Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both useful tids and bits, and now it is time for you to post until the useful cows come home.

I've been watching Ian Richardson as Sherlock Holmes in "The Sign of Four". I'd forgotten that he played Holmes in two TV films (the other being "The Hound of the Baskervilles"). He was quite a good Holmes and certainly looked the part.

What I'd like to see again is Roger Moore as Holmes in "Sherlock Holmes in New York" which I can only vaguely recall.

Good morning, all! Last night's dreams included a visit to an elderly Lotte Lenya. She looked good.

This morning around 10:30, I will run down to Encores! to see Joshie my adopted son. hand him some work, and catch up on MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG gossip. After that, I may stop at the Juilliard Book Store and look at some music befire I head home to do some edits on the liner notes written so far. I sent New World Records an email last night asking for a definite word count on notes. A 60-word maximum for each of the 102 songs allows one to say nothing, so I'd like to get some idea of this booklet for the CD set.

DR Jose, I will most likely get one ticket for the dress rehearsal; that's been the practice in the past. My only complaint with the City Center - not Encores! - distribution is that the ones who work on the show end up with the lousiest seats since the good ones are set aside for donors, etc. Since I'm giving them my best work at a discount and it's a big 50% discount on this production because I wanted to help Josh out, my feeling is that all of us working on the production deserve better treatment.

TOD: I get confused as to who comes from which decade but several on my list include Phil Silvers and Sid Caesar among the men, Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball among the women.

I guess Debra Messing wouldn't fit on that list.

I watched a good movie last night, ANONYMOUS.

This is the revisionist history about the authorship of Shakespeare's plays.

Whether you believe the historical accuracy in the film or not, just go with it.  Great script, superb performances and an uncanny CGI recreation of Elizabethan England.

Hmmmm....TOD:

I saw all of my favorite comedians on television.....many for the first time on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Mr Jack Benny, of course, on his television show.
Mr Red Skelton - ditto

Miss Lucille Ball - she stands alone

From the 60's:

Joan Rivers

I will wait to see some other lists......I liked Roseanne's stand up act in the 80's, and a lot of female comics like Totie Fields and Donna Jean Young.....

Oy, did I have a weird dream, one that would crash JR's machine.  :)  It's way too convoluted to go into detail over, but suffice it to say a major part entailed Betsy morphing into Debra Messing (no, I'm not kidding), and then me telling Debra I was leaving her.  That was just the beginning.  :)

The usual suspects--Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Red Skelton, Lucy, Jackie Gleason.  All first seen on TV during my youngen years.

I also love the Marx Brothers.  But while I was aware of them when I was young, I didn't really appreciate them until I was in college.

I am back from Encores! I stopped down on the third floor to say howdy to Rob Berman and Peter Lawrence, the stage manager, and I got to see the end of Act One: Beth's "Not A Day Goes By" and a bit of "Now You Know."

Today, I'm trimming the notes on the 19 lieder on Disc 1, writing stage band charts for ROBERTA, nd going through all sorts of angst over everything.

My concern about MacLaine coming to DOWNTON ABBEY is the build up that she is going to be a foil for Maggie Smith.  Does this mean we are going to lose Cousin Isobel to the war?

T.O.D.

Red Skelton, Harpo Marx, Totie Fields, Burns and Allen, and The Three Stooges.

We always watched The Red Skelton Show, because I loved his comedy and because my mom liked to see / hear her friend Art Gilmore.

I will say the funniest night club act I ever saw was Buddy Hackett.

I actually got to see The Three Stooges in person.  Naturally, by the time I saw them it was Curly Joe (Joe DeRita), but it is still a great memory.

Back from knitting class, where I graduated from the beginner class and signed up for a new class and new project.  Also finished my first beginner project and got some help on my second beginner project.

Good for you!

My mother has been popping up in a lot of my dreams over the last couple of weeks.  I imagine it is because she was killed in January.

Doesn't this happen to you every year?

I have had the song "Somewhere In Dreamland" stuck in my head all day today.  I would blame Max Fleischer for that, but since he is no longer with us, I will have to blame Jose.

I don't know.  It may.  Maybe I am just more aware of it this year.

Jane, when you and Keith went to Alaska, did you go to Denali?

We did on the first trip with Bryan & Craig.  I wish I could return.

On our arrival I booked a mid-day helicopter ride & a late afternoon/early evening raft trip.  It is amazing how much you can do in half a day when the sun never sets.  In spite of being very air sick the helicopter ride was amazing & we had, by far, the best rafting trip we ever went on.

Our helicopter pilot made an unscheduled stop on a glacier in the middle of nowhere.

I am glad that our pilot did not make an unscheduled stop.  I doubt I would have gotten back in the copter.

LOL DRTCB.  It was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Plus it gave me a break, and some relief, from the motion sickness.  You would have to have gotten back in if you wanted to return to civilization.  Not only weren't we supposed to have landed, we should have headed towards Mt. Everest, not away from it.  Our pilot wanted to follow the sun.

I hope you don't mean Mt. Everest, or your pilot was really lost.

I'm trying to remember where I left off on my recent trip.  Just got it, a couple from the beginning of our tour on Bora Bora.

Everyone on the tour seemed excited when we stopped to watch large crabs disappear into big holes dragging flowers, sticks, etc. down behind them.

The bus stopped at Bloody Mary's a well know tourist spot.  Though the restaurant was closed for renovations it was open for us to walk around.  Outside are signs with all the famous people who have stopped there.  Inside is the good luck board where visitors have left money with messages on it.  Many were from honeymooners.

It was a good stop on a rainy day.

Day two on Bora Bora we took the tender to the private beach.  It was a small beach & there was just a little bar with a few snacks, which was plenty.  I also took a couple of, incredibly delicious, bran muffins from the breakfast buffet.  It was also the first day the sun was really shinning.

We went snorkeling & saw a sting ray  8).  After the sting ray left Keith went out to relax on the beach.  I stayed in for about another half hour before joining him.  We had a snack & went for a walk.

Sick, but I was with a bunch of travel agents who I had barely met.  I was determined I wouldn't throw up in front of these stangers (who I was going to be spending four days with).  When we got back from the ride, it turned out that everyone felt as sick as I did, but no one was willing to be the first one to throw up.

Keith then relaxed on the beach while I went back into the water intending to snorkel again.  We both forgot to reapply sunscreen, plus we had forgotten a few areas.  I still kick myself as I had two tubes right there on the towels. ::)

The water at the beaches is shallow for a very long time.  As I was taking my long beautiful walk out to swim (no hat or sunglasses) I stopped to say hello to a family we became very friendly with.  The man & I ended up talking for close to an hour.  That is when I became severely sunburned as did the gentleman I was talking to.  While we were burning from the reflection of the water, Keith was burning on the beach.

The only good thing is while I talked I was just far enough out that I could tread water & exercise my arms & shoulders which made them feel great.

Female sting rays are so cool.  When I swam with them in Grand Cayman, it was one of my all-time greatest experiences

;D  My family was very embarrassed, and there were a few other people we didn't know with us.  When I pulled my headset off to heave into the bag I felt better.  I don't plan to take anymore helicopter rides either & my family definitely never wants to go with me on one.

We just finished watching TAKE SHELTER.

It's a good movie, but it could have been much better if it was 20 minutes shorter.

Michael Shannon is fantastic.  He should have received an Oscar nomination.

Someone on the CastRecL mailing list posted THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hp6aOVnOMnY) YouTube clip of someone named Mari Lyn singing "Summertime."  I think she gives Wing (http://wingmusic.co.nz/) a run for her money!
