Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a journey and were centered and had edge enhancement, and now it is time for you to post until the enhanced cows come home.

bk: I loved today's notes. These people idiots have, as you say, had a detrimental effect on the sale of many Blu-ray discs. Sadly, I don't think they will ever change their ways because they love to play the expert.

WOW! I think that must have been the longest BK blog! I, however, loved reading about it. I don't understand anything about DNR or edge enhancement and I enjoy the blu-ray releases that people carp about.

A preview of the upcoming "Great Gatsby." Not exactly inspiring, but then again, I was not a fan of "Moulin Rouge":

Good morning, all! This is the first day in some time I am declaring a ME Day: I'm going to clean the apartment, organzine, file and tend to important things pertaining to me. I also need to stop at the post office.

The alarm went off at 6, and I slept in until 7. I had a peculiar dream about rehearsing a show like, but wasn't, the Appalachian Christmas piece; I was staying in a fantastic hotel, the wise men were in three Volkswagons and that's all I remember of it.

I do want to see THE WOMAN IN BLACK; the 1989 BBC version is truly terrifying, and the original novel by Susan Hill is a successful attempt to write a Victorian ghost story. I have the impression that the new film doesn't follow the novel as closely as the BBC version does, but I haven't read the novel in close to twenty years, so what do I know? I watched the BBC version again about two years ago and it still packs a wallop. I owned it on VHS as soon as it was released for sale after the A&E broadcast.  I now own a bootleg DVD because it's no longer available and it's a pity. It should be an annual Halloween broadcast. I see on IMDB that it's one minute longer than the Radcliffe movie, but I still want to see the new version, so I can saa how it compares.

More coffee and to work!

DR Ginny, I'm sorry that the performance was screwed up because of the scenery. At least you got to see the whole performance. When Skip, DR FJL and I saw MARY POPPINS the first time, the scenic problems stopped the show cold and we had to come back for another performance.

I'm looking forward to the news on ONCE. I think you and Richard should go onstage and have a beer at 1:30.

Well, the info coming in on THE MUSiC MAN at Arena bodes not much good; the director for some reason has set the show in the 1930s, which blows to hell Willson's valentine to his childhood before WW 1, and dances like the Castle Walk and Turkey Trot seem  awfully out of place, along wth the Wells Fargo Wagon and Captain Billy's Whizbang, in that period of talkies, Fred and Ginger, the depression, and other matters of social and economic change.

Yes, I was afraid Jim Parsons and Scott Ellis were going to announce something like that when they appeared in front of the beautiful scrim with the lamppost on it.  As it turned out, it was a delightful chat.

And I'm afraid that the more I see of Carey Mulligan, the thinner her acting seems to get. I heard she was great onstage, and I certainly enjoyed "An Education," but she doesn't do it for me as  Daisy in these previews. Neither did Mira Sorvino or Mia Farrow.

As I've stated before, my first interaction with internet idiots (TM) was on Wikipedia, when an "editor" literally stole my Farmer article, but got several facts wrong in the process.  When I tried to correct her, I found out that those who "live" for these sites know all sorts of ways to "game the system", and I soon found myself suspended, even though I had been plagiarized.  Since then I've learned to (mostly) ignore the idiots and instead try to respond to those who actually know what they're talking about.  :)

Have to journey to the center of something or other to spend a few hours at a very fine VW dealership, waiting and reading whilst they perform a 130,000-mile oil change and several other goodies that I will pay dearly for.  The dealership sits all by itself on a two-lane country road, and their slogan is, or was until recently, "across the road from the cows".  Maybe those cows went home.  I'd better check.

For a day working for me, I've sure had a lot of DEAREST ENEMY work todeal with the Dublin production team. My copyist is now down to the last set of orchestra parts for DEAREST ENEMY, which is really fantastic!

DR Ginny, I think you'd like DEAREST ENEMY a lot. My favorite round of dialogue occurs in the lead-in to "Bye and Bye":

SIR JOHN: I'm sure you're not my personal enemy-
BETSY:  And why not?
SIR JOHN: You couldn't be when you know I love you. Say you don't hate me.
BETSY: I don't hate you. It's not your fault. it's your people, you British. This war-
SIR JOHN:  But war is a man's business, Betsy.
BETSY: No, war is a woman's business. This wilderness was made livable by women and we're all going to fight for it, every one of us.
SIR JOHN: But when it's all over? There will still be you and there will still be me. What of us? Our countries will make peace. Must we still be enemies?
BETSY: How can I love you when all of your hopes are against all of mine?

Arrived at the Council offices to find out the meeting was yesterday not today. It's always on a Wednesday and was originally supposed to be today but I hadn't noticed that the reminder letter gave a different date. Doh!! I'd been looking forward to the usual buffet as well because with my fridge/freezer out of action I haven't got much food available. So no meeting and no food!

My guess is it's season two?  That's a shame - that said, many of the season two episodes are excellent, with the exception of the two really dreadful ones directed by the same guy trying to ape American directors - those you should just skip.  But season one, which they should have issued first, has the best episodes and a few things in that season are necessary to know in order to pick up on subtle things in season two.  But this distributor here is acting like season one didn't even exist.

DR ChasSmith, glad you got some Susan Gordon viewing, as others said, she was an absolute sweetheart.

If you search the innerwebs, specifically Ebay, you might be able to locate the issue of SCARLET STREET magazine which ran my interview with Susan. In fact she is the one, along with DR JRand61, who urged me to join HHW several years ago.

IMHO, her best movie is FIVE LITTLE PENNIES with Danny Kaye.

Oy to the vey - can't get a drummer for Grease - all these "volunteers" DON'T HAVE DRUM KITS.  I am NOT securing drum kits for people. I draw the line.  One kid's mom is worried about the son's drum kit being left in the gym all week.  I assured her that I've left electronic instruments in the gym for a week for 18+ years and nothing has happened to them.  When do parents
stop making excuses for their children (the kid is 17).  I'm ready to do the show with a MIDI bass and drum track, guitar and keyboard.

DR Ginny, or anyone who has recently been to a graduation...What should I wear to the Civic Opera House for Bryan's graduation?  I was going to wear a summer skirt but the temps are dropping before we arrive which only leaves me with jeans.  Of course I would dress those up with a blouse and jacket, or something nice.

I personally wouldnot wear jeans to a graduation. No other skirts or dresses? Dress pants?

My dress pants are my skinny pants I can't fit into.  I don't have a lot of dresses or skirts.  I think only the light summer skirt will work.  One I wore to his wedding & is too dressy, the others are too short or more for fall.  I wish it was going to be a little warmer there.

TCB, you were asking yesterday about a coffeemaker called Kruig or Krueg or something. (I'm more familiar with Krug wines.) Well, I saw a lot of their coffees at Big Lots today.

I also got a double-disc set of Judy's "A Star Is Born" for $5.

Done, summer skirt with sandals, nice short sleeve black top I didn't think would work but it does because I added a  necklace that goes with the skirt.  I'm going to be cold unless the temps warm up there.  We are renting a car so maybe I'll put my jeans in it in case I'm cold walking around in the evening.

Finished with my viewing, wrote blurbs and prepped releases - if only the mastering guy doesn't dawdle, Amaryllis and gets me the second master, I may actually be able to announce on Friday, which is kind of what I'm looking to do.
