Bank, Capital One, Citibank - they all charge the same fees (or soon will), so they're all the same to me.
(ref to Elmore's story last night)
-
Oops, must read the notes!!!!
-
And that's why I'm with Actors Federal Credit Union and Amalgamated Bank (a small Labor bank).
-
Good morning, all!
This is a quiet day and I have next to nothing to report: dermatologist at 1:30, dinner with Bruce Pomahac at 6.
TOD:
DVD: Oh, god, those three Netflix items sit here!
CD: Gilbert & Sullivan THE GRAND DUKE, The Four Aces, John Wilson's MGM album
VCR: Oy!
-
Off to work.
Oh well.
-
Friday morning greetings! How does one spend the weekend before leaving for 2 and a half weeks in Europe? Well, we're going to Lima today and staying until after church on Sunday. The big ceremony designating Richard's church the cathedral is tomorrow morning, with clergy meetings all afternoon. At least we don't leave early on Monday...
-
Wishing everyone a lovely Friday!
-
TOD:
LOST EMPIRES
TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY
I have to review the above, then I can watch:
THE CREATURE WASN'T NICE, which BK was kind enough to give me in Chicago.
-
It's a beautiful day in Phoenix, AZ!
-
The manager at my Chase bank confirmed they will NOT be adding any fees (I don't use a debit card in any case), and he told me to spread the word. Consider the word spread.
-
MSN has added annoying ads to the email page. Argh.
-
Tonight we are attending Kol Nidre services at a congregation right down the street from us we have never attended before. Isn't that exciting?
-
The bizarre part is they're Baptists.
-
(Rim shot please).
-
The bizarre part is they're Baptists.
That's funny. Another bizarre part is that the Westboro group "claim" to be Baptists....but you just know God hates EVERYthing they stand for!

SPOILER
"Project Runway" SPOILER
It is, indeed, true what JRand61 said about last night's Project Runway episode. The eliminated designer has consistently shown us well-made garments. The designer who was spared has been consistently one-note and given to excessive moments of bad taste in fabric choices and color choices. Last night was no exception. In fact, so certain was I that she would be eliminated that I was flabbergasted (and it was no pretty sight, let me tell you) when she was declared to be "in". It made me wonder (oh! yes! I wondered!) if the evicted designer hadn't let it be known that he was ready to go if they had to choose between him and another.
The evictee seemed happy enough to be going.
JoshM is about as fashion-forward as Melmac. He stumbles onto good designs just as he delivers, on purpose, his gosh-awful ones. I'm gonna say Kimberly stumbled onto her design, as well. It certainly wasn't a product of her forethought or imagination. It was out of desperation...which may be how she should operate in future. Laura Kathleen was wide-eyed with fear last night. And she should have been. And it should have paid off for us. But, no.
Poor Viktor. He must be shattered that Anya has won the last two competitions. Anya does amaze me. And to think her winning look is exactly what JoshM was referencing when he dissed her lack of experience (compared to his years and years of same).
By the by....I watched "Bye Bye Birdie" on TCM a few weeks back...and I was astonished at how much JoshM resembles Paul Lynde as he looked in that film.
End SPOILAGE

TOD:
Been watching the DVD of A Study in Terror. I didn’t see the film when it was first released in 1960 but did see a TV screening many years ago. Not a great film but entertaining enough and interesting as the first film to pit Sherlock Holmes against Jack the Ripper. Good cast includes John Neville as Holmes, Robert Morley, Cecil Parker, Judi Dench, Anthony Quayle and Donald Houston as Doctor Watson. The film was produced by Compton Films, who specialised in exploitation films and the occasional art house film. A Study in Terror was considered overly sensationalised at the time (it was given an X certificate in Britain) but seems fairly tame nowadays. Good score by John Scott who I believe re-recorded it for CD a few years ago although I don’t have the disc.

Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I slept, and I slept.
-
Oh..
And now...
It's...
Good Afternoon!
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
I really haven't had any time for any "Media" this week. However, I guess the New York Philharmonic could be considered a "media". ;)
-
bk - Was yesterday the only day for auditions? Could you hold another session if needed, requested?
-
DR MBarnum - As for Anderson Cooper... He's mine, I tell ya'! All mine!
::)
-
DR JRand - I hope you have another great day with Molly!
-
Oh...
bk - I like "guest stars". :)
-
DR elmore - I'm glad you got to meet Zach. Hopefully, our paths will cross soon too.
-
DR Laura - The Goldstein Sisters growing up... Is that a good thing or a bad thing? ;)
-
Hello, DR WolfeGirl!
-
Hello, DR vixter09!
-
I have matriculated to Google Chrome, which offers an AdBlock add-on.
-
They are taking pictures for the pre-school which is housed in the church I work for, and my office is right next to the "photo studio." Methinks I will not be working here today. ;)
-
I am up. Helper should be here shortly, then I'll jog.
-
Jose, I'm waiting to hear from the head of the department - I suppose we could do another day of auditions, although I'm not paying for a pianist again because not one person who sang last night had sheet music - the pianist was actually able to play most things they sang, but that was rather silly. They really need me to come in and do a workshop there. But I don't want the guys to audition if they really don't want to do the show - that wouldn't be good for anyone, to force them.
-
Oh...
Last night's taping of "The Colbert Report" was quite amazing. There was a really good vibe and energy in the audience, and Stephen Colbert was really on his game too. He does a Q&A with the audience beforehand - out of character - and I was the first one he picked to be asked by. ??? Or something like that.
"Now that you've tackled "Larry" in Company, which Sondheim role would you like to tackle next. Male or Female?"
Right off the bat, he corrected me, "I played Harry, not Larry." Duh! Then he said that that whole process really took it out of him. However, he said he would love to take a crack at Pseudolus in Forum one day.
Last night's guest was Lieutenant Colonel Jason Amerine who discussed the early days of the war in Afghanistan. And even though there were a few moments interjected in there, it turned out to be quite an informative, sobering and moving interview. His account of the first days of the U.S. involvement in Afghanistan 10 year ago today, well... I and the rest of the audience had nothing but admiration and gratitude for him and his troops.
-
A belated thank you to all of the belated Happy Birthdays.
-
And...
When they were wrangling us up in the waiting area, it turned out that the guy behind me was also attending the taping by himself, so the ticket hander-outer kind of paired us up - "You two can be friends now". ;) It turned out to be sort of a "cute meet". He's in town from Minneapolis for a conference, and ended up with a ticket for last night's taping. His wife (ah, well ;) ) had put in the ticket request for him. In any case...
We had a great chat while we waited to go into the studio. -And we waited about an hour and a half. He then asked if I knew any good places to eat around there, well... Since I had already planned on heading to one of my favorite places afterwards, I invited him to join me. It turns out that he and his wife are also foodies, so we had a great time talking about favorite restaurants and dishes around the country - he travels a lot for work. And he really liked Casellula too. -And since it was my first time back there in four months, they also comped a few items for us too. It was a perfect "Welcome back to NYC". :)
-
Oh!
If you want to watch last night's episode of "The Colbert Report", just click HERE (http://www.colbertnation.com/full-episodes/thu-october-6-2011-jason-amerine).
*He also does a great deconstruction of the whole PAC and SuperPAC funding/money-laundering set-up.

What?!? No one brought sheet music? Just what exactly are they teaching them then about auditions?
*And if you happen to do a workshop while we're rehearsing the show...
-
And, yes, DR MBarnum, that birthday card is disturbing.
-
And...
I really need to get off of this couch for a bit.
Laters...
-
I've been watching the trial of Michael Jackson's doctor, the whole of which is being shown live on Sky TV News. I find it really interesting, partly because we don't have court cases televised in Britain, so it's fascinating to see what goes on.
-
! ! ! ! ! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO DR JMK ! ! ! ! !
-
Apple Bank, Capital One, Citibank - they all charge the same fees (or soon will), so they're all the same to me.
(ref to Elmore's story last night)
And that's why I'm with Actors Federal Credit Union and Amalgamated Bank (a small Labor bank).
I'm with O Bee Credit Union, here in Tumwater. "O Bee" originally started with employees of the Olympia Brewery. My mortgage is with BECU, Boing Employees Credit Union. I haven't had an account at a "bank" in more than 20 years.
-
Well, Mom is back home where she belongs. It took her only fifteen minutes to notice the one dead house plant that I neglected to water.
-
I enjoyed reading DR Jose's adventures in TV land yesterday. And I hope that cute meet story develops into something...
-
Sorry to "go quiet" there for a while. Rob hijacked my computer and ended up yelling at my printer just like I do.
We're headed for Lima soon - bye for now!
-
The only TV show that I can recall ever seeing was a taping of CONCENTRATION on a class trip to NYC back in the 3rd or 4th grade.
If I could attend any show today, it would be Martha Stewart's. She gives stuff away to the audience at the drop of a hat.
-
Jose, that's the point - they are doing NOTHING - they teach nothing about musical theater. Considering who came out of that school, it's really shocking.
-
Belated Happy Birthday and Welcome Back Wishes to JMK!
-
Hello from Washington National Airport--I'm "shuffling off" to Buffalo again. My nephew is having a birthday party for his daughter, who's turning 6 in a week or so. I understand the weather should be great--low 70's and sunny!
-
I enjoyed reading DR Jose's adventures in TV land yesterday. And I hope that cute meet story develops into something...
Thanks, DR Dan (the Man). I was hoping it would develop into something too last night. ;) -Alas, I don't think his wife and two daughters would have appreciated that. ::) But we really did have a great conversation, and made the hour and a half wait standing up in the holding area much more pleasant.
-
~~~~~SAFE TRAVEL VIBES TO DR KEVINH~~~~~
WELCOME HOME TO THE DEAR MOTHER OF DR DAN (THE MAN)!!!
-
Jose, that's the point - they are doing NOTHING - they teach nothing about musical theater. Considering who came out of that school, it's really shocking.
Ah, gotcha.
But couldn't they at least have put, "Please bring sheet music in your key to the audition"? -Or would that have "prevented" some of the students who did show up last night from showing up?
-
Anyhoo...
I've been poring over some of the materials from Boys from Syracuse, and it looks like I'll have to buckle down Winsocki next week to get the score in my fingers and ears. -Especially since it looks like I'll be coaching some of the cast members here in NYC. *Once the cast is "official", I'll be able to post some names here. In the meantime, it really does look like they've assembled quite a good cast.
Killer!
Good news about your mom, though!
I saw the dermatologist at 1:30 and got a new prescription so I headed up to my pharmacy at 68th and Amsterdam. After that, I walked over to my doctor's office to ask about this year's flu shot. Thirty minutes later I had my shot and headed home. I stopped at a bakery Red Velvet on 72nd Street to by something gooey, waited for over 10 minutes for someone to help and left in disgust.
Two hours until dinner with Mr Pomahac!
Just in case I don't make it back before sundown...
Thanks for putting the Project Runway spoiler. We are 4-6 weeks behind, so i appreciate it. Usually if the words Project runway are the first words i can spot it though.
-
It is an unbelievably nice day here. Sunny. Not windy. And 60s. It is supposed to get even nicer for the next week. Yeah!
-
It is 75 glorious degrees here today. We went hiking.
I also find this shocking and i've never auditioned for anything.
I'm trying to figure out how i can exercise tomorrow since i can't eat or drink. I wonder how dark/cold it will be at 6:30pm or 7pm. I could possibly try first thing in the morning. But probably not a good idea especially since i can't drink.
There are several very attractive men here, at least one of whom I hope sits near me.
I don't know if there are any celebrites on this flight. But you never can tell.
Movieland Wax Museum used to have a Keystone Cop who posed as a wax figure and then scared the heck out of people. I used to hang around just to watch him scare people.
DR Kerry found celebrities when we were at the Burbank Airport. So keep your eyes open!
Well, TCB, it all depends upon whether or not there is room for their walkers. And some have a caretaker who will need to sit, too.
I am back from dinner with Bruce at Good enough To Eat. We had a great time, and I ate way too much. It's time for some tv.
Good Evening!
Pumpkin Pie Frozen Custard. Blueberry Chia Seed "Tapioca" Pudding. Dark Chocolate Cupcake. One shredded pork and plantain arepa, one chicken and chorizo arepa. An ice cream sandwich made with pecan praline cookies and bourbon ice cream. A raisin-cover rum bun (made with Galliano).
I would probably attend a taping of Ellen, because she gives away a bundle to her audiences.
OLDIES.com has a "big sale" on their CHARLIE CHAN films. For some reason, I don't consider $11.99 per film to be a very big deal, especially considering how politically incorrect they are these days.
And, yes, Verizon is doing some work in the 'hood. -Apparently, a Verizon worker accidentally cut a Time-Warner line, so in order not to leave all the Time-Warner customers without service for the next couple of hours, Verizon is letting Time-Warner piggy-back on their lines. I went to THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW in elementary school for my best friend's birthday party. Keith & I went to a tapping of THE NEWLYWED GAME.
Keith went to THE PINKY LEE SHOW & won a dog but his parents found a new home for the crazy Beagle.
Our internet out & I expect there have been many posts between the time I attempted to post (after TCB's OLDIES.COM post) & the time I actually can.
In other news...
I need to get some sleep.
Goodnight.
So...
One day, as the cast was leaving the theatre after a matinee, they encountered a very adorable young girl. She had seen the show a couple of times, and since she happened to run into Cody - "Will Parker" - well...
For some reason, I wasn't able to do that. However, I did Google for a very easy workaround, and am downloading it myself now.
(Obviously, I'm sleep-posting right now.)
-
That it so cute, Jose! :D
-
Couldn't even watch a motion picture - I literally kept falling asleep. I'm thinkin' I have to find a day or two to do nothing because once mid-October hits it's straight through to the December Gardenia show.
-
My, that was sloooow.
-
That it so cute, Jose! :D
And so is Cody's... well... jeans. ::)
Too tired to catch up on today's posts.
-
But I had a nice strolling dinner tonight.
-
Ate at four places, heard a blues accordion band with a Kurt Weill fixation, and a wandered through plenty of artists' stalls.
-
Tomorrow, more eating and writing.
-
It was good to have hot water back again today.
-
One more.
-
Page six!
-
Good night.
-
Oh that was very worth it....cute as can be!
And that completes my "sleep-posting" for tonight.
Once again...
Goodnight.
