Well, you've read the notes, the notes brought back the pince-nez, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently wondering where they can purchase a pince-nez.
-
And the word of the day is: PERTINACIOUS!
-
oh my its 8 AM and I have to be at church in 30 minutes!
Laters!
-
Good morning, all.
And may all your pince-nez be pertinacious.
-
DR Vixmom, what a wonderful story! Made me teary. That really does sound like a meaningful day!
-
I have a PVR and really like it. I don't like watching commercials. Mostly the only shows I watch live are things like Survivor or The Amazing Race. But I still start them 15 minutes later so I will have no waiting.
I would definitely not like watching tv if I had to be there exactly when the show was on.
-
I am hungry. Going to go have some blueberry pancakes. And then read!
-
And the word of the day is: PERTINACIOUS!
And The Song Of The Day Is: A PUZZLEMENT
-
Sunday morning greetings! No Lima for us today, of course. Fr. Richard is still sleeping, although I woke up at my usual Sunday time (5:30am). I read for a while and then slept in my chair until 9. We're expecting Rob and Mary Linda after their church. Rob's going to help me do some set-up for Thanksgiving and we're going to have the belated steak dinner that we didn't have on Richard's birthday.
-
Good morning, all.
Pillsbury "Grands" cinnamon rolls, fresh out of the oven, and coffee.
-
Thomas Putnam est mort.
-
I do not have a DVR machine either.
I am looking forward to CLOUD ATLAS.....but not looking forward to the theatre experience.....I shall probably wait for the BluRay which should be around in June or July.
-
I enjoyed reading about the adventures of DR VIXMOM and the GOD VAN yesterday - most inspiring.
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
ARGO is the first film I have seen in a theater this year...and I really enjoyed it.
-
We don't have a DVR. We don't watch enough television to justify the expense of a monthly TIVO bill. We don't have cable either.
-
We watched SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED last night.
Fun movie; weird ending.
-
No DVR for us, either...
-
I enjoyed ARGO, too. I did wonder a little bit about that whole last segment, but I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
-
We watched Broadway Melody of 1940.
There was a feature with Ann Miller about the movie and Cole Porter. It was fun to watch.
There was a TERRIBLE (IMHO) Our Gang short called The Big Premiere. A (very) young Robert Blake was in the cast. I was never a fan of The Little Rascals or Our Gang (is anyone surprised?).

Anton Checkhov with pince-nez, 1903.

Good morning! No pinching of the noses today!
-
No pinching of any kind today.
I LOVED Our Gang/Little Rascals up to the point when MGM bought the rights. They "lost something" at that point.
"Broadway Melody of 1940" is great musical fun and, in its final several minutes, a "classic of the genre".
-
Day two of my 9-day vacation. Sigh. It's going by so quickly!
-
good morning (almost afternoon) to all.
-
Back home in boca raton.
Picked up the dog
-
back to work tomorrow.
no more time off until the new year
-
Good morning, all! I have no plans today, and so I slept in.
Now that I'm moving about, I will find some breakfast, and maybe begin a book. I'm thinking about a third go with Dumas' Count of Monte Cristo: revenge, unrequited love, good deeds, evil plots, an Arabian fantasy, opium dens, serial killers, lesbians, suicide, righted wrongs; it's got it all, and it's a fantastic novel, to boot. The Peguin unabridged and unexpurgated edition, translated by Robin Buss, is a revelation, since all 19th century translations, for Victorian sensitivities, censored or cleaned up all things unmentionable in polite society.
DR vixmom, what a great day for you and your good deeds!
I have a DVR and have no idea how it works. Absolutely none.
I may see ARGO n Thanksgiving day. May I'll see LINCOLN again. I will decide on Thursday morning.
-
The following is a public service announcement for my fellow addicts:
The Criterion/B&N sale was to have ended today or tomorrow, but has been extended -- at least in the stores around here I've talked to -- until at least Thanksgiving weekend.
-
Mercy post, to get us off Page One before NOON fer pete's sake.

I love that movie, but I hate the woman who sings "Begin the Beguine." Or at least the way she sings it.
-
Yes, Vixmom, that joy is amazing, and I hope yours is contagious in your area, so that more can bring help where it's needed.
It's contagious over the Internet.

When the food is on the table, Toby and Dylan are singing BEGIN THE BEGGING
-
LOL....in harmony, I bet!
-
Well Precious is at PetSmart.....bad news....she has to be shaved to get rid of all the mats.....so she will be unhappy when she comes home in a few hours.
-
The MGM Our Gang shorts are some of the worst things ever......
And when Darla left and Janet came in.....whew....that charmless creature with her too short dresses was just irritating to watch....and Spanky and Alfalfa began to wear on the nerves as well....
And Bobby Blake was always CRYING about something.....ugh
-
I'm up after a wonderful night's sleep - got up around ten-thirty and just stayed in bed. It appears that our rainy season (one day) is done.
-
Good afternoon!
-
There is much to be done around here. I guess I should start.
-
I meant in my apartment.
-
I hear that DR KEVIN.
Non stop theatre for more than five months can do that....
-
I have only one question at this time: WHY ARE WE ON PAGE TWO?

Possible T.O.D. (Topic of Discussion, not Topic of the Day)
It is Thanksgiving Day, you are at some familiar place for dinner. It can be your childhood home, a relative's home, or maybe even your current home. Wherever you are all the food sitting on the table is perfect (mom, for once, did not burn the mashed potatoes). Suddenly time freezes for everyone in the house, but you. You are now free to sit down and pig out on one item on the Thanksgiving table, with no guilt, no repercussions, and no calories.
What is the one dish you pig out on?
-
I will eat anything that does not eat me first.
-
Good answer, JRand.
I'm not a big fan of Thanksgiving dinner. It's all a big heap of dead food to me. But when I lived in Florida, my friends would get really excited by it all and would have a big feast. On the invited list was our friend Nirmala, who is originally from India and a strict vegetarian. She would make five or six of her favorite dishes and bring those, too, so the house was filled with magical smells and plenty of love. Among the dishes she would always make was an egg curry, which she wouldn't eat, but it featured eggs in a truly spicy sauce. I loved it from the moment I tasted it, That would be the dish I'd scarf down in an instant.

Back from a Cobb salad. This day does not seem to know what it wants to be, weather-wise.
-
I've been uploading season one's episodes to Broadway World and the major press release will hit tomorrow. If you're a subscriber to our You Tube channel, I've gotten B'way World to implement the same function on their site - our own channel to which you can subscribe and get notification of updates and new episodes. So, it will work exactly as You Tube works.
-
Back from shopping for a little of this, a little of that. Well, mostly that.
Hungry. And thirsty. And...on the same page as this morning!?
-
I'd better look more closely. Where is my pince-nez?
-
I am now happily outside of a sandwich.
-
And starting on a couple of oatmeal raisin cookies.

Page 2?
Still?
-
No, this will not do.
-
I have been typing lyrics for the DEAREST ENEMY libretto.
-
I also revised my essay on the score.
-
I've been thinking about dinner, since all I've had today is one hardboiled egg.
-
What I want is pizza, but I'll most likely have some soup.
-
Perhaps a sandwich?
-
And this should send us over.
-
Bingo!
-
!!! 3 !!!
-
My work is done.
-
Hey - I'm checking in. Busy weekend. I'll ketchup when I get home this eve. Been so busy, I haven't opened my Krtizerland delivery!!! See you when I slow down.
-
Just watched "The Girl," the HBO movie about Tippi Hedren and Alfred Hitchcock. Hitchcock doesn't come off too well, I must say.
-
Rob and Mary Linda arrived about 1pm. We visited a bit, then Rob brought the extra tables and chairs from the basement that we need for Thanksgiving. He also did some shoveling out in his old room and tried to put the new license plates on my car. The front one is fine, but the old back plate's bolts are rusted and neither he nor Richard can get them off. I'll have to go to the dealership tomorrow and hope I don't get pulled over for having different plates on the front and back. We had Richard's belated birthday dinner - bacon-wrapped filets, baked potatoes, peas, peach pie.

Episode two premieres a week from today - just as it always was scheduled to do - absolutely nothing is changing save for the destination the link I post will send you to.

I took my Mom to Panera for lunch - they were advertising a "Big Kids" grilled cheese and tomato soup
They had photos everywhere of a thick cheese sandwich with "thick cut apple wood smoked bacon" and a bowl of soup
The handed a me a tiny squished sandwich with NO bacon and a cardboard cup of soup -- I asked the sandwich maker counter person if this was correct - and asked for a bowl of soup like in the photo and she told me they were too busy!!
I did something I never do - I walked back to the register where all the photos were and showed the woman my meal and the photo and said " I am very unhappy - please look at this photo and the meal I have just been served and tell me if you see ANY similarity"
She looked at the picture - looked at my tray - looked at my face and said - One moment Ma'am I will get the manager
OH I forgot to mention there was supposed to be a meld of several different types of cheese - I clearly had 2 slices of American
The manager came out - looked at my plate and the picture said ?"well the bread is wrong ..."
"Yes I asked for different type of bread - but lets look inside the sandwich - NO bacon and clearly no blend of cheeses....and lets look at the bowl of soup on the advertisement and the miniscucle PAPER cup of soup I was given ..."
"Ma'am, you are absolutely correct - i am so sorry - please sit down and I will bring you the correct meal"
Which he did - and it was delicious
I don't understand why I had to go through that however - I usually have a very good experience at Panera
-
Page three?
-
I am so very tired and I am not really sure why
-
Has anybody seen War Horse? I understand it is closing shortly - should I try and see it before it closes?
-
I should think about making dinner
-
still thinking
-
I should think we need a frenzy or three.
-
My mom's turkey stuffing. Cooked INSIDE the turkey as God intended.
-
If those who pray wouldn't mind adding someone to their prayer lists: Please pray for Miss Mae-Belle, a wonderful gracious southern belle from my church, who suffered a major stroke and is in hospice care. Please pray for a peaceful passing. I will miss her so.
-

Yes!

Major wishes for Mae-Belle, her family and friends. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
I am cold!
-
We had TAR here at 7pm since there is an awards show on at 8pm.
But unfortunately they aren't showing The Mentalist. They are switching it to their sister station, which we don't get here. So annoying. They constantly switch their shows back and forth between the two stations. That is annoying enough. But half the country doesn't even get the second station.
So i have to tape it on CBS from 10:30pm till 12:30am since there was football.
-
Hello :)
-
We had a very nice visit with Keith's cousin.

I wish Miss Mae-Belle a very peaceful passing and send you vibes of comfort.

From by friend on behalf of her granddaughter.
Hi, Nikki wants to thank all of Jane's friends who sent postcards to her for her school project. she was the envy of the class for sure. She received a lot more than are in this picture, but Grandma didn't get there to take the picture before she turned some in. Thank you all again.
-
Busy busy! Looks like I'll be making enchilada casserole, mashed sweet potatoes (hehe), & pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving.
-
Nikki, the postcard girl.

DR singingnymph your dinner sounds delicious.
-
DR vixmom's Panera story is shocking, on so many levels...
-
Guess I had better go back and read it.
-
A hearty welcome back to DR Jane! :)
-
Now start ketchuping... we need responses to EVERY POST OVER THE PAST WEEK.
(Thanks in advance.)
-
Ha! Ha! I don't think so. :)
-
A hearty welcome back to DR Jane! :)
Thank you.
-
I found DR Vixmom's Panera story funny. I can just picture Vixmom demonstrating the difference between her meal and the photo. At least they took care of the problem though they should have comped you a cookie or something.
-
Excellent vibes and xylophones for Mae-Belle.
-
Page four? Four pages? This will NOT do.
-
Finished The Dark Knight Returns.
-
I guess I'll start writing a commentary soon.
-
Hmm, some of those postcards look awfully familiar.
So does that envelope! :)

DR Ginny I read your past posts to see how Richard's surgery went. I am pleased to see it went well. Vibes he is soon running in the basement with you.
-
I had such a nice day today I felt it was my birthday.
-
We went to the last day of a dog show and walked in while the Bernese Mountain Dogs were showing. We got to pet and hug & get lots of kisses from many of the dogs. We saw a couple of people & dogs we know and met others. Most of all I had been looking forward to meeting a 7 month put I've been watching since he was a little tyke. He is a looker & has future champ written all over him. He gave me the best kiss of the day.
-
Then we went to Barnes and Noble and picked up my Nook HD and the "New Yorker" cover with the dog on it that I wanted.
-
My new Nook is charged and I need to download my library books to it so I can finish reading them.
-
I can't get it to connect :(
-
Maybe Keith can help me. It would be sad to have to use my old Nook tonight instead of experiencing the new one.
-
Great photo, Jane.
-
Nice to see Danny Burstein in another episode of "Boardwalk Empire." Great stuff. Enjoying this season more than the first.
-
Listened to Sandy's Christmas album again. Highly enjoyable.

I could keep on watching "Boardwalk" all night. But I'm fading. So, good night, all.

Watched "Treme", but I missed a few episodes this season and am clueless as to a couple of the storylines.

Just like Laura, I would sit down to a bowl of stuffing, preferably my mother's, cooked as God intended inside the bird. How did we ever survive to adulthood? Stuffing cooked in the bird, the meat left on the carcass. I should have died before I was 18. Thanksgiving has always had fond memories for me. Hard to believe that my sister and I were raised in the same house. She hates Thanksgiving.
-
I had such a nice day today I felt it was my birthday.
Hopefully your birthday isn't the only good day you have all year.
-
I love my DVR. Talked my brother into getting one and they love it too. The funny thing is I hadn't even read people on the board talking about DVRs and I had a conversation with my mom about getting one tonight. She says my dad doesn't know how to record anything anymore. Well, i don't think they even have a VCR anymore, so I'm going to see about getting them a DVR through their cable co. they can set their favorites and not even have to think about it
-
Thanks to those who answered my Possible T.O.D. I thought it might help to have some topic to bat around. But it didn't seem to help, since we were still on page two this afternoon. Oh well, I tried. Maybe once OUTSIDE THE BOX becomes the internet sensation it deserves to be, we will have lots of people begging to be able to post at Bruce's site.
-
Cilla, good to see you here. I suppose I should get one of those DVRs, but I really don't watch very much TV anymore, except for sports.
-
I would eat all the scalloped Oysters
-
Then I would eat the stuffing from inside the bird
-
then I would....oh heck, I'd eat it all if I didn't get full or fat :)
-
Good to see you too TCB
-
DR Jane, thanks for posting the photo of Nikki. Nice to see who the post cards went to and glad she was the envy of all in her class
-
I was talking to an old friend in Arizona (Sun City) tonight, and he wondered why in the heck I wanted a 50 inch TV, if all I like to watch is sports. I told him that with the 32 inch TV I can't quite see the players' underwear; so I need to try a larger set.
-
I had a good weekend. Nothing to write home about, just nice
-
I would eat all the scalloped Oysters
I have never tried scalloped oysters.

How many movies did you get to this weekend?
-
Oh they are good. I'll post the actual recipe if anyone wants it. It's just cracker crumbs, butter, milk and oysters. with some salt and pepper. You butter the casserole dish, layer the cracker crumbs then oysters then pour some melted butter on it (not too much) then keep layering till the oysters are gone and the top layer is cracker crumbs. Then you pour milk until it's just even with the top layer. They you let it set in the refrigerator for a few hours to soak it all up, then take it out of the refrigerator and let it sit until the casserole dish isnt' too cold for the oven. they you bake at 350 till it's done. Can't remember how long. It's from my grandmother's recipe and she wasn't real specific about it. I can look tomorrow to see if we figured it out
-
Page 6!
-
How many movies did you get to this weekend?
I went to Lincoln. I didn't see any others in the theater. I did see The Girl. Hitchcock comes off as a total jerk.
-
I also watched the first part of Ken Burns' The Dust Bowl.
-
I really want to see LIFE OF PI.
-
I saw the preview. Not sure if i want to see it or not
-
I want to read the book first
-
We had flute choir rehearsal today. It went ok, but between flute choir, our two band concerts with different music at each and my flute solo Christmas eve, I've got a ton to practice. I'm doing better than last year, but haven't totally gotten my confidence back. SO, I'll practice a lot and hope that helps
-
Now I need to sleep. I have a quick court appearance at 9:00 AM then it's a work day at the office. My brother has some cases in town, so he's going stop for lunch. That will be nice.
-
Wasn't quite a frenzy, but was at least a mini-frenzy. Night TCB!
-

Night Cilla!
-
Well, my work here is done.
G'night!
-
I began writing the commentary - only a third of the way through but I should be able to finish tomorrow. I had to do the Facebook event page for the Kritzerland show and that just takes forever since you have to invite people one by one. So infuriating.
-
It's snowing at Snoqualmie Pass! When I came home from work yesterday, it was quite chilly. I haven't heard if there's going to be snow in the lower levels, but it's getting cold out.

I got an e-mail from Panera about the new grilled cheese...it looks good in the pictures. If I go, I'll make sure I remember what happened to you and, if necessary, do the same thing! :D

I sat down at a piano at approximately 10:00am on Saturday morning and got up from another piano at approximately 9:00pm this eve. Besides sleeping, or driving, Ive been playing all weekend. My upper arms are a bit sore, this shouldn't happen.

I was talking to an old friend in Arizona (Sun City) tonight, and he wondered why in the heck I wanted a 50 inch TV, if all I like to watch is sports. I told him that with the 32 inch TV I can't quite see the players' underwear; so I need to try a larger set.
Good answer! Good answer!
