From what I've seen, the latter describes NEWSIES.
Wow, it's getting very dark and dangerous looking in Manhattan. I was about to go out for a cuppa (my office provides free coffee but it's dreadful and I would rather get a good cup of deli coffee than drink the swill from the lounge) but I looked out the window and decided to wait a bit.

Also Step Up Revolution, the new movie opening tomorrow. From what I've seen, it's all gymnastics. Don't get me wrong, I love gymnastics, but the kind of crap they're doing in the movie is not "dancing" as I define it. The groupies can define it any way they want but for me it's just a bunch of over-caffeinated gyrations that don't begin to approach dance.

What a delightful interview! It was a wonderful interview. I may have to dig out my copy of Dames at Sea to watch Harvey with Ann/es Margaret, Miller and Meara.
On tonight's watch list: EXPERIMENT IN TERROR.
Not to mention "Bring It On," which opens soon. But that at least is supposedly about gymnastics.Love this quote from the Harvey Evans interview: Good choreography tells a story, bad choreography is a series of back handsprings.

Speaking of Turkey Lurkey Time, I find it hard to believe that a better version of the Tony Awards segment has yet to be posted on YouTube. I love to watch the existing clip from time to time but its so frustrating at the same time. I hope that there is a clear copy existing somewhere that will release for viewing someday...

I just got off the phone with 85 year-old Vincent Youmans II, son of the composer. I spent the morning tracking down the family via Cast Recording List and the Library of Congress. I have two library boxes of original NO NO NANETTE materials that John McGlinn "borrowed" and refused to return nearly 30 years ago. I came across the storage boxes yesterday while sorting through the moved materials and I want to return them to the family in the next couple of weeks, as soon as the office is more set up.Cool. Love Sr.'s music, especially "Great Day" and "Through the Years."
And I have four books on CD from the library in at the same time. I'm hoping to finish "The Book Thief" first, which is a fine young adult novel. Anybody read it?
DR Jane, sorry, missed your question earlier...
I met Leslie Odom Jr. backstage after 'Leap Of Faith'...he was so gracious, charming, and sweet...I was very impressed.
Not to mention how insanely talented the guy is....he has a very bright future!
"When I finally got a supervisor from the postal inspection on the phone, she finally told me who I had to talk to: The Inspector General. I wondered if, when I called, I’d get Danny Kaye on the phone".
That gave me a good early morning laugh!
thank you all for the vibes for Stef - as you can imagine we are all quite concerned -
hopefully the two weeks we are in Canada will give me time to take a few long walks
I wonder if a massage could take away the constant pain between my shoulder blades
From DR John G:I'm at the halfway mark and think it is amazing. My nephew recommended it to me. Do not rush this wonderful book. I have read it twice and recommend it over & over again to people. On the second reading I appreciated the book twice as much.
The author is known for writing young adult novels, however in his home country of Australia this book was released for adults, not young adults.
catching up on posts from that last few days.
DR JANE
Marla Gibbs is still alive, but she was not considered an original cast member of The Jeffersons. Although she was in the first episode she only appeared in ten episodes during the first two seasons and became a regular in the third season.
Morning all! I slept quite well last night. Might have had something to do with being tired after all that walking! :) I will start my 2 mile morning walk here shortly.
I am waiting for the AC people and the new contractor who will (hopefully) start on the house in short order.
I see that Anderson Cooper will be in town in September. I hope that things are well underway or finished by then.
Doing some other needed things today.
DR JANE thanks for posting that link the Shelby and Chad Everett's love story. Yes, it was lovely to hear them talk about their life together.

And after my nap, I got ready to head to the St. James Theatre to see Bring It On.Is there dancing or all gymnastics?
I had seen Bring It On last Fall when it opened at the The Ahmanson. I liked it then, and I liked it last night. It's gone through a few changes - and new opening sequence and three new songs - but the core of the show is still there. Is is great "Theatre"? No. Is it a fun evening of entertainment that manages to pass on a very positive message about friendship and "not judging a book by its cover"? Yes.

To finish up my day, my friend, Yosh, and I went to Casellula for some cheese, miso mustard pickles, watermelon salad, and a "Springtime" crostini (provolone, fresh pea puree, roasted tomatoes and chorizo). YUM! And on our walk back up 9th Avenue, we happened to run into Christian Borle, Michael Urie and Top Chef Desserts contestant, Zac Young. -Not all at once, but we did have a nice catch up session with Zac and he invited us to drop by his new place of employment (restaurant) for dinner and dessert(s). :)And all I had last night was Pig Face Pie, a pizza made with house-cured sausage, radishes and arugula.

home, home on the plage
where the gulls cry and waves crash all day
some quiet to think
some beach boy with drink
and time just to do what you may
Actually a house on the plage might be very nice

Good morning, all.
Woke up from an absurd dream to which I was only too willing to say Good Riddance, and am luxuriating in my first cuppa. Weird night. I should have turned the AC back on last night for better sleeping. It had been off since that AMAZING wind event Tuesday evening, but I could sense today's predicted heat trying to make an early appearance. I actually needed it whilst working in my Inner Sanctum (music/movie room) last night, so don't ask me what I was thinking.
Yes indeed, DR Ben, we're in for it today. It's actually dark and stormy here this morning. Which is but a tease, because once the sun comes out it will steam the place to hell and back. Getting near 90 where I am, so the city should feel even worse. However, my two weather websites are calling for a long string of days hovering around 80 starting on Saturday. I shan't complain.

My favorite (non-original cast) performance is THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9-vYkvCzJU) version (I've posted it before), danced by three men (one who is VERY tall) who are lip-synching to the original recording. It's great!
;)
LOL.

We watched AND THEN THERE WERE NONE last night.
I hadn't seen in in about 13 years.
Marvelous cast. Great fun!
Oh wow, I miss a few days in a row for the first time in a very long time ( I'm very sorry) but it looks like I missed such an eventful few days. i will try to catch up without overlooking much that's important.
My mind has been elsewhere, including hopes for some friends who are working on projects that i hope do well, none that we have anything whatsoever to do with, but we are still holding out hopes for our friends because we know how hard they have worked for years - but the people who go to see them QUITE CORRECTLY AND PROPERLY feel their admission price gives them the right to totally have at them. And of course, that is the contract between creative people and audiences, that if creators put work out into the world, the audiences may have at it with full force - but that doesn't make it easier when the creators are friends you care about.

I have an email with an amusing subject line:
Connie Francis, JoseSPiano, and Todd Rokita [my Indiana Congressman] have Tweeted you.
My first 24 hours back in NYC were quite jam-packed.
As soon I got back to the apartment, I went ahead and got things set up, and then took my bike out for a spin. I biked through Central Park, down to Columbus Circle to my mail place. The weather was perfect for a ride through The Park. Then I decided to going ahead and bike down to City Bakery for a late lunch.
When I had checked various bike route sites and apps, they all posted alternate routes that avoided the designated bike lane on Broadway through midtown. Well... I really should have followed that "advice". Yes, there are bike lines through Times Square and Herald Square and Madison Square. But there are also a lot of tourists, hot god vendors and taxi cab drivers trying to pick up fares. Alas, I did end up taking a little spill just a few blocks from my destination, but I'm fine, the bike is fine and I'm so glad I had my helmet and biking gloves on. I did strain my right hand, but nothing's broken or even scraped. Nothing some ibuprofen, ice and an ACE bandage can't help... And has helped.
After my lunch at City Bakery, I went ahead and biked back uptown via 1st Avenue... Then took a nice nap. A nice long nap.

I hadn't ever thought of exploring any broadcast 3-D before hearing a few days ago that there would be 3-D broadcasts of the Olympics. I then learned that if you're already set up with HDTV, it costs not a farthing extra to get those channels -- at least through Comcast. So I just spent an enormously satisfying (it's all relative when it comes to talking to your cable company) 15 minutes determining that it could indeed be activated on the hardware I've got. And, just like that, I now have 3-D TV channels ... and they work! THEY WORK!!! :)

I assume these are not the cheap, red and blue, glasses.
Instead of the blurred double-image projected at a movie theater and on 3-D Blu-ray, Comcast broadcasts two images a couple of different ways -- scrunched side by side, and on some material, one over the other. The only thing I have to do is select which it is on the TV, and the TV converts that picture to the familiar blurred double-image.

Setting up routers and such, especially Wi-Fi, is what challenges me each and every time. Any time I have to do anything it's like learning it from scratch.

Very true.
Vastly amusing is our very own Michael Shayne's emergence on Facebook, where he now seems to spend every waking hour, like Pogue. At least the former still comes around pretty much every day, but the latter I'm afraid is caught up in his own ME-isms.
Mike has been posting here. He was quite ill for a while and didn't post. Also, some people (a Gypsy reference) who have those fancy phones show as being on Facebook all the time.

As to the "many" being lactose intolerant, things I've read indicate that most are...and that there are special formulas that are designed for cats who still need mother's milk.

Listening to the soundtrack to the Dante film I referenced earlier - pretty good. I may have a go at licensing it.

I still post every (almost) every day here. But I don't feel like I need to post every moment of my life. As for Facebook I'm just playing a game on Forgotten Musicals that has become somewhat addictive. I could start it here, but I am not sure how well it will go over here.
Here you go.
I could start it here, but I am not sure how well it will go over here.

On a Clear Day.
I suggest you send Anderson a letter suggesting that he follow up on your house when he is in town.
Saw an ad for gluten-free cat food. Didn't know that cats get celiac disease, too.
I did send an email today telling him about the progress and telling him I hoped I would have pictures to share when he comes to town so we shall see.....

ANDERSON VIBES FOR DANISE~~~~~~~~
I had a great day today. After a night of sleep without pain pills. (Yeah!) I really felt good this morning. We got quite a few things done at the office and ......the insurance check came in the mail!!!!!! It was a pain in the butt to get it so the funds will be available tomorrow at my bank, but I managed to do it. SO tomorrow after my 2:00 hearing is over, I'll take the rental car back and get a ride to the dealership where I'll actually buy my new Red Rav4. I can't wait!Congrats!
It's too damned hot in this apartment and I am getting grumpy.

Possible thunderstorms in DC in the next few hours. It reached 100 degrees again today ( I think it's about the 6th time this month). It didn't get that hot down here today. In fact, it's been quite pleasant. Low 90s, I would say.
I'm getting excited for the Olympics. Rock Center is doing a previoew of tomorrow's opening ceremonies
Danny Boyle says don't go to the bathroom during the first 15 minutes of the Opening Ceremony. He says the first hour shouldn't be missed, but definitely don't miss the first 15 minutes
Jose will have to go aways back to figure out tack, bra, puss puss.
