Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the Do and all it entails, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - instead of going to the Do they're going to the Moo.

And the word of the day is: LISSOTRICHOUS!

Merry and Happy Night Before Christmas To All!! ;D

Well, I was just chatting with DakotaCelt on Facebook (all I'll say is that she is no friend of 3D) and she wanted me to share a Soap Roundtable that she was involved with. Click HERE (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/silas-kain/2011/11/29/soaps-roundtable) to find out what people think of the cancellation of the soaps...or something like that. What's cool is that you can download the MP3 and listen to it at your leisure, which is a good idea, since it's 2 1/2 hours! Anyway, that's my post for Dakota. :)
-
There's also a Save the Soaps campaign at http://sudz.tv/. If you'd like to help, Dakota asks that you click on the "FAQs about the Coupon Campaign (http://sudz.tv/content/explanation-coupon-campaign)" link for more info.

And now, I must wrap some gifts before I go to bed. I'm going to my sister's house at noon to finish wrapping some things, then we're off to the parents' house.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Early morn on Christmas Eve with oatmeal, cinnamon, raisins, a banana and walnuts and a cup of coffee. No one else is awake.
-
It turns out The Artist is playing at a couple of theatres on Long Island. I shall alert Mr. Morelli to that fact and we may see the movie out here after all.

It's a Wonderful Life. What else?
-
Not much else to report. We had a great lunch yesterday with our dear 81 year old friend. We stopped at Cost-Co with him and then we came home to a wonderful roast chicken dinner.
-
Driving off to Wales now to spend Christmas at my sister's house.
-
Today we will have Roast Beast with potatoes and string beans, crescent rolls and apple and cherry pie. We will exchange gifts later in the evening. Tomorrow we will spend at Anthony's Uncle and Aunt's with other relatives. I shall also call my brothers and sisters (since I'm the only one out of Minnesota I have to do the calling) and that's our plan for two days.
Bye for now.

happy holidays to alll
-
I will be interested to hear what DR BEN thinks of The Artist....which will probably get a booking in Indiana about three weeks after the DVD is released.
-
Working today....but the World of Wisdom is only open until 5 p.m. ... which is a good thing.

Scrooge with Mr Albert Finney.....I like everybody except the Ghost of Christmas Present.....that guy is terrible....and his song isn't so great either.

White Christmas of course......except for the major "conflict" which could be resolved if somebody just spoke up.
-
Happy Christmas Eve Day to everyone.......and of course SUCCESS to MR BK for his party.....I will be home before it starts!
-
I am enjoying these episodes of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour......someone in the casting department had a good eye for nice looking men actors.....and last night's episode had a rather special interest subtext......if you can stand the commercials....and you can watch the first interaction between Don Chastain and his caller, you may see what I mean.

Watched SCROOGE starring TCB as Scrooge last night - what a wonderful way to get rid of some of the foul mood I've been in much of this holiday week. Toby saw me crying uncontrollably and tried to (he thought) comfort me,* but I explained that these were good tears, tears to remove bad things from the system. And so I'll try to remain through Christmas Day. Thank you, dear TCB, for your wonderful talent and for sharing your great gifts as an entertainer with audiences.
* Dylan, on the other hand, smiled as if to say to Toby, "See if you can get a treat or two out of this. Giving treats always makes him feel better"
-
LOL DR FJL.....I was watching it, too!
Mr Albert Finney is so impossibly handsome as young Ebenezer.... It is always a movie that gives me a tear or two as it goes along.
-
Way back in 1992, I played Scrooge - too many lines!! But it's a great part! With my friends Brad and Adeline (who passed away in 2010) - and with Marley.....not sure why the costumer thought people would be wearing denim in Hell.... :P
-
And now I am off to work. Oh well.
-
Christmas Eve greetings! A few more cooking and household preps today before we meet Mary Linda for a late lunch/early dinner and a service at the church she and Rob have been attending. Paramedic Rob has to work until at least 6pm, so he and she should get home about the same time.
-
Good morning, all! I've been up for some time and the laundry is in the washers. My morning will be finishing the laundry, tidying up a bit and wrapping the few gifts I have to deliver on tomorrow's peregrinations.
I want to spend the afternoon workng on the interminable Fashion Show - will it ever ever end? - and the evening watching DVDs. Last night I ended up watching BRIDESMAIDS, which amused me t no end.

Per DR TCB's request, here is the Christmas table runner that I bought in Miltenberg, Germany:
-
And here is the runner adorned with our traditional centerpiece. The crystal candle holders on each end were Richard's gift to his mother from his stay in Germany 40 years ago.
-
Beautiful, Ginny.
-
DR Kerry could tell you that I am just lucky to get any food onto the table. And at the same time would be a really good year.

I am making spaghetti sauce in the crockpot, and I just boiled the pasta for the tuna noodle pasta.

My favorite, too.

And the table is set for Christmas dinner:

I just (about a half hour ago) walked 3 miles on the treadmill in anticipation of the food we will eat for dinner.
I will do the same tomorrow morning in anticipation of the all day food feast.
And on Boxing Day we will see The Artist ($9 before 3pm and a Senior Discount for our 81 year old friend) and then engage in more eating.
I must walk. I must walk. I must walk.

Beautiful. What Time Is Dinner?

Wow. That was neat. I just saw a fox trotting down the street. Then it jumped onto the neighbor's block fence like a cat, and went into their backyard. Never saw that before.
-
Beautiful. What Time Is Dinner?
Thank you, DR ArnoldMBrockman! As for dinnertime, it's hard to tell. Richard and I are to call Rob and Mary Linda when we're leaving Lima after church. The four of us will synchronize our watches and then someone will notify my Mother as to who will pick her up and when. I suspect we'll gather around 4, open presents, and eat around 5:30 or 6.
-
I'm up and have finally got out of Ye Olde Bed. I got up just before nine but just stayed in bed being lazy. I'll jog in about ten minutes.
-
Day 10: It's Christmas Eve! Lots of pots and pans clanging and banging in the kitchen as my mom prepares stuff to take tonight to my Cousin Debra's and stuff to serve for Christmas Luncheon tomorrow.
I'm taking a fruit bowl to my Aunt Doris' tomorrow e'en...plus a plate of grilled asparagus. They won't know what to make of grilled asparagus. There may be some noses upturned or out of joint at the mere sight of grilled asparagus, I expect. I hope they'll tolerate my grilled asparagus.
;D
Day 9 saw me reneging on my Day 7 vow to not drive more than 10 miles in any direction for the remainder of my visit. I drove my mom (and myself) to Batesburg yesterday for a Walmart visit. It's a huge Walmart, for a podunk town the size of Batesburg, but it serves quite a few surrounding communities. The trip was about 40 miles, roundtrip. It went without a hitch...my braking (power brakes) was complimented at one point.
My Aunt Doris came over in the afternoon and we played a few rounds of SkiBo.
I have to tell you...it's "hot" for Christmas. The house is at a consistent 70 degrees even though the thermostat is on 60 degrees. Weather outside is very pleasant...coolish, but still in the 60s during the day. The house is brick and well-insulated, so heat doesn't escape.
I'm so tired of eating stuff. Can you imagine it? So much stuff. Of course, some of it has been my mother's fried chicken....and my mother can "fry" some chicken!!!
The day has gotten away from her for some reason...she's way behind the power curve in getting things done. She's usually up and at 'em at 7 a.m., but she didn't get up and get ready to make her appearance (this being her hair-washing day) until 9-ish. She went to bed late for her...10 p.m. is normally her bedtime, but she was wide awake and doing stuff on her computer when I went to bed at 10:30 p.m. I suspect she wrapped presents for a bit after that, too. At any rate, I believe she keeps thinking it's two hours earlier, and she's not used to having so much to do on a Saturday.
Lest you think I'm not lifting a finger, I have asked...and asked... and asked...if there is something I could do to help. "Stay out of my way" is her response.
-
A very merry and festive Christmas Eve to all and one of you and yours.

A very Merry Christmas (Eve) to one and all!

If you have a stainless steel sink and/or faucet, you can also rub your wet hands and fingers on those too to neutralize the odors. It works for onion hands too. -I do find it kind of "funny" that you can buy stainless steel "soap bars" for the same purpose.

As for the Topic of the Day...
"A Christmas Story"
"Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol"
Strangely enough, since we were required to watch it in high school, I still can't really enjoy "It's A Wonderful Life".

I forgot "Mr. Magoo." Great cartoon.

In other news...
I got up early this morning - and 9:00am is "early" for me lately - and proceeded to get ready for a few hours of visiting and quasi-last-minute Christmas shopping.
My first stop was Sidewalk Cafe to have Christmas Eve breakfast with Edwina, a.k.a. The Greatest Waitress in the World! It was a great visit. It was a lot quieter this morning than when I stopped in last weekend, so we got to chat for a bit. She has about a month left of work before she goes in for her knee replacement surgery the first week of February. This will be her second set of "new knees". It turns out that she started selling some "Sunday Funday at The Sidewalk Cafe" t-shirts she had designed to help pay for her surgery and other expenses. I had wanted to buy one, but she ended up giving me one for Christmas. She also treated me to breakfast this morning too. Needless to say, I will be slipping a few extra dollars to her daughter, Marissa (a.k.a. The Keeper and "Hider" of the Funds), next week. And most likely the week after too.
It was very heartwarming to see a couple of her other customers/regulars/"children"/"babies" - I'm one of her "babies" - buying t-shirts this morning and sharing a Christmas hug with her while trying to discreetly pass on some extra funds to her. She really is a Great Lady. It's hard to believe that she's 64! She still looks as good and as beautiful as she did when we met 25 years ago. The biggest sign that we've both gotten older: her daughter, Marissa. I still remember Marissa coming into the restaurant after school, and doing her gradeschool homework at the bar between the lunch and dinner shifts. -And then she started working at Stella's when she was in high school. And now she's 32. Time really does fly. But in a good way.
-
Merry Christmas Eve, all. And have a wonderful launch into Christmas Day.
-
Hmm...
I can't tell if it's my MacBook, the board or the internet doing weird things right now. I'm getting a "web page not able to load" message every now and then. Well... I guess I'll just keep posting for now.
-
After breakfast, I then proceeded to run a few errands. The main post office in Richmond was surprisingly not mobbed. I also decided to head to one of the malls for my annual "Watching of the Last Minute Shoppers". The mall was not too bad either. I walked around a bit, and picked a few stocking stuffers for my nieces and nephew, as well as some practical presents for my parents. Then I decided to check out Target, which was also surprisingly not too busy. In fact, there were cashiers standing at the "top" of the lines saying "I can take you right now if you're ready". And then once I realized that my eyes were glazing over, I headed home.
-
And now I need to wrap some presents, so...
Laters...

I used to do all my Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. I started doing in mainly because we always got paid on Christmas Eve, so there was money in my account. I woudl get up very early and get to the Mall by 6:00 or 7:00 eat breakfast until the stores opened, then got in and out with my list, and I would be heading back home by 9:00 a.m.

I hate writing piano parts! So I've stopped for the night. I have to decide on what I'm giving my goddaughter's mother tomorrow: which of the two books will I give her?
I ran to the market for milk and a few items. When I was told the amount was $35.72, i made them add it again. I still lost. Oy!

Fun day DR JOSE.

For once, everything is ready before people arrive. I think that's a first. Naturally, my neighbor across the street is having a partay, too. They did it last year and I really REALLY don't like these people - they used to do their partay on the 23rd - always, for years, ever since I moved here. And they only have people over with those humungous SUV things and they take up ALL the room, and this year, unlike last year, they started their partay an hour earlier than mine. I must say, they suck in just about every way, whether it's leaving a Fiat parked in the same spot for twelve weeks (until I called the traffic department - they ticketed the car and would have towed it and I think the oafs understood that and moved it), or their kinfolk who park in front of my house with some decrepit old trailer from the 60s, or just lording it over the nabe. Bah, humbug! Guests in ten minutes and I'm ready to EAT!
-
I guess I am going to miss the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at church.
-
First service has come and gone. Kids were cuuuuuttte!!

Huge attendance, probably the largest I've seen in my years here, we had to cart out a lot more chairs for people.

I hope everyone is busy enjoying Christmas Eve or Hanukkah parties.

I got a lovely package of DVDs in today's mail. One of them is the North Carolina PBS broadcast of rhe North Carolina School of the Arts recreation of the original production of OKLAHOMA!, so I've been watching it. It's absolutely glorious: the orchestra plays the new cleaned up score beautifully, and the cast - for a professional student cast - is quite good, especially Kyle Guglilmo as Curly. The Laurey looks great but I'm not crazy about her acting. Ado Annie and Will Parker are good, and the recreation of deMille's choreography is truly fantastic.
It's a nice Christmas gift.
-
And...
I'm back from Christmas Eve Mass. My parents wanted to go tonight since everyone else - my brothers and their kids (the grandkids) - will be arriving later in the day tomorrow than previously thought. It was a nice service, although, the music director really needs someone to pull back the levels on the timpani microphones(!). ::)

And it was my first encounter with the new version of the Roman Missal. I'm not sure I like it. ;)

However, the church did provide a nice, laminated "cheat sheet" with any new words and verbiage in bold print. That helped.

Good evening, gentlemen. We are having a stag party at HHW.
-
(Peeks in)
Stag party?? I'm out of here!

Whoops, wrong guest list for that cake.
-
Bedtime for me, I guess.
-
Merry Christmas Eve everyone.
-
G'night!

LOL!!!
-
I've been in and out, getting things set up for tomorrow. Santa has been here and filled the stockings and now I'm going to bed - early call tomorrow!
-
That list would require me to think DR TCB!!!
Time for MARGIE!!!
Have a great party MR BK.
I am still dealing with my swollen eye....
-
Merry Christmas everybody!
-
Watching MARGIE but can't get into it tonight. I'm recording it so I can watch it after tomorrow.
-
I'm working my way through DR TCB's quiz. Up to #10...
-
Uh-oh--George Bailey has never been born.
-
Well...
I think I'm done wrapping the presents. Now to finish up a few cards... and to pick up the various scraps of wrapping paper.
-
In the meantime...
I've been listening to "A Broadway Christmas" which was produced by our esteemed bk...
I had totally forgotten about that version of "We Need A Little Christmas" that Lynette Perry performs. Groovy!
-
And now I'm on to "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I know it's a great Christmas album, but, at this time of year, I'm once again reminded at just how great a JAZZ album it is.
-
Vince Guaraldi was a wonderful jazz composer/pianist. Love all of his stuff!
-
I think I'm going to open a chocolate orange...
-
I had too much sparkling pomegranate juice
-
No mix, no worry, DR FJL.
-
I think I'm going to open a chocolate orange...
On a related note, somehow over the course of the past couple of days I've managed to accumulate four bags of m&m's (Dark Chocolate, Pretzel, Chocolate Mint & Cherry Cordial), two bags of Hershey's Kisses (Caramel & Cherry Cordial), a box of Mallomars, a bag of Iced Animal Crackers, a package of Tim-Tams, and assorted stocking-stuffer-sized boxes of chocolate truffles. Hmmm...
-
This Glade Plug-In I have in the hallway outlet has a very pleasant smell but it is not spruce.
-
Maybe you want to work some fresh fruit in there, DR Jose.
-
Tch! I give DR TCB a perfect set-up line for Christmas and he's no where to be seen...
-
And now...
Well...
Harvey Fierstein posted this clip on Facebook, and... well... If anything could give someone a Christmas nightmare, this might be it...

::)
-
Happy Xmas eve!
-
Just happened on this Christmas With The King Family special on a local PBS channel. The last clip was sort of creepy--carolers who perform during a home invasion.
-
Tina Cole Is still the only member of the entire King Family that I can recall. All the rest just look like Lawrence Welk Show extras.
-
Y'all are lucky I'm posting on my iPhone or I'd be posting a couple of It's Christmas With The King Family clips.
-
And...
I was just going through my receipts and noticed something "wrong" on one of the receipts for a gift card I bought. I just checked the balance via phone, and it looks like someone had put $5 on it and then placed it back in the display bin. Christmas bonus?
-
It's Christmas!!!
I better get to bed before Santa gets here. G'night...
-
And since the clock just struck 12:00 midnight here on the East Coast...
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
-
Well...
This creature is about done stirring for the evening. I've tidied up my room, and even got a head start on sorting the laundry that I'll most likely be doing in the morning. Since we went to Mass earlier tonight, and since my brothers and their kids aren't due to arrive until after Noon, I can sleep in. We can all sleep in. A little. Until then...
"Merry Christmas to all, and to All a good night."
-
The Do is Done and was the best Do we've ever had - much more in the notes, which I'll write in a few minutes. I spent the last hour cleaning up.
-
And now I'm on to "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I know it's a great Christmas album, but, at this time of year, I'm once again reminded at just how great a JAZZ album it is.
We listened to that at my parents' house and it's my sister's favorite Christmas album!
-
All our gift giving was done tonight at my parents' and all gifts have been opened. I got some very nice gift cards, the new Blu-ray of "West Side Story" (#917 of 50,000!) and the complete series of "Space 1999"...and a couple of other things. :D
-
Well, I hate to do it...no, I really do...but I must go to sleep now. Everyone's going to my sister's house for brunch and she'll be making home-made cinnamon rolls.
Good night, all and A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS (or alternate holiday of choice) TO EVERYONE!! ;D
-
But...
-
...before I go...
-
...since...
-
...we're...
-
...so close...
-
PAGE SEVEN MERRY CHRISTMAS DANCE!!
