Well, you've read the notes, the notes had no bananas, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently eating some bananas.

Morning all.
That is all.
-
Oatmeal, raisins, cinnamon and coffee
-
Now it's time to wash the bowl and then off to the office.
-
A long mid-morning meeting with no chance of escape and then back to the Gates Foundation.
I'm tired already.
-
But, I have a job with health insurance and a paycheck. I can't complain (too much).

Oatmeal, flaxseed and strawberries. hazelnut coffee brewed in my new Keurig coffee maker

This morning I fixed my hair, put on my makeup and put on my work dress

hi ho the glamarous life

Tonight however Vixdad and I will go out for a romantic dinner for two at a pricey steakhouse. We generally wouldn't be that extravagant however we received a $100 gift card last Christmas ....
that should cover half the bill!
-
Well I must get going and get the Vixter to College
-
I may not be back today

Congrats to BK on the Book inclusion....

Happy Anniversary to Dear Vixmom!
-
Good Luck w/the second interview, John.
-
Yes, I'm at work and I should be paying attention to Bill and Melinda (Gates) but I'm here instead.
-
I did not watch the debate (or any of the debates). My gag reflex is too sensitive. I know what I need to know and a debate won't change anything.
-
Goodbye for now (Reds).
-
;D
-
Morning.
Happy anniversary to Vixmom, have a great evening. :) :)
-
Watched the debate and about an hour of the post debate talk. With ice cream.
-
Now I want to watch all the old Bond movies this weekend. Or maybe Matt Helm (? with Dean Martin).
Anyway, very lazy weekend I hope. Hot at work, yuck.
-
Got to go, work and all, maybe a donut when I get off the freeway.
John boy we're gonna need a lot of donuts, John boy we're gonna need a lot of donuts right now.
Need to find my cd.
;D
-
Good vibes everyone.
Wonderful Wednesday cheer.
;D
-
Good morning, all.
Don't know how I'm going to get everything done today that I must get done, but get it done I must.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I'm enjoying a quiet morning at home before I take off for Indianapolis in a few hours.
-
Happy 25th wedding anniversary to DR Vixmom and her ever-lovin' Vixdad!
-
Good morning, all! I stayed up too late watching the debate and the aftermath on CNN.
As a result, I am running late to Toyland. I need to be there to receive an Office Depot shipment. I'll proof ROBERTA while I wait.
On the good news for Larry front, my first social security payment landed in my bank account ths morning. I'm now waiting for my musician's union pension to kick in.
I have nothing else to report except

I did not watch the debate (or any of the debates). My gag reflex is too sensitive. I know what I need to know and a debate won't change anything.
Thank you. I could not have phrased it better. Still, I may need to head to Staples for some binders full of women.

I saw that was the "trend" from the debate. Foot in Mouth disease seems to be back, although this time it's not as severe as 47%
-
BK, the book on adult musicals sound interesting. One of the more famous quotes for "A Little Night Music" when it opened was from, I think, Clive Barnes, who wrote, "God, an adult musical!" But that's not what the book has in mind, is it?

My favorite quote was "We are children of the same God," only he left off what his campaign keeps saying: only some of you are ugly and poor relations.

I got my copy about a week ago: it covers "Hair," "Let My People Come," "Oh, Calcutta!," etc. I bought it for the photos.

Happy Anniversary, Vixmom and Vixdad!

Happy Anniversary to DR Vixmom and to Vixdad.
-
It took forever to get to Toyland: the subway was tied up because of school kids going to the Museum of Natural History and to Lincoln Center. I knew we were in trouble when we were told the next train would arrive in 7 minutes; that meant there was a block somewhere on the line between 86th Street and 242nd.
As a result, because this school activity blocked traffic, at 34th Street the train went express and those of us who get off at 28th had to leave the train and wait for the next one. This old coot is offended for several reasons, the primary one being that these kids ride the trains and buses pretty much for free on our dime and we, who count on the MTA for our travel, are screwed: no seats, overcrowding, long waits. It's even worse on the afternoon buses, which fill up with loud, noisy, often fighting, children heading home.
-
How wonderful that the children are going to the museum today!
-
And I AM going to the wash today!
-
'bout time to pack up the computer, load the car, and head west. See ya when I get to Indy!

Well the postman has delivered my retirement check to someone else....and I can't report it missing until October 25th...... So I have NO money.....

WHAT!!?

Yes, I have no bananas.
I went to the market yesterday, but yes, I bypassed the bananas.
Thus, yes (and yea, verily!) I have no bananas today.

That's terrible! DR JRand62, I hate to be nosy, but can't you have direct deposit?
-
Oh yes DR ELMORE - I am setting that up now......but October's check will probably be a long time being replaced.

TOD: Have you thought about featuring GUY HAINES in any of the Outside the Box episodes?
He's too busy for the likes of us.

I'm up after VERY little sleep. I simply had too much stuff running around in the windmills of my mind and I think I finally fell asleep at five-thirty or thereabouts.
-
Four meetings in two hours this morning. And all in different buildings. Oy.
-
I know the feeling. I only had one meeting today but in the midst of deadline meetings are not helpful and I just found out I have another meeting on Friday on a different floor.

And the word of the day is: MUCRO!
And The Song Of The Day Is: AUTUMN LEAVES
-
I don't know if any of you watches "The Voice", but I have enjoyed the audition segments the past few seasons. Not so much the actual battles once the competition begins...at least until this year.
A week ago I saw a promo for the first battle and noted that two singers I had really liked in auditions were being pitted against one another in a battle round. Both were on Team Cee Lo (Cee Lo Green).
I wondered why Cee Lo was pairing the two up since I considered them two of his best and he could only carry one forward. During the rehearsals, the song Cee Lo picked for them was Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love" which he thought suited both their voices. When the rehearsal began it was apparent that Amanda Brown was going to blow everyone away with her vocal. Cee Lo then expressed concern about Trevin Hunte whom Cee Lo pegged as the one who could win it all. Amanda was holding her own against him, and the unspoken truth was that Cee Lo considered Amanda expendable (apparently). At any rate, the "battle" went down and it was a stunning performance by the pair who complemented one another beautifully. Cee Lo was distraught and the other judges were poised to exercise this season's new feature -- the "steal". This was introduced to help further vocalists who -- in such pairings as this one -- deserved to continue on. In the past, the loser went home...but subsequent pairings would yield singers nowhere near as good as the one(s) who went home.
Thus it was that Cee Lo, because he wanted to be part of Trevin's journey to overcome his shyness and self-doubt, selected Trevin. All three remaining judges buzzed in for the steal and Adam Levine won the hand of Amanda Brown.
This is the battle performance, which I think is brilliant:
Vision of Love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9k7CNeHSB4&feature=related)
The sad part was that Amanda knew Cee Lo had not considered her anything other than expendable when he matched her with Trevin. He realized it, too, and agonized over his choice. After Amanda picked Adam to be her coach she graciously said she was sad to not be working with Cee Lo any longer but she felt things happen for a reason and she's looking forward to working with Adam.

Thanks, DR JRand! I had a smooth drive and am now enjoying a Starbucks nonfat vanilla latte in the lobby of the Indianapolis Hyatt.

Yes, that is what I hear...that getting face time with him is impossible.

And I am home. It was a longer day at Toyland than I had anticipated waiting for the delivery from Office Depot.
I had lots of questions for the copyists on ROBERTA.

Employer is playing heart attack games with me today. And I am not amused. Thankfully, I brought a bar of Lindt 90% dark chocolate for a bit of comfort. Now, if only I had some fried chicken ...

Got my KISS ME KATE recording back! An old friend I never knew. Will get into it in a couple of weeks.

Social Security, Retirement, Pension, Invoices, checks of all kinds...
VIBES they get to the DRs, early and often!
-
Back from picking up 1500 CDs - I thought it would be 15 boxes of 100, just like our pressing plant does, but no, that would have been to smart and easy to do - instead I received forty-nine boxes of thirty CDs. I am exhausted.
-
Had two scoops of chicken salad on lettuce for lunch - no bread and less than a tablespoon of ranch dressing. So, I think I've worked that off, frankly.
-
Have eaten a grilled cheese on sourdough....and am finishing off a "tuna salad" salad.

And we're now almost on page 4, so....

Well, speaking of not having bananas...I remembered hearing a small part of this song some time ago and found this on YouTube:
"I'VE GOT THE YES! WE HAVE NO BANANA BLUES (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtftl0KJnwE)" by The Jazz-O-Harmonists.
It's not the same version as I remembered, but it's definitely the same song. I also saw that there's a version sung by Isabelle Patricola (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MRtbMmdaNk).
:D

Sorry for your houseguest situation, Matthew.

So, in the midst of the stress week over the upcoming job interview, I get an email from my current employer saying something to the effect that since my last day of employment is Friday, just make sure I fill out my time sheet one last time and it'll be processed next Tuesday.
Huh? HUH??? WTF????
No answer from anyone for hours. My supervisor finally got out of meetings and was shocked and mystified, too.
Then the woman from my employer finally calls back. "Oh, we have the wrong John. Sorry."
That's about it. She repeated it three times. But that was it.
Sorry.

Most the day an extremely long hose connected to a truck has been spraying the planted areas with mulch.
There was a two hour break for lunch and to refill the truck. They will probably finish at sundown. I hope so, we don't want them back tomorrow.
-
We're moving up next Monday's announcement to tomorrow morning, thanks to Varese Sarabande's surprise announcement that they'll be announcing FIVE club cd releases on Sunday at midnight. So sick of these games. So, have been rushing all day to get everything prepped and other than the eBlast, everything is.
-
Keith has spent most of the day scrubbing the decks and cleaning all the stone where the dirty mulch residue lands. He is not a happy camper. This project, of course, should have been completed by now.

So ... is your houseguest a human, Matthew? Or perhaps an unwanted animal or insect?
Human. Old school friend of the DP. Well, 20 years ago anyway. Thanks to Facebook, they re-connected - well, sorta - it's a hot mess. It's one of those situations where it's the DP's friend and I really don't need to be his friend. But I've been "left" with him since Monday, and I feel my space has been violated, etc... I just don't feel the need to be-friend him.

I know, real Christian of me. But as they say, God helps them who helps themselves.

Isn't he going out and doing things? Were is he from?
He's from Pennsylvania. Broke as anything. Won't go into SF alone, and didn't want to go when I offered to take him in on Monday. DP said he'd be fine on his own, and I wouldn't have to worry about him, but he hasn't left the couch since Monday afternoon. (and eating our food, using our internet, tv, etc) If the DP and him had a better friendship, I would feel different, but the DP is flippant about it as he's not here all day. I can tell he wishes he weren't here either. But since he has no (excuse this) BALLS to do anything about it, we are stuck. I certainly am not in the position to do anything either, I don't know him and really don't need to. (I believe I've said that before a few times)
-

I'm not spending a dime on him. I've already provided him with food, shelter and INTERNET. And he's broke
-
Wow, he spent the money to fly out to you from PA just to sit in your place all day!!!!
I can understand not wanting to go to SF on his own, especially if he doesn't have any money, but passing on a free ride. Something is wrong with him.
Have you seen his return ticket home ;)

Why would anyone fly cross country if they were flat broke? I would suspect he has no intention of going back to PA. Sorry Matthew, just my opinion.
-
Bedtime for Bozzo!
G'night!
-
Matthew, I am sorry to say that you are a victim of a couch-surfer. He probably has no intention of leaving until he is forced. In fact, he may be looking for his next couch on Facebook right now, so that he has a place to go to when you give him the boot.
Don't ask me how I know this.

Matthew, I am sorry to say that you are a victim of a couch-surfer. He probably has no intention of leaving until he is forced. In fact, he may be looking for his next couch on Facebook right now, so that he has a place to go to when you give him the boot.
Don't ask me how I know this.
He came out to San Diego for a wedding, and decided to spend a week in SF. However, that week in SF had to do with someone he met online. That turned out to not happen at all. (big surprise).
He's suppose to leave on Sunday. I believe he will. I'm encouraging the DP to have him change his fight to sometime sooner. I'd even help pay for that change if necessary.

That's good. And this is one of many reasons why Facebook is evil.

I may post notes early and get to bed early now that I suddenly have to be up at six in the morning.

In this case, it wasn't Facebook. And this being a family site, I won't divulge the site.

This being HHW, should TCB try to guess?

I've been paying bills (at work)
all most of the day. I have to compile a report of the invoices that are going to be paid this month, but because one of our vendors has so many invoices, I'm splitting it into two chunks. Fortunately, the accountant, who will get all of this information, doesn't mind the report being in two parts. I'm very grateful for that.

I might have some ideas, too. ;)

But I won't because it's time for me to go home.
So, I'm going home. :)
Until later!

Oh. I thought you said thanks to Facebook they reconnected.

I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink.

Well, "Dreamgirls" is over. And they botched what could have been some very good things. Anika Noni Rose sings "Ain't No Party" during her audition, but it's not used in the film. Why? Better than any of the new material. Also, they filmed the song between Effie and C.C. before she sings "One Night Only," again a favorite that should have been included.

That's it for me. Night, all.

Yes, but only because they went to high school together. Very innocent. The reason he's out here is a wedding and something other than Facebook
