Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a prequel and a sequel all in one, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently watching Revenge Of The Cows.
-
And the word of the day is: VENAL!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all.

DR JOSE (From yesterday)
To clarify your question and Vixmom answer
The Masquerade number had no mannequins. It seemed to be that they especially brought in a lot more chorus members for this number because to my eye there were not that many in act one.
-
From yesterday>>>>
Andrew Lloyd Webber said that Michael Crawford came over from the Palladium (in time for the curtain calls). So I guess he is still doing The Wizard of Oz.
-
From yesterday>>>>>
Re: The Phantom's appearances.
This was evident in the crossovers. Hard to tell it wasn't the actor playing the Phantom but it was easy to tell it was someone else playing Christine. The camera is less forgiving in the illusion than sitting in the audience watching it.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes, in addition to yesterday's thanks, to JMK, Laura, Jose, Cilla, vixmom, MBarnum, and anyone I accidentally forgot in my pre-coffee-infusion haze

Here's an excerpt from the Playbill article listing the particulars about the reading BK saw last night.

Sheppard, Clay Storseth and Juliet Mills. Nic Arnzen directs."

Good morning, all! I have no memories of any dreams last night, I am happy to say, and my day today is quite full: City Center Encores! to visit with Joshie and look at the full socre for 1600 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, lunch and a chat with Rob Berman about some work on the Encores! Gala.
My wonderful brother Randy and sister-in-law and chef par excellence JoAnn gave me for my birthday a Kindle, and I have to get it up and running before they think I don't like it. I'm really lousy with technology and could use some help playing with it, and I really don't know what I want to download! I hate trying to learn something from an instruction manual; I feel as though the manual and the illustrations are speaking Esperanto and I'm waiting for the translator to show up.
DR FJL, This is a belated happy anniversary wish! You and Skip are the best, and I dropped the ball yesterday. Hopefully this will give you the excuse to celebrate another day.

Lar, there are some videos at Amazon about setting up your Kindle. Perhaps they will help.
Kindle Set Up/Start Up (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_k2start_power?nodeId=200375510&#powerup)
I would offer to help but I have a Sony. I don't know that they are that different but who knows.
If you haven't yet charged your Kindle I would start there since it can take 4-6 hours to charge the device.

I recently bought a new phone and today sent my first text message to a friend reminding her of when we are due to meet. Unfortunately I seem to have inadvertently sent the message to everyone in my phone book, including friends, businesses, dentist etc. How embarrassing!! Goodness knows what they will make of the message. I just hope they don't all turn up.

Thanks, Larry! Actually, the official 22nd anniversary day was Monday, but we're celebrating all week, so you're completely on time!

My MP3 players has been mailed.....perhaps it will get here by Saturday.

I knew Yeston wrote the STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL stuff because various tunes have ended up in fake books I've owned through the years.
Is MBarnum impossibly lost in Venezuela yet?

Didn't get lost at all yesterday, JMK. But I still have 3 days left.
-
My breakfast was just delivered by room service and it is yummy. Hopefully they remembered to send up DECAF coffee this time.
-
I still have not made it over to Amoeba Records, but am hoping to do so later today after I have lunch with Jewell Lain (Crash Landing, Suicide Battalion, Three Blondes in his Life).
-
Good Afternoon!
So far it's been a very grey/gray day here in Manhattan. Some light drizzle now, but we're supposed to get some more significant rain over the next 24 hours. We shall see.
-
In other news, I'll be seeing the new play, Sons of the Prophet (http://www.roundabouttheatre.org/offbroadway/sonsoftheprophet/about.htm), this afternoon at Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre. My friend, Santino Fontana, is in it - as well as Joanna Gleason. I'm really looking forward to it.
-
And speaking of said matinee, I guess I should get ready to head out for the afternoon.
Laters...
-
I'm up, after a good night's sleep.
-
Happy Anniversary to our very own Skip and FJL.
-
The funniest play about human suffering you are likely to see....
Have fun DR JOSE.

Something we haven't seen for awhile. ;D

Happy Anniversary to our very own Skip and FJL.
Thanks, Bruce!

Happy anniversary, FJL and Skip!

It is very overcast, and rain is predicted for tomorrow.

Mercredi evening greetings! Richard and I have had a delightful day here in Paris. We slept quite well, me 'til 8 and him 'til 9, and had a nice breakfast in the hotel's cave-like basement. We boarded the red on/off tour bus at the Musee d'Orsay at 11am and rode until it reached the Louvre. Got off there and walked back to our hotel for a "rest stop" and a nap for Richard. Then, we went around the corner to Cafe Voltaire for lunch at a sidewalk table before walking back to the Louvre to pick up the red bus. Rode the tour to the Grand Palais and got off to walk to the Rodin Museum, which our guidebook said is open until 8:30pm on Wednesdays. Well, the book was wrong and the museum had closed by the time we got there. So, we regrouped and window-shopped through 7e until we reached a shop whose sandwiches, salads, and pastries appealed to us. We bought a tuna baguette, a carrot salad, and a tarte framboise to share for dinner and brought it back to our hotel. We are in for the night to use the lay-of-the-land we acquired today to plan our next 3 days.

Joyeux Anniversaire to DR FJL and Skip!

Dear BK:
Why is it I always come up with a question on Thursday and then forget it by the next Wednesday?
This is actually a known syndrome: The I Came Up With A Question on Thursday But Forgot It By The Next Wednesday syndrome.

Back from the four-mile jog and shall now be on my way to a lunch with friends.

I did survive Zumba this morning......whew!

DR ELMOORE
how close, if it all, is the recording of the score under the title A White House Cantana to the original verson.
I also have other recordings that may or not use the original orchestrations.
Bruce Hubbard (Seena from For You, For Me)
Judy Kaye (Duet For One & Take Care Of This House from 2 different recordings: Broadway Showstoppers & Where Or Where)
and three songs on Leonard Bernstein Revisited which I pretty sure do NOT sue the original orchestrations

McGlinn recorded "Duet For One" and "President Jefferson March" with hte original orchestrations. He clearly loved the sgow; in his estate there were about five different complete performances on CD. "Take Care of This House" as a concert songappears to be the original orchestration as well.
I do not know the score and its many changes well enough to comment on its reincarnation as "The While House Suite." I know there are cuts in the score, but I believe it uses the original orchestrations by Hershy and Sid.

Elmore, I would recommend going to Amazon.Com and search the Kindle Store for free books. There are a lot of classic books that are available for free, and that way you can play around with the book and the Kindle without worrying about screwing things up and deleting the book.
Click on this web site for some fairly helpful instructions.

Why? Did you stay in the hotel all day?

I have skimmed through LOST HORIZON twice now and have yet to find this supposed Kellerman-Kennedy reprise of "Living Together, Growing Together." There IS a reprise of the tune, right after the Fertility Dance (oy),but it's choral. Interestingly, the underscore in two Kennedy-Kellerman scenes is indeed "Living Together," and one scene (right before Kennedy's irrigation system is revealed) has a rather abrupt edit, so perhaps there was a reprise there.
Yes, these are the sorts of things I spend my day trying to figure out.

Back from a fun lunch. In a couple of hours I'll go help pick up the camera equipment. I'm not going to get much writing done today.

I saw this sign the other day.

From Cilla:
My new cable phone has a cool feature. Voicemail to email. So if someone leaves a message on my home phone it's sent to my email as a voice file. Cool.
Very cool! We briefly had that when we had Sprint. It was the only thing I missed about them. We tend to forget to check if we have messages & could really use that option.

This made me chuckle ;)

Yes, these are the sorts of things I spend my day trying to figure out.
Here is Sally Kellerman and George Kennedy's track of the reprise of Living Together, Growing Together. It has the lead in scene and then clips from the movie married to the deleted track.
I believe the scene was cut out even before the roadshow release.

So beautiful, Jane!
-
Thank you DR Laura. I captured some autumn leaves for you.
-
Ooooh. Beautiful! Thank you!
-
Good Evening!
I really liked Sons of the Prophet. Yes, it's a bit "young and hip", but there's also a great heart to it. I was particular proud of my friend, Santino Fontana, who's the lead actor - even though Roundabout only seems to be promoting Joanna Gleason who's role is very much a supporting one. In any case... I thought it was a very sneakily powerful and moving play.
-
Beautiful pictures, DR Jane!
-
Dormez bien, CL Ginny.

The hikers all liked this.

Beautiful pictures, DR Jane!
I agree!

Thank you DR's Jose & Kevin H.

Chicago Follies, With Brent Barrett, Caroline O'Connor, Susan Moniz and Robert Petkoff, Opens Oct. 12 (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/155432-Chicago-Follies-With-Brent-Barrett-Caroline-OConnor-Susan-Moniz-and-Robert-Petkoff-Opens-Oct-12).

Reminds me, I need to let my friend know I will not be in Chicago this month. My friend lives in Israel & I met her last year at the same time. She was visiting her cousin & will be doing so again.

Coolio!
Maybe we could all meet for coffee or dinner on Friday afternoon?

Well, I'm leaving work now. Theater Artists Olympia (TAO) is having our monthly board meeting and it's going to be very...interesting. ::)
There are a couple of people who are very gung-ho about wanting to be involved (and that's a good thing), but because of work, family and/or other obligations, they can't actually be available when they're needed (and that's not a good thing). So, a "discussion" will be happening tonight.
I just plan to just watch, listen and stay out of it. :-X

It's about time!

Here is Sally Kellerman and George Kennedy's track of the reprise of Living Together, Growing Together. It has the lead in scene and then clips from the movie married to the deleted track.
I believe the scene was cut out even before the roadshow release.

That is exactly where I mentioned there was an abrupt edit, and you will notice the underscore there is "Living Together."

I believe this is correct - and therefore it would not have been possible to put it in this DVD - nor should it have been in this DVD if the filmmakers cut it prior to the film's roadshow release. I'm sure they got bad information from the producer of the laserdisc - and even when they knew it wasn't there, that info somehow didn't get communicated to whomever wrote the packaging copy.

Camera and lighting equipment has been picked up so we're now ready for our two shoot days.

And this just made me smile... and laugh out loud.... ;D

Dear BK:
Why is it I always come up with a question on Thursday and then forget it by the next Wednesday?
Dear BK: Why doesn't Laura throw caution to the wind and ask her question when she thinks of it?

Strange day for me. Saw a new doctor who immediately took me off insulin. Back to the pills. Here's hoping these work better.

Sounds wonderful. According to the CD for Mack and Mabel, it's O'Connor. But then again, the side of the CD says the show's name is "Mack and Mable." So what do they know?

I'm worn out. Night, all.

I think this misconception may have come from a 10 minute making of short that showed behind the scenes filming include the fertility and a moment or two of the living together reprise. About 8 minutes into the clip

And now...
I seem to be in "morning mode" lately, and that's actually sort of a good thing right now with all the prep work I'm doing right now for The Boys from Syracuse. So... Since I have some music time scheduled for tomorrow morning...
Goodnight.

I had a very interesting night tonight. I spoke at the American Reformed Church in Orange City, IA about federal immigration law. I presented for 30 minutes and they asked questions for an hour. It's the first time I've had a group genuinely want to know my opinion on the current system, what I think the reform should be, how they can help etc. I loved it

Here's the obituary for my former boss, Nick. I've pretty much decided not to go to the service. I might change my mind if I find someone to ride with.

Are the pills a different form of insulin, or a different drug? (Hoping this is good news.)

Finished with my viewing. Shall now do some work, write notes, and then try to get to bed early as I must be up no later than seven-thirty. The good news is that I did indeed figure out how to cut and paste the LACC script, so that should move along quite well from now on.

I should say. They have a long ways to fly. They can't afford to get lost.

Just got done watching the blu-ray. What an AMAZING job! I can't believe this is the same movie. This has to be one of the best HD transfers I have ever seen. It's almost as if a mint 35mm print showed up at my door today. Full review coming soon. Thanks SO much for putting this out!

A grand day in Paris, DR Ginny!

Got a call from Laurie Mitchell's husband Ron this evening letting me know that Laurie had a heart attack on Tuesday morning but that she is doing well...on Saturday, when she was with Kenny Miller and I at the Hollywood show, she had a slight spell of sudden nausea and we took her out into the lobby and had her sit down for awhile. She got pretty scared as she had never felt that way before. She thought maybe the coffee at the restaurant had just been way too strong, but I suspect she was having some heart problems even then, even though she seemed fine after about 20 minutes or so.
Any vibes at all would be greatly appreciated! She is such a sweet lady!

I visited with another of my interviewees today, an actress from the 1950s. This was the first time I had met her in person and was shocked to find that she is practically destitute. :-[ Well, not even practically, she is destitute.
The poor woman lives on less than $900 a month Social Security plus $180 worth of food stamps. Her rent takes up every last bit of cash money and she has to rely on the $50.00 her brother sends her each month for her and her dog's medicine. She buys the dog human food and goes without, herself. She is thin as a rail and quite frail and She sold her car a couple of months ago just to pay her bills.
I took her to lunch at The Sportsman's Lodge, which she loved as she had gone there many times back in the day. Since I had a car I took her grocery shopping and to her pharmacy and on a few other errands. We had a lot of fun, but I just feel so sorry for her. I am going to do some searching on subsidized senior housing for her. I know she would be eligible, but it would have to be someplace she could have her dog as she will not give him up. He is 14 years old and she has had him since he was a pup....and he is one great, wonderful dog! Very sweet and very well behaved... but quite large, so it might be difficult finding a place that she can have him.

Such a sad story, MBarnum.

It just occurred to me that I did not mention here (I did on Facebook, however) that I had a swell lunch with BK the other day. We ate at Mo's in Burbank (this was my first time there). I had what was called a Slamdunk burger which was a burger with plum jelly! Who knew that would taste so good! My side dish was orange cous cous....or something like that...it was also very tasty.
Oh, I ordered my hamburger minues the buns...BK was horrified at the very thought.!
For desert I had a very chocolately cake. It was quite tasty!
I am forgetting what BK had now, but I think he had a burger of some type, as well, but with the buns. As always it was great fun to see Bruce!
