Well, you've read the notes, the notes lost track of time, and now it is time for you to post until the timely cows come home.

Good morning, all! I slept relatively well, and now i am awake and on my first cup of coffee. Most of my day will be spent on the Encores! Gala Finale. Aeound 4:30, I will run up to Symphony Space at 95th Street for a Gilbert & Sullivan concert that will hopefully erase all traces of the dreadful Guthrie PINAFORE from my mind.

DR Jose, your question about anyone liking synthesized strings prompts me to answer that the orchestrator/musical director of the Guthrie PINAFORE must, since its the only reason to account for soem of his god-awful keyboard choices.

I also have to call JoAnn today about this Kindle.

I should have clarified my question from yesterday re: Chitty Chitt Bang Bang.

Four of the alternate audio tracks also have the songs sung in that language (as opposed to the dialogue in their respective languages and the songs in English): French, German, Italian. Spanish (Castellano)

Re the soundtrack of First Nudie Musical.

On the inlay card:

Wondering why you didn't credit yourself for I Don't Have To Hide Anymore & Wade Crookham for Orgasm?

Also didn't Debbie Gravitte also dub Susan Buckner in Honey Whatcha Doin' Tonight?

Sorry I didn't answer your question DR ELMORE.....no I do not have an all region DVD player.

As to your post RE:the Post Office.

My MP3 player left California on October 5 - via first class.....and there have been NO updates since then.

And thanks to DR JOSE for the link to the HMS PINAFORE comments.....whew!  At least the for the most part, the comments put the blame squarely where it belongs.

As to your post RE:the Post Office.

I looked at those returned checks yesterday.
  1. I mailed my health insurance premium, due Aug 7, on July 22. On August 3, I mailed my final  health insurance premium before Medicare kicked in via Priority Mail.
  2. On Aug 5, I canceled payment on the July 22 check and hand delivered a replacement.
  3. When the Priority Mail check hadn't arrived by August 9, six days after mailing it, I canceled payment on it and mailed a second by Priority  Mail to a different address I was given when I hand delivered the payment.

From the returned check, it looks as if the check from July was denied payment on Aug 25, nearly a full month since I posted it. I have no idea when the HMO mailed it back to me, but it arrived on Oct 13.

Not sure when it will be released, but my guess is either late this year or early next.

I didn't credit Wade because all the records of who sang what are gone.  I'm pretty sure it was him, but we had so many people doing so many voices I just felt it was better to be safe.  Debbie did several voices in the film, but I only wanted to credit the one.  Funnily, Susan sang - not sure why she didn't sing her own verse, though.  Diana also sang several roles - her own, Mary La Rue, and a few other assorted bits.

I'm at the Times Square Visitors Center, taking advantage of the free Wi-fi.   I had a smooth flight to Newark, took the bus to Bryant Park and walked to my hotel on 31st Street.

I decided to try the Book of Mormon lottery and of course lost.  But...I then went over to the Wicked lottery, and after about 25 times trying over several years, won the lottery!!

I did see the show, but it's been several years, so I'm really looking forward to it!

Kevin, great news about the Lottery.

We are having Ginny's famous "tuna glop" for dinner except that I put in chicken instead of tuna.

Years ago Ginny posted a recipe for tuna noodle casserole that she called tuna glop. It's easy and tastes good so it's become a part of the Morelli/McLaughlin household menu.

It's been a beautiful day in Manhattan, sunny and cool.

I balanced my checkbook (who even does that anymore) and got the casserole ready to bake later.

I'm listening to

Dewi Griffiths (http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/radiowales/sites/presenters/pages/dewi_griffiths.shtml)

At 4pm

Beverley Humphreys (http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/radiowales/sites/presenters/pages/beverley_humphreys.shtml)

comes on with Showtime. I will put the casserole in the oven, listen to Beverley and then we will eat dinner. Anthony wants to watch the new Mystery on PBS this evening.

I believe Bear Manor is the publisher which once contacted me and offered me a contract to write a Farmer biography, but they couldn't do hardbacks, didn't want to include glossy stock for photos and most of all didn't like my idea of combining a traditional bio with my own journey to find out the truth about what happened to her.  :)

DR elmore - The Kindle is much easier to set up than you think. Have you watched the Set Up videos on Amazon? They literally walk you through the process. Just start one up and follow along. It should take no longer than 5 minutes - probably more like 2 to get it set up and certified.

No. I have the Blu Ray
I checked the audio choices before I posted.

To get to the other language choices you go to SETUP. Choose AUDIO.

The first choice is English 7.1 and if you scroll to the righ this is the order of the languages: English Stero, Spanish 5.1 Digital, Porutguese 5.1 Digital, French 5.1 DTS, German 5.1 DTS, Italian 5.1 DTS,  ??? 5.1 DT, Spanish Casetellano 5.1 DTS, and I assume Eastern European languages in mono (I think) Cestina, Polski (Polish?),  Thai (Guess) and Turkish (??)

I must say Bear Manor is not really to my liking - I don't like the look of their books.  No slight to Druxy, who has a good relationship with them - this is purely an aesthetic comment.  They are, like many publishers today, basically self-publishing without the charge and with the use of an editor (I think I'm right about that).  They don't take returns and therefore cannot get in most bookstores - that isn't even a problem anymore, however, since brick and mortar is going the way of the dodo bird.  I just wish they put out a higher quality product, even as a paperback.

Tuna casserole is one of my favorite "comfort foods."  I can't remember if I ever made tuna glop.

Yes, JR, add one more initial to yours and you have the headliner.  :)

That is a shame.

And I've been spending the past hour or so on YouTube watching some "South Bank" shows on...

Sweeney Todd (http://youtu.be/-WyVSaXbPYY) - Great footage of the first London production with Dennis Quilley

And...

Stephen Sondheim in 2010 (http://youtu.be/Pa646nfBeY8)

Denis Quilley was a wonderful man. He was also the original Candide in 1958 in London. When I met him, he had stories about Hellman.

I'm stll on my Encores! orchestration so I may miss the G&S at Symphony space. I've also not heard from Jo today so there's been no Kindle aid. DR Jose, you're MR Techno - have you any Kindle experience? Perhaps we could make a date this week?

DR elmore - The Kindle is much easier to set up than you think. Have you watched the Set Up videos on Amazon? They literally walk you through the process. Just start one up and follow along. It should take no longer than 5 minutes - probably more like 2 to get it set up and certified.

Otherwise, if you'd like to meet tomorrow afternoon...

Videos? They have videos? I do not function well with gadgets, yet I can transpose a score to any key and do square roots.

Tomorrow would be great, if it's late afternoon: I've got a trip to the McGlinnventory, then a stop at Encores! before I get home.

Back from a bite to eat.  I'd planned on making tuna sandwiches today, but then just didn't feel like it.  First I went to the Studio Cafe, a jernt I've been going to from the beginning.  I've been there at peak hours, off hours, all kinds of hours on every day of the week and I have NEVER not gotten an inside table right away (they have a large patio, as well) - but today?  Nooooo - every table filled and people waiting outside - at TWO-THIRTY.  I know it's Sunday and people behave weirdly, but I've been there on Sundays at that time before with nary a problem.  So, I turned right around and went over to the Eclectic Cafe where it was the same story.  Why, you'd never know there was a troubled economy and these two jernts are not what you'd call inexpensive.  So, I went directly next door and tried the new place that I've been wanting to try - Soul Dog, a tiny jernt that serves hot dogs, fried chicken, collard greens, and the like.  On Sundays only they do chicken and waffles, like Roscoe's - so I had a breast and a waffle.  While not quite reaching the joys of Roscoe's it was very tasty and very filling, even though one fried chicken breast and one waffle with syrup come to less than a thousand calories.

Good Evening!

Well... I think The Boys from Syracuse is/are in my fingers. Alas, whoever copied the score for me, ended up not copying the proper(?) front and back of each page starting at Page 50. Consequently, I've been dealing with some really awkward page turns since some passages were obviously laid out as facing pages instead of over a page turn. But at least the pages are in the correct order! ;)

I could have sworn some DRs had already posted the links to the set up videos on Amazon's site? Hmmm... In any case, you really should be able to do it yourself. And you should set it up yourself, since purchasing and downloading books to your Kindle basically follows the same process. So, in the meantime, go to Amazon.com, then:

-Mouse-over "Kindle" in the lefthand columm, then click on the link for "Manage Your Kindle".
-At the bottom of the lefthand column, you'll see "Kindle Support". Click on "Getting Started Guide".
-The "Getting Started with Kindle" page will come up.
-Breathe.
-Then just start reading the instructions.
-Breathe again.
-Then click on "Watch Video Demo" for each step.
-Repeat as necessary. ;)

*Just think of it as following a score one measure at a time. It's all a sequence of events that come one after the other. And just like in music, if you read too far ahead, then, well... Don't. ;)

Well, they're almost the same chain. Carl's Jr. parent company bought Hardee's a few years ago. The menu at Hardee's is basically the same as Carl's Jr. now, and Hardee's now uses the star logo that Carl's Jr. does.

Lar, there are some videos at Amazon about setting up your Kindle. Perhaps they will help.

Kindle Set Up (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200375510)

I would offer to help but I have a Sony. I don't know that they are that different  but who knows.

If you haven't yet charged your Kindle I would start there since it can take 4-6 hours to charge the device.

I did have a good editor on the 2 books that I've done for them, and they have assigned an editor for the new Introduction I'm writing for the Rathbone reprint.

Hi--I had a great time at Wicked!  The front row was fine and sure worth the price ($26.25)!   I had seen it before but had really forgotten some of it.  The two leads were wonderful.  The Wizard was played by the actor (I think it's Tom McGowan) who played Kenny, Frasier's boss at the radio station.  I thought the role was a good fit for him.

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes!

I feel like I got absolutely NO sleep last night. :P I've been sleeping on a futon with a metal frame.  It is not very comfortable at all.   But this is the last night that I have to sleep on it.  We leave for home in the morning.  I have had a great time with my cousin, but just not a great bed.  My mom and niece are sleeping in a proper bed and are very comfortable.
