Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both actual and factual, and now it is time for you to post until the factual cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: KINE!
-
And a very happy haineshisway.com birthday to Jason - not sure if that's our Jason or another Jason.
-
Jrand, don't know if you've gotten your Chitty yet, but it was scanned in three times in some city that you do not reside in - we're trying to get the USPS to figure out exactly why their head is up their rectal cavity.
-
Good Evening!
One good rehearsal and one good post-rehearsal meal later...
-
A Very Happy Birthday to Our Very Own Errant and Truant DR Jason!! ;D
-
And, yes, we did have a fun and funky waitress at Fred 62. Her name was "Talia", and, yes, she was named after Talia Shire. -Which, of course, led bk to tell her about David Shire. Etc., etc., etc....
-
What a coinkydink! Last night (just a couple of hours ago), my friend Margo and I went to Red Robin and like BK, I had fish and chips for dinner. And another coinkydink, we had a funky and funny (and flamboyant...if you know what I'm sayin' ;)) waiter named Brandon. It turns out that Margo and Brandon sort of knew each other. He used to work at a local Hollywood Video (before it closed) that Margo went to and they recognized each other.
-
Thank you MR BK.....I was about to write today that I have not received it....
And I will be at work when the mail arrives today, so I could not report until about 7 p.m. tonight.
-
It has been my experience.....when a car slowly drives around the block.....it has been my experience that the driver is merely looking for a place to park.
-
Happy Birthday, Jason!
-
Today is a work day.
Oh well.

TOD:
The Franklin Cover Up - a book about the Franklin Savings & Loan scandal in Nebraska and the child molestation and Satanic worship cults that were all connected to it - it seems.
Dueling Harlows - the story of the two film biographies of Jean Harlow that were filmed and release within 30 days of each other way back in 1965.
-
Interesting reading about GODSPELL in yesterday's Filichia on Friday.
-
Happy birthday to Jason!!!
-
Morning all.
That is all.

good morning to all

Off to work. Oh well.

And The Song Of The Day Is: COW COW BOOGIE

Saturday morning greetings! We had a fun Friday evening with Rob and Mary Linda. First we met them at the Verizon store where Richard and I were shopping for iPhones for each other and we thought Rob would be able to ask astute technical questions and explain the answers to us. His only input was to ask Siri "What is the meaning of life?" - for which the Apple engineers have devised a cute answer. Jason, the salesman, was much more helpful and we are now the proud owners of all the peripherals for the iPhones that are being shipped to us.
-
We then proceeded to The Meadows for Richard's belated birthday dinner. Nothing fancy, but always a good meal in a convivial atmosphere. We were concerned, though, at how unbusy they were for a Friday night.
-
We all came back to the house for the kids to return some of my stuff that had migrated to their apartment and to pick up 5 folding chairs and a folding table to use for the friends' Thanksgiving potluck that they're hosting this evening.
-
Today I have the Michigan/Nebraska game to watch and we have to prepare our guest room for my cousin from Atlanta to stay in tonight on his way to his Dad's in Pittsburgh.
-
TOD - on my Kindle I'm reading Cutting for Stone, the book my group discussed when I was away in October. I'm also trying to catch up on my magazines...
-
Off to help with a church yard work day. I sure hope folks show up. Two of us have been doing it all so far.
-
Good morning!
-
Good morning, all! I slept late and I've been dealing with a rude message from this Amazon vendor whose package was returned to me yesterday.
Today, my friend Joseph Rubin is coming over to listen to God knows how many of the 102 Victor Herbert songs we recorded, so I've got some cleaning and tidying to begin.
DR cillaliz, I'd go to the debate with you; it could be to be one of the funniest shows ever, watching these bigots and morons display their stupidity and lies.

Currently, I'm not reading anything, but I just ordered copies of:
THE ELEPHANT TO HOLLYWOOD by Michael Caine
and
PIECES OF MY HEART: A LIFE by Robert Wagner
:o
BTW: I think this whole new flap about Natalie Wood's death is a bunch of bulls**t!
This captain wants to sell books and the press is going crazy over the story because it makes good copy.
Everybody knows there was a fight that night. Natalie was drunk. She was upset. She slipped and fell off the boat.
End of story. Let her rest in peace. These vultures should stop feeding off of her grave.

DR Ginny, I had meant to ask you if you and Richard were going to see Jeff Harnar and Shauna Hicks with the Middletown Symphony. I think I scored about half of that original concert.

I've been listening to LOST IN BOSTON 2, and I think the problem with my most detested track isn't my work but the god-awful conducting of it.

DR Elmore, when they first announced that program I thought for sure we'd go. But we were waiting to see if we'd be invited to an out-of-state wedding in our extended family (we were not, apparently) and then my cousin asked if he could stay here tonight. Guess it was just as well I hadn't bought tickets ahead of time...

Recently read The Islanders by Christopher Priest. I usually enjoy his novels which cleverly confound reader's expectations but this was hugely disappointing with almost no plot, which ultimately seemed pointless.
The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber. Reading this following the recent BBC TV dramatisation.

I'm up, she of the Evil Eye is here, and I shall be jogging shortly.

What an awful idea.

I suspect that will be the general consensus, DR Doug R!
-
Yes, I know it's sacrilege department: I've been listening to the three volume Bernard Herrmann at Fox set co-produced by our very own Nick Redman, and I must say as much as I love, love, love Herrmann, he is one of the most consistently unmelodic film composers out there. So I'm wondering (maybe BK or RLP knows), was there ever a pop hit culled from a Herrmann score? I couldn't think of one off the top of my head, but I am probably just not remembering.
-
A pop hit? I think not. Nat King Cole recorded the theme from Marnie, with very bad lyrics. And one of the themes from Vertigo had lyrics but to it, but I don't know that it ever had a recording. Russ Conway, pianist, recorded the love them from North By Northwest in the single hardest to find 45rpm record I've ever searched for. It was impossible to find when it came out (and believe me I tried, from every record store in LA), and obviously more impossible after that. I finally found it in the mid-1970s going through a stack of film-related 45s at some used record store.

Back from part two of banking, picking up a couple of packages but not the one I was expecting, and am now home until I am on my way to rehearsal.

The Cornhuskers are gonna have a long trip back to Lincoln - Michigan 45, Nebraska 17 - Go, Blue!

All last week I suffered thru leg tremors, or cramps, or whatever you want to call them. They would start as soon as I would go to bed and would continue most of the nght. I got very little sleep on several nights.
My doctor's office said that it could be from dehydration. I thought about it, and although when I am at work, I drink a lot (or alot) of water, but I never think about water when I am at home. My friend, Leslie, thought I meant I didn't drink water at home because I didn't like the taste. so, she brought me a bottle of MIO. I tried it, but I don't understand the point. I like water. This MIO made me think of that other type of Kool-Aid that they used to sell back in the 50's. Was it called FlavorAid, or something like that. It just tasted like slightly flavored water.

I didn't go to Bernice's funeral today. The other third of our trio e-mailed me this morning that she had a lot of snow. She lives down in Lacey or Olympia, or some place in George Country. I just didn't feel comfortale driving out to Lakewood by myself.

Boy, am I having fun!

Taco Bell's new commerical is for their Triple Steak Sandwich. And they are using the music of Vesti la giubba. What does either one have to do with tacos?

Whatever the reason for reopening the Natalie Wood investigation, Lana Wood is now stirring the pot, as well.

Jennifer is there a historical reason why Canada celebrates Thanksgiving in October?

Being Saturday I had the Big Breakfast of bacon, sausages, egg and tomato. Lunch was a moderate slice of ham and bread. Evening is Chicken Kiev (to put me in mind of my trip to the Ukrainian city in a few months). I snacked on some nuts and biscuits and had my usual copious mugs of tea and coffee - as soon as I finish one I start making another.

Sorry to hear that DR TCB. I occasionally get cramp in my leg in the middle of the night but it only comes on after I've been drinking (no - it doesn't happen every night!). Drinking causes dehydration so that may well be why I get it. It certainly is painfull.

Mt friend Joseph just left. He arrived about 12:15, we listened to about 90 minutes of the Herbert songs and broke for lunch. Then we returned and listened to about two more hours of the 5-hour set. By that point the postman had arrived with the first edit of the new recording of EILEEN, which I recorded in Dublin in August. So we then listened to all of it.
I kept suppressing my tears; it's so damned good, and the orchestra and singers sound amazing. I really love the folk on the recording and miss them all enormously.I am very very proud of all of us.

There were a lot of dogs on the hiking trail today & the majority of them were overly friendly & rambunctious. As were were leaving the trail, a narrowish path where we prefer the dogs leashed, there was a dog that kept banging into me and zipping in & out of my legs. Had the dog been any bigger I would not have been able to keep my balance. First I told the owner I get knocked down easily. When that didn't work I explained when I fall I break. At that point the owner finally came up and grabbed his dog by the collar saying "The dog isn't very well behaved. Something is wrong with him." ::)
Had I been able to control my temper I would have suggested he keep the dog on a leash until he got to the wider part of the trail.
Keith & I both think the guy looked a bit on the slow side as he walked up.

Michigan, DR TCB!
I have my Michigan seat shirt on.
You have a Michigan seat shirt?
LOL. It is so old it looks like it could be a seat shirt. When Craig was in high school we drove to Ann Arbor to visit Bryan & didn't realize how cold it was. We had to go shopping for sweat shirts. Craig got the warm Michigan shirt with a hood & I got something else. Long ago I confiscated Craig's shirt & no long have mine.
Ohhhh, sweat shirt. Sorry, I am a bit slow today (and I haven't even taken any pills)
Hmm, maybe that is the problem.
Well, I did type seat instead of sweat.
True, but I just couldn't figure out what you really meant.

Three years after the election, and we are still arguing about Obama's birth certificate!!!
Amen!

Amen!
In one state, the Republicans are trying to have Obama's name taken off the Primary Ballot because he isn't a U.S. citizen. Get a life!

elmore, did you say that there was a audio recording of CHRISTMAS UP YONDER?
-
Just before Thanksgiving, and now we get a lettuce recall due to e. coli.
-
I don't usually eat green salad at Thanksgiving, but when I was growing up, my Aunt's roommate use to make wilted lettuce salad for me whenever we celebrated at their house. I loved it.
-
Every salad I make turns out to be wilted lettuce salad.
-
We get TWO new episodes of COPS tonight!

Jane, the other night you asked after I signed out if I had thought about moving out of my apartment. In October, I signed a new one-year lease on my apartment. In exchange, he gave me a big discount on my October rent. It would be pricey if I tried to break that lease.

People come, people go..............
-
It is very cold this evening, but after tonight, it is supposed to warm up and rain for the rest of our lives.

Let's get off this page.

I've watched COPS. I think it's time to finish the 3rd DVD of LARK RISE TO CANDLEFORD.
-
I am loving the CCBB cd release.
I especially like the Leroy Holmes tracks. I have that LP....the song and storybook was vividly illustrated with beautiful cartoons, and the voices and the orchestrations were so great.....and now it's on CD!!!!
Thanks to MR BK and Kritzerland......even though the competition is intense.....for me this is the RELEASE OF THE YEAR!!!

The trouble with marijuana is that it causes people to make friends with people with whom they wouldn't normally be friends. (A truism I heard in the dentist's office a couple of weeks ago).

My newest crown temp just popped off. Sigh. Will re-visit the dentist Monday to have it re-applied.
-
Where is Laura today?
Aww, you missed me.

The butterfly club had a party today. They held it at my church. Lots of setting up and tearing down. The Goldstein Sisters were a great help. I mean that.

Today while doing yard work at the church, I felt my back go "sproinggggggg."

BACK VIBES FOR DR LAURA!!
-
Saturday morning greetings!
Which iphone are you getting? I'm thinking about getting one when my new every two is up on dec 4
-
Vibes to Laura's back....well unless the sproing was a good sproing...
-
It was not a good sproing.
-
I'm beat. Good night.
-
I've been doing a number of things, nothing I planned on and trying to make some candy to take home for the holidays. The almond bark went well, the seasoned pecans....that look like pecan brittle, didn't brittle. The sugar just crystalized around them. They are ok, but not very good. I'm not sure what I did wrong
-
Then many many vibes to Laura's back. Hope you can get some sleep
-
Enjoyed Liz Callaway, DR elmore!
-
DR Cillaliz, Richard and I are each getting an iPhone 4s, his is black and mine is white. I can't wait - this will be my first smart phone!
-
Good Evening!
I'm currently back at Bru Artisan Coffee + Tea after another very good rehearsal and another very good meal with bk at Fred 62. This time, it was just a trio of us at Fred 62: myself, bk and Damon.
And now... A Day Off!
:)
;)
-
DR Cillaliz, Richard and I are each getting an iPhone 4s, his is black and mine is white. I can't wait - this will be my first smart phone!

DR Jane - It took me a while (too) to realize that you meant "sweat" instead of "seat". -For all I knew, maybe they made special shirts out of college football stadium cushions. ::)

I was looking into upgrading my iPhone 3GS to the 4S a few weeks ago. I don't qualify for the lower upgrade pricing until the end of December. However, if I just wanted to get another 3GS, it would be free for me. ??? Hmmm...

I just finished watching HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, Part 2.
The problem with these movies is that, if you haven't read the books and you just watch the films as they are released, you tend to forget who is who and what is what.
Half the time I didn't know what was going on and/or why it was going on.
To clear up my confusion, I guess I'll just have to go back and watch all the movies again in a marathon.
Or. maybe not.
-
All last week I suffered thru leg tremors, or cramps, or whatever you want to call them.
DR TCB - Have you been tested for a Vitamin B or D deficiency? Or potassium? A lack of those can cause cramps. My brother, Jay, used to get severe(!) leg cramps. His doctor "prescribed" a Vitamin B supplement as well as half a banana with his evening meal. It fixed his problem right away.
-
made a nice English breakfast this morning - Vixdad went to Meyers of Keswick and picked up some HP Sauce so we had some broiled tomatoes and mushrooms, eggs bacon sausage bacon, toast tea and homefries
-
we did not have lunch
-
nor did we need it
-
I received an advance copy of a film containing Nazis and Jews, so Betsy of course is hot to trot to watch it. :) Night, all.
-
Back from a good rehearsal, dinner and shall now try to relax just a little bit. New episode of Outside the Box goes up after midnight.
-
DR Cillaliz, Richard and I are each getting an iPhone 4s, his is black and mine is white. I can't wait - this will be my first smart phone!
...And a few hours after they returned from the Verizon store, they were never seen again...
;D
Well, the phones are being shipped, so you'll at least see me until they arrive!
-
then the Vixter and I went to out church's annual craft fair - I bought a pair of hand made crocheted blue booties for the baby shower I am going to tomorrow ---one of my (younger!) friends is about to become a grandma
This is the first a baby shower I am going to attend, where I am going to be sitting at the old ladies table.....guess it's time to get used to it
-
Lest I be thought a cheap old lady I hasten to add that the booties are merely an addendum to the previously purchased gifts
-
My cousin Perry arrived safely from Atlanta about 7pm. We had pizza and apple pie for dinner, visited for a while, and now everybody is crashing for the night. He's off to Pittsburgh tomorrow to spend the week with his Dad and Richard and I are off to Lima for the day.
-
then the Vixter and I traveled to the phone store to get the Vixter a new SIM card - hers went the same way mine did a month a ago
-

Just don't let them prescribe quinine! That's what Richard's brother was given and it almost killed him.

what is the difference between the Nook Color and the Nook Tablet?

Front page story in today's Cincinnati Enquirer:
Symphony is Tweet Music to Their Ears (http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20111118/ENT03/111190315/Symphony-tweet-music-their-ears?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|News)
Discuss...
Well...
I think the idea of "Tweet Seats" is a good one. At the very least - or most - it makes sure that those people who are prone to not turning off their i/smartPhones, are seated in an area where it won't bother other patrons. And, for better or worse, it fosters a relationship between the audience and the Music Makers. The New York Phil and other orchestras already do sort of the same thing when they have live broadcast of their concerts. They will come up with a #hashtag so that people listening at home can talk about the concert with other like-minded individuals. Carnegie Hall worked a very a successful campaign with their Spring 4 Music series earlier this year where they featured five regional orchestras. It allowed the hometown fans to chime in about the concert and the music. Even The Metropolitan Opera "live tweets" their broadcasts now.
Is it an ideal set up? No.
Is it a way to attract and engage new listeners and patrons? Yes.
*WQXR just ran an campaign for "OBEY THOVEN" (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/31/business/media/wqxr-calls-on-beethoven-to-help-lift-its-profile.html)

what is the difference between the Nook Color and the Nook Tablet?
Um... I think there's a side-by-side comparison chart at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/nook/379003208
From what I can tell, the main additional feature of the Tablet is the built in HD Hulu and Netflix streaming capabilities.
-
Thanks for your insights, DR Jose.
'night!
You're welcome, DR Ginny. Goodnight.
-
And... I believe I'm going to make my way back to Glendale now.
I want to get a little more work done on my charts tonight, and I have to do some laundry too. And then I can have a true day off tomorrow. :)
Laters...

Where has George been today?
I've been home, then to work for a couple of hours, then I thought that I was supposed to work concessions for a local production, but when I got there, the house manager asked me why I was there. "To work concessions," I say. "Didn't you get the e-mail saying that ushers and concessions weren't needed?" :o "No," says I and he told me that I could leave, so I left.
I've been home watching TV and YouTube clips. :)

Is it Amy Adams that was involved in WHAT IF? She has certainly gone a long way. Wow, working with The Muppets.
Yes, she's that Amy Adams. She was wonderful in "Enchanted."
