Good morning, all! Another night of bizarre dreams: in one I was trying to keep my 10 year-old brother Rand and the Snelling boys in line at a huge movie theatre, in another I was dealing with an outdoor NYPL card caralogue looking up MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG scores for Joshie, in another I was lost on a bus.

In about an hour I will walk down to 54th Street for this morning's band rehearsal of PIPE DREAM. I don't know if I will stay for the afternoon session, but I am looking forward to hearing the score and seeing everyone. I am waiting for another score from DEAREST ENEMY; it's been three days now, but it's the longest damned number in the score and I'm sure it's got problems.

BK, I'm happy last night's show went so well.

DR Danise, have a good day!

For some reason Comcast did not get the check for February's bill - mailed on January 31......so I guess I have to go to the bank today to see if it has cleared.....I guess the USPS lost it or crumbled it up someplace.

I have to convince the check writer that just because it's in her check register doesn't mean that COMCAST got it.

One check written on the same day shows up in our statement we received this week......but that one does not.

As a composer and lyricists

Her Face
Love Makes The World Go Round

two independent songs
(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?" "Mambo Italiano"

As a lrycist

Most of the score from Fanny Girl.

Believe it or night there are songs from Prettybelle I enjoy: Prettybelle, Manix-Depressoves, How Could I Know?, God's Garden, When I'm Drunk I'm Beautiful and I'm In A Tree. (I heard the song first by Bobby Sherman and takes a different take on it He sings it as if he is a cat caught in a tree)

Penniless Bums
The Beauty that drive men

Don't know his scores from Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol and The Dangerous Christmas of Red Riding Hood, New Girl in Town, Henry Sweet Henry (except for the Alice Playten soings) or The Prince of Grand Street to choose a song.

Zach just shared this with me:

O proud left foot, that ventures quick within
Then soon upon a backward journey lithe.
Anon, once more the gesture, then begin:
Command sinistral pedestal to writhe.
Commence thou then the fervid Hokey-Poke,
A mad gyration, hips in wanton swirl.
To spin! A wilde release from Heavens yoke.
Blessed dervish! Surely canst go, girl.
The Hoke, the poke -- banish now thy doubt
Verily, I say, 'tis what it's all about.

It was wonderful to see James Stewart in Harvey when he came to London in 1975. As soon as he appeared on stage he got a standing ovation.

Most of the score to Carnival!  I played Jacquot in a local production about 15 years ago.  It was quite fun!  I even got to play "Love Makes the World Go 'Round" on an accordion at the opening of the show. :D

Otherwise:

Beauty That Drive a Man Mad (the version from the London cast recording of Some Like It Hot)
Don't Rain on My Parade
Elegance
I'd Rather Be Blue over You (Than Be Happy With Somebody Else)
Mambo Italiano
The Music That Makes Me Dance
Penniless Bums (especially the version by BK and the WSMA!)

That's all I can remember.  I have Breakfast at Tiffany's and Prettybelle (and I'm pretty sure New Girl in Town), but haven't listened to them in years.

I've just had the most needless and inane volley of e-mails regarding the cover proof - I am very proud of myself that at no point did I lose my calm or get angry.  The worst thing I wrote was, "I think this is getting needlessly obtuse."  They sent me a cover proof - all fine except the spine, which looked like the book would hold about thirty pages.  I was told it was just temporary until the galley is finished and they have a page count.  I told them they HAVE a page count - it cannot change, galley or not.  That went back and forth for a while.  Also, Grant felt they'd moved the cover image a little to the left so we sent them that note - it's absolutely correct in the files he sent.  But why they'd send me a cover proof to approve that I have no way of approving until the spine is right, is anyone's guess.  Then they said if we wanted the image corrected Grant would have to send a new file - I asked why since it's correct in the file they sent - that's when I wrote the obtuse line.  So, I feel the last two hours have been slightly Kafka-esque.  All seems to be well now and hopefully the galley will be correct on the first try.  They can only screw up the copyright page, which they invariably do, but I made such a deal about it this time, I'm hoping they do what we like.

Academy Award® and Emmy® winner Barbara Stanwyck (Double Indemnity)

4-time Oscar Nominee and winner of a Special Oscar in 1982 "For superlative creativity and unique contribution to the art of screen acting."

And three-time Emmy Winner (Thorn Birds, Big Country and Barbara Stanwyck Show).

One of my all-time favorite actresses.  And this movie is one of my favorites, as well.

Is it the same commentary from the DVD release.  Silivia Stoddard the Titanic "expert" was of the opinion that Bruce J Ismay's name was not used in the 1953 movie because he was still alive.  Maybe she hadn't gotten the news that Ismay kicked the bucket in 1937.

The commentary by Lonzo may be new.....but the Dalton/Wagner comments are dropped in at random and they never interact, so they must have been recorded at separate times.  Stoddard is talking to someone....it might be Schickel.

I am happy with my DVD until someone tells me the Blu Ray is a must have.

Back from a much-needed trip to the grocery.  Between my low fat/low sodium diet and Richard's low carb diet, we're like Jack Sprat and his wife and I've become a real perimeter shopper.

That sounds kind of interesting.  Did you enjoy it or just meet them for lunch?

Topic of the Day:

People

Does Billy Rose know that Bob Merrill claims to have written "I'd Rather Be Blue?"

Today was a good day at work.  Lots of people stopping by my desk to say they had seen the show.  I had so much work to catch up on with being out a week and the day flew by.

Came home to two interesting emails.  One from Angies List--they are getting ready to start the process and the other from the camera man who shot the footage you saw on the show from the local TV station (28).  He wanted to let me know that he saw the show and was very happy for me.  He also mentioned that he would like to do another story on me and follow the progress of the house.  Of course I said "Yes!".  So it seems my 15 minutes of fame will last a moment or two longer.  :)

For JR and TCB:

Los Angeles, CA (March 5, 2012) – Coinciding with the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the famous passenger liner, TITANIC, the 1953 Academy Award® Winner for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay, bursts onto Blu-ray for the first time April 3rd from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. The influential film features a stellar cast including Golden Globe® winner and Academy Award® nominee Clifton Webb (Stars and Stripes Forever), Academy Award® and Emmy® winner Barbara Stanwyck (Double Indemnity) and Audrey Dalton (Separate Tables). Showcasing a fully re-mastered version of the film, as well as incredible special features including commentary from the cast and crew, TITANIC on Blu-ray is a must-have for any classic film enthusiast and history buff.

Determined to leave the superficial, high-society world in which her husband Richard (Clifton Webb) is engrossed, Julia Sturges (Barbara Stanwyck) boards the R.M.S. Titanic in England to travel to America, along with her two children. Hoping to reconcile with his family, Richard purchases a steerage ticket aboard the ship, unaware of the fateful events that loom ahead.

Prebook is March 7th.

TITANIC Blu-ray Special Features:
●   Commentary by Film Critic Richard Schickel
●   Commentary by Cinematographer Michael D. Lonzo, Actors Audrey Dalton and Robert Wagner, and Historian Sylvia Stoddard
●   MovieTone News
    ○   “Titanic” Premiere Thrills South
    ○   CinemaScope and “The Robe” Win Oscars
●   Titanic Aftermath: Audio Essay by Silvia Stoddard
●   Theatrical Trailer
●   Still Gallery

Thank you, JMK.  I can tell that the 100th anniversary is near; I have been receiving a whole slug of Titanic-themed items.  News of the debut of the Titanic Requiem written by Robin Gibb and his son being debuted on April 17 in London. a last chance to book passage on a second ship that will be heading to the wreck site on April 14, and several new books being released about the ship.

Finally, after ten months of pain, and eight months in a wheelchair; I have finally gotten my back surgery scheduled.  The surgery will be on Tuesday, April 3, at a time to be decided.  That day will probably be the last you will hear from me for the month of April.

Remember, DR TCB, HHW is a great place to convalesce - as many of us have experienced.

I don't know of any nursing homes around town that have computer access available.

Do you have a laptop you could even take with you?

Nope.

TCB - congrats on finally getting a surgery date.  Is there any way you can get word to us that you're ok?

My dear friend Sharry will be doing "Waiting Room" duty all day on the third. Assuming I live through this surgery, she will contact one of her Facebook friends, who just happens to be DR Jane.

Oh, and if I don't live through the surgery, Sharry will still be contacting Jane.

Oh great!  How do I respond to this. ;)  I am not expecting bad news from Sharry. :)

Don't worry, Jane, if something does happen to me, I can always rise again on the next Sunday.

Danise, I'm so glad to hear that the follow-up is happening both by Angie's List and by the local tv station.  I always wonder when a show says "we'll follow up" if they really do.

Glad to hear you are getting some follow-up, Danise.

Do you know what Angie's List is going to do for you? Are they going to do some repairs? That wasn't clear from the clip.
