Good morning, all! I slept quite well, with the mal and female ghosts putting in an appearance again, him around midnight. I heard about five words, very low and very quiet, but they were words. At 2:26 this morning - I know because I turned on the light and checed the clock - the lady said "Hi," and freaked me out. Unlike Ebeneezer, they haven't offered to show me my life.

This morning, first thing, I've got a barber appointment, followed by a stay at Toyland, while I wait for a delivery. DR Ben's spouse Anthony is stopping by to pick up a couple of recordings he will convert to CD tracks for me so it will be nice to see him. My bag is packed with work so I don't get bored waiting.

TOD:
DVD: Doris Day/Gordon Macrae films from Netflix, several operas
CD:  Rodgers & Hammerstein overtures, Guy Haines, Readers Digest operettas, Offenbach
  VCR: New porn!

But DR Jane is right. I would not bring something that is bought. I want to make it.  Anyhow i'm going to try a peanut butter/cream cheese pie. It has chocolate drizzled on the top. And oreo cookie crumbs as the base (i like all those things i named). It also has some dessert topping mixed in (i guess to give it some height).  Hopefully it will be good.

I am listening to Marcos Valle.  I just ordered the new box set of his 1964-1974 period which evidently has tons of bonus tracks.

Digging down through piles of review material, including a bunch of music biographies from Eagle Rock.  Currently watching a rather good piece on Queen.

In somewhat surprising news, the brouhaha over All Quiet on the Western Front is actually quite subdued.  Probably because the biggest complainer is busy arguing with BK on the TKAM thread.  :)

The Newt song is from When Pigs Fly. Whoop-De-Doo was before Pigs. I Love You Elizabeth Taylor and the Nancy Reagan skit  (among others) come from Whoop.

I saw Pigs just after it opened and LOVED it. It played at the now gone Douglas Fairbanks Theatre on Theatre Row. Whoop-De-Doo played at the Actor's Playhouse on 7th Avenue in the Village.

Next wil be the composer/lyrcists tribute and/or compilaton recordings. After that will be my instrumental and jazz recordings.

I do not plan to upload all my cast albums. I will chose the ones I can listen to with repeated listening. Others just the songs I like.

Hey, Bruce and the sweet Hainsies! I am sorry to be so very E&T. This film is truly wrestling me to the ground! We had a screening at BMI in NY on Monday for friends of the director and producers and have so many comments and critiques it made our heads spin. Everyone seemed to have their own agenda (many knew Doc Pomus personally) and then there is the exec producer, who just wants it shorter and other producer who wants it longer, and the director and I in the middle just trying to tell the story. We're trying to get it into 2 festivals so I'm rushing to get the film done, not even knowing yet if we're accepted. I'm looking forward to having my life back in a few months, and making trips to NY for more than a day. (Makes me feel like a sailor on shore leave.) At least I had a brief bit of socializing with Ben and Ant in Jan.!

Thanks for all your birthday wishes; you guys are the best!!  XOX!!

Those of you who know my history may realize this refers to DangerMouse and Penfold. My avatar is a picture of the suave and debonair DangerMouse himself.

You can also follow Beverley Humphreys. She is

@worldofmusicBBC

It's the title of her new Sunday evening show which replaces Showtime. It's a long story. Some of you may get this information in an e-mail blast later this weekend as well. Please excuse the duplication.

Doug, how does Cleopatra look?  I'm eagerly awaiting the Region 1 release.

It looks and sounds superb with remarkable detail, well up to the quality of the Blu-rays of BEN-HUR and THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.  I found it a bit of an annoyance that the Entr'acte has been placed at the end of the first disc instead of the beginning of the second (I contacted Nick Redman who has drawn that to the attention of Fox so maybe they can change it for the US version).

After reading Nick Malgieri's book on cakes a few years ago, I just started making my cheesecakes in extra-deep cake pans - which, as it turns out, are called "cheesecake pans". If you cook and cool them far enough in advance, it's very easy to turn them out - and you don't ha to worry about water seeping into the (springform pan).

Some folks cook their cheesecake like flan...in a pan of water.  This allows for a uniformity of cooking.  (The pan holding the cheesecake is set into the water.  A springform might leak if there isn't a proper fit/seal such as might be the case with a much-used one with dents).

None of my recipes call for this, but they do recommend the springform pan.

I do a bain marie, or water bath, to cook my flourless chocolate cake in. And I've always wrapped foil tightly around the springform to prevent the boiling water from getting in.

This conversation is making me hungry!

Thanks for explaining the water.  I once read to put a pan of water into the oven, on the rack under the cake, to prevent cracking.  It didn't work.

Actually, BK, if your show on Sunday is at 8:00 p.m.; it should be after the Super Bowl.  The game is scheduled to kick-off at 3:30 PST; and even allowing for the extended half-time show with Madonna, I would think that the Super Bowl should end by 7:00 or 7:30.  Now, whether some people might be too drunk to attend the show after watching the Super Bowl is an entirely different story.

I have too much housework to do tonight. Cleaning and cleaning and cleaning. I don't want to come home next week from the hospital to a messy house. I'd never get any rest.

In other news, this morning's Oregonian has an article about debris from the March 2011 Japanese tsunami reaching our shores--next year!!

There has already been some things washing up on Vancouver Island and the Washington coast.  Some of the larger pieces probably won't arrive until 2014.

I do have a Costco only 5 minutes away. And i do have a membership. And i have actually tasted their cakes before. They do actually make some different stuff. And it is very reasonably priced.

Does this mean the person who is bringing the potato chips has to make them at home rather than buying them from a store?

I'd read about that, too.  I saw a report on TV (or maybe on-line) that said that people should be respectful of the debris, that there will probably be a lot of personal items...AND there was concern about bodies making the journey. :-X

I have finished entering fixes, doing additions and deletions - it all kind of evened itself out so I didn't really add more than a page overall.  I may still add one little postscript to one little section, but I'll do that quickly.  I'm just waiting for muse Margaret to call back so I can read her the five or six new paragraphs.  Once she's okay with those, off it will go to the proofers, hopefully this very evening.

There is great techno-stress in our household.  The only device that can pick up a wireless connection from our AirPort is my MacBook - neither iPhone nor Richard's MacBook nor iPad will connect.  So we made a Genius Bar appointment, packed up all the hardware, and drove to the Apple Store.  Of course, everything worked perfectly there and all the devices can pick up other wireless networks.  But, back here at home, only my laptop.  Next step is to call AppleCare and Richard has decided to forget it for tonight.

Ginny, we had the same issue here (PC, not Mac).  Simply rebooting the router fixed it.  Just unplug your router for 30 seconds and then plug it back in and you may have a solution.

My brother has a microwave potato chop maker.  It only makes a few at a time though, so I thought it was easier to just buy a bag

I don't know.  The Amazon listing doesn't say anything about it being a limited-time offer, but there have been a couple of other titles that I'd seen at one point for free and later they had a cost. :P

Muse Margaret has heard all the additions and likes them all, so I'm done with my part of the proofing and fixing.  She also reread the last chapter with the cuts I suggested and she was totally in agreement that each of those paragraphs were unnecessary and slowed down the flow to the end of the book.

Sounds good...but only a 1/4 cup of peanut butter?  You'd think that there should be more.  And if you wanted it to be a little easier, you could buy the chocolate pie crust separately.  I've had those and they are very good.  I've never seen Oreo Baking Crumbs for sale as its own product, at least, not here in the US.

Kevin, probably mid to late April if everything goes very smoothly from here on in.  My plan is to start the design work with Grant in about two weeks.  That usually takes a week between the design and proofing everything.
