Morning all.
That is all.
-

-
just woke up - I can't beleiev how much I slept

I definitely do not feel up to work in a couple of hours
-
thank you all for teh get better vibes
-
Good morning all!
Vibes to VixMom and hopes she feels better soon.
This time change has me all mixed up. I can't get past eight o'clock without going to bed. I think I'll be better once I can sleep in this weekend.
Have a Wonder Filled day all!
-
Well, Minnesota came through for me. I was worried for a while (although they did re-elect Ms. Bachman, though by a very, very, very small plurality) but they defeated the Constitutional Amendment banning Marriage Equality!
AND the Judge in Iowa who was up for re-certification (usually just a pro-forma affair but he was one of the judges who affirmed Marriage Equality in Iowa and was targeted by the Religious Right and NOM for defeat) was retained!
AND Tammy Baldwin went from Open Lesbian U.S. House Member from Wisconsin to Open Lesbian Senator from Wisconsin!
Hooray for the Midwest.
-
Good morning, all.
Happy post-election vibes to all.
And get-better vibes for Vixmom.
I'm tired. I stayed up for the speech, so I'm running on empty this morning.
-
Good morning, all.
Coffee into the bloodstream, please.
-
I've been craving great donuts since yesterday's conversations about Stan's. To make matters worse, I was actually a little hungry while waiting for sleep to overtake me last night. It just happens I'd had a lighter than usual dinner, which would explain that -- and normally, big deal, if hungry I'd just get up and grab a snack. Right?
But I kept thinking about the damn apple fritters and peanut butter. And the dollar bag. (Stop that!!) So, while nothing will approach Stan's, and there's nothing at all peanut-buttery around here that I've ever known of, and all we have donut-shop-wise is the bland, ubiquitous Dunkin' (love their coffee, though), it just happens that the bakery in Shop Rite, my regular supermarket, does a very nice job with several things, including donuts, and I vowed to resign myself to getting up and running out for some this morning. A total indulgence.
As it happens, I didn't get nearly enough sleep, which leaves me without any appetite whatever for a while. But I'm up and the first cup of coffee is working its wonders, as is writing these paragraphs, so once again, this sounds like a plan. And I'm pretty sure they have a decent apple fritter. Therefore, Indulgence, here I come.
-
;D
-
Fell better vibes for vixmom. :)
-
Post election mellowness for everyone.
Maybe we can get back to extra time for our lives. With no robo calls, no unnerving commercials on tv and the radio.
Just more time for our lives.

Good morning, all! I was upt far too late with the election results and I'm sure the day will fnd me becoming more and more lethargic as the day goes by.
I am off to City Center to help Joshie with his work for the Encores! Gala, At sme point this huge mess of a storm is supposed to batter us silly and I want ti be inside and way from it as much as possible.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Safe and Healthy Vibs to everyone! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Back, with fritter and other delights. Their racks were full of fresh donuts. Doughnuts, too.
-
Do tater tot casseroles always have ground beef in them? I like ground beef. But the idea of the casserole sounds more appealing to me without the beef.
-
The apple fritter isn't frittery enough. Not by a long shot. They make a great donut and glaze, etc., there, but this doesn't touch the good California fritters. Nevertheless, the few things I picked out for myself are incredibly delicious and satisfying.
You know what you hardly ever see here? Bear claws. Maybe that's more a California thing.
Rightly or wrongly, I seem to associate good bear claws with former supermarkets Hughes and Boys Markets.
Do you have any Panera Bakeries near you? My Mom loves their bear claws
-
I haven't checked the local results yet-- debacles to come, I'm sure.
-
I, myself, adore their danish ring - several different danishes,(usually cherry, apple, cheese and blueberry) all baked together in a delicious ring
-
Panera just opened a store in my neighborhood on Union Square and 14th/15th Street. I have yet to go but I should check it out.
-
Kerry, he won a sixth term.
-
Deb, glad to see you here at this time of day. I guess it means you're not at the office. Sorry that you're sick but glad you're here!!!
-
called in sick today -
-
Oddly enough, I don't think I've ever had a pastry at Panera. Just an occasional sandwich and coffee, or even just coffee (in a mug, thank you very much), like when I must needs use the Wi-Fi.
-
Oh, what the heck.
Feel better vibes for DR VIXMOM although it's nice to see her here!!!
Yes DR MBARNUM - that is Catherine Damon who later starred in SOAP....as has been mentioned by other DR's. Britt said some nice things about her.
DR ELMORE both David and Britt were interviewed by Carol Easton for her biography of Agnes de Mille on the difficult situation during COME SUMMER. I have ordered the book...No Intermissions..... So between everyone and sundry, the story may be told..
-
I have some photos of The Crucible cast in costume.....not everybody....but lots of us....I shall post some later today.
I hope we don't lose power again withe the nor'easter
I can't imagine what the poor people on the south shore of the island are doing so many lost their homes and so many are still without power
Wednesday morning greetings! I have eaten my last solid food until after tomorrow's procedure. The real prep doesn't begin until this evening...
DR Vixmom, I'm so glad you stayed home today - HHW is a great place to convalesce!
Thank you. But normally, in a Nor'easter, whether a summer or winter one, we don't have that problem here. I'd only be concerned this time about possibly already-weakened trees or poles or what have you.
BUT --- should there be any problem, I have my "shelter" rain-check from last week already lined up.
As of now, the snow isn't sticking to anything.
I'd just never heard of a tater tot casserole till a few days ago. So not sure if the ground beef is a common ingredient.
Walked to the car this morning (earlier than usual, because I had a lot of work to do). And I discovered someone had smashed in the rear window on the driver's side. What a way to start the day. It took an extra hour to get it replaced. Ugh. Ugh all around. Am running around like crazy now. But I needed a two-minute break just to get revved up again.
I've been up since nine - a very long telephonic conversation with the East Coast Singer, who will be here next week so I can put together her Christmas show for the Signature Theater. Next week will be CRAZY.
-
DR JRand62, I like the Easton biography of deMill quite a lot. I also like drMille's two books, DANCE TO THE PIPER and AND PROMENADE HOME.
You might also enjoy her book on Lizzie Borden and "Fall River Legend."
Jennifer, a casserole can have anything that you want and nothing that you don't.
No matter what the recipe says, "do what you like with it" (a 1776 reference)!
That's good. Quite a few years ago, a friend of mine had his car broken into and all of his music (songbooks, vocal scores, etc.) were stolen. He was a vocal coach/instructor and practically EVERYTHING that he used for his job was taken. :P
From DR George:
No...if we were still together, I'm sure that we'd be married. He lives in Seattle and doesn't have a car, and his job takes him out of town for a week, every other week. I actually broke up with him because of the situation, not because we weren't getting along.
I know being with someone who travels all the time isn't easy, but wow. You don't seem to regret it though.
No...if we were still together, I'm sure that we'd be married. He lives in Seattle and doesn't have a car, and his job takes him out of town for a week, every other week. I actually broke up with him because of the situation, not because we weren't getting along.
I know being with someone who travels all the time isn't easy, but wow. You don't seem to regret it though.
No...and he totally understood, too. We have kept in touch and I've vistited him a couple times. He travels and always sends me postcards from his travels. :D
Postcards are fun to receive.
By Thanksgiving that suit will be back at the Costume Rental place......
Getting ready to leave in a bit....
I hope we don't lose power again withe the nor'easter
I can't imagine what the poor people on the south shore of the island are doing so many lost their homes and so many are still without power
I shiver at the thought of those still without power & homes dealing with the snow & cold.
Me, too.
By the way, Jane, I'm still working on those paella pix. Some are truly beautiful. Will post tomorrow or Friday.
-
Dr John G, thanks for letting me know.
-
Still doing my Cobb Salad diet and interestingly I think it's kind of working.
-
Picked up some packages, did some banking, and began working on liner notes two but haven't gotten very far. It's insane trying to keep up with all these projects and their needs.
ArnoldMBrockman, it's good to see you. Have you been posting and I just missed them? Things have been so hectic lately, that's entirely possible.
A wonderful review for last Sunday's show - spoilers galore for episode one of Outside The Box - if you want it to be a surprise do not read this review :)
I will take your word that it is a rave.
The apple fritter isn't frittery enough. Not by a long shot. They make a great donut and glaze, etc., there, but this doesn't touch the good California fritters. Nevertheless, the few things I picked out for myself are incredibly delicious and satisfying.
You know what you hardly ever see here? Bear claws. Maybe that's more a California thing.
Rightly or wrongly, I seem to associate good bear claws with former supermarkets Hughes and Boys Markets.
Maybe it is a West Coast thing, because we have them in Washington, also. Oh, and also the pastry version.
-
Do tater tot casseroles always have ground beef in them? I like ground beef. But the idea of the casserole sounds more appealing to me without the beef.
The beauty of makjing your own casserole is you can put anything you want in it :)
I'd just never heard of a tater tot casserole till a few days ago. So not sure if the ground beef is a common ingredient.
Yes, it is a common ingredient. In fact i don't think i've had it without ground beef, but it could be done with chicken or something else
Beautiful!
Walked to the car this morning (earlier than usual, because I had a lot of work to do). And I discovered someone had smashed in the rear window on the driver's side. What a way to start the day. It took an extra hour to get it replaced. Ugh. Ugh all around. Am running around like crazy now. But I needed a two-minute break just to get revved up again.
OH NO! John G I am so sorry to hear this
How did I miss this post earlier? Sorry, DR John G!
Thank you both. Just money I would have spent on unnecessary things like phone bills and electric bills.
Does your car insurance cover it? I know it covers chips in windshields with no deductible
called in sick today -
Vixmom, I believe you have come down with a case of sensible. Congratulations!
The French version of bear claws are available at the French bakeries here. A little lighter on the almond extract and more emphasis on the butter with an almond note.
Kentucky has this delicious fried pie with dried apples that they do in winter. Just wonderful. Now you've made me hungry. Oh, wait. I'm conscious; that explains it.
Home from school.
Yesterday, I went to the storage unit and went through all of my sheet music and pulled out things to scan into PDF's for my playing gig on the weekends. I use an iPad for all my music, so everything is portable. But the scanning that I have to do is probably more than I want, oh well, it's all good. It was like Christmas shopping in the storage unit. I found some things that I forgot I had, etc.
Vote away - we're currently in third place but all it takes are votes. Tell your friends. Anyone can vote. Yes, it's a silly popularity contest and those with the largest number of friends voting win - but why not play?
Juliana wrote me to thank me for making her act. Melody's mother did not and I guess that's par for the course right now.
Vote, vote, vote (that is three votes). The show that's above us, the Titanic concert has a big huge cast and all the Musical Theatre Guild people will vote. That's what this is all about, I'm afraid, but then again I have a LOT of friends :) Also, the Sterling's Next Great Stage Star thing which is running neck and neck with us has a lot of followers.
I went to get my flu shot today. The ones near me are only in December. But my sister wanted me to go with her. My niece bawled like a baby. :(
But so did the 4 year old after her.
So far my arm feels pretty good. Just a mild soreness and no fever.
-
I'm going to go watch Survivor.
Thankfully no snow yet here. Not one snowflake. And the temps next week look like they will be getting warmer. I saw one day (Monday?) is going to be 60F.
Well I went first with my own lady giving the shots. My sister went first, then younger niece, then older niece. They said that the youngest should go first. Cause when they see the needle they get upset. But if my sister hadn't gone first then how would she have taken care of my niece (who was crying way more AFTER the shot). We should have let my older niece go first, but she didn't want to. Cause she was quite anxious by the time it was her turn.
That''s what I did.
Voted. But you have to go thru all the categories. They should let you just click on whichever category you want to vote for. Juliana is in the lead.
As of right now Juliana, Jason and Kritzerland are all in first place
Watching a cheap DVD of a few old Martin and Lewis shows. The picture isn't great, but the sound is fine. And fun.
The real thing to vote for is the Kritzerland show, under Special Theater Presentation - it's toward the end of the ballot. We're currently in the lead :)
Not necessarily. Depends on the temperature in the upper levels of the atmosphere and where it is pulling the cold air from. Snow can accumulate up to 35 degrees depending on the temperatures aloft, ground temperature and dewpoint.
I just realized that if power were to be lost again here, we're past the point of decision -- there'd be no question of trying to get anywhere for the night. First, my driveway probably isn't passable. House is warm now, just bundle it up and ride it out, storm will be gone by mid-morning, gather things in the daylight and then get out.
I hate even thinking about this stuff...twice in two weeks.
You're Welcome!
I forgot to mention our exciting news, the landscapers finished today! We are thrilled they are gone. :) We are also very happy with the results.
-
I just realized that if power were to be lost again here, we're past the point of decision -- there'd be no question of trying to get anywhere for the night. First, my driveway probably isn't passable. House is warm now, just bundle it up and ride it out, storm will be gone by mid-morning, gather things in the daylight and then get out.
I hate even thinking about this stuff...twice in two weeks.
I didn't imagine you would consider leaving tonight. Where would you go?
was that your driveway in the picture or was that a stream?
That was it! Long sucker, eh? And you should see the other end where it descends to the road. :)
Yes, still got firewood, but after this it's time for another 1/4- or 1/2-cord.
I have a friend's house lined up. But it would have to be tomorrow. They're some 10-15 miles away.
(I hadn't yet gotten my usual fall delivery of wood, so these two storms themselves are pretty much depleting what was left over from last year.)
Oh, I don't seriously think I'll have to. I was just forcing myself to think at least a couple of steps ahead.
As expected, Titanic is pulling out the big guns to try to keep from sinking :) We're tied again after us being considerably ahead, so vote, vote, vote.
-
We've been nominated for a Broadway World LA award for best special theater event - go vote, all of you every single one :)
I voted! Hope you win!
Cathy is up for PETER PAN, why isn't Brent?
POST DELETED
Vote, vote, vote (that is three votes). The show that's above us, the Titanic concert has a big huge cast and all the Musical Theatre Guild people will vote. That's what this is all about, I'm afraid, but then again I have a LOT of friends :) Also, the Sterling's Next Great Stage Star thing which is running neck and neck with us has a lot of followers.
Why don't you post your request on your favorite site -- Facebook?
-
How long is the voting going on?
-
Vote away - we're currently in third place but all it takes are votes. Tell your friends. Anyone can vote. Yes, it's a silly popularity contest and those with the largest number of friends voting win - but why not play?
Juliana wrote me to thank me for making her act. Melody's mother did not and I guess that's par for the course right now.
My dear sweet wonderful friend, BK, I hope we never have a falling out!
Do tater tot casseroles always have ground beef in them? I like ground beef. But the idea of the casserole sounds more appealing to me without the beef.
The beauty of makjing your own casserole is you can put anything you want in it :)
I'd just never heard of a tater tot casserole till a few days ago. So not sure if the ground beef is a common ingredient.
Yes, it is a common ingredient. In fact i don't think i've had it without ground beef, but it could be done with chicken or something else
I think i would just like the tater tots with no meat!
Tater tots by themselves are eaten like French fries. I would think they would make a pretty boring casserole by themselves.
Time for me to head home.
Be back later.
the light s have blinked several times --- please send vibes the power stays on
Great news, Vixmom!
-
Vixdad is trapped in Brooklyn - the LIRR suspended service because of weather - apparently there were trees and wires down at various locations
Great Terrible news, Vixmom!
-
34 degrees out according to the weather channel but it continues to snow~ doesn't that mean it has to be below 32?
Nope.
-
Started watching "Charade." Cheap DVD. The skin tones are lobster-y and it doesn't really matter. Cary Grant is Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn is Audrey Hepburn, and that's all that matters.
-
Vixmom, I hope the power stays on and that Vixdad gets home safe, sound and soon.
-
I'm fading, so I'll say good night.
-
those patented HHW vibes have worked so far
Vixdad just arrived home and the power is still on
oh yeah and I don't have cancer
not a bad day when you total it allup
-
I am still feeling a little feak and weeble - sore throat and achy .... I may have to call in sick again
-
vixmom, I will send you a PM.
-
OK I am not a big fan of Stephen Colbert - he's a little over the top for me, but the opening is pretty funny tonight
-
OK thanks
And I have been given an all clear by my oncologist -- says he'll see me in 6 months
WOO HOO!!!! Zip a di do dah! That's great news
Had a good time at band tonight. I am really loving playing my flute again, more and more all the time, actually. I am so glad I'm not going to miss the concert and the flute choir event. I do need to practice this weekend.
-
Speaking of this weekend. The high temp on Saturday is forecasted to be 71 and the high on Sunday 34. Now that's Iowa weather.
-
I am looking at an e flat soprano flute and think I'm going to buy it as a Christmas present to myself. I dont' think they make them anymore. This one is used but in good condition and relative to the prices I see online, it's a good price. there are e flat parts in flute choir music, so I'd have a place to play it.
How is your shoulder?
-
I talked to the flutes at band tonight about starting our own flute choir. Most indicated they would play if it was local or have students play if it was local, but some didn't want to take away from the other flute choir. Hmmm the other one is 30 miles away. They never perform here, and I'm the only person from our group who plays in it. I probably would continue to play in both, but that group is down to about 5-6 people. I don't see how having our own group takes away from that one.
Oh it hurts from time to time, especially when I play, but aleve helps and I think it's getting better.
Voting goes on till the end of the year - I'm sure there will be endless game-playing until then.
-
I just refuse to let my shoulder stop me from playing
I voted
Ok, I'm tired. I wrote a brief this morning. I don't mind doing them, but it takes a lot of concentration and focus to get it done on a deadline. I've done one for the state supreme court and one for a state court judge (who wanted a lot more than I did in my pretrial brief) in the last week. Plus the appointments all day, the phone calls, the client emergencies and trying to catch up on my cases. I'm tired
I wrote on my briefs this morning, too. It is always good to put my name in them, in case I forget where I left them.
I was surprised how angry people around here are about the election.
-
Angry?
-
Yup, angry. i've heard people angry about the fiscal cliff coming in January, Angry about the provisions of Obamacare etc. Just plain angry well angry and many are depressed. I'm not happy but I'm not angry either.
-
Not trying to start a discussion, just commenting that I was surprised at the anger
-
I am surprised as well. Of course I haven't been out of the house today, so all I know I get from the TV news.
-
Well I am in a very very red part of the country. Area wise, most of Iowa was red, it's only a few of the cities that determined the outcome for the state.
-
Oh well, time for bed. Tomorrow is another day
