And the word of the day is: HIRCINE!
And the word of the day is: HIRCINE!
And The Song Of The Day Is: THE LONELY GOATHERD
We had a fun evening at Harvey's last night. Large, appreciative audience and the headliner (Ron Feingold) was HIE-larious. Wilson HS asked Betsy to Emcee their Annual Auction this year.
The actual AA ceremony starts at 8:30 - but I think TAR will probably be delayed because it is preceded by College Basketball.....we shall see.
Sorry about the insomnia, Ginny. I've had a spate of sleepless nights lately and know all too well what havoc that causes.
Kerry logged off. I bet he's on his way right now!
I'm still up. Last night, we had another great show with another great audience! There must've been more than 30 or so people! We were told that we would need to sell 125 tickets to break even (that averages to about 11 tickets a night) and I think that after last night, we might actually be there! We could REALLY use a profit-making show.
Sunday morning greetings - again!Sorry about the insomnia, Ginny. I've had a spate of sleepless nights lately and know all too well what havoc that causes.
Thanks, DR JohnG. Richard noticed last night that I looked tired and we'd agreed that I would not accompany him to Lima today. I went to sleep very early last night (before 10:30) and woke up at 2am quite refreshed. I was up until 6, which is when Richard got up. I went back to bed and never heard him leave.
I actually like Billy as host. I find him quite funny most of the time.

Perfect song for BK's theatergoing experience, which leads to a question: In your notes or last night, BK, you said the production mirrored the movie. But did they add the songs from the movie and cut the ones that the movie left out, such as "How Can Love Survive?" I've seen dozens of productions of "Sound of Music" over the years and the more high schoolish ones reshape the entire show to be like the movie, reassigning the songs, bringing in the ones with Richard Rodgers' lyrics, etc. And oh, how the audiences coo with delight.

But how does Betsy the professional comic in the family feel about him?
It's William Frawley's birthday today.
I am sure Mr Crystal agrees with you DR TCB.
I had heard Ms Messing was actually being considered for the red carpet.I am sure Mr Crystal agrees with you DR TCB.
I understand the Academy is going to let the public pick next year's host. The finalists are Billy Crystal and Debra Messing.

Ethel was NOT fat. There, i said it, and I'll stand behind that statement.
DR ELMORE the sun is activating several planets that could cause things.....so there will be some wardrobe malfunctions and trips and falls on the red carpet and during the ceremony this evening....there may even be a wrong name read....causing red faces for many people.Just not during the Oscar ceremony, right? You mean the ceremony at some wedding chapel in Las Vegas.

They aren't going to do that thing that they did last year are they......where five former winners stood up onstage and talked and talked about each of the nominees before they read the winner.....that was awful.....and some of the things they had to say were a real stretch....
I am already tired of hearing "amazing" and "fabulous."
I will not be watching or even recording. I have this book to read. I'm loving the book, however, it is a struggle to read the small print. I'm not used to reading so slowly.
One burnt almond cake!!!
I have my TV tuned to OTRC (On The Red Carpet), also available at OTRC.com. I figured that I would just keep it here, because this on my local ABC affiliate. Their first guest on the carpet was James Cromwell Interesting! He said that THE ARTIST had 68 American SAG members in the cast, most of whom have spent their careerrs in the background for most movies; but all of them having major roles of a lifetime in the film.
People are arriving.....
One burnt almond cake!!!
Lawrence Zaran is one of the commentators on this program. Apparently he and the young lady are keeping us up to date on what is being discussed on Twitter and Face Book. The man is gorgeous, but he is sooooooo gay.

In Hollywood and fashion? DR TCB, you must be wrong.
Where are all the rest of slackers? We can't do this by ourselves.
As the OTHER DR who is sans TV set, I will be watching the festivities online.
DR JEANNE is here! Someone with a Hollywood pedigree has joined us!!!!
I always enjoy DR JRAND's wit on these occasions. (Not that I don't enjoy it at other times, too.)
Viola Davis in green - Vera Wang - but some really funky hair style.
Oh, Tim Gunn. Suddenly Lawrence Zarian seeps very straight.
I think Maya looks lovely.
You know, there is a great disparity between the rabid applause and cheering we hear and the crowd in the bleachers who are literally just sitting there - methinks the sound technicians are adding the cheering as they go. Totally fake and it sounds like a loop, which I'm sure it is.
Mara Rooney was kind of a pill to Robin in the interview.
Each time I watch one of these shows I wonder how many of the celebrities use stylists, colorists, etc. A lovely gown still needs to suit the wearer!

I'm sure that all of them use stylists, et. al.

I'll second that. One burnt almond cake!!!

Who is mother Dolores?
Sweet but unnecessary
Who is Melissa? I don't know any of these actors and actresses and I actually SAW some films last year. Are 90% of the nominees from The Help?
Sweet but unnecessary
Referring to what?
Tina Fey looks nice....but there's another PEPLUM!!! Whew
Is there any kind of dress that Melissa McCarthy could wear that would make her look good? I am not being snarky, I am serious.Something with a peplum? (I'm being snarky.) And I'm not even watching it.
Who is Melissa? I don't know any of these actors and actresses and I actually SAW some films last year. Are 90% of the nominees from The Help?
Melissa McCarthy from Bridesmaids.
And excuse me for living - what is a PEPLUM? As far as I know, a PEPLUM is a sword and sandal film from the 60s.
Sasha Baron Cohen had an urn supposedly with someone's ashes and "accidentally" dumped it on Ryan Seacrest. He was then escorted out.
Nick Nolte looking bizarre in sunglasses.

Sorry I missed that - I am sure E! will replay it endlessly.

A lot of the women are from BRIDESMAIDS
After last night's (Saturday's) show, we had a cast party in the space. Music was played, foodstuffs and liquid refreshments (alcohol and non) were consumed, dances were danced, conversations were had and a fun time was had by all.
The actual AA ceremony starts at 8:30 - but I think TAR will probably be delayed because it is preceded by College Basketball.....we shall see.
This is 12 step site now? ;)
What time does the actual show begin?

I really didn't like that movie, to me it was just women doing body fluid humor.
I agree, except for seeing Jill Clayburgh.Who is Melissa? I don't know any of these actors and actresses and I actually SAW some films last year. Are 90% of the nominees from The Help?

Sasha Baron Cohen should be run out of the business - instead they let him make movies and play roles that good actors should be doing, i.e. his role in Hugo, which was a huge misfire in that otherwise okay movie. And "Sweeney Todd."
Ryan Seacrest didn't look pleased to be covered in ashes (regardless of what they actually were).
I am trying to get caught up with Dexter Season six online. But for some reason my computer is making a ticking noise that comes thru the speakers only when using the speakers. It is not these specific speakers and it used to go away if i rebooted. It is distracting. I wish I knew what to do to fix this. :(turn off the speakers
One burnt almond cake!!!
Oh, Tim Gunn. Suddenly Lawrence Zarian seeps very straight.
I've never heard of Bridesmaids or The Help
Sound is muffled.

So the second is as well, DR Ginny

No, I think that really is his wife.
Anybody mind if I knit?
Billy is done. The writers have failed him totally and unless Vilanch is back there to feed him some decent lines, this is his worst yet. Terrible jokes and no laughs.
Subtle but brilliant work should always be rewarded.
I love how Glenn Close said she wouldn't have done Albert Nobbs without that makeup person - last I looked, no one was offering her many films to do.
I have never heard of W.E.Madonna directed it. It's about Windsor and Wally.

Now for a nice slice of chocolate cream pie. :)

The Circque promo reminded me, has anyone seen Cirque de Symphony? It's the acrobats with the local symphony. I have a ticket for St., Pats day.It played here, but I missed it. Heard it was visually stunning.
Fishsticks?
I thought Chris Rock was funny.
well that was amazing - no idea what it had to do with the Oscars ..... bu it was amazing
I am surprised they aren't performing the best song nominees, especially since there are only 2
And we all know who will win that one.
Does no one think that Glenn Close as Albert Nobbs looks just like Roy Scheider after his awful face lift?I thought she was Barry Fitzgerald come back to life.
Hmmm didn't see Rango. May have to rent it
I'm fading fast.
JRand I am slipping into your camp Billywise tonight
Louis Gossett's gown was GORGEOUS.:D
Watching "None but the Lonely Heart" instead of the Oscars. Cary Grant is good, but the script is a little too cliched. But it's certainly better than seeing someone in black face.

Who was in blackface?
Christopher Plummer ..... I didn't see his movie - did you Cilla?
There were plenty of articles saying Billy Chrystal was when he did a tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. Since I didn't see it ...Watching "None but the Lonely Heart" instead of the Oscars. They are either parents or seat fillers
Or, or, they are actually 60 year old Hollywood actresses who have NOT had work done.
Wow-an entire year of free movies for four!
That's a great prize.
I never heard of Bridesmaids and now I couldn't be paid to see it.
Me, too.I never heard of Bridesmaids and now I couldn't be paid to see it.
I was glad I didn't pay to see it,
Michael Douglas has all new teeth and some work done in the style of his father.
Rob and I danced to this song at the wedding reception...
In somewhat amusing news, I just logged on to Blu-ray to post two reviews and saw that the four reviews posted during the Oscars were for:
2 Headed Shark Attack
Mega Shark v. Giant Octopus
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Zaat
I thought I was back in 1973 with that singer's do.
A Better Life was a really good movieVery powerful. glad I saw it.
I saw Dujardin in one of his OSS movies, the second one, which was set in Rio and was really quite funny, too.
I do adore Meryl. She's one of my very favorite actresses
So, the In Memorium segment this year could include Steve Jobs, but they couldn't include Farah Fawcett last year?
I only missed one. That's not too bad
I do adore Meryl. She's one of my very favorite actresses
Esperanza Spalding
I wonder if i would like the Artist. From everything I see about it, it just doesn't seem like it would be my type of movie. But so many people love it.
Say what you will about Sacha Baron Cohen, his "bit" with Ron Paul is priceless. Priceless.
The beard thing works for Tom Hanks
No, I think that really is his wife.
Poor Viola Davis--everyone said she was going to win.
