Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the colon and the semi, and now it is time for you to post until the semi-cows come home.

And the word of the day is: DAMASK!

A Very Happy Birthday to DR Jeanne!! ;D

A Very Happy Birthday to DR Jeanne!!

Good morning, all! I slept late and now I am moving about. The laundry is in the washers, and it's about time tomove it to the dryers. Around 10, I'll call Joshie to hear how the recording went, and see if we can get a workable schedule on these orchestra parts.
I have very few plans today, so i'm going to go with the day; I may go to the NYPL and work on EILEEN notes, but it depends on the weather; it's going to be a wet day.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday, DR Jeanne !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Until my fridge/freezer is repaired I'm having to eat out more. Had meat lasagne and salad with garlic bread for lunch at a local restarant which was very yummy.

I just traded some cherce correspondence with BK's close personal friend Julie Kirgo about the semi-colon. This can't be mere coincidence. ;)

The Penton-Man brouhaha demonstrates yet again the dangers of the internet where people's credentials are accepted by so many at face value.
I like this comment from HTF "Strange that someone would go through all the trouble for something that is ultimately so banal...I can see pretending to be Tiger Woods or Brad Pitt or whatever...but ace Sony video mastering guru? That takes dorkdom to whole new levels".

We were down? I'll see if I can find out what was what. I, on the other hand, am up. I was up at five and just stayed in bed and fell back asleep at seven.

Thursday afternoon greetings! We checked out and left our luggage at the hotel and walked over to the Hudson River to see the ships that are in for Fleet Week. Now we're on our way back to Times Square to get our bags and a taxi to Penn Station. In a couple of hours we'll be on the train to DC.

Well, I just got an offer to write the Zagat book to San Antonio nightlife. Only problems: I don't know the scene, I don't go out to clubs, I don't have time (June 13 is when they want the first part of the book done) and I'm contractually prohibited from writing for another guidebook series. Plus, the pay ain't so great.
Still, it's nice to be asked.

Very strange day here at work. I'd rather be napping. But there's no money in that, is there?

Frozen out again. Lost my long post twice!
...just as Judy sang in "A Star is Born":
"Go! Go! Go! And get that long post lost......!!!!!"

For no particular reason other than I think it's purty:
-
I am really moving slowly today. I am quite lethargic and I'm having a difficult time with motivation and concentration. I am not happy. I feel like I need a 48-hour nap.

Back from a birthday brunch. Packaging is approved. Announcement in the morning.

Hello, everyone. Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes.

Thanks first to BK for remembering.

Thanks to the early bird, DR George.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to anyone I may have missed over the past week or so, nothing personal, just haven't been here

Today I started my staycation. I'm not going back to work until next Wednesday and not going anywhere just staying in town.
-
Happiest of birthdays to DR Jeanne!
-
We got over 2 inches of rain last night and it's been rainy all day, so I didn't do any yard work today.
-
We are almost to Washington DC.
-
I happen to be quite fond of damask.
My cage has many rooms
Damask and dark
Nothing there sings,
Not even my lark
Just had to share. :)

I am pretty sure I've got my colors picked out for the new den. I'll probably start that project tomorrow. No matter what I'll buy the paint this weekend, there's a $5 per gallon rebate at Home Depot. I like their premium paint.
-
Have a great stay-cation, DR Cillaliz!
-
What I dont' want to do is finish getting the wall paper off the wall. It's never as bad a job as I imagine it will be, but I have to be careful of the wood floors in this room, that hasn't been the case in the other rooms I've done.
-
Safe travels Ginny~!! Sounds like you had a wonderful time in NYC
-
Sauces, oh my, yes. Love 'em, both simple and complicated.
At home, definitely simple -- for example, a nice mouth-filling meat sauce for pasta. I CHEAT by starting with a can or three of Hunts -- I always forget the name, but it's the only one that for some reason doesn't include HFCS in the ingredients. Brown a pound or three of decent ground beef (I've tried other meats but they just don't quite satisfy in the same way), being sure to season with fresh ground S&P. Lightly sautee some chopped/crushed fresh garlic in a little olive oil. Fresh basil if I have any. Simmer it all together until you can't stand it any longer.
That's for "hearty" eating. Perhaps someone can post something a little more delicate.
-
New den!? Jealous!

Trying to get everything done for our announcement. Always time consuming and crazy. And I still haven't heard a peep from the mastering guy and he's about to get an earful should he pick up the phone when I call him.

Happy, happy, happy Birthday, DR Jeanne!!!!!! :)

So, George, how was the Full Monty?
-
Have a great stay-cation, DR Cillaliz!
Thanks! I'm sure I will. I have plans to work on the house and the yard. Maybe go to a movie or two, maybe go out to eat....and maybe just sit. Actually I have to do the yard. I have to get out the chain saw and take care of a big branch that came down in the wind the other day
-
So, George, how was the Full Monty?
Quite good! The (almost completely filled) audience loved it, as did I. At the very end when they take off their g-strings, they covered themselves with their hats just as the backlights came on, so you only saw nekkid butts during their last number, but not frontals.
Darn.

How was Memphis?
Oh, I have been gone. Memphis was fun. It was a great seminar and I did manage to go to the National Civil Rights Museum - very impressive - ate at Charles Vergos' Rendezvous, Gus' Fried Chicken, Rum Boogie Cafe, Blue Plate Cafe, and I think the rest would have been catered..Central BBQ, another barbeque place and a sushi place. I don't know who catered on the boat trip, but the southern comfort food was wonderful.
-
I also really enjoyed being downtown and riding the trolleys. I was having a bad flare up of tendonitis in my ankle, so I wasn't able to walk much. Lots of R.I.C.E. and riding the trolleys to get from one place to another. Memphis is working on restoring storefronts downtown and I really love that stuff, so I did a lot of looking at the architecture
-
Getting ready for my whirlwind Saturday-night to Monday-morn theatergoing trip to Los Angeles.
It seems that it will be about 15 degrees cooler in L.A. than in NYC, or so they'r predicting.
-
I started to limp my way into the BBQ cooking contest, but they told me you couldn't just walk in and do people's choice this year (I don't really think that was true) and my ankle was really sore. So, with no way to get around without walking, I hopped the trolley and headed back to the hotel

Just got off the phone with the mastering guy - it's a good thing I called - he hasn't checked his e-mails in over two days - he's having work done on his kitchen. It apparently hadn't sunk in that this was urgent and needed by today - he hasn't even started it. I'm so irked right now. He's starting right now and if he's diligent and focuses he should get in done in the next five hours. I told him I needed at least six tracks by nine this evening. From now on, when there's an urgent situation regarding a release, I'll just pick up the phone.

That's pretty much the way I do it, only I always dice a large white onion and sautee that until it's transparent, then I add the garlic...

Greetings from the fabulous Residence Inn at Thomas Circle in Washington, DC! Our room here is about 3 times the size of the one in NYC and it costs about $75 less per night. I've stayed in this hotel before for conferences, but it's Richard's first stay here. We're already very comfortable.

I throw in a can of diced tomatoes, a lot of onion, and ground pork with the ground beef. And lots of mushrooms.

I love diced tomatoes in sauces and in chili, and should have thought of that. They add that perfect texture.

Our train ride down from New York was quite smooth. I'd bought sandwiches at Penn Station for our lunch that turned out to be delicious. From home I'd brought a Netflix that arrived the day before we left, so I watched 2 episodes of BOARDWALK EMPIRE and will watch the third one tonight and mail the disc back from here.

DR Arnold, the sandwiches were from the deli that's right next to the Amtrak waiting area. I bought a ham & brie on rye and a tuna, tomato, and sliced hardboiled egg on wheat and Richard and I had half & half. They were both quite good.

Happy Birthday to DR JEANNE!!!!!!!

I am going to watch So you think you can dance now. Don't love the auditions. My favorite part is Vegas week.
Well i love watching the good auditions and usually ff thru the bad ones. Don't like watching terrible dancing.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work and go to the theater to start another weekend of sound board operating for "Good Night Moon"! I hope that I remember everything. ;)
Be back later.
-
I need to figure out what i'm reading next. I have 2 library books and 1 netgalley that i want to read in the next week. Just not sure of the order yet.

I need to get a fast read for my trip to Chicago.

DR ChasSmith, these were made fresh to order. I know that because the ham and brie was supposed to have spicy Dijon mustard, which I knew Richard would not like, so I asked them to leave it off.
-
For dinner we went next door to CVS and bought a can of Progresso chicken noodle soup and some string cheese and picked up an apple in the hotel lobby. We have a pretty complete kitchen, so I microwaved a bag of popcorn and heated up the soup. With me fixing dinner and Richard doing laundry downstairs, it's just like home!
-
Ginny can you buy heart friendly microwave popcorn?
-
Wow! I looked outside and there is snow on the mountains!!

Funny, a few minutes after I noticed the snow Keith did and was just as surprised as I was. I heard Craig yelling back at him "Mom just said that.".

My mistake, and apologies. Just to clarify, I don't mean pre-made like something you'd see in a convenience store. I've had a few very nice sandwiches from the lower level (note: not the third level) in Grand Central.
-
Ginny can you buy heart friendly microwave popcorn?
Well, friendlier, but not entirely friendly. I look for products that are lower in fat and sodium. Tonight's was the real stuff, though that the hotel provides.
-
'night!
-
So much work this week. And I'm tired.
Night, all.
-
Thanks to Cilla for the birthday wishes. I've had many staycations and enjoyed every one.
-
Thanks to Vixmom. Is life boring yet?
-
Thank you, Kevin.
-
Thanks, Ginny. I'm still jealous.
-
Thank you, Danise.
-
Nice review, Larry. Quite a nice start.
-
Travel vibes to FJL. It's been in the mid-60s to mid-70s here on the Westside, warmer inland.
-
Has anyone read anything by Tana French? I believe she's Irish. I bought one of her novels and will be starting it in the next day or two.

Well actually, the barbecue and sushi were catered on the same day, so on once side of the aisle was barbecue the other side was sushi. It would have been a dream come true

The kitchen is what I really like about Residence Inn. I haven't stayed in one for a long time, though
-
Today, day one of staycation, I did a lot of little errands I haven't seemed to find time to get done. I also used the chain saw to cut up a fallen limb. I am so glad I bought that thing. I went out for breakfast, bought some new shoes with lots of support to help my ankle, did some yard work, went out for coffee with Paul....that sort of thing. I am going to start on the room tomorrow. If I can get the walls cleaned, the rest is fun. I'd like to get the work done by Sunday night. Then I'll have two days off with my work all done. I love the feeling of having the projects done..
-
Guess you all know I'm not a sit on the beach kind of person. I'd rather be working on my house.
-
Time to go to bed and maybe find a book to read. Night all....can't wait to sleep in again tomorrow
-

Film number one was on TCM and titled NEPTUNE'S DAUGHTER (1949). It starred Esther Williams, Ricardo Montalban, Red Skelton, and Better Garrett, all of who were wonderful.
Ricardo Montalban was so dreamy back then. I swooned several times. And Betty Garrett was quite funny as was Red Skelton, who I am usually not all that fond of. My interviewee Sara Shane played a receptionist and pretty Joi Lansing had a couple of scenes as a swimsuit model. Add that that some nifty songs and it was a nice, enjoyable afternoon viewing.

I have to say that I don't think that I would watch an Esther Williams movie just to see Esther, but as long as she is surrounsed by an enjoyable cast it seems to be ok.

The other movie was a blind buy that I picked up at Big Lots today for $3.00 titled AmericanEast. It was a quite a fascinating story of a muslim family in Los Angeles struggling to keep their business open in the years after 9/11. When the patriarch of the family decides to go into business with a Jewish friend things begin to unravel.
One of the more interesting characters was a Egytian cab driver/actor who seems to only get roles as terrorists. When he finally lands a role as a doctor on 7 episodes of a very popular TV drama he is so excited that he proposes to his long time girlfriend. On the day of filming he finds that his character is cut, but he is offered yet another terrorist role in that same episode. He feels that his dreams are coming to an end.
Quite a good, emotional film.

There is a lot of me on this page.

Well, tonight's "Good Night Moon" went well, except that one actor's mic decided to crap out. It just wouldn't work correctly...I had to turn it all the way up to hear anything and then there was a LOT of hiss, but not on any of the other mics.

PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
-
To continue...The stage manager and the girl who handles the actual microphones worked on it for a while. They changed the battery and the wire and then the actual microphone, but nothing seemed to work.
-
The guy who originally showed me how to work the board and who really knows the microphones (I think that he owns them, but I'm not sure), will come tomorrow about an hour before our regular call time and we'll try to figure out what's going on.

As for the actual performance, Rus (the guy whose mic crapped out) actually can project quite well, so that all worked out. The theater is fairly small and it really wasn't a problem for him. :)
