Well, you've read the notes, the notes accentuated the positive, while attempting to eliminate the negative, and now it is time for you to post until the positive cows come home.

And the word of the day is: MISNOMER!

I'm up and getting ready to make pancakes. I made the batter last night. So it should be easy.
Then I'm taking my nieces to a craft fair.

The Vixter bought tickets for us to see Ragtime at the local theatre arts college last night.
They had lost the last two weeks of rehearsal and construction due to Hurricane Sandy - the school lost power for two weeks and there wassome sort of power surge that damaged half their sound system
so the sets were minimilistic - and they cut one number short but it was well done
The young man who played Coalhouse Porter was amazing - and we found that the student playing Younger Brother was a former student at the Vixter's high school - someone she had done shows with there.
He was quite good as well
-
When we got home last night I was quite tired - I staretd to catch up but I am afraid I dozed off
-
BK I am sorry about your debit card but pleased you found out about it so quickly --- stupid Pizza kid -- he just ruined his life for $400
-
I am so sorry for not being here to answer the question everyone was so troubled about --- to set your minds at ease - Les Miz is opening the day before Boxing Day

Good morning, all.

TOD: It happened with my business' debit card. My former business partner took months, or so he said, to get it straightened out. From what I later gathered, it actually took one phone call to the bank.
-
Saturday morning greetings! It's cold and sunny in SW Ohio today and we're probably in for the day to watch college football. Richard is sleeping as comfortably as possible and I'm just being quiet.
-
Good morning, all! I am off to Toyland. One of my copyists is coming in to use the space tday, so I need to be there to let him into the space.
My life is quiet at the moment, but I know the next few weekswill be crazy with work so that's fine.
I think my credit card problem several weeks ago is maybe my fourth situation, but I can only remember three times. This first time was in the late 1980s; someone was purchasing shoes and cosmetics all over Italy. I believe the crdit card number was stolen in a CD shop where I'd left my card after a purchase, It took me about a week to track the damned card down. The last time was last month, and I believe the situation occurred at Barnes and Noble, since there was a news article about the shop near me, as well as a few others, suffering from their credit/debit card machinery being compromised.
-
It's SATURDAY!!!

Good Saturday Vibes to ALL!!!!

Good morning, all
Good lord, what a horror story! Not only with the theft, but with Paypal. Thank goodness for that supervisor finally "getting it" and minimizing the grief. What I fail to understand is why/how these people don't "get it" sooner than they do. They make it more difficult for the victim than for the perpetrator. But thank goodness also for the Dino's manager. I'm actually surprised they turned the guy's name over so easily. Does that mean they've had trouble before, or have suspected the guy of wrongdoing? In which case, why was he still employed? I wonder how often people who do this kind of thing actually get caught. Can't wait to hear the outcome of the police visit.

Been through it a few times, but only when the credit card company spots something suspicious and contacts me, either to find out that a charge was indeed legitimate or that I didn't know anything about it. Here's what's funny (ha ha ha): I just went through it with TWO (count'em) cards, not two weeks ago. The first seemed to be a case of them proactively changing a lot of people's account numbers and they sent out replacement cards with no hassle. On the second, I got one of those phone messages to call them, which usually means a security question has come up, and sure enough there was a charge for $1.60 made in some foreign land. I confirmed it wasn't mine, and they did the change and the card arrived yesterday.
Those two were completely painless. I remember a couple of other times several years back, one in which American Express spotted something and called me, and put me through the wringer proving they had the right person. It was weird -- because I had no proof of who THEY were, or why they were asking me questions but providing no information, it was all rather Kafkaesque -- and I was starting to yell at them and threatening to hang up and report THEM when they finally started talking, like, one human being to another. Now I know to expect a few minutes of grief when these things happen.
So, several times over the years...and I'm fortunate to have never suffered an actual loss. None of these were cases in which I knew that the card number had been stolen, like BK did. Each one seemed to be an instance of some store or other company's records having been compromised. Scary stuff, though. And it can be supremely aggravating, again, because the victim is put through more grief than the perp.
-
Saturday.....and I am not working today! Hurray! Molly is working for me....and tonight is our final performance of THE CRUCIBLE!!!
-
Good morning morning to all.
Last day in Montreal until next year sometime.
Looking forward to getting back to Florida

TOD
Thankfully nothing like this has ever happened to me.
-
Ugh....yes it has happened to me a few times...three or four.
The first time....I called the credit card company....it was a VISA card....and they canceled the card and sent a replacement. However they were not doing anything to find out WHO did it. So I called the first company where something was bought, almost $300 worth of flowers - and told them it was a fraudulent charge....and they didn't seem too concerned. The second company was an electronics company in Illinois where my card had been used to buy a $600 television..... They were preparing it for shipment....I told them that charged was going to be disputed, they shouldn't send it.
They gave me the address they had for the buyer.....so I called the town police and gave them the name and address. They said I had to make a report to my local police, which I did.... A follow up email told me that the person said he was just buying something for someone else and he was supposed to send it to Africa when it arrived.....
HA!

TOD - My only direct experience of this sort was with the Nordstrom card that I got when shopping for my mother-of-the-groom dress. I had a clerk who was so-o-o-o solicitous and who called me several times to offer further shopping services. Several months later I got a Nordstrom bill for a time period when I knew I had not shopped there. Sure enough, there were some BIG items charged at the Cincinnati store on days when my passport proved I was out of the country. I called immediately and Nordstrom closed that account and issued a new card for me, but I haven't stepped foot in that store since. I'm convinced it was an "inside job" and I'm surprised none of my other cards were compromised.

TOD:
When I went to Ireland for 2 months to shoot THE DOORWAY, I paid off all my credit cards and paid all my bills (e.g. mortgage, insurance, etc.) two months in advance. I did not put one charge on my credit cards while I was away,
When I got home, I discovered a $250 charge on one of my cards; a purchase at a store in NYC that I'd never heard of before. I had to sign a paper saying I didn't make the charge and that was that. I didn't have to pay it. No idea if they ever caught the guy.
-
BK,
Careful when you file the police report.
The pizza guy probably did it...and I'm no lawyer...but if you accuse him, rather than suggesting him as a "possible suspect"....and he didn't do it....
Could that open you up to a civil action?
-
I've never had any credit card fraud (Thank God. Knock wood.). But I'm very, very careful how I use it and who I give it out to. Also my credit card company is very viligant and will immediately call about any suspicious or excessive charges. This can sometimes be irritiating if one has made a lot of purchases in the day and the card suddenly is declined until the card company has cleared certain charges. But I'd rather them be over-viligant than under-vigilant. Anytime a card is lost we immediately call the company and have the card re-issued. I never use my bank debit card for anything other than to get cash from an automatic teller. No purchases whatever.
-
I also keep my cards to a minimum. I got rid of all my gas cards, store cards, etc. and put everything on my credit cards. And mostly on the credit card which gives me air miles. And I use only a specific card for internet or mail order purchases.
-
I'm up and getting ready to make pancakes. I made the batter last night. So it should be easy.
Then I'm taking my nieces to a craft fair.
Fun!
-
I've had mail stolen & cards opened in my name. And others that were attempted but not issued, because of existing, legit debt (student loans). Anyhoo, scary stuff.

It's a rainy morning here in Central California, but that will not deter me from going to breakfast with some friends & acquaintances. One of my dearest pals plays piano there on Saturday mornings, & we have planned to dress up to eat there while he tickles the ivories.
Yesterday, I Grandpa-sat while Mom took Grandma to have surgery on her nose. (skin cancer)

Greetings from Toyland!

I also have LifeLock.
Thankfully, no incidents with my credit cards yet, but I do get regular notices about sexual predators in my area.
::)

Yes DR VIXMOM - it was YOUR idea about the audience....and I give you full credit....especially if any lawsuits are filed as a result of our actions.
-
The best thing about the Paypal debit card, which is the ONLY card I use (if I used the debit card attached to the Kritzerland bank account, I would never have any way of knowing what was what unless they caught it), is that when I make a charge somewhere an instant e-mail shows up noting the charge. And I look at every single one of those e-mails every day. Also, I know my Paypal balance every day so it's all very easy to spot. But the stupid thing on these people's parts is either giving or selling the number to people out of town - if the card company suddenly sees charges being made in LA and NY at the exact same time it's a dead giveaway.
-
Dino's not only gave us the guy's name, they gave us his phone number.

TOD
I had my credit card cloned about 10 years ago. The fraud section of my bank had spotted some unusual and expensive purchases and asked if I had used the card for them. One of the amounts was the equivalent of about $1000 for the purchase of shoes in a shop in Rome. I was sure that the card details could only have been taken a few days earlier when I was in a restaurant in Lisbon and the waiter had taken the card from me to process it. Those were in the days before we had PIN numbers in the UK. No-one would ever take a card away from a customer nowadays but it was common in restaurants at that time when a card had to go through a machine.
-
Dino's not only gave us the guy's name, they gave us his phone number.
Cue Dragnet theme.
-
And cue the sleigh bells, because "THIS CHRISTMAS" just arrived!!
-
And I am home. So far,it's been a quiet peaceful day and I plan to keep it that way. I have a bit of composing for my own amusement, and a lot of DVDs I can watch.
-
I have also received my CHRISTMAS CD!!
-
I woke up early today, did a little shopping and now am waiting to go to the matinee to see Lincoln. I'm thinking about stopping by the Hostess outlet store to see if there is anything left. They found out yesterday that Monday is their last day and then they are out of work and the store is closed.
-
I love zingers and used to eat lots of Hostess Cupcakes. I was never a Twinkie fan, but still. And I grew up on Wonder Bread. I don't buy it now, but am sorry it will be gone
-
Hope people like the title song.
-
Back from filing the police report - I'll check back in a week to see what's happened. They have copies of all the info they need. I then went and had a sandwich and sweet potato fries, and I'll go over to the mail place shortly where I will hopefully pick up some packages and an important envelope.
-
Michigan 42, Iowa 17 - sorry, DR Cillaliz!
-
No problem Ginny. I have Zingers
-
The Hostess outlet store had a big line and many many empty shelves. I got some vanilla zingers, some bread crumbs and even a fruit cake. I got some chocolate zingers and cupcakes at the neighborhood convenience store. I'm going to give the Zingers to friends and take them home for Thanksgiving, lol
-
There was not a twinkie to be found anywhere. My friends have been posting that they've gone to WalMart and Target looking for them and they are sold out. Kind of funny, I bet none of them would have looked for them if they weren't going to be no more
-

;D

I was pretty sure I'd heard the title song at the recording session, and it was worth going back and finding the post:
I spent five -- count'em -- five hours there today, and here's what I can tell you: this is already an album I want to put on repeat play. Lanny's arrangements are wonderful and the 20-piece orchestra blew me away. Or maybe the orchestra was wonderful and Lanny's arrangements blew me away. One of those. I also happen to think the East Coast Singer is sounding luscious on these songs.
It was especially gratifying to walk in as they were doing BK's own number, because it's a beaut.
Well damn, now I really want to hear it. Thanksgiving is my traditional first day for enjoying holiday music and movies so I'm holding off till then, but this will be the first thing on the player.

The Twig in San Antonio. We sold about 15 copies in a couple of hours. Not bad. Not great. BUt the day was perfect. Sunny and in the mid-60s. Light breeze.

Christmas CD arrived in the mail.
-
Picked up some packages and an important envelope then did some banking. It's been drizzling all day. I just wish it would rain already - a day of that would do wonders for this city.
-
Listening to an upcoming project's raw tracks - really great.

Raw Tracks
Wasn't that a Burt Reynolds movie back in the 1980's?

Off to the final performance of THE CRUCIBLE....only one more time to play the first scene with the worst actress in the play - if not the world.
Last night she was doing some different "acting" - not better....just different in a new bad way.

I'm really looking forward to it - it should be coming on Blu-ray or DVD to me soon from the UK.

Sandy's Christmas album is really enjoyable. Love "Christmas in the City" and that great arrangement of "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm" as well as duets.

Richard has asked for dinner from Taco Bell. I don't know if that means a) he's feeling better, b) he's had too much pain medication, or c) he's watched too much TV today. Anyway, off I go...

One of teh ladies int eh church and I went over to the Lutheran church in Lindenhurst - one of the coastal villages on the south shore
Their Pastor was our intererim pastor while we were searching for a new Pastor
-
We had lent them our church's van last week --- when we got there today they had loaded it up with cleaning supplies, cases of water, diapers, baby food, and boxes of sandwiches
We went up to their kitchen where they had two huge pots - one of homemade chicken rice soup and the other full of homemade chili
They had those take out soup containers so we filled up about 150 of them - 75 of each kind - put them in a big cooler - loaded that in the van and the two of us headed down to the area of the devastation
-
DR Vixmom, it was very generous of you to give up your day off to help in a devastated area :-*

TOD: I once got a call from a credit card company to see if I had received my new credit card and if I had made some purchases. I had not received it yet, so the charges were cancelled. I had to sign a notarized statement and was then issued a card with a different number.
-
Today I received the BluRay of The Musicares tribute to Barbra Streisand. Looking forward to watching it especially since I was in the audience that night.
-
I've always enjoyed Taco Bell, as I've written here many times.
-
I must get a ticket for "Jose's My Fair Lady."
-
What I'm not enjoying is page three. What the HELL is going on here?
-
I'm watching a close to three-hour film - I'm at the halfway point.
-
I would strongly suggest a frenzy or three.
-
This should get us to page 4, and I am going to bed.
-
!!!! 4 !!!!
-
And to all a good night!
-
'night!
-
I am so tired and my body hurts. That is all.

Watched the 1971 Columbia film "See No Evil" today. It aired early this a.m. on TCM. It was shown 16:9, high def, and it was a beautiful print. The story isn't overwhelmingly exciting, but Mia Farrow is wonderful in it, and the photography is gorgeous, especially the exteriors with swirling leaves in a fall landscape. The music score by Elmer Bernstein is evocative (not GREAT Bernstein, but very GOOD Bernstein). Sidenote: Andre Previn, Mia's hubby at the time, was assigned to write the score but it was rejected.
-
Wouldn't it be quite the coup if someone could get rights to release not only the Bernstein score but the rejected score, as well?
??!!!
-
I wanted to see that, but as the one person alive on Earth who has yet to acquire a DVR, this showing passed me up.
-
Oh, that's too bad. I remember using VHS recorders to catch shows before DVR. But the quality was laughable (now that digital is the norm).
-
I'm off work until the Monday after Thanksgiving, and I'm sooooooo happy!
-
I snagged a laptop out of Amazon.com's gold box at noon today. It will be my first. Sooooo happy.
-
All right, only 19 more posts are needed before we turn to Page 5.

I wanted to see that, but as the one person alive on Earth who has yet to acquire a DVR, this showing passed me up.
Not only do I not have a DVR, I have no tv.

My credit union called me one time because a purchase was made on my debit card on the other side of the country. Luckily it was a purchase that I had made. Obvioously, it must have happened when I was still able to travel farther than the apartment house parking lot.

Really? They still take them away from us in the States.
-
I haven't had a misuse of my credit card since about 1979, when a gas station attendant put two paper receipts into the machine to run the pressure thing over them and then filled up his car and a few of his buddies' cars, too.
-
My DH and I don't use our debit cards except at the ATM, and our credit cards are all with local banks. So if we have a problem, I'd walk into the bank in person and get them to fix it.
-
I have, however, had my account frozen because they seemed to think it might not be me using it. That's fine with me. A phone call straightened it out quickly.

I think she is going to give them as Christmas presents.

You know, that just might be "the thing" this year for Christmas!

At least it might be the popular item in a white elephant gift exchange.
-
I think this qualifies as a frenzy for me.
-
Holly and I drove randomly through the streets stopping wherever we saw people working and offering them hot soup and hot chili - sandwiches etc these areas are still without power and heat
for some reason I turned down a little street and noticed a house that had a huge pile of baby items piled up outside - there was no one outside but the garage door was wide open and the windows were open
Holly and I looked at each other and at the same moment said - "should we knock at the door?" We laughed and I said "I guess so!"
So I went up and knocked and a small lady with a little baby in her arms and a girl of about 6 standing next to her answered
I introduced myself, pointed out the church van in front of the house and asked if they could use any hot food or baby items -
She told that she had just put the last clean diaper she had on the baby -
It turned out we had a case of the size diaper her baby used in the van, and a case of the formula the baby used - we gave her those and some soup. chili and sandwiches - she was crying and saying 'God sent you" --- you know, I believe He did
what else could I have done today to make me feel more satisfied with my day than that?
-
Raw Tracks

No, but I think that elmore has the video.

You had a much more meaningful day than I had, Vixmom. That's wonderful.

Good evening and Page Five ... and not necessarily in that order.

-
Towards the end of the day we passed by a marina where a local Barbeque restaurant had set up a free buffet - there were some of thso Instant popup awing things set up with cleaning items - bottles of water , clothes etc - people were coming in droves from the local houses - all still without power and in the zone that is still under curfew --- no one allowed in or out during hours of darkness - we asked if they could the items we had in the van - apparently they had just run out of soup and were running low on water!
So we pulled in and they helped us unload the van - --
all in all a day well spent
-
Although the Hostess Fruit Cake may very well be my white elephant gift this year. The store had empty shelves but boxes of fruitcakes, lol
-
What a wonderful day, Vixmom!
-
Lincoln was a very good movie. It's all about getting the 13th Amendment passed. Paul thought it got a slow start, but everyone in the theater was really into it after that. It's the first time in ages that I've been at a movie where people applauded at the end.
-
What a wonderful day, Vixmom!
actually I kept thinking about you and all your work with the sandbag brigades
-
I wanted to see that, but as the one person alive on Earth who has yet to acquire a DVR, this showing passed me up.
Make that two of us!
-
No DVR here either

Holly and I drove randomly through the streets stopping wherever we saw people working and offering them hot soup and hot chili - sandwiches etc these areas are still without power and heat
for some reason I turned down a little street and noticed a house that had a huge pile of baby items piled up outside - there was no one outside but the garage door was wide open and the windows were open
Holly and I looked at each other and at the same moment said - "should we knock at the door?" We laughed and I said "I guess so!"
So I went up and knocked and a small lady with a little baby in her arms and a girl of about 6 standing next to her answered
I introduced myself, pointed out the church van in front of the house and asked if they could use any hot food or baby items -
She told that she had just put the last clean diaper she had on the baby -
It turned out we had a case of the size diaper her baby used in the van, and a case of the formula the baby used - we gave her those and some soup. chili and sandwiches - she was crying and saying 'God sent you" --- you know, I believe He did
I know He did.

Hmmm I've always liked Taco Johns ..I don't go to Taco Bell very often
I guess we don't have Taco John's in Washington.
-
TCM is right now showing a "making of "promo for The Singing Nun ---
now I can just think about the NYMF production of the Horrible True Life Story of the Singing Nun -- did I get the title right Elmore?
-
I have never heard of Taco Johns

Wow, the Oregon Ducks (#2 in the nation) have lost to Stanford in overtime.

What a wonderful day you had, vixmom!

No DVR here either
I need to go down to the local cable office and just get one. I've got a DVD recorder sitting here, but I don't keep it connected in a way that makes it easy to record from cable.

Can you pick up four of them. Oh, and Laura will need a TV, too.

I like Taco Bell, but I used to really love it when I could go there and fill up for a dollar.

Three of them are in Eastern Washington and the other two are on the military base. Both are a long way by wheelchair.

Back from wine club party. It was quite enjoyable. The theme was Champagne and Burgundies, and I really couldn't drink much of either because of the allergy meds, but the food was good and it was great to see some friends I hadn't seen in a year or two.
-
And now it's off to sleep. Night, all.
-
good night all - very tired
-
TCB, you aren't missing much. It's just like a Taco Bell only a little different. Sort of like McDonalds vs Burger King
-
Sleep well Vixmom
-
All this Taco Bell talk - I went out and got three crunchy tacos - excellent.
-
I watched two screeners tonight - Cloud Atlas and Argo.
-
Richard has asked for dinner from Taco Bell. I don't know if that means a) he's feeling better, b) he's had too much pain medication, or c) he's watched too much TV today. Anyway, off I go...
I love Taco Bell! I know it's faux Mex, but I love their tacos and burritos. Gives me a whole reason for returning to Middletown. That and Wendy's.
I love Taco Bell, too! I even bought all of the chihuahua dogs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItzyyVvmGjs&feature=g-upl) (I posted this video). :D

Lovely story, Vixmom. :)

I wanted to see that, but as the one person alive on Earth who has yet to acquire a DVR, this showing passed me up.
Not only do I not have a DVR, I have no tv.
One of my staff also lives in this condition. He doesn't have a TV, a DVD player or a VCR. He doesn't even have a microwave. He only got a cell phone a couple of years ago so that he could contact me or I could contact him if something happens. :-\

There are actually three books in the series. The library where I work got a whole bunch of each...and 16, count 'em, 16 copies EACH of the large print editions!

I woke up early today, did a little shopping and now am waiting to go to the matinee to see Lincoln. I'm thinking about stopping by the Hostess outlet store to see if there is anything left. They found out yesterday that Monday is their last day and then they are out of work and the store is closed.
Today, I went to the local Wonder/Hostess store. Everything was half-off/buy-one-get-one-free. Talk about crowded! All of the Hostess pastries and snack foods were gone, except for the powdered Donettes. Most of the stuff that I bought was stuff that the store sold. The only things I got that were specifically "Hostess" were a couple of packages of chocolate chip cookies. Still, it was a madhouse. One woman was in front of me in line and had a cart filled with six boxes of various gravy packets. Each box held 20 packets! AND she had a whole bunch of other stuff. What was funny was that when we got in line at almost the same time, she had to let me know that she was in line ahead of me (like I would take cuts). Even if I did cut in line, it wouldn't have taken me very long to get through. I only had six items!
-
I went on Thursday and got a few things...one package each of the orange cupcakes (my favorite), the vanilla Zingers (my second favorite), Suzi-Qs (my former first, now third favorite ;)), chocolate Zingers, and Ho-Hos. On Thursday, I had no idea what was going on and didn't realize what was going on until later that afternoon. If I would've known then, I probably would've gone back and stocked up. A couple of people there that day were more concerned about getting enough packets of the turkey gravy for Thanksgiving.
-
And now, I'm going to start to watch the recently received Blu-ray to Stephen Sondheim's Company! I don't know if I'll finish it tonight, but I finally have some time. Earlier this evening, I recorded two Jimmy Fallon specials from my DVR onto my sister's boyfriend's laptop. He's going to make Blu-rays for himself. I recorded them onto my DVD burner. That's good enough for me. Earlier this week, I recorded the Firefly special, "Browncoats Unite" onto his laptop so that he can make a Blu-ray of that for me.
-
And since we're so close...
-
PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
