I received a nice original newspaper photo of Frances Farmer today. And I have ordered a new book called Indiana Television that has a nice photo of Frances on the set of Frances Farmer Presents on the cover.....it was a very successful show, and they certainly didn't spare any expense in building her a nice set and getting her the best movies.....

I don't know what I singed up for recently or who sold my email address, but I have been getting a HUGE amount of spam this week. Like 20 or 30 an hour?
Thank goodness AOL is good at separating the spam from the real emails!
I unreleated news, why is Donald Trump such a goofball? Is he losing his mind or something? He just seems to get crazier and crazier.
Good Morning To Everyone
Home in Florida
TOD part 2:
I must also add Mac and cheese. Boxed or home made, it is all good!
(oddly enough, I didn't care much for it as a kid)
In other news, a popular Indian comedian was killed in an auto accident yesterday. Punjabi language cinema favorite Jaspal Bhatti died in the wreck when the car he was riding in hit a tree.
He and other cast members were traveling to promote his latest comedy film which opens on Friday, and which he also produced and directed, titled POWER CUT.
The film's leading man Jasraj Bhatti and the leading lady Suril Gautam (this is the first film for each) were both seriously injured along with another passenger who may or may not be an actor in the film (none of the news reports mention who he was).

Very sad. He was a very, very funny guy, and I imagine the film's opening will be rather bittersweet. I do hope the injured performers make a full recovery.
It does look like a fun film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU64LaeS3xU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU64LaeS3xU)
I shall scan the Frances photo tonight DR MBARNUM......after I return from Salem....Mass NOT Or.
Did you get your new suit DR DOUG R?

Tod: rye bread. Butter. Radishes.Swiss cheese. Maybe charcuterie.all together with cornichons and olives on the side.
I keep thinking that I'd like a tablet and am considering buying a Kindle Fire HD. It was released this week in the UK and I was looking at a demo model in a store today. I thought it was quite impressive. What would you use it for? Since my computer broke a couple of days ago, I have been using my tablet as I would my laptop. SO, I've come to hate the tablet because of the writing that I have to do and cannot do easily without a keyboard.

Good morning. I've been to Costco and back hoping to get new tires, and it turns out they don't carry my size so I had to order them (and pay for them). They should be here in a few days.
Tomorrow, the DP and I are heading up to Lake Tahoe for the weekend. We are seeing Leon Russell in concert. I, of course, have heard of him, but the DP has not and so far is not impressed. I heard it's a good show. I'll definitely report back.
MBarnum, there's a place just back of the office that I tried for the first time today. (I don't usually leave campus for lunch.) Anyway, it's called India Chaat and it had wonderful Indian street food for lunch. And there were previews of upcoming Bollywood movies as well as musical numbers from some of the films playing on the big screen. The walls also had several pictures of Bollywood stars on the walls.
And in more unrelated news:
I watched the final presidential debate and I must say that my favorite part is when the families of the two debators come onstage and everyone is nice to everyone else. It warms my heart.
My favorite was when one of Romney's little grandson who couldn't be more than 4 years old was chatting up Obama. It was adorable. Such a cute kid and the president seemed like he was having fun listening intently to the little guy.

That was because the little boy was telling the President of the United States, "Your wife looks just our nanny."

Radish sandwiches? I dunno. It's what we would eat for breakfast in Germany. I eat it whenever I have to toss something together quickly.

I bet she meant "dragonflies.
From DR Laura:QuoteI bet she meant "dragonflies.
;D I did.
I believe it was in Michigan & NJ that we had fireflies. I don't know why I typed that.
I will go back, but mostly because the food was really good. There was only one dish I wasn't thrilled with: sev puri, which tasted like fried carbs. But the chicken curry had a whole cardamom pod in it, and that flavor was driving me crazy. Also a good lentil dish and roti.MBarnum, there's a place just back of the office that I tried for the first time today. (I don't usually leave campus for lunch.) Driving home last night from the hospital I got caught in a hurricane like rain storm. I drove very slowly for a few miles and then it stopped. But looking in my rearview I could still see the storm.
That wacky Floridian weather
I'm off to Los Angeles (i.e. Burbank) today and Monsterpalooza.

I bet DR Sandra could come up with a recipe for meatloof.

I used to serve it at my annual radish party, aka Noche de los Rabanos, on Dec. 23.

Today I'm meeting with the lyricist on the musical that he has written and I'll play 2 songs for him that I set to music in the last few weeks. Hopefully it will go well and we can continue the process. He has written lyrics for 18 songs in this musical, which I'm thinking will be more of a "song cycle". We shall see....
See, you can get good things out of stale political debates!
DR JohnG, that makes me curious about something...how many here are Facebook friends with any of their former teachers?
I am FB friends with my old Theatre Arts teacher from High School.
About five radish dishes, then stuff for the poeple who don't like radishes. But many of the guests tried to outdo each other with the inventive radish dishes they would come up with. Terrines, Indian-style curries with lamb, lentils and radishes, you name it. I once braised short ribs in a mix of celery, onion and radishes with a touch of garlic.I used to serve it at my annual radish party, aka Noche de los Rabanos, on Dec. 23.
What else would you serve at Noche de los Rabanos?

I am FB friends with my old Theatre Arts teacher from High School. It has been such fun catching up with her, and she is thrilled to hear from past students, including many who were in her classes and plays at the same time I was...which would account for the majority of my High School friends.
No doubt many of my other high school teachers are on Facebook, but can't think of many I would care all that much to catch up with...grade school, yes...but most of those teachers are probably long gone.
DR elmore I'm glad you will be home from DC before the "frankenstorm" hits.

Interesting! According to the latest poll numbers; it looks like not only will gay men and lesbian women be allowed to marry in Washington State, but they may also be able to smoke pot at the reception.

I tried a friend's recipe for a wild rice casserole. Mine didn't come out all fluffy likes his. Either I don't begin with the best rice, I did something wrong, or I'm missing his secret ingredient of bacon.

DR Cillaliz what did the new cat sitter have to say for herself? While it wasn't nice of her to move your bills without asking I am much more disturbed by how Callie was when you got back. She did not call to tell you of these problems? That is really bad. Poor kitties!

Thinking about this response, it is rather ignorant from a person who cares for animals. I would not want to trust her with a serious situation, not that this couldn't have been one.

UPDATE! Just talked to Larry. Sharon is doing well. She is up, and even smiling! Her attitude is good, and falls in line with the Sharon we know, love and respect. However, she is still isolated, so no visitors. He sounded great. I will keep you up to date!
Callie wasn't well when I got home. She was hissing and howling at me, something she just doesn't do and I've never seen her act the way she was acting in the 10 years she's lived with me. I stayed wtih her but gave her space and just talked to her for about an hour, then ran to the grocery store. She had calmed a little when I got home and let me start to clean her off. Then she started throwing up. (Sorry if this is a bit graphic). I stayed with her and cleaned her up and brushed her. Just before bed she ate some food and kept it down and she was much better in the morning. I'm afraid to think of what would happened if I had been gone another day

Jennifer, she cleaned a little too, she said she was just trying to help me organize, something we talked about doing in the future, when I was home. She had trouble the first night with callie and said she didn't call because she didn't want to interrupt my trip. Then I asked why she didn't clean her off and she said she just figured Callie would do it herself. This is sticky liquid that dries very hard. You can't brush it out you have to get a wet rag and loosen it up.
She probably had good intentions, but what she really wants is me to hire her to work on my house. I told her that's not what I asked her to do, I asked her to care for the cats. She said she knew that, but she wanted to make the house nice for me.

Our best pet sitters have been our son's.
I am back from a ver-r-r-ry long day riding on a bus from Lebanon, OH, to Nelsonville, OH, and back, with a lunch stop in Logan, OH, and a ride on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway (http://www.hvsry.org). I told my Mother and Dolores the next time they want to go on a day trip, I'll drive them.

I don't think that it's the bacon that makes rice fluffy. You probably just need to experiment a few more times...especially if it tastes fine.
Yes, but it adds extra liquid. I sauteed onions & celery in butter. I think I need more water & less butter. When returned for seconds, and thirds, each time it was somewhat fluffier. :)

The hissing and howling would seem to suggest that Callie was either mistreated or, at least, frightened by that woman and that she blames you for whatever happened because you left her with that person.
Well, Cillaliz, unplug your phone or turn off the ringer. Don't watch tv or listen to the radio. You can avoid most of it that way. It's what I've been doing for the last six months.
Just decided something fun - we're going to premiere episode one of season two's Outside The Box at the November 4th Kritzerland show!
