Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a little Cliff and a little Cole and a little BK, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently doing the Cows Notes.
-
And the word of the day is: TRAMONTANE!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.
-
OMG, What are you doing up at this hour???
-
It's not that bad for me but it's 2 am in CA
P.S. BK is up in case anyone wonders to whom I'm speaking.
-
Meanwhile,
Morning all.
That is all.

Oatmeal and banana with cinnamon and coffee

The King's Speech.
-
It's a "holiday" weekend thanks to those crazy Presidents.
-
We will watch more Duchess of Duke Street. We are almost done with Season 1.
-
We will miss the end of Downton Abby on Sunday because we are visiting relatives on Staten Island and we won't be back in time. We will have to watch it on line because the local PBS stations are not re-running it since they are going into Pledge Week(s).
-
Anthony will do the laundry and I'll come home from work and ride the stationary bike and then we will have dinner. That's our day and I'm sticking to it.
-
Good morning, all! Another night of bizarre dreams, but I only remember the last one which was about a trip frm London to visit my parents, which was more about going home on a college holiday since in my dream "home" was the house where I grew up that they moved from in 1980. Most of the dream was centered on my mother's usual inability to adhere to a schedule, so my last day's plans to take my family to an event were screwed up by her inability to focus or accomplish anything on time, followed by a trip to the airport with a bag fulll of damp laundry since she hadn't done my laundry when I'd asked her to (this is so 1964,65,66!). The only thing missing from this dream were all the rodents and bugs living off her largesse as a slob housekeeper. It was a fraught and unsettling reminiscence.
This morning, I have a trip to the McGlinnventory that I hope will freeze this damned auction and get it off the ground. After that, a stop at Toyland to scan a large score, and then home. Most of the weekend will be used to finish up my taxes for Wednesday.
TOD:
DVD: new Netflix items, some bootlegs, a few operas

If anyone has a hankering for Marcos, I have a stack of the previous releases of all these albums I'll sell for CHEAP. :) Amazing music.

Friday morning greetings! It's a sunny, but cold, day here in SW Ohio - perfect for the errands I have to run.
-
Great Filichia on Friday. I remember when Jerry Zaks overhauled "The Tap-Dance Kid" for a national tour with the great Harold Nicholas as the grandfather. Cast could not have been better. The end was still an unsatisfying sentimentalizing of the book, which ends brutally with the kid doing the Broadway show and becoming a big star and never speaking to his father again though they all still lived together.

We are once again completely socked in with fog--can't even see across the street.

I shall not comment on EITHER of those dreams.
I see a future for you in diplomacy.

I got a response to my email of yesterday morning, and it was from the nice Dr Jekyll who answered not Miss Hyde. Things are good again. As Don Ottavio says/songs? in DON GIOVANNI, Respiro!
Greetings from Toyland! I've accomplished my scans and now I can go home. Things went quite smoothly, easily and breezily at the McGlinnventory. we have a wonderful paralegal, who's great at everything except her knowledge of music and book buying. I have to continually remind her, paper? cloth? condition? and correct her titles. That was my morning.

No, but it has plenty of sugar.

Last night we watched HARRY POTTER & THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART I
Tonight we are watching PART II
Keith was very glad last night when we reached the end of the movie. I hope Part II is better.

I played a wedding years ago by a guy who owned a little Art House movie theater in Portland, and they wanted all movie music for everything. He was a huge James Bond fan, and he entered to the iconic Monty Norman 007 theme, crouched down holding a gun. I kid you not.

I've been up since nine having one annoying phone call after another.

Good morning! Long sleepless night, don't know why.
BK - re: Jeepers Creepers - wasn't that the first CD to have the Kritzerland logo on it?
That's what I was just about to post. Coincidentally, I was looking for some CDs in my garage Wednesday night and I found my copy of "Jeepers Creepers"! I thought that it might've been in one of the boxes that got stolen a few years ago, but it wasn't. If I still had a CD player at work, I'd be listening to it right now.
However, I couldn't find any of the CDs that I was actually looking for...my Manhattan Transfer CDs. :'(
At least, most of them are still available.
-
Well, since we're so close...

Can one of you technical wizards get me to the Forum posts of November 23 and 24, 2009? The column titles those days were Pompadours and Pageboys and Attack of the Muppet People, but I can't see an easy way to find the Forum posts. It's a matter of some importance. Thanks.

Never mind, I think I figured it out.

Home from Toyland! While I was there, another number from DEAREST ENEMY arrived for proofing, so I printed that out and brought it home with me.
Now I need to call the Baltimore Historical Society and see about making a date to visit.

I received some extremely strange swag today from anime label Funimation: a Princess Jellyfish tote bag and a Princess Jellyfish keyring.

"The Molly Maguires" and "Invasion USA / Tormented" have arrived!

BK, I am virtually positive I ordered MOLLY MAGUIRES. Which means I probably didn't.

I apologize. For some reason I read that as pistachio ice cream. Still, they are a sweet nut. Plenty of foods keep me awake at night. It could be a coincidence or this will happen next time you eat them at night. Of course it could be what you had for dinner combined with them ;)

That would be correct - you didn't.

Back from lunch and picking up one package and an important envelope. Termite Man is here banging on walls.
-
This Jeepers Creepers business is really bothering me. I went ahead and wrote about it, figured out where it would go, and adjusted the stuff around it. My only real problem with including it (it's a little over a page of additional material) is that it comes at a point in the book where I made all those cuts because I wanted to really move along to the end. However, having it solves a couple of problems and it's a record producing story so it's certainly germane to the story - I'll read it to Margaret and tell her how it fits in and if she likes it then I'll probably insert it. I really liked the way it felt without it, but the story has one important piece of information - you get that information about ten pages later, but including it in this story makes it more touching.
If I keep it the way it is, then the information on how Kritzerland came to be isn't quite accurate, although dramatically I really like the way that's written. But this is a true story so to suddenly have something that's just not accurate is probably problematic, especially since even people here know that the Kritzerland logo appeared on a CD two years before we actually started the label.

Without my new prescription goggles I might have crashed into someone at the pool today. It was busy until the class ended & I was lucky enough to grab the single lane. I wish I had these goggles in Tahiti, but then I might have had an interesting pattern on my face when this photo was taken.

I found it - for some reason it didn't show up when I first searched it in my saved folder - it's there, which means your album shipped when everyone else's did. I think you know by now there is no rhyme or reason how the USPS gets stuff to people.

So, Michele Bachmann has her panties in a bunch because she thinks "Welfare Recipients Getting Lap Dances A Bigger Issue Than Unemployment Benefits" and all I can wonder is, was she dropped on her head as a baby? is she the offspring of two first cousins? Does the GOP keep her around to make the other candidates look better?

Well, she would shame most dropped babies I know. And kissing cousins is just another Kentucky sport, so don't go knocking our fun. I don't know who is to blame for that. But I want it -- and her -- to go away.

I'm really excited - we'll be releasing our first Fox CD very soon. I have been badgering Mr. Nick Redman about us doing Fox stuff for years - I truly think he's been afraid to do it because he's worried we'll lose money. But we're starting out with a title that simply cannot lose - two titles previously released, but together for the first time on our CD. And the previous releases were quick sellouts and have been oop, one for seven years and one for ten. I think this will go very fast.
-
Speaking of Northern Virginia: BK--just to let you know that a couple of inches of snow are in the forecast for the DC area Sunday. But Monday is supposed to be nice ( the day you're arriving, as I recall).

Exactly. The first few episodes they could probably get away with some ruse, now with the show's success, I can't believe it's that big of a surprise to anyone.

The whole "Don't Say Gay" bill as it's called has been on the horizon since last year. They put off voting on it a while back hoping that people would forget about it but the bill has been resurrected and it's got a good chance of passage. The clip below is from May of 2011 during the initial discussion of the bill

I posted earlier that I have photos from the Jeepers Creepers recording sessions including one with Susan Gordon. If you are interested I can send them to you.

Speaking of Weird Swag Department: We have a new stockbroker, who seems to be extremely knowledgeable and may in fact get us to the point where we only have to work until we're 125, not 150 ;), but he has sent us two extremely odd mailings. The first was a lithograph of the Brooklyn Bridge, with a little commentary about building secure foundations, and then today he sent a totally bizarre parchment lithograph of (are you ready?) William S. McKinley, inscribed with all sorts of McKinley quotes.

I think we have enough photos now. If you have a nice one of Susan and I or me with anyone where I actually look good, you can use You Send It to send a hi-rez version (over 300dpi).

Finished with my viewing. I think I'll put the motor car away, take a shower, and then relax - maybe post the notes a bit early and get to bed early.
-
I saw the rough sketch of the book cover tonight - viewing roughs is rough for me - I have no imagination whatsoever, but I think when this is polished and final it will look really fun. He's captured a BK look and it's fun - Grant thinks so, too. He's going to play with the image tomorrow just to make sure we have enough room for the text - if not, we'll either have him shrink the art or we'll put a box around it - I leave that all to Grant, who has great design sense. The artist wants to add color, but both Grant and I feel we should stay true to the Hirschfeld black-and-white look.

Thanks, John! Our first performance is over and we had a great audience! Probably close to 30 people! The show ran just under two hours...applause and two songs added to the length. I don't think that there were any mistakes or problems at all. :D
