Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a puzzlement, and now it is time for you to post until the puzzled cows come home.

Well, the handsome pianist called & we talked from nearly 11pm to nearly 2am about all manner of topics. We didn't even really say goodbye or have to end the conversation ourselves, as his phone decided for us that it was done.

Good morning, all!

I had a series of weird, unsettling dreams, and I slept quite poorly. I only remember the last ones: Victorian England and the Oscar Wilde trial, and then a jumble of cities with me and my goddaughter's mother breaking into homes and defacing furniture. I'll be very tired around 3 today.

Good morning, all.

Running late, as usual. It's cold here this morning, and I just wanted to stay in bed. Ah, but work calls.

Vibes to all.

Peter Billingsley in "A Christmas Story"
Jodie Foster in "Taxi Driver"
Molly Ringwald in "Tempest"
Margaret O'Brien in "Meet Me in St. Louis"

TOD

Patricia Gozzi (RAPTURE, SUNDAYS AND CYBELE) -- awarded first place for inspiring this TOD.
Chloe Franks (Amicus horror anthologies and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC)
Patty Duke (THE MIRACLE WORKER)
Hayley Mills (THE PARENT TRAP)
Natalie Portman (LEON – THE PROFESSIONAL)
Tatum O’Neal (PAPER MOON)
Jodie Foster (TAXI DRIVER)
Linda Blair (THE EXORCIST)

A couple of these just squeak in at or under the age of 16 for those seminal roles.

Greetings from Toyland!

About 10 years ago, a composer I won't mention was someone I considered a pretty good friend.  One Saturday, I went to his apartment to take him to lunch, and he insisted I listen to a new song he'd written for his partner who'd died of AIDS. I was a fan of this composer's music, and I knew several really beautiful things he'd written, but this new piece wasn't among them. I told him I thought it was nice and we went to lunch. At lunch and all the way back to his apartment, he badgered me about "nice" being nondescript; what did I think of his new song. I finally told him I thought he'd written better, and he never has returned a call since. I don't like being forced into corners.

If truth be told (and it must, it must), I've never had poutine and I'm not sure how much I'd really like it.  We get the American version (with plain old American cheese) in the diners around here, and I could eat that every day, but I'll try the real thing when the opportunity presents itself.

Re: how to get the word out about the web episode.

I think you need to get someone/or a page with a lot of followers to tweet it or post it on facebook. I think Hal Linden would be your way in. I have seen Michael Ausiello or other reporters at tvline.com post links to web series on facebook/twitter. If they like Hal Linden they might think the video is funny.

Right.  The cheese curds are the only thing I question being as "lovable" as a standard melted cheese.  But I will try it sometime.

Also love bacon and cheese fries, which I think is a Denny's thing but it might be elsewhere, too.  That kind of gravy would go just fine on that, as well.

Oh yes, kidde actors.

One performance that I think is particularly splendid is Ann Carter's from CURSE OF THE CAT PEOPLE, a movie that JohnG just watched the other day. That little gal had some talent!

HHW's very own DR DenMother, the late Susan Gordon in her debut role in ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE is another one that I am very fond of. She is pretty darn fantastic, especially seeing as how she was a last minute replacement.

Bonita Granville, as the evil little tike Mary Tilford, is amazing in the 1936 film THESE THREE. Marcia Mae Jones is also very, very good in the same film playing the timid Rosalie Wells. Gosh I love that movie!

Sadly, she had a very tragic life eventually pleadsing guilty to killing her abusive husband in 1996. Wish I could find out how she is doing now.

Although I have a copy of THE LAST VOYAGE and I have watched it many times, the movie was actually a very sad end to a great lady of the sea the SS Ile de France.  Not only was the Ile de France considered one of the most beautifully decorated ships ever to sail, but it was also repsonsible for saving over 750 passengers from the Andrea Doria before it sank in 1956.

During the filming of THE LAST VOYAGE, large sections of the great lady were blown up and at one point they almost completely sank the ship for the sake of the film.  The ship was finally sent to scrap after the completion of the movie.

I just poured Cherry Coke into a bowl of Cheerios and pickle slices and ate it on a dare. I don't really recommend it.

Today's rehearsal is done.  I figured out the order, so that's the hard part, although I may futz with it at some point.  I couldn't do anything else because they have yet to get me a photograph of the set on which we'll be doing the show.  Once I have that, then I can work out exits and entrances and areas.  But we'll be doing the bulk of the actual directing cross-country via Skype or Face Time - they'll be in a rehearsal room with the set taped out, and I'll be here watching and directing.

I guess maybe the DGA HAS finally lifted their ban on screeners at awards time - it's only taken a decade, but I just got two delivered here.  I've never heard of either movie, but it will be fun to watch these movies from this year that I would never see otherwise.

Listening to a new upcoming Kritzerland title - it's great but way too short (just under thirty minutes) so we now have to find something to pair it with - or I can see if we can do a special price on this one.  I'd rather have something to pair with it, though.

I will never make the sour cream apple cake again.

The rest of the food was fine, especially my oatmeal cookies.

The discussion was excellent.  The majority weren't too keen on THE TIGER'S WIFE but there was plenty to talk about.

What was wrong with the cake?

I didn't think it had enough flavor.

Being that it was a new recipe, something I often do for the group, I asked for opinions.  Some people liked it, it wasn't bad.  One woman said I make delicious cakes and it was a let down.  She always looks forward to my cakes.  I needed to make a mediocre one to get the compliment ;)

Retrieved my motor car from the repair shop and I am all the poorer for it. However, my automobile still makes the strange noise that caused me to take it into the shop in the first place.

:(

I hope you can get them to fix the problem for free, or refund what you did pay them for since that wasn't the problem.

DR Ginny I'm sorry my birthday wishes are late.  I hope Richard had a very nice birthday.

Thank you, DR Jane, and DRs TCB, KevinH, and Jennifer.  This has been a very quiet birthday for Richard.  We had planned a nice steak dinner here at home with Rob and Mary Linda, but she has a flu bug that she didn't want to give to Richard 3 days before his scheduled foot surgery.  We put the steaks in the freezer and Richard opted for "breakfast for dinner" as his birthday meal and we had pumpkin pie instead of cake, per his request.

Not exciting but still nice.  Wishes Mary Linda feels better soon and that Rob stays well.

Who could ever forget this little tike from the film THE LAST VOYAGE?!

Tammy Marihugh

Sadly, she had a very tragic life eventually pleadsing guilty to killing her abusive husband in 1996. Wish I could find out how she is doing now.

Trivia

After leaving acting, Tammy became an exotic dancer and by the late 1970's she was a dancer in Las Vegas. She eventually married bodybuilder Rodney Larson, ten years younger than her, who turned out to be a violent and abusive husband. In March 1996, after a night of heavy drinking, Tamra, as she was known by then, arrived at home and shot her husband in the back. She pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and in September 1997, was found guilty but given probation

Well she got probation for the killing.

Sad but at least she only got probation.  I'm sure it was self defense even if it was in the back.  I hope she is doing well now.

Ah, Blu and Ray. I found some motion pictures on them at the Tree of Dollars. "Big Business" & "Straight Talk." They also had "Another Stake Out" & "The Gun In Betty Lou's Handbag." I will have to get those on a return trip. There were others, but I wasn't interested in them.

No, no seasoning is usually necessary -the ham and the butter provide plenty of flavor
