Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in the home stretch, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently in the home stretch, too.

Good morning, all! Today I am back to Encores! to help Joshie finish up MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG for Monday's orchestra reading. Before I arrive there, I have stops at the bank and the post office.

After that, I've got plenty of work here. Yesterday I adapted Roy Webb's 1926 orchestration for "The Pipes of Pansy," which he scored for PEGGY-ANN, for the DEAREST ENEMY orchestra, and I'd like to finish up my perusal and revisions for the score over the weekend.

Ths morning, around 6am, I had a ghostly experience: a woman's voice spoke German - I think it was German - into my ear. This is the second occurrence of my hearing a person speaking close to my ear in the past two weeks. Since no one living has spoken into my ear in the past fifteen or so years, it has to be a ghost. While it freaked me out at the time, I can't say I'm frightened. Curious, yes.

More coffee.

Last night we watched Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier frolic in Pride and Prejudice and then we started watching a short which was also on the disc, Eyes of the Navy. We didn't finish watching it. So much for 1940s war propaganda films.

We did, however, enjoy P & P.

DR TCB - no one needs to be out in the weather you are describing.....not even that little bird in that tree.

We are expecting major ice storms - but not until after 7 o'clock this evening - I hope.

I finished transferring the box of videos.....and then I realized that I didn't have SHOWBOAT or PICNIC or our original DON'T DRINK THE WATER.....all of which I included on my excerpts Video from about ten years ago.  That means of course that I have those videos.....there must be another box of tapes somewhere in the closet.

I shall look for it on Sunday.

Betsy's very elderly grandmother (I think she was pushing 100 at the time) used to tell us she heard voices "from the other side" in her nursing home before she died.  We didn't have the heart to tell her it was the people in the room next door.  :)

I've been spending ages today trying to figure out why, all of a sudden, eBay is not accepting my photo uploads. Browsing on Google I see that many people have had the same trouble after installing Internet Explorer 9. And what have I done recently? Yes - I installed Explorer 9! I've now gone onto a different browser - problem solved. Why do they do this to me?

It was a revelation when, a few years ago, I played the original A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC and PACIFIC OVERTURES vinyl ocrs on my turntable.  I didn't realize the warmth and texture that was missing from CDs.  Perhaps it's just some kind of sublimal, underlaying noise of the stylus as it rides the record groove, but there is a fuller richer ambiance in the music filling the room.

I probably sound like one of those posers on the DVD boards that BK and DRs JMK and Ron post on who talk about picture grain, but I do hear a difference.

The problem with the two CDs mentioned above was/is simple - bad mastering.  Mastering by idiots.  When something is mastered well and when the goal is specifically to get what's on the master tape to sound like what's on the master tape the CD will be better than the LP.  Listen to Promises or Sugar or any title we've done.  From the very first CD we ever did that was my goal - to not lose the analog warmth.  But most mastering engineers don't know what they're doing.

Add "On the 20th Century" to the list. On vinyl, the music of that overture gets under your skin and just tingles, building through some incredible pieces. On CD, even though they added music that didn't fit the LP, the sound throughout is flat and dead.

So Do I. The One Thing That Is Not Mentioned About LP's Vs CD's
Is:

When A Performer Or Producer(Or Both) Planned An LP There Usually Was A Distinct Sequence Planned. (How One Should Listen To The Complete Work)
Today ,We Can Randomly Program A CD To Play In Any Order We Choose. I believe We Miss A Great Deal When That Becomes A Possibility.

Did she survive the camps or with help from someone?

Right now, my flight on Delta back to LGA is still listed as "On Time". However, I did notice that the American Airlines flight to LGA scheduled around the same time was cancelled. Additionally, my friend, Brendan, the pilot/violinist, is currently dealing with a 2-hour delay out of Newark to St. Louis for some unspecified reason.

In other words, your Travel Vibes are much appreciated.

Did she survive the camps or with help from someone?

Before anyone is allowed to move out of the Seattle-Tacoma area, they are forced to go through a reprogramming where all sunny days and snowy days are removed from their memory.

My plane did pull away from the gate a few minutes early, but, then as a precaution, had some de-icing (-iceing(b)) done. So, that meant sitting on the tarmac for about 20 minutes before we started taxiing for takeoff.

But we're in the air now, and should arrive at LGA just a few minutes past our scheduled arrival time.

I saw the scariest thing today.  I saw someone biking on a very busy road.

It was 5pm (so it was going to be dark very soon). ANd there has been snow and ice here. And the sidewalks are clear but not at all clear (you can walk but there is still ice, snow and slush). I was so nervous watching this guy. It made me feel sick. He was going on the sidewalk on his bike. He seemed to be doing well. But what on earth was he thinking?!?

This road is very busy. And it was very icy. And he was going up a hill and somehow he made it down (i saw that much). But i literally couldn't watch. IT was so dangerous. I just don't know what this guy was thinking.

Interesting!  Cruises Only sent an e-mail about a sale on Princess Cruises.  I saw one that looked interesting, so just for the fun of it, I submitted a price request based on a single passenger.  I expected the price to come back at 200%, typical of a single supplement.  Instead, the price for one person came back at 240%.  In other words, not only were they not offering a break on the single supplement, but they weren't even offering the sale price for that cruise for one person.

  Yesterday  JOSE SAID

Plan A) When you leave the Marquis Theatre, head west to 8th Avenue. When you get to 8th Avenue, turn right (north) and walk 13 blocks to 59th Street which will put you at Columbus Circle and the Time-Warner Center.

Plan B) Hail a cab, and tell the driver to take you to the Time-Warner Center at Columbus Circle.

Plan C) I can meet you at The Marquis around 4:45, and escort you to the Time-Warner Center.

A will work for me  if we get the bad weather I do not need you do extra walking in the snow-  I can walk back with you after dinner as I plan to park in the neighborhood

The doctor prescribed a new type of lancet to take my blood sugar with. Walgreens forgot to apply the insurance discount and charged me $112. They had to ring up a refund because I was only supposed to pay $35. It just makes me hate the power of insurance companies even more. These are not necessarily prescription items, so you can know that the price is even higher for those just buying them off the shelf.

It's baking at 350 degrees. I was talking with a friend earlier and she wanted to add caraway, too. And she wanted sweet potatoes in there. The original recipe calls for potatoes, but I can't have those. Nor sweet potatoes.

The meat cooked in 90 minutes, according to the thermometer. So, it's suppa-suppa-suppa-time, as Snoopy would sing.

Do you rinse the sauerkraut first before baking?

  yes -

I actually have preferred th stove top method recently

in a very heavy  covered skillet  i brown the port chops

remove from pan  the put sauerkraut , quick cooking rice caraway seeds  and a can of "golden pork gravy" in pan mix togther then layer the pork chops in there so they are surrounded  cover and cook over med heat until   rive and chops are cooked through -- serve with a dollop  of sour cream

My co-workers used to ask me toward the end of the week if Rob's Scout troop was going camping that weekend.  If so, they'd make indoor plans because a Scout camp-out guaranteed that it would rain!

My plane landed at LGA right on time, and then it was just a 15-minute cab ride back to the UES. :)

When I got out of the cab, the smell of Thai food was in the air courtesy of the Thai restaurant down the block. So, I dumped my bags at the apartment then headed right back downstairs and over to Tiny Thai for a late dinner of Chicken Panang Curry. Yummy!

DR vixmom - See you tomorrow. -And there's no extra walking for me if I meet you at the theatre since I have to be in Times Square tomorrow afternoon anyway for a meeting. We shall all coordinate in the morning. *And it looks like the snow will be done falling by tomorrow afternoon, so, hopefully,it won't cause too much "trouble".

I've written about twenty-five pages and what I thought was going to happen has happened - I am flying through the first year of the new record label.  I talk about all the albums briefly and I spent quite a bit of time on how it all came to be, but I'm fast approaching the end of that section, which will lead us into the final two sections.  I now know that the book will not be longer than There's Mel - in fact, I suppose it could be a few pages shorter now that I see the lay of the land.  We shall see.  I'm sure I'll also add stuff in when I finesse tomorrow.

I certainly hope no DNR was applied to these pages.

It's all DNR - that's what memory books are :)

I've responded in your thread about Mockingbird.  Those people on that board are the most insufferable twits ever.

As Betsy commented when she was reading Mel to us on our cross-country trip, you have about the most "fine detail" memory known to Man.  :)
