Title: THE UNKNOWN SCREED
Post by: bk on July 23, 2012, 12:15:11 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a screed, which was not known to Word, and now it is time for you to post until the unknown cows come home.

Good morning, all! Last night's ordeal with "the potion" was a 3-hour course, begun at 5:50 and finished at 8:30. Since I have to do it again this morning, I figured Iwould start around 3:30 and not risk any social accidents happening on my way to the East Side for the colonoscopy. It will take me 30-45 minutes to get there, depending on buses.

So, that's my next three hours. I will watch the news, read the Hart biography, and bide my time.

Yesterday (Sunday) was a very long day of rehearsing "Titus Andronicus."  I'm not acting in the show.  I'll be running the slides and sound effects.  I got there at about 12:45 pm and we didn't leave until 10:30!  Fortunately, I ate before I got there and someone brought pizza.  For tonight's rehearsal, the board (of which I am an officer-at-large) is providing food.  We should've provided it for today's exceedingly long rehearsal, but for some reason, we didn't.

Anyway, I'm going to bring some spinach and cheese ravioli in spaghetti sauce.  I just finished making it and put it in the fridge.  I'll just have to heat it up at work before I leave work.  It's very good...even for frozen ravioli and bottled spaghetti sauce. :)

After all this beautiful weather it it predicted to be another hot day. Somewhere between 88 and 92. Currently, it's 72 and pleasant. I'll close the curtains and keep the fan on blowing around the already existing cool air and see how that works.

I haven't been to Canada since I was a child and then it was to Windsor, which is just across the bridge from Detroit. My grandparents had relatives there and if I recall correctly, my great grandparents lived there but I have only very vague memories of them.

Morning all.  I slept very well last night.  I must have been tired despite the nap.

Today the AC people will be here this afternoon so I only have to be a work for half a day.  Hoo and Ray!

Vibes to DR Elmore.  I confess I am surprised they would allow you to ride the bus.  I have to keep bothering Thelma because they won't let me catch a cab home and want someone to watch over me for 24 hours afterwards.  Must be different up North.

Have a wonder filled day and vibes to all who need or want them!

Danise, it depends on your doctor. Every time I've had a colonoscopy I have needed a companion because they wouldn't release me to go home alone. I didn't need anyone to watch over me for 24 hours but I did need someone to go home with me.

I have survived the two preps. It tasted like lemon-flavored soap. I will leave in around 30 minutes and head for the bus. My friend Andy will pick me up, and we'll take a taxi back to the West Side, have breakfast in a diner (yum!), he's off to work, and I will come home and sleep. I am most looking forward to breakfast. I'm starving.

I'll check in when I get home.

Good morning, all.

Woke up a bit early, almost not knowing where I was - let alone what day it is - due to some unusual turns on what might otherwise have been fairly typical dreams.  Very interesting tone to the whole thing, and I'm trying to bring a couple of the scenes into focus.

John, I agree, if Revo didn't get rid of the text enhancer then it's probably a virus or some other thing affecting the system. I'm glad it at least got rid of Ask.

Good morning, good morning.  Party was a huge success.  Everyone is still sleeping, except me.  I'm off to my last week of camp.  Dear Edwina Jr opens on Thursday.  It's a cute show (as in content, that is) but the kids are doing a great job.

Tonight is dinner with friends in SF at Alexander's Steak House.  I'll be returning a poor man.

I agree with DR BEN - downloading an update or program that sticks you with a toolbar (ASK is the worst) or other "feature" is the worst.  You just have to make sure you opt out....or you have to go in and uninstall that $%@# thing.

DR TCB - I am playing a policeman in one scene of TMM, Ira Gershwin in a party scene, and a dishwasher in another scene.  Three costume changes and ONE LINE in the whole show.

I auditioned for SEE HOW THEY RUN a British farce by Phillip King.....I auditioned for Lionel Toop, the Vicar, another vicar who is visiting, the Bishop, and a cockney policeman.  I hope to be offered one of those parts....but the play is so darn funny, I would really take any of the six parts to be played by a male.

I should know by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Actually, I can see this half-working.  A great deal of the scenes in GREEN ACRES played like vaudeville routines, so I wouldn't doubt that a stage show could have a funny book. I'm not sure how the songs would work, though.  I think this will wind up as a very old-fashioned show.  Not that I would mind seeing anything like that but today's audiences would probably be bored by it.

Someone on All That Chat suggested Jane Krakowski as Lisa--I t'ink she vould be vonderful, dahlink!

Well it seems Richard L. Bare (one of the ex-husbands of Phyllis Coates) - got the rights for GREEN ACRES from the widow of it's creator and has been hawking a television revival since 2007 - so maybe the 99-year-old Bare has now set his sites on Broadway instead.

Back from a two-mile jog.  Felt good.  I ran by the house to the west of me and unless it's had some major redesigns I don't think it's that one.  However, it could well be the house next door to me on the east - I'll do further research, but the garage is in the right place there - just have to check out that front door and how it sits.

Would Bing Map's "birds eye" view, or whatever Google has, help?

Even with those, it can be surprisingly difficult to positively identify something.  I've had trouble with houses we lived in years ago.  I know which ones they are, but they become almost unrecognizable with just a few little changes.

For the last 7 hours a burglar alarm has been bleeping away near me, although I can't figure out which house it's coming from. I phoned the local council who said they would normally have someone come out and deal with it but he is off duty tonight. They said they will leave a message for him in the morning. Meanwhile I have to somehow try and get some sleep with this constant din.

My "midday" absence didn't end until 5pm.  Mom's appointment was at 11:30 and we went right from the doctor's office to the hospital for a chest x-ray, then to pick up the prescriptions they'd faxed from the office, then to lunch, then to her apartment to order (and soon receive) the breathing machine that the doctor prescribed.  I wouldn't be surprised if she has pneumonia...

Tomorrow morning, I will have breakfast at Cafe 82, move the 18 cartons to the lobby for the movers who will arrive between noon and 2 pm, and then head to Toyland to turn on the AC and wait for the moving crew to arrive. I had serious reservations about Willie.  First, I thought highly of every houseguest who recognized Willie as likely being the brother of "Survivor's" Russell Hanzt.  I didn't think too highly of Britney selecting Willie as first HOH, but I hoped Willie might show us something different from his brother's total egomania.  He didn't.

His attitude after Frank was saved and won HOH was really piss-poor, and that final scene with Joe was just stupid.  I hope he never gets another reality series appearance.  He's unworthy.  Poor sportsmanship is not something even Russell is guilty of.

I find it quite strange that a peace loving person like myself should find out that so many of his Facebook friends (and family), due to recent posts they have made, seem to be obsessed with owning as many firearms as possible.

On a related note, I watched a documentary a few weeks back that took a look at what people in other countries think of U.S civilians. It was interesting, and most average folk seem to like us just fine. One thing in common that many of those questioned said, however, was that when they think of Americans they think of a populace who seem to be afraid of everything and everyone.

So, perhaps that explains in part, the love of guns in The US?

I was sort of hoping that Willie might turn out to be not such a bad guy, but I think that whole Hantz family is totally messed up.

I suspect it will be the end of any Hantz' being invited to play on any more reality competition shows.

I am proud of Brittany for standing up to the big bully! She did a good job cutting him down to size.

For the most part I like the players, although I am not too sure about Jojo. Coach wise, I would like to see Mike Boogie go away.

Last year, it was interesting that they brought back Dick and Danielle, Rachel and Brendon and Jordan and Jeff.  This year, I'm over "former" players taking the spotlight away from the new ones.  Let them play in All Stars shows and leave the new guys to make or break all by themselves.

I know CBS does this for ratings, but it truly prevents newer players from standing out and becoming as celebrated as the former players.

Well, the irony is ironic.  In today's notes I write about the postal thief.  I also mention the package we sent that sat in the Studio City branch for six days before getting to the sort facility in Santa Clarita.  Today, both packages arrived at their destinations.  Empty.  Yes, you heard that right - empty.  Re-sealed.  So, it is clear we have our very own Studio City thief and I've just been on the phone with the USPS and opened a claim (I told them that if my money was not returned, meaning the cost of the contents, that I would launch a lawsuit) - I only had one of the tracking numbers - waiting for the other one from the helper, but as soon as I have that I'll call back with that information.  Supposedly someone from Studio City USPS will be calling me within one business day.

DR Jane - the only person who saw the x-ray at the hospital was the tech who took the pictures.  It has to be read by a radiologist and Mom's doctor.  The doc had gone ahead and prescribed meds similar to those I had for pneumonia 10 years ago and I made sure she took today's doses of both of those.

It doesn't take long to diagnose pneumonia, at least not as far as I know, and since it should be treated quickly I figured it would be a priority.

I'm told that the person I thought was the troublemaker was not the troublemaker.  Which means that someone on this board caused the problem.  I'm not going into it other than to say please contact me first before doing anything radical.

What problem?

I don't want to go into it.  If someone knows something or has received ANY denigrating e-mails concerning me from someone on this site, just contact me, please.  No one will know about it, but if I don't get to the bottom of this I'll shut this board down because I will not allow this kind of negativity to come in my direction or anyone's direction, for that matter.

Big Brother yes. Project Runway, I would watch it, but this season will only be airing here in the next month or more. :(

I am watching Big Brother....such a shocking show last night...although not terribly surprising.

Well that happened days ago.  I feel like Willie was losing it. But i totally think that Joe provoked him. I really am not liking Joe. And I actually felt bad that Britney turned on Willie.

I am watching Big Brother....such a shocking show last night...although not terribly surprising.

If you aren't following via Dingo's HamsterWatch, I recommend that you do.  It keeps you abreast of things on a daily basis as the guy who runs the site follows all the live freeds.

I love hamsterwatch.

Just had a terrific telephonic conversation with someone - it's very early in the process but it could result in a life for some of our Kritzerland shows beyond where we do them - in other words, taking them to a different venue where there would actually be a budget to do them.
Best wishes with that!

I don't mean to be so enigmatic.  Something happened today - it's not a biggie, but it happened because someone here made a telephone call.  I don't know why they would have done it, but it turned out to cause a little problem that was unnecessary.  The problem's been taken care of and, for me at least, wasn't a big deal.  I'm just trying to get to the bottom of it and find out exactly what happened and why.  On top of that, I've received an e-mail with an allegation in it (not about me) and it all ties into this.  It's a bore, frankly, and if I haven't heard anything by the end of this evening, I'll just let it go and wash it away.  It's a little too much intrigue for me and I just won't let anything negative like that get close to me.  I could spell it all out, but if you go back and revisit the posts from earlier, I'm sure you'll figure out what it's about.

HORRIBLE US Postal Service story, btw.  Abominable.

Just for comic relief, I have a little USPS story of my own that's not even a week old.

A friend and I drove from here to Orlando (we love car trips), making a number of stops along the way there and back.  I'd never seen the very deliberately kitschy tourist attraction "South of the Border" before that, and had a great time exploring it and sending out some postcards.  On the return trip I sent a few more postcards from Richmond, VA.  One of them happened to be to someone I'd sent one to a few days prior.

That trip was in September 1998.  My friend's two postcards were delivered to her on July 16, 2012.

Just checked it ChasSmith, and the one I sent must be defective as my original starts with the American International Pictures logo and then the credits run.

I will make a new, improved copy for you (it is such a classic that you MUST see the whole thing) and with it, a DVD of trailers from 1950s/60s juvenile delinquent and teen movies which I made (transferring an old tape compilation to dvd).

I am back from a heavenly foot massage (that also includes face, head, back, and legs.  I'm quite relaxed and it was just what I needed.

For the last few days, Accuweather.com has been warning me that there is a 75% chance of rain today.

Um. Yeah.

What a coincidence!  I just got back from having a lovely dinner with a dear friend.  We should try and coordinate this the next time.  Maybe even our dear friends would get along with each other.

Good Morning! Good Afternoon! Good Evening!

I'm up, I'm up... And, well...

I have been a Wussburger. In fact, I have been a WUSSBURGER SUPREME WITH CHEESE.

I had told DR Kevin H that I would be back on HHW tomorrow/today. Alas, due to last night's Closing Night Festivities and the resultant "grogginess" this morning, following by some overdue packing and a belated birthday dinner for my brother earlier tonight, followed by more packing, well...

And since I have a casting session in nine hours for "My Fair Lady", well...

It might take me a few days to get back up to speed, but, I'll hopefully be back into the swing of things in a couple of days. In the meantime...

I have truly missed everyone of you HHW Denizians, and I hope all of your are doing well. I have kept up with some of you via Facebook and Twitter - and in person, and I know I missed some big events, both good and unfortunate. I've had some ups and downs over the past couple of months. The ups have been quite wonderful, and, thankfully, the downs have had their silver linings. I hope all of you have had some silver linings too.

OH! I'll provide more details later, but I will be on vacation during the last two weeks of September. That vacation will consist of stops in Boston, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Chicago. I'll be spending 3-4 days in each city. -Oh, and I'll also be in Palo Alto from August 6-19 for a gig at TheatreWorks. Hopefully, some West Coast HHW Gatherings can be coordinated.

And now... To sleep.

Goodnight.

What's always fun is when the composer uses the syllables in a film title and writes his theme around the syllables.

Wow, we had an exodus of GUESTS again - down to sixteen.  This I never understand.  It's been fifty to sixty twenty-four hours a day since the previous exodus late last week.
