Well, you've read the notes, the notes were scarrry on account of Halloween, and now it is time for you to post until the scarrry cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: OBAMBULATE!
-
Boo! Trick or Treat~~ Happy Halloween everyone!
Sending vibes to everyone affected by Sandy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have a wonder filled day all!
-
Good morning, all.
Great to see you, DR Danise. Hope all is well.
Vibes for all.
-
And the word of the day is: OBAMBULATE!
Let's not get too political.
-
;D
-
Happy Halloween, trick or treat. :o

Last night DR Jane wrote:
People don't offer very often. Has she not tried peanut butter because of the recommended age to wait to feed it?
Actually a fair amount of people will give Reese's peanut butter cups. Most people trick or treat with their parents. And they aren't gonna eat that if they are allergic.
I don't know why she hasn't tried peanut butter. I'm sure if she was allergic that she would have had a reaction to something else she'd eaten by now.
They don't let you try it at daycare. Schools aren't allowed to have peanuts. My sis doesn't really like it. So she's just never let her try it. I would have had her try it by now for sure.

La dee DA dee dah DAH!

Last night DR TCB wrote:
Perhaps it has something to do with the way the child arrives at the daycare. The center may have a rule that when the child leaves they have to be dressed the same way as when they arrived.
No, it's not a rule. Because you bring your kid in and leave their clothes (plus extra clothes) in their cubby. So they don't even see what the kids are wearing. There are always extra sweaters and stuff.
I think they just thought it was cold out and didn't feel like taking the extra clothes off. I just felt bad because the kids are too young to say they are too warm. I tried to tell my niece that if she was too warm she could tell them.
-
Happy Halloween. I am so excited for later.
Right now tonight is supposed to be over 50F and probably not raining. It is supposed to be only 1mm of rain this afternoon. So hopefully it will stop by 6pm.
-
Hi and bye DR Danise!
-
It's is Halloween. October 31st!!!
Today is the day of the year when the veil between our world and the spirit world is at its thinnest, so communication with the other side is easier than ever. It is also the day when spirits can move to different planes of the other world depending on what they have been doing.....that is, they can be promoted or demoted....
SO you can expect strange happenings, noises, and visions today if you are particularly tuned in.
Last night must have been T/T night in Greencastle. As I walked to the theatre from the parking lot there was a group of children running behind me....I turned to look, and there was a hot dog staring me in the face.
Tonight is T/T night in my town.....during the late afternoon daylight hour....but I will be gone....
-
Last night I took a present to Britt Cryer.....I thought it might be something she and David already had - but it had been given me in a box of Playbills years ago. It was a program from COME SUMMER, a musical they did in 1969. The show starred Ray Bolger and Margaret Hamilton and was directed by Agnes De Mille.
Turns out that is the show they were doing when they met, AND they did NOT have a Playbill from it, so I was happy to give it to them. David won a Theatre World Award for the show.
Britt told me that she had worked with Agnes for six months helping her in her classes, and that Agnes never bothered to remember her name. She said Agnes paid her $2 an hour to help her and always wrote the check out to "Britt" and told her to fill in the rest. Agnes also tried to get her son to go out with Britt, but Britt said...."Uh....he wasn't interested...." LOL

Good morning, all!
It's still very quet in Manhattan. Not much sound of traffic or people. As long as the power's off downtown, I can't go to Toyland and work, so I'll hang out. Who knows? My new fridge may show up today. I hope it's not sitting somewhere buried under water.
I got a curious email today from the person who sent me the "who the f**k are you" email that caused a lot of problems on ROBERTA on Oct 9. I'll leave it at that. There's too much madness about this situation.
So, more coffee!

DR JRand62, it sounds like you're having a great time on THE CRUCIBLE! I am so happy for you.

I got an email from facebook today saying that someone had been trying to access my facebook account from a place that wasn't my usual city. I didn't realize that facebook did this. Sort of interesting. They made me change my password even though apparently this person did not get into my account.
I went directly to facebook (didn't click on the link) just in case it wasn't a real message. But it was and i was easily able to change my password.
-
DR Jennifer, you are the second person in Canada that I've heard that had that same Facebook incident.
-
Though I was expecting the worst, I had a very easy commute this morning on both trains to the office this morning. However, now that I am in the office I found that I cannot make the remote connection to our client's network in Philly, so I don't have a lot that I can do right now.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I'm getting ready for a lunch visit with my friend Becky. Haven't seen her since early May because she and her husband spent the summer on their boat in Michigan. We have a lot of catching up to do!
-
Just checking in to see if everyone's OK after the storm.
I'll look through the last few days. Keeping low pending stuff going off in cyberspace!
-
Good to see DR FJL!
-
Sending more vibes to all -- wherever you happen to be.
-
Thank you DR ELMORE.....I actually have fun just about every place I go....I finally learned to ignore the idiots.... I am not ALWAYS successful....but I try.
-
This is certainly not to make light of the troubles of our East Coast HHW'ers....but I have to say that the path of destruction of Hurricane Sandy has reached the inland area here in my backyard.
-
Off to do a couple of errands before meeting Becky - bye for now!
-
I think Guy Haines should definitely sing Love Look Away at the Kritzerland show.
-

Trick or Treat greetings to one and all. Still no power and the house is down to 60 degrees. 65 was nicer. When I can, I'll post a picture of the cause.
DR Jrand62, I hope the cleanup crews don't take too long getting to your neighborhood! Believe you me, I know what the waiting is like when dealing with a mess like thaf!
-

That gave me quite a big laugh this morning!

Glad BK approved of the cheeseburger. As the 50-year veteran waitress described it, it's ground from cuts of their better steaks. I want another one. Right now.
-
On phone now and have to go. Again. Later this afternoon I'll be on the laptop in a place where I can post longer.
-
I heard from my colleague Curtis that the power is back on at Toyland, but the Village is still powerless. He also alerted me - although I already suspected it - that the buses are packed since they're also doubling for the subway transportation. I wil try to get down there over the weekend, depending on how packedthe buses may be.
-
I just went ahead and cleaned it up DR CHAS SMITH so as not to create any more work for the crews.
DR MBARNUM I got the idea from DR DtM who posted a picture of the tornado aftermath in his neighborhood last year:
A turned over lawn chair.

Did you hold a mass funeral for all the dead leaves the storm left behind?

Sad news for fans of The Beach Party movies. It is being reported the ever shimmying Candy Johnson passed away on Oct. 20th. :-[

Considering feral cats usually only live a few years, he was pretty lucky.
-
DR Jennifer, you are the second person in Canada that I've heard that had that same Facebook incident.
The weird part is that the person did not get into my account. So just someone was trying to access it but did not have the password. It's interesting that they want you to change the password when the hackers did not have the password.
-
I'm up and awaiting the arrival of the helper.
-
I'm very sorry, DR Laura. But I'm sure he lived a good life under your watchful eye.

Here is part of an email I just received from DR Ben:
Greetings,
We may have spoken to some of you but I'm sending a mass mail to let you know that we are OK. We have no power. We are at a friend's apartment right now using his wireless so we can send out this notice.
We lost power on Monday evening at 8:45 and have been without it ever since. Our apartment is OK and we are OK. The freezer has defrosted but we have other non perishable food in the apartment. We can also venture uptown to get things if we need them. Originally the zone without power was all the way from 39th Street to downtown Manhattan (Battery Park City and below). As we walked uptown today we saw that power is back on 6th Avenue around 26th Street and everything is fine from there and further north. We don't have any indication when we will get power back so we just sit in the dark at night and go to bed early like in the 1800s when people went to bed at sundown. My office is also without power and I don't know when they will be able to reopen either.
I can't think of anything else to tell you other than to stress the fact that we are fine. There is much worse damage in parts of New Jersey, Long Island and Queens. We only have no power. The neighborhood looks fine except for a lack of electricity. We hope to have power in the next few days but that's up to Con Ed and the damage caused by the exploding transformer.
If you want to speak to us feel free to call. You can respond to this e-mail as well but I won't be replying any time soon since I don't know when we will have Internet again.
That's it for now.
-
Just a quick note to say we are fine. I haven't read anything. I sent out an e-mail and most of you should have received it. Dear Larry has also said he relayed info about our safety.
Until later love and hugs.
-
My sister in Doylestown PA has electricity but the cable was blown out. To read her text messages you would think that was on a survivalist adventure.
-
Sorry to read about Tabby Tom, DR Laura.
-
Stay safe, DR Ben (along with the rest of you New Yorkers!)
-
Thinking about a quick jog, but if I'm to do it I have to leave in ten minutes.
-
I have had about 20 phone calls this morning about donations for those needing items. The number in their ad is 212-362-29300, which is very close to my number, I think it's great people want to make donations but I'm getting tired of answering the phone!
-
RIP Tabby Tom.
-
And the word of the day is: OBAMBULATE!
And The Song of The Day Is: WALKING HAPPY
-
Great to see you posting, Ben, and even better to know that, except for the electricity, all is fine.
-
Oh my I got a BIG box from Amazon today. My copy of Indianapolis Television, CD's of music from Herman's Hermits and The Animals, DVD's - House of Dark Shadows, The Chapman Report, and Night of Dark Shadows - and a set of Roger Corman movies including Bloody Mama and The Young Racers.

I'm sorry Laura. Lovely cat.
-
Thank you, all. He has been around here for so long. It will be strange without him in the backyard.
-
BK, you seem more of a Mama Rose than a Gypsy Rose. Just sayin'.

I always hated driving thru the Holland Tunnel. I enjoyed the Lincoln Tunnerl, but not the Holland. I have no idea what made the difference, except maybe I used the Lincoln Tunnel more often.

Lucy Ricardo: The policeman said traffic was backed up all the way to East Orange, New Jersey.

Thank you.

Hey everybody. Back from school already. Many great costumes this year. The 8th grade knew who I was (Jesus from Godspell) right away as they watched the movie with me last year. Others asked, and I just said "Jesus", and they kinda stopped asking after that!!! I'll show them a clip of the movie on Friday.
Sorry about your cat, DR Laura. It's great that you are able to care for strays like that.
Vibes to the East Coasters and glad to see that they are doing well.
The rest of the day will be spent watching "Weeds" and hanging with the pups.
-
Posting from laptop (yay!!) -- but still from Panera Bread. The tree/wire mess down the road that's causing our outage is finally being worked on, at least, but I don't think it'll be up till tomorrow based on what I've heard about all the things that went wrong when two huge trees within two blocks went down.
-
Sorry to hear about the cat, DR Laura.
-
Sad about the feral cat, DR Laura. Boy, he sure did live a long life...and, evidently, on his own terms!
-
Been thinking about all the East Coast HHWers. Hope all are safe and sound -- and that those without power are back on the grid soon. I know I'm most E and T but still value all you HHWers and certainly was thinking about those in Sandy's path. Be safe!
-
BK, you seem more of a Mama Rose than a Gypsy Rose. Just sayin'.
I think it's only polite to withhold judgment till we've seen him in costume.
-
Gotta scram and get to the theatre -- cleaning up after Ghost Talk (sell out crowds and rave reviews so that is always exciting).
-
I just got an e-mail with the subject line, "Wake Up & Save On Your Favorite Light Roasts!" I finally figured out that it was talking about coffee. I was trying to figure out how you managed to have light roast beef.

When I got up at seven this morning, it was so warm in the apartment that I thought I had left the heat on by mistake.

Back from a lovelier than lovely lunch with Becky at our favorite Panera. On the way home I bought some more treats to hand out tonight because our basket looked a little skimpy. It's cold and rainy, so I don't expect too many kids. It's about time to turn on the porch light.
-
Four!
-
Good news today. But I can't share it just yet. Tomorrow maybe.
-
Ooooo, DR John G, are we allowed to guess?
-
Good news today. But I can't share it just yet. Tomorrow maybe.

You are. My only hint is that it does not involve the police, that dwarf and the missing pair of handcuffs. :)

Damn! Don't do that, John.

Well, then why bother to guess?
-
I am getting several e-mails regarding available rental cars in Newark, NJ. I wonder why that would be?
-
From DR elmore:
Not in the least. I thought I implied that by mentioning other friends in the same building being okay.
LOL, While I find the loss of power unpleasant I don't equate that with not being okay if everything else is fine.
-
Last night DR Jane wrote:

My sis doesn't really like it. So she's just never let her try it. I would have had her try it by now for sure.
I find your sister's logic funny.

DR TCB children often arrive with warmer clothes on in the morning that are too warm for the afternoon. I don't think most teachers would have a problem leaving off some of that layering. I mean a wool hat & an extra layer of pants seems excessive-lol

This is totally great!
-
DR Jrand62, I hope the cleanup crews don't take too long getting to your neighborhood! Believe you me, I know what the waiting is like when dealing with a mess like thaf!
;D
DR Chas I hope you don't lose more heat at home. To me being cold is the worse part about losing power.
No, the worst part is flipping on the light switch in the hall to see what the current termperature is, and still not being able to read it.
That's what flashlights are for ;)
I can't count how many times I flipped the non-working light switch the other morning when we lost our power.
-
Another cute costume.

The weather around here is very strange. The City of Bremerton, which is about 30 miles from Tacoma, has had 4.86 inches of rain. Tacoma has had less than one inch.

see you later

vix mom is roughing it, for sure!

Do you have a working fireplace, vixmom?
-
Nice to see you DR Vixmom. I appreciated your 2 text messages very much. I didn't want to use your phone battery up or I would I have written back....How are your parents?

not real cold but about 50 just annoying cold

Ok the vixter is anxious to go will try anf check in later

It appears you got off at a somewhat reasonable hour.

no power, heat or phones at home

VIBES IT IS FAR LESS THAN 14 DAYS!!!
You might want to go to work just to be warm.

But you do have water. Treasure that even if it is too cold to shower in it.

Especially at night and first thing in the morning.

14 days?
-
Even more than a day without power would be horrible, to me! I feel for you DR Vixmom, and all those without power.
-
One of the lessons I learned was to shower & wash my hair before a big storm was expected. The problem with most power outages you don't receive advanced notice.
-
It is a shame DR Ben's workplace doesn't have power instead of DR Vixmom's.
-
Fourteen days?? That is horrible.
-
Bryan has been without power the last few days. He stocked up on candles and his house smells of Autumn and pumpkin pie. He said it isn't too bad except it's getting very cold inside the apartment. He is listening to records and catching up on reading while enjoying the candlelight.
If Bryan says it is getting cold it must be very cold to the average person.
-
DR vixmom--Here's hoping your electricity will be back on much sooner than 14 days!
-
Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween, Kevin! Are you going as James Brolin for Halloween?
Not tall enough.
-
Speaking of the Brolins, I'm going to Las Vegas tomorrow to see the Mrs. again.
-
Today I started thinking about a generator. More people around here are getting them. Storms with this kind of destructive power should be coming through, what, every 10, 20, or 30 years? Not three times within twelve months. All this needs to do is happen again in winter conditions. And let's not even "go there". I'm going to call my electrician and have him explain the different levels of having a generator, give me ballpark costs on those that can run the furnace, fridge, and even one room of lights and TV, and make a decision.
-

Damn, Kevin, I really envy you! Be sure to shout out between songs, "Tom loves you."

Oh, DR Vixmom, I'm so sorry to hear that you and your parents are without power - and for so long! Let's hope they overestimated the time it will take...

What a fun time we had - first rehearsing at Casa Graae with fun folks like Jason, Susanne Blakeslee, Liz Larsen, John Randall and Diane someone, and Heather Lee. Then we went over to the retirement home and did the little show. The audience there is always fun - they're very appreciative of Jason and they just had a grand time. Our duet went wonderfully, and everyone did a great job. It was just forty minutes, then we went to Mo's for some food. Now I'm home awaiting the arrival of the trick or treaters.
-
The weather was quite nice. As good as can be expected for this time of year. It was low 50s and it didn't rain. I was wearing a sweater and then a longer sweater. And with gloves i was fine.

Right now i am eating a candy apple that my niece's got from their neighbor. I can't believe anyone would give a candy apple? But i guess this lady would know most of the kids coming to her (she lives 3 doors down from my nieces).
I love candy apples. But oddly this one is not that sweet. I've never tried one that was caramel or that sweet red stuff. I"m still eating it.
-
DR Dan (the Man) tell your sister in Doylestown she is lucky to have electricity. I just communicated with friends who don't.
-
My nieces went with my 3 year old niece's best friend.
Watching 2 three year olds is embarrassing. The boy kept asking for money (my other niece was collecting for the children's hospital). And my niece (3) kept asking for Smarties and asking for more candy. I kept having to say I was sorry.

She probably only gives the special treat to the children she knows. Even when I was young & we could expect anything some neighbors had special homemade treats for "special" children.

I hate that i can't take a picture of myself. I hate the way most people take pictures. So not even sure if i got one of my costume. I don't understand why people can't look in the camera shot to see if the picture is any good before snapping.
I think i can got some decent shots outside.
-
The weather here was awful for Trick or Treat, cold & drizzly. We had a few groups of kids, but most of them were being driven around by their parents. Lots of older kids, especially at the end of the time period.
-
This one family we know had a bunch of people outside scaring the kids. The mom was dressed up as a bride hanging from a tree. There was someone else popping out of a costume. Really cute.
-
The worst thing for me if there was no power would be I have a ton of food in my freezer.
-
One lady told my 3 year old niece she could take as much candy as she wanted. AND my niece helped herself 4 times.
Then another time a lady tried to stick chips in her bag. And my niece took them out and was about to give them back.
Her little boyfriend asked for money at least 4 times. His parents kept sending him up to the door alone. I went up with my niece so she wouldn't fall down the stairs. Or say/do anything worse than she was doing.
-
When i came home i saw someone driving kids around?? Who does that on a nice night. And it was 9pm. Who goes out that late?
-
The worst thing for me if there was no power would be I have a ton of food in my freezer.
Eat the ice cream first, like in JURASSIC PARK, then fire up the grill and cook all of the meat. That's what we did when Hurricane Ike visited SW Ohio in 2008.
-
Only two trick or treaters so far - I'm sure the onslaught will happen soon, but as always happens, a lot of people pass the house, even though it's well lit up outside.
-

We had a hard time deciding which houses to go to. Our rule was it had to have lights on and some type of Halloween decoration/pumpkin/or door open.
-
We went out from like 6:10pm till 7:40pm.
-
And they got lots of candy. There were tons of peanut M&Ms. But no reese's peanut butter cups or reese's pieces. :(
Lots of smarties (that is like M&Ms).Lots of chips.

I think at three years old you should go up with them. I can't ever remember being embarrassed by my children when T or Ting. Sorry :)
-
DR Jennifer, I have lots of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups leftover...
-
I don't understand why people can't look in the camera shot to see if the picture is any good before snapping.
Even worse when they show those horrible photos to other people as if they are something to be pleased with.
-
I was stunned at how expensive the Halloween candy was this year, especially the chocolate.
-
I quickly had to replace four of the light bulbs in the lamps at the front of the house and by the front door - it's really bright out there now. No Halloween decorations, though, save for myself.

Lights on is an absolute rule. I suppose decorations reduces the number of homes, which at their age can be good.

I expected it to look worse...

Jnae our generator is just a little gasoline run one with heavy duty power cord running throughthe window to plug inthe fridge one lamp and the TV
If we did that we would let in a lot of cold air. Still, it is something to consider.
There is a way to install a connection thru the wall of the house and the outside. Then you just plug the generator into the outside of the connecter and the power cord to the inside to plug in your applicances. This is probably not the time of year to install it, but you might consider it for next winter.

I guess I am confused, Jennifer. If this isn't a caramel apple or a red candy one; then what kind of candy apple is it that you are eating?

Halloween, can't beat the timing of this story.

I also opened the gate so that is helpful to let folks know they can come up to the house.

We've had quite a few already and it's still very early. Really cute costumes, but it's very easy to figure out what's the thing these days - lots of vampires.

I'm not sure that would work for us, too many walls. And I wouldn't want the generator sitting in the front of the house.

An open gate is very important. I wouldn't go through a closed on unless it was very obvious kids are going to the door, or there was ghost music playing or something more enticing than lights.

Who goes out that late? Sometimes parents who have to work until 8:00 p.m., but still want to share a few traditions with their kids before they outgrow them. I knew several people who had kids but didn't have the freedom to get off work at five o'clock.
-

No photos of you as Gypsy Rose Lee?

Doesn't quite seem as busy as last year, although we've had many kids so far. I've probably gone through two of the six bags I bought.

But, it's still early.

Maybe you can put dishes of the leftover candy on the tables at the show Sunday night?

Well, certainly my cast can partake at tomorrow's rehearsal and Saturday's run-through. I am getting a lot of exercise going back and forth from the computer to the front door.

In fact, if you put the generator in the front of the house and then built a small shed around it that matched the outside of your house; it might look very nice.

RIP Tabby Tom, the feral cat who lived in my backyard since 1999.

Oh, so sorry to see this DR Laura

Considering feral cats usually only live a few years, he was pretty lucky.
He had you. That's really lucky
-
I just got an e-mail with the subject line, "Wake Up & Save On Your Favorite Light Roasts!" I finally figured out that it was talking about coffee. I was trying to figure out how you managed to have light roast beef.
LOL, I read it as roast beef too!

You could put some sort of foam or towels to fill the gap in the window and keep the cold out

I wonder if there has been a run on Snuggies

I take them in the mirror sometimes, you just have to hold the camera without looking in it. It takes a few tries to get the camera just right

Well, I'm going to watch Lilly Ledbetter on The Colbert Report and then go to bed - 'night!
-
I am having such a hard time trying to find a cat sitter. And I worry about what happens if there is a snow storm when I'm gone. With Sharon I didn't worry, but I don't know with other people. So I'm going to go out to http://www.dogwoodpethotel.com/index.html (http://www.dogwoodpethotel.com/index.html) and check out their cat wing. I may be able to have all three cats stay in the same suite. There is a live in caretaker so if there is a storm someone is there to care for the animals. It's worth checking out. It seems to be more dog oriented, but they have a cat wing, so I'm thinking this may not be bad.

I interviewed Liz years ago when she was doing "Romance/Romance" at the Cohoes Music Hall. Then she got to do the TV version (either that or she did it before and it didn't air until after Cohoes). Always thought she was wonderful. And her appearances on BK's Varese Sarabande albums, especially "Ragtime Romeo," were always welcome.

Good luck with the catsitter, Cillaliz. I used to leave J.B. with a woman who goes to pet's homes when their owners are away. But I heard that J.B. bit her once, and that was the end of that. He's much better at the Tweet Suite with the other birds.
-
Nine!
-
Thanks John. I am really hoping this hotel thing works out. I was so spoiled for the past 7 years with Sharon coming into the house, but I'm thinking that taking them somewhere if they can all be together would be the best

I'm going to check it out on saturday, I'll let you know what I find out

That is the scariest Halloween picture I have ever seen!
-
The trick or treating was over by about eight-thirty. I'd say we had half the number of people from last year. I still have three full bags of candy. Go know.
-
Then Angel Reda came by to say hello with her friend. She was going to a big costumer party at LACMA - she was dressed as Little Bo Peep and let me just say there will be no male eyes and probably a bunch of female eyes on her skimpy little costume. It doesn't hurt that she's spectacularly beautiful.
-
